I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Melleebacca Great advice - and you are very sensible to say you can't cope with guests. How are things? I know you have been feeling pretty foul and really, your cousin isn't entitled to a meltdown at all if you have explained.

Ah, and I meant to add, Mustang I am sorry to hear that. How are the liquids styaing down? Are you getting dehydrated? Maybe it is the twenty weeks hormonal surge? I do hope so.

Oh Bluels so sorry to hear about the insensitive, and just plain horrible comments from your MIL, people can be so hurtful at times. It's so unnecessary at a time where you already feel rubbish and totally vulnerable. I hope your DH is being supportive and you're able to curl up on the sofa and forget about the rest of the world for a little bit and just focus on yourselves. You are absolutely not a failure.

Lemon sounds like a good call to cancel! Sorry you and Mustang are feeling rubbish, but great news that you're feeling much better toomany.

Having my first proper good day in ages here, managed to eat pretty normally and so have some energy for a change, and for once haven't wasted it cleaning or doing chores but instead just spent a lovely day with my DD, it feels like so long since we spent proper time together, I've don't think I realised how much I missed it until today. Probably will pay for it tomorrow, but it was worth it!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 19/07/2017 19:30

Mustang DD is 17months and going through a 'into everything/tantrum' phase and its drainning haha.
Least last time i could just laze about and sleep!
blue aww that's awful, how you didn't snap at that i don't know. I hate it when people who haven't gone through HG think that because they had mild nausea and occasional vomiting that they know all about it.

I bet my workplace hates me lol.. i was off sick/holidays all of my pregnancy with DD except 20 days (due to HG).. i took 14months off with DD came back mid Feb... i had a miscarriage mid May and was signed off sick by my doctor for 2 weeks. Then straight after that my Grandma passed away and i was off 2 weeks compassionate/hols. Been back 1.5months and left work early last night and off today.. argggh.

Mustang27 · 19/07/2017 19:31

I don't understand what happens when you become pregnant but every man and their dog knows better than you about your health, your baby, your mental health and your ability to do things!!! It really grinds you down but you are NOT a failure as a woman and if your hospital and drs have prescribed you meds Blue you take them as they generally know best well except from the odd gingering.

Have a quiet word with your partner and say that your mils opinion is not appreciated and her judgement helps nobody.

You seem to become public property the minute you have kids/get pregnant and it's two extremes you are either a complete invalid or you have to give yourself a shake as pregnancy is not an illness Hmm. It gets really hard to ignore it all but take heart for every shitty comment you get you can come and share it here and we will all of been in a similar situation at some point. We understand even if the rest of the world are ignorant arseholes!!! Lol

pippanippa · 19/07/2017 19:31

Cross post with Lucinda, welcome back, hope your daughters graduation was lovely!

Lemondrop99 · 19/07/2017 20:32

Welcome back Mother Hen

Welcome new people, sorry you're here Sad Sorry your feeling awful Mustang.

Blue, I'm exasperated for you. My SIL hasn't said anything but I really don't think she takes me seriously and thinks I'm exaggerating. I know it's your MIL so you prob have to keep the peace, but I'd probably tell her where to shove her opinions and then vomit on her shoes.... I have no time for unsympathetic people who have no experience of this type of sickness but this they know it all.

I've had a very sore face for the last five days, all down one side of my nose and right across my gums oh the same side. I'm actually fairly convinced it's an inflamed maxillary sinus causing the problem, not a dental issue, but still thought best to get my teeth checked as I'm well overdue. However it's all calmed right down today (which again makes me think it's not dental), so luckily cancelling isn't a huge issue.

Anyway, not really with it here today so sorry to anyone I've overlooked. I'll catch up properly with the thread tomorrow

TwoDrifters · 19/07/2017 20:39

Welcome back LucindaE - how did it all go?

BlueIsYou I don't know how you held back any comments, well done, and I'm so sorry to hear you're not being supported as you should be. I wonder if a link to this page might ~silence your MIL~ be of help? www.hyperemesis.org/family/how-to-help/index.php

TwoDrifters · 19/07/2017 20:40

(Ah strikethrough fail!)

weasledee · 19/07/2017 21:11

Hello ladies,
My update is a bit rubbish!
I went for my 12 scan yesterday and I had the bad news that the baby has a NT measurement of 6mm....
Not had the blood results back yet but this clearly isn't good. Got a hospital appointment with consultant on Friday to discuss where we go from here....
My previous pregnancies were all low risk like 1:15000! So was quite a shock...
Obviously fed up and seems crueler with all the suffering of the past few weeks for this to not end well.... :(

Mustang27 · 19/07/2017 21:16

Oh no weasle I'm so sorry. I'm really not an expert with all this so I don't really know what that all means but I am absolutely thinking of you x

BlueIsYou · 19/07/2017 22:23

Thank you lovely ladies Flowers

MIL wasn't with me when she said it, DH reported back to me, that's how I know. He had a bit of a shouting match with her over it Blush

It's not the Drs causing issues, all the Drs think I'm doing too much. MIL thinks I'm exaggerating and should "try and find something to take the nausea away, as that's what makes you sick. A few mints perhaps?"

Angry
BlueIsYou · 19/07/2017 22:24

Lucinda My due date is 17th November Star

BlueIsYou · 19/07/2017 22:25

weasle So sorry, I don't know a lot about that but I want to give you my sympathy. How rotten, after all you're going through Sad

YoureNotASausage · 19/07/2017 22:49

I haven't been on this thread much because i can't bear to think about this awful sickness. But came on to share a minor discovery for something to eat today. Watermelon is the business. Sweet and lots of liquid. Also I ran out of apple juice and can't cope with water so made some honey and lemon, was able to drink the whole thing.

I dont always bring up my food, mostly its violent air and yellow acid stuff or white foam. Does anyone else have this? I have brought up all my meals today so its been a bad day but do find it strange that even just after eating and wretching violently for a long time my food still often stays down. The other weird thing is that if I eat a bunch of things even at exactly the same time, I only bring up some of the items. I had a huge glass of milk after my omlette today and not a bit of milk came up, just dry omelette. Sorry to be so gross but I find this all really strange and often wonder if there is not more research that could be done to understand and control this awful awful sickness we suffer.

Weasle, I am so sorry to hear your scan didn't go well. It is very cruel to go through all this on top of HG and I hope that some of the blood results are much more encouraging.

Blue, a few fucking mints. God I wish sometimes I could let other people feel what this is like for even just an hour. They simply don't get it. The closest I can say is that its sometimes like a vomiting bug feeling for day after day after day. Often the sickness is all over your body and throbbing in your head, not just some 'nausea'.

Good luck everyone, thats another day over. sigh.

TwoDrifters · 19/07/2017 22:54

weasledee I'm so so sorry. I'll be thinking of you Friday Flowers

NonStopDisco · 19/07/2017 23:12

Hi all, thread has moved on a bit since I was last here, had a trip away to the which was really nice, did next to nothing!
blue at least your DH is sticking up for you well, there's no end to the sheer ignorance of people who havent gone through it sometimes. But I felt like I was taking the piss sometimes, it's hundred times worse wh. Someone else tries to put doubt in your mind.

Weasle sorry to hear what you're going through.

sausage I did foam a lot during weeks 13-16, not sure how far along you are, sorry! Also if I eat chicken and vegetables, at the moment only the vegetables return.

Only being sick twice a week now! Nauseous quite a lot but feeling better and managing at work doing a bit less than normal.

Natsku · 20/07/2017 05:56

weasledee oh sorry to hear that but fingers crossed the bloods are more positive. Will be thinking of you on Friday.

So angry at your MIL blue what a bitch!

I tend to bring up everything sausage had a really nice burger and milkshake yesterday during the journey but reckon the milkshake was too much as it all came back up. Seems I can keep down small meals but nothing too big or rich.

beanhunter · 20/07/2017 09:30

Thinking of you Weasle.

BlueIsYou · 20/07/2017 09:38

Yourenot I eat a watermelon (whole) a day!

Fresh, juicy and high water content. Baby Blue approves Grin

Little fecker is picky with what I'm allowed to eat

1984FS · 20/07/2017 10:00

Also thinking of you weasledee! Flowers

Im having an especially bad day today, was up early and have already had 2 bad episodes - also everything is feeling quite dehydrated again so I'm worried another hospital trip is imminent. Sad Hope everybody else is having a better day so far.

beanhunter · 20/07/2017 10:17

Am paying for my busy day. Dry retching and can't keep anything down.
Having a private scan and the panorama test this afternoon - need to decide if we want to know the sex or not.

LucindaE · 20/07/2017 10:36

pippassnippa and Everyone: thank you for good wishes about daughter's graduation. It was a happy occasion, but exhausting as besides collecting the gowns and having the photos taken and the actual ceremony, for vet grads there was an extra element where they had to take an oath to be sworn in as vets - and then we had to change hotels , goubg over to the Wirral for the trip round the animal hospital and then back to a hotel to get ready for the later ball. Not as exhausting as Hyperemesis, though!

BlueSpottyTiger BluesYou and others, I so agree about melon, maybe chilled, one of my recommendations. Very bland stuff, and ideal for liquid; there was a sufferer on another site I temporarily took over who recommended putting it into a blender and freezing it into cubes.
BluesYou I do think that the doctor sounded as if he was saying you were exhausting yourself almost as a matter of choice - but sufferers with Hyperemesis are always exhuasted. Is it impossible to take sick leave? BlueSpottyTiger I am sorry to hear of a miscarriage followed by a bereavement - what with this, you have had your share of misfortune of late.
pippasnippa I do hope your tonsilities has long gone? That swollen throat is nauseating by itself.
Melleebacca How are things today? I hope you, Lemondrop and Mustang and others suffering relapses aren't feeling too discouraged - and that everyone is more or less coping.

weasledee I am so sorry - I somehow missed your post. That is alarming news, and I only hope that the measurements are inaccurate. It is very hard to hold on in such circumstances.

Lucinda I think he meant I wasn't making things an easier for myself by traveling to and from work etc, all whilst being very sick with HG.

He wasn't horrid, just concerned. Unlike quite a few unsympathetic busy bodies in my life Envy
