does anyone no why they are sending me for a scan on monday ?????

OP posts:
mears · 15/07/2004 19:04

Just read through this thread Nikcola - what a horrendous time you have had.

As far as the scan goes on Monday, it is being done to make sure there is nothing left in your womb since your termination. Some times it is just blood clot which you will probably pass on your own. The tablets you have will probably be antibiotics to make sure there is no infection there which can also cause bleeding. If there is anything still there on Monday you might be advised to have a D&C. Hope everything is OK on Monday for you.

nikcola · 15/07/2004 19:06

thank you mears

OP posts:
mears · 15/07/2004 19:29

No Nikcola - I am a midwife. Terminations of pregnancy are carried out at our hospital.

The pills are all antibiotics to make sure that a broad range of infection possiblilties are covered.
Doxycyclin is recommended at all terminations of pregnancy to ensure that there is no chlamydia infection present.
Hope that helps.

when i was examined the doc said that the neck of my womb was slightly open, does that mean anything mears?

OP posts:
nikcola · 15/07/2004 21:01

u still there mears

OP posts:
mears · 15/07/2004 21:28

Hi Nikola - just back. The neck of the womb being open can mean that there is still tissue or clot still to be passed. Since the doctor said that the neck of the womb was only slightly open, it could have been on the way to closing because you had already passed clots IYSWIM?
Hopefully you have already passed what was there and the scan will confirm your womb to be empty.

Yes you can. You can take whatever you are used to taking. Sometimes paracetamol is all that is needed or brufen. Glad to have been able to help.
