I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

BluePheasant Oh dear, do watch out for those headaches. What do the kesostix say (I know as things go on, the lack of food makes things complicated with ketones, though)? Do you have dry skin, or blurry vision, or dry mouth, dark, scanty urine etc?
Daffodil Lovely to hear from you. Good luck with the house hunting. I hope baby comes soon - even if walking and raspberry tea and Anything Else is out of the question.
justtheone I hope those headaches aren't too severe.

Hi all. Sorry, I'm seriously behind on this thread.

Had some awful wretching and nausea this morning. Went for my 34 week check and ended up with a really patronising trainee midwife, who told me

  1. Try and eat little and often. Oh and first thing in the morning - after all, that's why it's called morning sickness!
  2. Eat crackers (well at least she didn't suggest ginger....)

And then we had a conversation that went like this (note: I had already told her I wanted to attend a breastfeeding class)

Midwife: So you're going to breastfeed
Me: I'm going to try
Midwife: that's not the attitude! You don't say try, you said I am going to breastfeed! You don't just try to get dressed in the morning
Me: True, the last few weeks I haven't bothered trying to get dressed in the morning....

No other staff member has been pushy about breastfeeding and I felt like I was being spoken to like a small child 😒

Anyway, I caved and took some pills today and I'm feeling a lot better for it. I have my "surprise" baby shower this afternoon (which is no longer a surprise....!) and I didn't want to feel rotten for it.

Lemondrop99 · 19/08/2017 13:23

Daffofil - sorry to hear baby is resisting eviction! Hope you manage to get things moving soon!

Mustang27 · 19/08/2017 17:50

Oh god Lemon that's shit. Hope you enjoy your baby shower.

Poor you daffodil I honestly think I might contemplate throwing myself off a cliff if this baby is late.

Crownandheelshigh · 19/08/2017 17:54

Hello everyone.

So the reason I've not replied is because I went down hill very rapidly with pre eclampsia yesterday so they decided to do an emergency c section.
He was born at 1:49pm on the 18th august 2017 weighing 3.9lbs (which is apparently good considering my conditions etc).
He has nothing wrong with him, his breathing is fine, he's taking small bits of formula and his bloods etc are fine. He had to be transferred out as the local hospital I'm in doesn't take till 32 weeks gestation however as he turns 32 weeks tomorrow they have agreed to have him back as long as there is a bed.
I'm yet to have a cuddle etc but I know he's in the best hands!
So everyone meet little Logan!

justtheonethen · 19/08/2017 18:13

congrats crown Smile he's gorgeous!

Oklahoma · 19/08/2017 18:47

Lemon that's terrible but your response did make me laugh.

Crown how scary for you, certainly not how you planned it but congratulations on baby Logan how lovely to not be pregnant anymore.

Crownandheelshigh · 19/08/2017 18:49

Thank you @justtheonethen and @oklahoma.

I actually miss the pregnancy already.
I've got a lot of pain etc going on and finding it impossible to move and I'm still feeling sick so unfortunately haven't got away with it lightly xx

Ameliablue · 19/08/2017 18:55

Congratulations Crown

BluePheasant · 19/08/2017 19:13

Congratulations Crown. Yes indeed, that's an excellent weight all things considering! Hope you get to have cuddles soon Smile

Crownandheelshigh · 19/08/2017 19:26

@ameliablue and @bluephsasant thanks so much!

I was expecting a very poorly baby but I seem to have drawn the short straw and it's me instead haha.
No I'm glad he's ok tho bless him. It will be nice to see his face properly because yesterday was only via photos because of being on several drips etc. Xxx

BlueeSpottyTiger · 19/08/2017 19:46

Omg Baby Logan is amazing! Congrats crown hope your both doing well xxx

Natsku · 19/08/2017 20:00

Oh he is lovely! Must have been terrifying at the time but such a relief that he is healthy.

Daffodil397 · 19/08/2017 20:41

crown what lovely news!! He's gorgeous congratulations!
Hope you start feeling better rapidly soon.
lemon grr on your behalf for totally naive midwife and I'm trying not to wish her an hg pregnancy and tricky time bf-ing in the future because that would be unkind Grin. Hope you had a great baby shower!
Thanks everyone. Now on bonus day 8 of this pregnancy and fed up! So tired. Even with dh helping a lot I'm exhausted. Quote of the day from dsm: 'are you sure you've got a baby and not just a cushion up there?' Me 'ha ha' (grrrr) Sad

LucindaE · 19/08/2017 21:16

Goodness, Crown what a shock for you, but what a lovely baby. Flowers Grin Star I am sorry to hear that you are ill and still sick. If it does continue for a bit with you, it will clear up, don't worry. Do keep us
informed about how you both are doing.
Lemon I don't know what she means - 'crackers' - unless you're in the US. Does she mean sweet biscuits or the cream crackers type? Very annoying, anyway; highly insensitive and even arrogant.

Daffodil Poor you. Hurry up baby Daffodil.

Crownandheelshigh · 19/08/2017 21:34

Aww thank you everyone.
Baby Logan is the most amazing thing ever. To be honest i still can't believe I've given birth.
The fact I don't have to be transferred out is a positive too as it means I'm not as anxious!

To those overdue: keeping my fingers crossed for you guys to have your little ones soon.

I'm pretty confident Baby Logan just wanted to meet everyone early!!!

Oh sorry if not right place to ask but does anyone know if I need to get him some preemie clothing? He was transferred last night in nothing as I don't have anything but I'm unsure if he's had anything on him today? And I obviously haven't been able to get anything? Xx

Mustang27 · 19/08/2017 21:53

Oh hello baby Logan!!! He is so adorable. I'm sorry you are still feeling miserable preeclampsia is a nasty illness so I don't imagine it's something you get over in a couple of hours. Plus an emergency section!!! You have been through the mill Crown I'm in utter awe Star.

I'm not sure on the clothing front the midwives would be best to ask and Asda have quite a good range of tiny baby/premature so ask hubs to find the nearest 24hr one and go nuts Smile

BlueIsYou · 19/08/2017 22:07

Crown Congratulations! He looks like he's doing amazingly well Star

Mothercare have prem baby clothes for certain, if you have one near.

I know my local Asda doesn't have a prem range in store so it can be a bit hit and miss if you'll get anything.

27 weeks and 1cm dilated. Baby Blue appears to be on his way. Will keep everyone updated the best I can Smile

Melleebacca · 19/08/2017 22:14

Crown - congratulations! I hope you start feeling better soon. And baby Logan is adorable. He might not need prem clothes right now, but he definitely will by the time he goes home.

Daffodil - you have the patience of a Saint. Baby better be listening to your requests!

Lemon - I read a blog yesterday on Wordpress by someone with "HG", she said ginger biscuits helped and it was all gone by 12w. Sounded more like severe MS to me 😂.
The midwife sounds ridiculous. I have a container of formula at home, just in case breastfeeding doesn't work as well this time around. Despite having a great run with DD. Every baby is different.

Melleebacca · 19/08/2017 22:23

After 3 days of irregular contractions and a very short active labour, Little Miss Mellee #2 entered the world sunnyside up and screaming. Weighing in at 8lbs just before dawn on August 20th.
Feeding well, and now sleeping.
I'm very tired, with a sore throat from the gas and air, but pleased that disgusting taste in my mouth is gone. Ate my first bit of Chocolate in 238 days and my body almost passed out from the delirium.

LucindaE · 19/08/2017 22:41

Melleebacca Goodness, another baby arrived, how wonderful!
What a lovely picture. You have been wonderful on the thread, and we will all miss you sadly. Flowers Grin Brew Cake Star
Bluesyou Thinking of you. Do they say labour is inevitable?

OP posts:
Mustang27 · 19/08/2017 23:02

Ooohhh Melleebacca she is gorgeous. How quick was your actual active labour? Can't believe we have had 2 today this had made my crappy weekend far better. So glad you enjoyed some chocolate.

Oh Blue I really hope they stay put if possible, hugs it's not a fun time for you.
