I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hello. Hope everyone is doing ok!

So although today my sickness has calmed down (not as bad as it was) I ended up in hospital after a simple trip to the doctors, wasn't even to do with my sickness.

The juice from the tinned peaches was amazing and seems to have worked at the same time as me discovering that I actually like peaches (never tried them).

I honestly wouldn't be able to get through this without the help of this forum so thank you!

Xxx

justtheonethen · 17/08/2017 05:32

crown oh no! Hope you're ok Flowers

LucindaE · 17/08/2017 09:56

Crownandhighheels Goodness, poor you. I hope they can sort out whatever it is. I am glad tinned peaches are helpful - many women on here have lived off practically nothing else at various times!
Melleebacca Did these friends never ask how the sickness was? I know some people don't want to annoy sufferers who have it throughout, and get fed up with the 'Isn't the sickness better yet? That is odd' questions. But they could have shown concern tactfully. I think a lot of people are so horrified by this, they don't know what to do or say and seem to shut off in a strange way, not trying to understand; it is hurtful if one feels neglected.

Waves to everyone.

Hello.

So basically I was concerned with having severe swelling in just my one ankle that hadn't gone down over 3 days, went to the doctors and she found plus 4 protein in my urine (sorry if tmi).
So had to go labour ward and only left at 2:30 this morning.
Back again later for blood pressure monitoring. Xx

Natsku · 17/08/2017 15:39

Oh dear Crown hope blood pressure monitoring goes ok.

Mustang27 · 17/08/2017 15:49

Blood pressure stuff is so scary. Good luck crown

BlueeSpottyTiger · 17/08/2017 15:58

Crown how far along are you? Do they suspect p.e?
From 20weeks im consultant lead for p.e in my last pregnancy and have to be checked every 2 weeks xx

Melleebacca · 17/08/2017 19:16

Lucinda - not friends, family. We've kept the pregnancy pretty quiet due to the sickness, and family are just wanting to know if baby is here yet because they've made holiday plans and want to see baby before they go away (not my fault 😂).

Crown - hope all is alright with bubs and you. Glad the hospital is looking after you.

Bluee - last time around I had a GP who signed me off for 6w blocks. She said I couldn't work until I had regained some strength, even after the vomiting had stopped. So I needed to be 6w vomit free before she thought I could go back to work. Plus I worked in a chemical factory, so was a pretty dangerous place.

Crownandheelshigh · 17/08/2017 20:01

Hello.

So I've just been admitted 😔. Baby's too sleepy apparently.
Defo pre eclampsia.
They have put on drip to try improve and arranged a scan for tomorrow.
I'm 31 + 4. They are talking about early delivery 😔.

Xxx

LucindaE · 17/08/2017 21:22

Goodness, Crown that is alarming. Hopefully, they can keep things on an even keel.
BlueSpottyTiger That must have been stressful.
Melleebacca I am not surprised you are annoyed with them.

OP posts:
Crownandheelshigh · 17/08/2017 23:19

They are doing monitoring every 4 hours and another ctg at midnight.
Been given some tablets to keep blood pressure down and it seems to have gone down a little bit.

I'm physically and emotionally drained now.
Aswell as craving peach juice! Xxx

blackcherries · 17/08/2017 23:47

Fingers crossed for good news crown

I'm nearly 16 weeks and the worst of the sickness is definitely over although still gagging/vomiting sometimes when i have a bunged up nose/cough. The thing bugging me now is the constant gross taste in my mouth! It hardly ever goes away and is making me not enjoy eating much food. Anyone else had this and does it go? (I've not had severe HG but have had a milder version that's worse than just normal 'morning sickness' nausea).

Crownandheelshigh · 18/08/2017 01:15

@blackcherries

Thank you. I had the taste in my mouth for ages and it disappeared about week 20.
Hopefully it goes for you soon.
I found the gagging to be worse but I also knew when I was going to throw up because I'd have a coughing fit till my eyes were watering. Xxx

Melleebacca · 18/08/2017 01:55

Crown - thinking of you. Hope it improves.

Blackcherries - the taste in my mouth doesn't go away until baby is born. But everyone is different.

Ameliablue · 18/08/2017 07:35

Wishing you best of luck Crown.

Black cherries, that taste stayed all the way through both my previous pregnancies but went after the birth.

justtheonethen · 18/08/2017 07:52

Thinking of you crown Flowers

Ugh the taste Sad

Mustang27 · 18/08/2017 08:34

Sorry cherries im another one that it stays throughout pregnancy.

Oh Crown I'm so sorry this is all happening to you, p.e runs on my side but I was really lucky to avoid it last pregnancy I'm hoping I can again. Hopefully they can maintain it but it could mean you stay in hospital for next few of weeks Sad just dreadful.

LucindaE · 18/08/2017 09:36

Crown I'm glad they've been able to bring the blood pressure down a bit. I hope someone can bring in the juice of tinned fruit for you! Never worry about tmi - my goodness, urine is the mildest matter mentioned here. Discussion on bowel movements, vomting foam, and so on are the order of the day.
cherries I was lucky in that my symtoms receeded into severe heartburn alone that sometimes made me vomit at fifteen weeks, and that taste went too. I did find sucking old fashioned boiled sweets, particularly barley sugar (there was an old style sweet shop near me) took away the taste, but then, they did increase that saliva which can be such a torment.
...We haven't heard from RubyReins in a long time. I hope she is all right - comparatively...

I'm tentatively hoping that my symptoms are fading a bit. I went out of the house yesterday for the first time in a month apart from hospital/doctors! Went out to dinner and actually managed to eat a bit of meat Shock.
The dizzy feeling is going a bit but I do feel really anxious about being out in case I throw up/faint but as I haven't for a bit I shouldn't really.
I still feel horrendous in the morning and if I don't take my tablets at 5 and go back to sleep for a bit I feel dreadful all day with lots of gagging. So maybe the symptoms aren't going but the tablets are working?! I can definitely feel it when I'm due another dose.

Annoyingly my gp seems to think it's all going to disappear at 12 weeks so if it doesn't I'm worried I have a fight on my hand for more meds Sad

BluePheasant · 18/08/2017 12:17

Oh dear Crown that is such rotten luck having HG and now pre emclampsia Flowers The main thing is that you will be so closely monitored now, baby is in safe hands Smile

My tinned grapefruit was a life saver. Thinking peaches is a better option though as the taste of grapefruit is a bit too strong, I think I was just going for maximum juice!

Yesterday was a much better day, the vomiting calmed down lots. So far today has been similar but still finding eating so difficult. I can't face any type of bread. Sat here in the kitchen and there is literally nothing I fancy eating Sad

Anyone else suffering with constant headaches?

justtheonethen · 18/08/2017 12:31

I am pheasant think mine are ondansetron related though. Yours sound like they could be dehydration?

Daffodil397 · 18/08/2017 16:36

Hello everyone!
crown thinking of you hon but actually glad they are taking a proper look at you and your pregnancy now and you are not struggling with these symptoms on your own.
Hope your bp continues to settle down.
Yeah...me and bump are still here!! Getting really tired now. Did something a bit crazy yesterday, cos there was literally no signals from little one that he was ready to come, and had my midwife check yesterday and all was ok, went with dh to look at some houses as we want to move (space issues in current flat and dh has recently got a job 1-2 hrs away depending on traffic).
Was all ok but dead tired today and have had a nice long sleep.
Now going to embark on the stuff that is meant to encourage labour, walk, raspberry leaf tea, etc etc. Induction date is next wed if he doesn't come on his own by then!
mellee- I feel you. A total of 4 texts through the day yesterday. I'm like- I've got a draft email all set up, as soon as baby comes I'll let you know!! Had to laugh at my boss's text 'have you popped him out yet?'- er, no!
Hi to Lucinda and all you lovely ladies trudging up this hg path, sooner than you know your due date will be at the top too!
Xxx

justtheonethen · 18/08/2017 22:43

Ugh spoke too soon. Having an awful evening of nausea Sad

daffodil eek exciting! Enjoy your curry and walk shag Grin

Daffodil397 · 19/08/2017 06:54

just lol! This is tmi but the last one is now tricky without a full body hoist like I used to use at work!
Can't be arsed going for a walk either. Just about managing to put the kettle on for a raspberry leaf tea. Come on baby lol!

Natsku · 19/08/2017 08:15

Pretty sure I felt some movements last night Grin

Still feeling some nausea but otherwise doing ok so am hopeful I'm coming to the end of this stage
