Hope nobody minds me starting a new thread, but the old one was taking forever to load.

Who is still waiting? It's just that the thread has been very quiet of late.

I am having this baby, the day afer tomorrow (c-section), when are the rest of you due. Sorry I can't remember

Agree with HD, you really aren't being unreasonable. the thing is your baby's not actually doing anything weird or wrong and nor is your body. It just doesn't necessarily correspond with hospital timetabling. that's quite normal ... 'you can't lay a straight line against something organic' (as they used to say at art school when giving us grades!)

as I mentioned I also have an apprehension of being induced: don't know if your reasons are same as mine or not but it really sounds like your body's doing a pretty good job and it would be great if you felt it was your decision if you do go for it. As you say, to meet your baby on Tuesday would be so great.

Chin up girl, don't be downhearted... You can always try for a couple more days with monitoring because they really aren't allowed to force you into anything. But above all don't feel like you or the baby are not doing the job right because you SO MUCH ARE!

Thnak you so much - I nearly cried when i read your comments. Have talked it over with Dh - he's really worried that if i don't go in to hospital on Monday something will happen to the baby ie that the placenta will suddenly disintegrate or something. He's scared by all the statistics that the risk of still birth doubles after 42 weeks ( I'll be term plus 11 on Monday so only 41 weeks).
I don't know why I don't worry the same way - perhaps because the baby is still so active i feel sure he's OK.
I think I will call the hospital and see if i can go in for monitoring on Monday and if the results are Ok, hold off for a day or two. Not sure if DHs nerves can stand it............

hewlettsdaughter · 03/05/2004 11:19

Good luck Lesley - and get dh to post and let us know what's happening if you can't!

MrsDoolittle · 03/05/2004 13:12

Goodluck from me too Lesley!!!

Fennel · 03/05/2004 19:02

Lesley, hope it's all going ok. Did you postpone the induction in the end? I was going to with mine, from term+11 to term+14 but it's nerve-wracking as you say when they make you feel you're putting the baby at risk.

It's not silly or trivial to mind so much - it's horrible to get this overdue. and so annoying to have a month more pregnancy than many others have.

good luck whatever you chose to do, hope the baby comes soon...

Hi everyone. I've not gone into hospital today as instructed as i THINK I'm starting on my own. Worried it might just be psychological of course. Have had more of a show and pressure and crampy period type pains fairly constantly . Every 20 mins or so for the last 4 hours they got worse for a short while.

I really really hope this is it and its not just in my head. I assume the only way to find out is to wait and see if they get worse??? Waters havent broken yet and baby is still moving about so I guess he's ok.

I'll no doubt be awake a lot tonight so will post with any progress and get your wise advice.

Lesley76 · 04/05/2004 08:07

Hi. have been up all night with contactions every 15 mins for the last 15 hours. they have't got longer or more intense or closer together. Even i can tell I'm making little progress here. Am giving up and going into the hopital. sigh

will get DH to post news later

thnaks for all your good wishes and support

Toothache · 04/05/2004 08:18

Lesley - Good luck. If you go into hospital in the early stages like this then they might break your waters for you and you'll be a Mum in no time.

Keep us all informed!!!

Good luck, babe
xxxxxxx

Fennel · 04/05/2004 09:38

Lesley, good luck!

am logging on specially to follow your progress so do get dh to post! It sounds good if you are going into labour spontaneously, however slowly, that means your body is ready and even if you're induced it should be a more "natural" birth than induction when body not ready.

ps you can't necessarily tell by strength or time of contractions how you're doing. I had no idea with any of mine. With dd2 thought it was going fast and it was slow, with dd3 was convinced we were getting nowhere and suddenly we were there.

don't know why I'm talking to someone who's in the hospital anyway.... good luck again

Metrobaby · 04/05/2004 09:50

Wishing you all the very best for today Lesley. I haven't had a chance to post over the last couple of days but I have been thinking of you. Please don't feel too disappointed - it sounds as Fennel says - that your body is going into labour on its own. You must be very excited - not long until you meet your new baby

Lesley76 · 05/05/2004 02:58

Lelsey's DH is please let say that baby arrived at 2357 hours Tuesday may 4 after a 30 hour labour. Mother and son now resting.....
