I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thanks ladies, just need answers asap, it's the waiting for things to happen that's so hard at the mo...

pippanippa · 20/07/2017 12:39

weasle I hope everything goes ok on Friday for you, will be thinking of you.

Lucinda, am pleased to report tonsillitis is gone, just have normal run of the mill cold symptoms now. Unfortunately after a good day yesterday vomiting and nausea are back full force today, inevitable I guess!

Daffodil397 · 20/07/2017 14:07

Thinking of you weasel as you wait for the results Flowers xx

Does anyone have any experience of providing evidence of discharge letters? Not the same as a sick note.

I'm off today (have a sick note), which is covered, however - I do not have a discharge letter from the times I was in hospital last and this will apparently be impacting my sick pay.

I don't have these letters! I did ask when I was discharged last time and they said just show her the notes.

Well employer is refusing to look at notes as says that's not good enough - she needs a formal discharge letter.

What do I do? Sad

pippanippa · 20/07/2017 14:21

Bluels I needed one once for evidence of treatment at A&E. I contacted PALS at the hospital to see if they could help and they were very helpful and sent me a copy. It did take some time though (but then I did it by email so probably best to call them). Hope you're able to get it, but how frustrating!

pippanippa · 20/07/2017 14:25

Should have said, this was a few years ago though...so things may have changed!

thingymaboob · 20/07/2017 15:39

@BlueIsYou you're employer is talking out of their arse! They don't need a discharge letter for sick pay. Many people are on sick but don't go to hospital.

BlueIsYou · 20/07/2017 15:41

thingy It's either that or a sick note.

But you can't get sick notes backdated and this hospital admission was on the past Sad

Lemondrop99 · 20/07/2017 16:16

Thinking of you weasle x Flowers

thingymaboob · 20/07/2017 17:36

@BlueIsYou ah right, I understand. The hospital will have all records about your stay. It should be quite easy to get hold of. What have you tried so far?

BlueIsYou · 20/07/2017 17:57

thingy I have tried phoning the hospital and they are quite perplexed, they say they're a busy labour ward and in all honesty, my maternity notes should be enough for proof 'if the employer is really that desperate'. The midwife I spoke to sounded quite annoyed on my behalf Grin

Not sure why I'm smiling! I'm going to have to pay £35 for a letter outlining my stay, of which will take over a week to obtain but will be cheaper than the loss of earnings in my sick pay that I'm being threatened with!

HR were poo and basically said yes, a sick note in replacement can't be backdated - I'm right. So ill just have to get a letter. I said this could take a while to obtain, it'll impact my sick pay... and she was like "Well if that's such an issue, change surgeries Confused"

Just feel so down Sad

On half pay this month from all the sick leave. Which is still quite generous. But we will struggle as rent comes out just before DH gets paid his £1.7K salary.

So now, MIL is going to have to help. Which I hate being the case as you all know the mean comments she's made Angry

thingymaboob · 20/07/2017 18:37

@BlueIsYou
Hmmm. How far away from the hospital do you live? If it were convenient, you could go to the unit and ask the ward clerk to print off the discharge notes. You are entitled to have them so shouldn't be charged, especially if you weren't given them. Furthermore, your GP gets sent copies of your discharge letters and surely they can print them? It would take about 5 minutes for the ward clerk to look you up and print them off.

BlueIsYou · 20/07/2017 18:39

thingy I have the notes for discharge, employer has seen them. But that's the issue, they're just notes.

She wants an official discharge letter Envy

thingymaboob · 20/07/2017 18:59

@BlueIsYou yes that's what I mean. The letters. They'll easily print them for you. I work in NHS and review notes all the time. It's easy to find the letters and print them off if you can find someone sympathetic who will do it.

BlueIsYou · 20/07/2017 19:03

thingy I'm a medical Secretary and we're usually not allowed to without being given the okay although I have and I've even posted them out of sympathy before

Natsku · 20/07/2017 19:07

That sounds like a better idea than paying 35 quid! Which is ridiculous - might have to pay for a lot of healthcare things over here but at least things like discharge letters and medical notes are free and easy to obtain (the latter we can view online now which is brilliant as I can double check what the doctor said as I invariably stop paying attention in appointments - mind likes to wander too much!)

thingymaboob · 20/07/2017 20:32

@BlueIsYou won't the obstetrician who treated you give the OK? I just think it's absurd that you have to go through all this fuss when it's such a simple administrative thing to do. I especially think it's rubbish you have to pay £35!

beanhunter · 21/07/2017 08:36

Off to see the hyperemesis unit this morning for bloods and maybe fluids.

Natsku · 21/07/2017 08:42

Hope you get fluids, they really help you to feel more normal again even though it sucks having to wait around so long while getting them

beanhunter · 21/07/2017 08:58

Thanks. Bet I won't. They didn't really even want to do bloods but my husband argued with them.
Main thing today is I really want to pick up my daughter from her last day in school as we are moving in 3 days.

Daffodil397 · 21/07/2017 09:10

blue so sorry about this, exactly the stress you don't need when feeling sick!
TBH I think this is on the hospital. When I was admitted they did give me this letter and my boss, though nice and everything, did insist on seeing it to send to HR. You should not have to trek there or pay for them to send it in my view. Can you call PALS, explain your condition and ask them to liaise with the ward to rectify their error asap?
bean all the best today and hope you get the right treatment quickly Flowers
Sorry v sleep deprived thanks to dd Sad can't remember who posted about watermelon, I hadn't tried it yet! Got dh to get me one yesterday (he got me a giant massive one about the size of a pillow!!) and it was so nice, went down really well, thanks for the tip!
Waves to all you lovely ladies today xxx

beanhunter · 21/07/2017 10:10

Just having some iv antiemetics than fluids. Hoping I can perk up enough to pick my daughter up.
Seen by the lovely nurse who I saw here last week (it's based in epau) who was pretty horrified by both the eat more fibre and the we don't need to see you as you aren't 3+.
They've also said if I feel naff on

beanhunter · 21/07/2017 10:10

Can have more fluids before the move.

Natsku · 21/07/2017 11:27

That's a bit better bean definitely go back for fluids before the move, will help you get through it easier.

HaichM · 21/07/2017 11:38

Bean: good luck with the move. We've just found out that although we will hopefully get the keys next week, the carpet fitters can't come until the week after, giving us only 2 days to get moved in and clean up our currentl place. I will be 41 weeks pregnant then too, if baby hasn't already arrived.

I had a leak last night and some contractions/braxton hicks but they stopped and nothing since. I've been having fun with the ondansetron constipation this week - lots of cramps and back pain as a result but the lactulose was working until I forgot to take it yesterday. Now suffering back pain again and not sure if related to baby and the leak or more constipation.

Mellee: hope the organising is going well. I think we've done as much as we can until we move house.

Currently sat binge watching GoT to hopefully distract and relax me. Sending positive vibes to all
