Congrats fennel! I am just back from 3 hours at the lovely hospital, my waters went last night, only little trickles, but combined with some (not very challenging) contractions every 10 minutes, they asked me to come in this morning to be monitored. All well with baby, they ended up having a look with a Speculum - no 'examination' with fingers or sweep or anything, but they wanted to see if any more water was coming out or whether it was just a watery show. They have decided it was probably my hind waters and sent me home as contractions are irregular and weak (a bit like me afetr lying awake all night!!), told me to keep active and I will have to go in tomorrow morning for Prostin if nothing else happens. ARGHHH!! All very frustrating, but there's not alot I can do, I fancy a sleep but they said keep active! Any hints anyone?

Lesley76 · 22/04/2004 12:03

OOOHH Emma sounds exciting but frustrating!! As you know I'm a first timer so have no advice to give you.......... although if I had been up all night I think i would ignore the hospital and go to bed for a rest. And have something to eat if you feel like it. And get someone over to look after your other children. But then, that's just me........

Jaybee · 22/04/2004 12:05

Emmagee - if you are tired, have a sleep. Baby could keep you awake all night and then you will be really knackered. Once you are up again go for a nice walk - it's a lovely day.

handlemecarefully · 22/04/2004 12:08

Fennel- well done! Itching to read more about the birth now.

Lesley76 - you probably will be in floods of tears with baby blues at some point (I have been) but it passes in a few days, remind yourself of that!

Emmagee - if not today then, tomorrow! Best of luck!

Metrobaby · 22/04/2004 20:44

Hello April Mums. Just to let you know that I had a ds today at 2.43am today weighing in at 7lbs I've posted the full details on the birth announcements thread.

Fennel - our babies came on the same day !! Congratulations on the birth of your new dd.

Lesley76 and Emmagee wishing you all the best too.

CONGRATULATIONS METROBABY AND EMMA!!!

Looking forward to hearing all about the births.

Lesley - You next!!

dot1 · 23/04/2004 09:22

Yeah Fennel!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! Can't type more - fractious baby over my shoulder wanting food..!
Good to see these babies are coming thick and fast now!!

hewlettsdaughter · 23/04/2004 10:21

Good news re Metrobaby and Emmagee!
Lesley - how are you?

Lesley76 · 23/04/2004 10:38

Morning everyone (well those of you who are left????.Sigh)!!

So pleased to hear the great news from Metrobaby - please post more when you are feeling up to it. Do you have a name yet for your beautiful daughter?

Any news from Emma? I keep refreshing the birth announcement but nothing yet.

HD - bless you for asking. I'm physically well - not a single sign of ANYTHING!!! But really really down today. No logical explanation for this - I?m only T+6 & I know first babies are usually late. Just getting a bit discouraged. Doesn?t make sense - I have loads to do around the house, wonderful supportive DH and am not too big or uncomfortable so can still get out and do things. Have to see the consultant next Wed so still have 4 days to start on my own. Self pity really......

How are all the new mums & babies doing? Guess you are all pretty shattered feeding round the clock?

I?m watching carefully for all your Bf advice as I haven?t a clue what to do???.!!!

dolbear · 23/04/2004 11:22

hello all the real me here again , finaly home and happy ds is good feeder and sleeper as predicted

positive vibes to all of you and I hope all is ok , will post details on the anouncements board
love to u all

Fennel · 23/04/2004 11:37

congratulations Metrobaby and Emmagee!

looks as though we had mumsnet cybertriplets!

we are doing well here, Calista has taken to breastfeeding with much enthusiasm, and we all got plenty of sleep last night too (really hope that continues but I know it probably means she hasn't quite got going on regular night wakenings yet). I am enjoying being able to sit down with no stitches - had lots both other times so this is quite a treat

Lesley, it is really horrible being late isn't it even if as you say it shouldn't be such a big deal, it still is. hope things start for you soon.

Toots · 23/04/2004 14:23

Lesley, if you can't be self-pitying when you're waiting for an over-due baby....

Please believe me when I say that waiting for dd were some of the worst (16) days of my life.

Hang. On. In. Must be soooooooooooo hard when everyone on your thread seems to have gone pop!

Just remembered 'Snails Pace Race', it's a toddler game that I think JanH was recommending someone get. The game has two winners, the snail that comes first AND THE SNAIL THAT COMES LAST. You could still win Lesley!!!!!

Thought that might sound inspiring and profound, but reading it back, it just sounds daft

Anyway, loving thoughts fly out to you Mrs

Lesley76 · 23/04/2004 16:54

Thank you Toots, it doesn't sound daft at all!!! You are so sweet to try to cheer me up!! I just keep telling myself that the baby will come when its ready...........

I'm so terrified of the labour and birth its probably sheer terror that keeping it in

beansprout · 23/04/2004 16:58

Lesley, I am due in Oct and am terrified by the whole prospect too. It must be a really mixed feeling to be willing it on but scared at the same time? I hope something happens for you soon, all this waiting sounds really tricky.

Snails pace race sounds fab. I will mention that when I get bigger and can't beat dp in races up and down our hall way!!

emmagee · 23/04/2004 17:40

Baby Stanley born last night at 11.12, 7lb 10oz. I haven't slept since midnight wed, so will do details tomorrow. Suffice to say it was quick - got to the hospital 8pm, he was born 11.12, second stage was 6 pushes!!!!

Lesley76 · 24/04/2004 09:50

Is there anyone out there??????

If so just checking in to let you know that NOTHING is happening here..... sigh

Hope all you new mums are recovering from the birth and all babies are eating & sleeping well! And of course that big brother and sisters and not too jealous. And most importantly of all..........that none of you have MURDERED your mothers or MIL who have come to "help"

I may not have a baby yet but at least i don't have my in-laws to visit ...tee hee

hewlettsdaughter · 24/04/2004 10:27

Well done Emmagee and welcome to Stanley . Hope you got some sleep last night.
Lesley - hi! Sorry you've been feeling down, I hope it all happens for you soon! Our new dd is lovely, the only problem we are having is re breastfeeding. Start twiddling your nipples now to prepare them! (and maybe it'll bring on labour too...)

hewlettsdaughter · 24/04/2004 10:37

PS Didn't murder my mother (who has gone home now - coming back when dh's paternity leave finishes). Did get annoyed though when I was relaxing in a nice lavender bath and could hear her on the phone to someone discussing my hormonal state at the time...

motherinferior · 24/04/2004 10:40

Lesley, you WILL get there, babe
xxxxxx

Fennel · 24/04/2004 10:55

Hello Lesley,

It really does have to happen for you some day soon, however unlikely it feels.

hope you can think of some nice things to do this weekend.

like the others I have bleeding sore nipples but apart from that all is fine and actually I love this new baby stage despite all the hassles and discomfort.
my experience of breastfeeding is you might as well toughen nipples up by rubbing very hard with a cheesegrater for months beforehand. gentle twiddling is nothing like strong enough preparation!

sent dds out with my sister and parents today. sister just phoned to say dd2 has chickenpox! such good timing....

hewlettsdaughter · 24/04/2004 10:57

A cheesegrater! You may be right there (sorry Lesley!)

bluecow · 24/04/2004 11:32

Hi all. Am now mum of two. So sorry not to have posted earlier but have had the most frustrating time not actually being able to get onto Mumsnet.

Lily Anna arrived at 9.10pm on Wednesday April 14 weighing 8lb7oz, just like her brother Luke did! I was induced on my due date (cos I'm so old and the consultants - much to all the midwives' utter amazement and indignation - said because of my age I shouldn't go too far over my due date). As it happened when they examined my cervix it was soft so we decided to go for it!

Prostin gel in at 10.30am; 5 min apart contractions from 2.30pm; waters broken at 7.30pm; Lily arrived at 9.10pm. I was on the birthing ball when I had the urge to push and daren't get off as I knew she was coming so fast and was afraid she'd fall out on her head! So three pushes and she arrived - a bit blue because of the shock of the quick entry into the world. I had second degree tear but seem to be healing ok.

She's got a shock of strawberry blonde hair and is a real dolly. First few days hard as she is a party girl who wanted to feed for 6 hours one night but she seems to be settling now. Poor little mite has a cold though - how unfair. Big brother Luke (18 months today) a little apprehensive but being quite good with her.

Forgotten how knackering it all is and now with two tinies really have my work cut out.

Many congrats to all other April mums and let's hope the rest of the babies arrive soon!

hewlettsdaughter · 24/04/2004 11:39

Yay bluecow! Great news! Thanks for posting and welcome to Lily Anna!
