Blimey. I've been lurking around mumsnet for a few months while ttc, but have only posted a couple of times. Didn't expect to be the one starting this thread!

Got a BFP yesterday (in the loo at work - classy!) and another one this morning.

According to fertility friend the due date is 9th feb.

It'll be our first, and we're both a bit shell-shocked. But happy, I think!

Is anyone else due in feb? I could really do with someone to compare notes with. I'm dying to tell my friends and family, but feel that we should leave it a few weeks, really..

Anyway ? hello everybody!

I was away on holiday for a week and then have been a bit quiet as I've been really really emotional - spent most of last week blubbing as soon as anybody even said hello to me. Had to tell people much earlier than I was planning to as I felt I had to explain why I was so unlike my normal self! Haven't blubbed for two days now, so maybe things are settling down a bit.

I feel generally sick most of the time, but no actual throwing up as yet. Seem to remember this from DS - the delicate balance of the right amount to eat - if you don't eat enough or frequently enough you feel sick, but if you eat one mouthful too much, or too frequently you feel sick too. Feel like I am on the verge of an upset stomach all the time too - not pleasant!!

8 weeks today and had a scan (booked a private one as recent m/c in the family had raised my anxiety levels too high to wait for 12 weeks). All seems fine - saw the heartbeat and baby measures 19.8mm. It's hard to believe that something so small can make you feel so poorly!

Congratulations to StaceyK and Makenzie. Hope everyone's doing OK.

HAd first midwife apointment yesterday. She gave me an official date f 2nd March but my cycles are longer than normal so it will probably be changed when I have my scan.

Still, DS was 2 weeks early so i will keep checking in here too as well as the march thread!

mckenzie · 21/07/2004 20:38

well I've got a frazzled barin already and I'm not even 3 months yet! A friend asked me to babysit for her children for tuesday night to which I agreed but on tuesday morning she called and told me she didn't need me after all. 12 hours later I drive to her house at the allotted time having completely forgotten about her cancelling. What a doughnut I am.
And then this afternoon I come home an find that yesterday evening I must have left the freezer door open and all the food has defrosted. I'm going to re-freeze the vegetables and I've just cooked the biggest bolognese you've ever seen witht he mince but the rest has gone in the bin. What a large doughnut I am.

mckenzie · 21/07/2004 20:39

mckenzie · 21/07/2004 20:40

That's it, i'm staying in bed until February.

Angeliz · 22/07/2004 10:19

Nice to see you here too Popsy
I can't wait for my scan to prove it's real!
I am still a bit sickly though haven't got round to the bands as i keep thinking it's getting better. My moods seem to be on more of am even keel which i'm sure dp is pleased about!!!

I am eating tonnes of fruit and now with mckensie saying it twice i REALLY fancy a donut!!!

Angeliz · 22/07/2004 10:20

Also, does anyone else get a feeling like hunger all the time?? I eat often but i keep feeling starving and sick and have to nibble again!!
Anyone?

futurity · 22/07/2004 10:25

Yes...I have this...eating makes me feel less sick. Sickness been all over the place..not too bad recently but today feel really yuk! Mood not improved by telling someone this morning I was pregnant and she said "oh yes..I thought so..you've got a bit of a bump there!"...I said I am only 9 weeks!! She looked embarrassed and said quickly that skinny people often show quicker!

Felt better when I got home and checked my email and saw that my friend had given birth yesterday..husband sent a cute photo through so that has made me smiley again! Got the midwife coming this morning as well.

Hope everyone else is well.

Staceyk · 22/07/2004 10:45

My God see you all have midwives, I don't!!

futurity · 22/07/2004 14:19

How come StaceyK?

Well midwife was all fine. Gave me loads of blood test forms and a lovely pot to provide urine in (nice!). Also discussed the nuchal scan which wasn't available last time. I think I am going to have it and it should be the same week that I have the dating scan (don't seem to be able to have both at the same time easily so it will be two visits to the scan department).

Still feeling yuk..made even worse when she was discussing morning sickness with me!!

jolly4 · 24/07/2004 14:42

hi all, hope evry one well been a long time since i been on , am fine now 10weeks sickness passsed just knakkered an irritable got appointment for bloods 2nd sept 20 week scan on 27th sept soon be here see ya all xxx jolly

Staceyk · 26/07/2004 10:22

futurity, Thats just it I don't know why!

Think cos I done things a bit akward.
when I got + HPT I called ferlitly specialist at hospital to see if I should carry on taking Metformin, she told me to go straight in, and it was her who scanned & told me 8 wks pg, and she arranged my 10wk scan and 12wk scan!
So no midwife been spoken about. What I am planning is Hospital this Friday (10 wk scan) and then go to GP's on Friday, hopefully with scan pic, and give him all details! Hopefully somewhere along the line someone will mention midwife??
I really want one, cos loads of questions, I am flying on holiday end of Aug, Do I need to tell insurance co I am pg?
I can't wait til this Fri, 1. because first time DH will see baby, 2. cos should find out proper date, I personally think I'm more like 9wks than 10. 3. Puts mind at rest that all ok! fingers crossed.

Momof2 · 27/07/2004 09:44

Hi Everyone, hope you are all ok, sorry I haven't been around - had a week sick and then a week holidays, feeling so much better now, but still a little delicate 1st thing in the mornings, but soooooo much better than before.
Have my midwife appointment on Friday afternoon, am wondering if I have my dates right as I am seriously huge but only boobs and tummy - not put any on around my face or bum so it can;t be all the chocolate can it??

2ticks · 30/07/2004 14:47

I'm cross, cross, cross this afternoon

I was meant to have my booking in appointment this afternoon - as it is a longer appointment than normal it is held at a local clinic rather than my Dr surgery. The appointment was at 1.30 so I arrived at 1.25 and told the Receptionist I was there. She said that the Midwife hadn't arrived yet, so to take a seat in the waiting area. I know they often run late, so I waited until 2pm and then went back round to reception to see what was going on. It was then that another Receptionist told me (in a really snotty voice) that the Midwives were really snowed under and had cancelled the clinic. The Receptionists didn't have access to people's telephone numbers, so couldn't phone and warn them. She said to phone up the Community Midwives office to re-arrange the appointment and guess what - an answerphone!!

What a total waste of my time. Of course I understand that sometimes appointments need to be cancelled if they have a sudden staff shortage or whatever, but surely it is not acceptable for the Midwives not to contact people in advance to let them know and to rearrange. How do they think it is OK to waste my time like that?? Now I have to try to get hold of someone to rearrange the appointment, then try and sort out childcare arrangements for my 2 yr old all over again.

Hope everybody else is having a better day than me!!

Angeliz · 30/07/2004 14:49

Do they have a death wish or something upsetting women at this stage?????

Sorry, know it must be SO annoying hope you feel better soon+

futurity · 03/08/2004 07:37

Got my dating scan this afternoon...really nervous...roll on 2pm! Hope everyone else is well

bluestar · 03/08/2004 08:45

Good luck futurity!! One day I will get to join a thread here. Like to pop in now and again to see how the ex-ttcers are getting on!

Angeliz · 03/08/2004 09:16

futurity, good luck and let us know how it went

(AM VERY jealous as can't WAIT for mine!!!!)

futurity · 03/08/2004 18:08

All well! Baby leaping around like a mad thing! It was bouncing off the walls..waving..kicking...fantastic! Scanner said I am now 12 weeks (I thought 11) so due date 17th February but may change again next week when I have nuchal scan!

Hope everyone else well.

Angeliz · 03/08/2004 18:43

oh futurity i am pleased

I bet it all seems so much more real now!!!?
I'm sure it will for me.
three more weeks!

2ticks · 03/08/2004 21:15

Great news Futurity!

I have my nuchal fold scan on 16th August, and a second attempt at my booking in appointment this Friday - fingers crossed that they don't cancel this one!!

Staceyk · 04/08/2004 09:05

Hi All

I had scan on Friday all ok, still not giving exact date just saying 9-10 weeks! Really snotty lady who done scan, but at least DH got to see little one, and I was reassured all ok. So roll on 18th August for proper scan, hopefully with picture and definate date, and then we can start to tell people (can't wait)
Still no symtoms just tender boobs!
It's going to be a mighty long fortnight.

Angeliz · 04/08/2004 09:12

Good news Stacey

I'm not looking forward to seeing the bitchy receptionist i had last time in the hospital ante-natal unit. But i am alot more confident this time so i might just suprise her

Momof2 · 04/08/2004 09:24

Morning all,
Wow you all get really early scans. I only get one and that isn't until 27th Sept (at about 20 weeks)
COuld pay for a nuchal one but they want 150 quid so will have to wait for the blood test on week 16.
So jealous that you all have scans but really glad to hear the results

smellymelly · 04/08/2004 15:51

Hi Angeliz, I'm popping in from the Jan thread - and I just wanted to add that I felt Ds at 14 weeks, Dd at 11.5 weeks, and these 2 at 10.5 weeks. So you are right it is definitely possible to feel them earlier then most people assume. I can't imagine not feeling them until 20 something weeks.

They are kicking now as I type, and I love it!
