Glad you had a good scan cotton and congrats on the lovely news rebecca

I've just finished first week of bed rest - am now 14w+2 - spoke to midwife today to check in and she thinks 2 weeks is excessive so have scan tomorrow morning instead of next Friday. Will be good to have a bit more knowledge and an earlier answer on whether baby is still ok or not.

V nervous but hopeful

Marchgirl · 20/11/2015 18:03

Hand holding for tomorrow disney x

CottonSock · 21/11/2015 08:54

Welcome new ladies. Try not to worry sunny, symptoms come and go. I might think they have all gone (inset of panic) then they return a few days later.

Thanks march. I will take the injection if Dr advises, but kind of hoping for a negative second test.

Good luck today Disney. Hope you get released from bed rest.

Getting busy, have Midwife booking in and another scan this week and blood results. My Epau consultant has been lovely about scans.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Nousername2015 · 21/11/2015 09:34

Welcome sunny. Like cotton said, before you know it the symptoms will be in full swing. Congratulations on your pregnancy.
Good luck for scan today disney! Hope all is well and you get released from bed rest.
Busy times cotton but all sounding very positive! Apart from the lupus test, fingers crossed you get a negative on this one and avoid the injections.

I've had 9 bouts of hiccups within a 36 hour period which has got me worried. Stupidly googled as well and now got a head full of cord accidents. Rang community midwife who told me to go and be monitored and then pretty much got laughed out of the day unit. Rang triage in the night as they were still going on and got a 'why would we be concerned about increased hiccups?' response so I guess I'll have to take their word for it. Luckily baby is being kind to me by moving lots. Looked through my maternity notes last night too and noticed I had trace protein in my last sample, thats nothing to worry about right? I do get headaches but bp was fine at last appointment.

Aargh, feels like I'm so close now but it feels so far!! Anyway, enough of me - hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Nousername2015 · 21/11/2015 09:36

Just checking in on you mrsd, have you had your follow up scan yet? Has the placenta shifted out of the way?

CottonSock · 21/11/2015 09:57

Nouser, I haven't heard hiccups are something to worry about. My DD got them all the time before she came out perfectly healthy.

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/11/2015 10:14

nouser we have hiccups several times a day and they last a long time. Not that it offers reassurance but hopefully yours mean nothing. Glad baby is moving around lots. It's the best sign things are OK. They aren't scanning me again. They say there's no point with grade 3 placenta previa. Saw a cinsultant yesterday. It is unlikely to move out of the danger zone now evrn if it shifts a bit. I'm booked for a section at 37+6 on 2nd Dec. Just need no more bleeding and not to go into labour early. My state of mind fluctuates between freaking out and feeling OK! Lol!! Just want an alive baby. Not much then!!

Disney hope the scan goes OK. Let us all know xx

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/11/2015 10:15

Oh my ... Typos... Sorry!! Have good weekends ladies xx

Metalhead · 21/11/2015 11:05

My section date is on the 2nd too mrsd! Though I'll be 39+2 then. Not long to go for both of us now eek!

Good luck with your scan today dsiney, fx for good news.

Mine has lots of hiccups too nouser, and I'm sure DD1 had them as well, so I really wouldn't worry about it especially since you've been checked over and everything was fine.

cloudjumper · 21/11/2015 14:08

Hope all goes well at the scan today Disney

My section is now also confirmed, 22 December! Also got appointments for the pre-op on the 21st, and will be getting the steroid injections on 17 & 18 December. Getting real now!
However, the consultant wants me to have weekly blood pressure and urine checks, just because of my age Angry The midwife didn't mention anything like that when I saw her on Monday, and while I am all for continuous care, I find this a bit excessive, as I am only 34 weeks. Wondering if I could hold out with the weekly checks until I start mat leave in 2 weeks because getting appointments at my GP is such a faff, their opening hours really clash with my work hours... Hmmm.

Nousername2015 · 21/11/2015 14:42

Crikey, its a busy few weeks for babies on this thread, how exciting!

No hiccups since this morning so now back on planet earth. Sorry about the freak out and thanks for the reassurance.

dobbythedoggy · 21/11/2015 16:11

nouser dd had loads and loads of hiccups towards the end. I'm not sure who told me but at one of the appointments to work out if I needed a section or not someone, consultant or midwife said it was a positive sign. Something along the lines of being good practice for breathing.

mrs I felt the same until the morning of my c-section, the day of it I just felt very very calm. Good luck to you and metal.

Since reaching 24 weeks last weeks I'm feeling a lot more relaxed, until bump has a quiet hour or so. But luckly his a little wiggler. He prefected bladder kicks or punches this week, perfectly timed with two days traveling up and down the motorway for my nan's funeral. It made for a very long trip, paticually when we were crawling along in the rush hour through bristol.

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/11/2015 19:48

Section twins metal! Shock

I can't stop worrying something is going to go wrong. I've been having odd discharge since the bleed last weekend and sometimes I can handle it and other times I'm convinced something bad is going to happen. It varies between red and brown gloop, most recently brown so its old blood. The consultant wasn't too concerned, but I wish it would stop. Arrgghhh... Always something to worry about...

cloudjumper · 22/11/2015 09:25

I hear 'ya, mrsD I've also started worrying about movements... Baby went all quiet for a day last week, and I kept thinking if I should get it checked... DH was almost more worried than I was. But then it went back to kicking and moving lots Confused
Is your discharge maybe the mucus plug? But I can understand that it's worrying! Are you seeing your mw soon, can you discuss it with her?

mrsdiddlydoo · 22/11/2015 12:34

I feel like i'm losing my marbles cloud! It's just like the beginning all over again stressing out about everything going wrong but now there's a fully grown baby to lose. My dh and I have discussed that it could be the mucous plug. We're over analysing everything. No appointments now until a week on Monday. She seems a bit quiet but I 'm not sure. Still moving. I think i'll try calling my mw led unit tomorrow for advice. It just seems oot calling the emergency maternity bleep. Nothing's ever straightforward.

DisneyMillie · 22/11/2015 15:49

Hi all - my scan went well yesterday - still got to go back in a week as still getting discharge and I want someone to check my cervix as there were no obvious causes for bleed and I've had leep on cervix previously so I was already a bit concerned of whether this would cause a problem (EPU won't check anything at our hospital except whether baby is alive / bleeding in womb)

They didn't say anything about the bed rest so I think I'll take it easy at home another week (although maybe not in actual bed) as I'm still getting brown discharge and some discomfort when I sit up too long. Work are luckily very good and I assume I'll get a doctors note ok as it was what I was originally told to do.

Totally know how you feel mrsd - discharge just makes you feel on edge doesn't it. I'm sure we'll both be fine though, fingers crossed xxx

Nousername2015 · 22/11/2015 16:58

Flowers mrsd and cloud, we're here with you for the rest of this. Definitely see someone if you're still worried mrsd to help reassure you. 2nd December is so close, I'm sure it feels like time is standing still though but this really is the final stretch!

Sorry to hear you are still worrying disney but things look positive. I hope you manage to get the checks done to try and find the cause of the discharge.

Marchgirl · 23/11/2015 06:44

Glad the scan went ok disney, bit sorry you're still worrying. Hopefully it's something innocent causing it and it will bugger off soon.

Sounds like it could be the mucous plug mrsd. I've all also found that the worry somehow increases as I get further along, Although in a totally different way to the start. Hopefully the decreased movements you and cloud are getting are just the baby moving down so they have less room. Not long to go now xx

cloudjumper · 23/11/2015 10:32

Glad to hear the scan went well Disney, but great that you can take it easy for a bit longer!

I totally forgot that I am having a growth scan this afternoon, so hopefully, all my worries will be soothed (also, I was getting lots of kicks and punches movements over the weekend, so I'm sure it'll be fine). I'm just hoping they won't tell me I have a giant baby because it certainly feels that way at the moment!

DisneyMillie · 23/11/2015 11:02

Glad the movements have picked up cloud - hope you have a great scan this afternoon x

cloudjumper · 24/11/2015 09:52

All good with the scan! Measurements, fluids etc all as they should be. Baby currently estimated to be 5 lb, which I am happy with. Anyone want to hazard a guess how much weight they put on on average in 4 weeks? Doesn't matter that much, since I'll be having the section, but I was wondering what size baby clothes we might need...
Today in 4 weeks I'm going to meet him/her! If you told me this time last year that I'd be saying this, I would not have believed you...

Metalhead · 24/11/2015 11:11

cloud I think mine was estimated at 5lb 11oz at 34 weeks, which was pretty much on the 50th centile. I think DD1 was also 50th centile when she was born and she weighed 7lb 6oz, so I'd guess you'd be looking at another 2lb over the next month.

OP posts:
cloudjumper · 24/11/2015 11:31

Thanks metal! DS was 8lb 6oz when he was born (at 2 weeks overdue), so that would make this one positively tiny in comparison Grin

Question - can anyone advise what nasal decongestants you can take during pregnancy? I am really suffering with rhinitis (aka blocked nose for no reason whatsoever other than being pg), to the point I am struggling to sleep! I just want to breathe...

GoTheDistance · 24/11/2015 12:20

Hi ladies, need a bit of handholding please as I have worked myself up into a state...got no sleep last night as I'm worried about everything booking in appointment today.

Just went to the toilet and had brown discharge, which is exactly how last mc started. I know that it could be nothing but I've now convinced myself I don't "feel" pregnant anymore (boobs were ridiculously sore for the last week but now they are much better, still feel sick but I think that's with nerves). Now I'm starting to think is there even any point in going to see the midwife? Last night was the first time I actually let myself think of the actual baby, rather than just a pregnancy, and now I think I've just jinxed myself all over again Sad

dobbythedoggy · 24/11/2015 12:37

cloud you'll want to check but I'm sure I used the baby ones in 2012 when I was pregnant with dd. The chemist recomended it as it was just saline, kind of helped for a short period, made sleeping a bit easier although I used to snort myself awake when it wore off. This time I've got a runny nose mostly rather than being blocked up.
