Hope nobody minds me starting a new thread, but the old one was taking forever to load.

Who is still waiting? It's just that the thread has been very quiet of late.

I am having this baby, the day afer tomorrow (c-section), when are the rest of you due. Sorry I can't remember

Lesley76 · 17/04/2004 13:46

Hi everyone! well i'm here to complain - this is my due date and baby is NOT here yet.He was conceived in the morning so is DEFINITELY several hours late already.I'm having a few crampy niggly pains but nothing more and pretty sure its psychological. But enough to make me cancel plans for this afternoon that involve a two hour round trip on my own with 4yo and hang around closer to home.

Dh is doing his version of nesting ie rewiring the lights. DDs being very trouble free so trying to relax a bit.

How are you alll feeling? Any action? Where is the news of all the babies due this week?

hewlettsdaughter · 17/04/2004 18:23

Hi all, not much happening here - although I did wonder if the baby was moving down a bit earlier today as I was starting to feel that bowling ball between the legs feeling - it might just have been that my ligaments were aching though, as I'd been standing up making carrot cake (inspired by MrsD!).
Lesley, I hope you have given your baby a good talking to for not being on time

emmagee · 17/04/2004 19:23

Nothing happening here either except the ususal which I am trying not to imagine into anything else, due tomorrow so should give birth in about 2 weeks!! Feeling very crotchety towards husband!!

Lesley76 · 17/04/2004 19:38

HD - i have indeed. According to DH , it CANT be his baby as he is always on time. This is one of his delusions BTW but we have to humour him...........

Emma - sems like we are all a bit fed up with our DH/DPs...wonder why.....

Cnat believe there's no word yet of more April babies

Was interested in this stuff about the hospital recalculating your dates. My real EDD is today but the hosp date is not for another 5 days (they know its wrong by the scan but won't change the paper date unless its more than 7 days out). I was banking on them keeping their fake date and not hassling me about being induced for quite a while yet

MrsDoolittle · 17/04/2004 19:40

CONGRATULATIONS HMC Another April graduate. You sound so well after the birth!!

Fennnel made me laugh as I read about her deteriorating relationship with dp, I remember this well. One of the first things dh said to my parents after the birth was he was looking forward to getting his wife back and not feeling he had to put up with my bad temper!!
Peppergirl - did you find any similarities to my rambling description of a sweep? I would be interested to know as I have never met anyone else who has had one.
Goodluck to all you ladies who are being induced. I didn't want to be induced but I was so happy to have my baby I couldn't give a fig now!!

MrsDoolittle · 17/04/2004 19:46

I have started an April babies thread under parenting. Anyone up for this? We are still waiting to hear from Debbiethemum.

emmagee · 17/04/2004 22:53

DH thoroughly redeemed himself this evening. We have been trying to be really thrifty for months, money is tight and we are trying to be uncharacteristically sensible, but tonight I couldn't bear the thought of pasta or risotto or vegetables, I wanted red meat!! So at 8.30 off he went to Tesco's - (15 minute drive into town, we live in the sticks!) to buy all ingredients for Steak and Chips! I made Bearnaise sauce while he was gone and we had a fantastic, decadent supper, great bottle of wine and to hell with the budget for a change!! My daughter has just arrived back from her few days away in Devon with Granny and I loved tucking her in, I really missed that the most whilst she was away, so now I am off to bed, full, happy and hoping that the baby will come soon, but being philosophical about the reality of that dream. night all

Fennel · 18/04/2004 11:06

Lesley, that link HD posted to the homebirth website has links to papers and statistics on induction, also NICE guidelines which hospitals and midwives are supposed to follow. The articles (I've been reading up this weekend...) strongly recommend using the scan date not the dates date (I'm like you it sounds, scan date 5 days before dates date). and these articles and guidelines also strongly recommend NOT being induced until 2 weeks after the scan date. They argue that only 1.5% of women naturally go more than 2 weeks over the scan date but 9.5% of women go more than 2 weeks over the dates date - in other words scan date a far better predictor.

I am going to print out the NICE guidelines and take them on Tues to make sure I don't get pushed on this. wasn't too anti-induction but reading all the guidelines it does seem a bad thing - far higher chance of intervention and especially of caesarian. and not noticeably safer for the baby.

oh guess what, still no baby here... had a nice day yesterday saw lots of friends etc. also not arguing much with dp the last couple of days. continuing with the prostaglandin treatment to no avail....

handlemecarefully · 18/04/2004 12:39

Hi all,

lol Lesley re yesterdays post and your baby 'definitely being a few hours late' because he was conceived in the morning! ...I guess by now he or she is >24 hours late - very inconsiderate!!

I hope everyone is feeling okay and not too beggared off with the joys of late pregnancy.

If it makes you feel any better, my new ds woke up 7 times during the night. He seems to have confused night and day in his little baby mind.

Since its day time he is asleep now, so parents and dh have taken dd out on a little excursion so that I can rest - but you can't force yourself to sleep just because you have the opportunity can you!

Still sending you all positive vibes hoping that we get another April baby very soon.

littlerach · 18/04/2004 13:37

Congrats, HMC, hope it all went well.

hewlettsdaughter · 18/04/2004 14:30

Hi all, HD here dictating to DH cos am uncomfortable sitting down! Had a baby daughter last night at home as planned, all very quick, midwife arriving about 15 mins before baby! Will post more soon...

Metrobaby · 18/04/2004 16:16

Congratulations HD ! Another quick labour on the April thread. Fingers crossed it will be the same for all of us.

Nothing happening here I'm afraid. But maybe I should make carrot cake too to get things moving.

Fennel · 18/04/2004 17:54

Well done HD! looking forward to hearing the details.

am officially sulking now (not cos of HD's dd, just fed up personally). it's my birthday tomorrow, I'll be one week overdue and can't think of anything fun to do given that I am enormous, tired, bored, angry, not able to drink much, and can't eat later than about 6pm without going hypo.

have put on half a stone this overdue week. I did that with dd1 but thought it was due to massive chocolate consumption at that point. This week I have been swimming and aqua-aerobicing 5 times, gone cycling and walking a bit, not eaten loads and still put on another half stone (making 3 stone up since a year ago). NOT FAIR!!!!

(slinks back under stone to sulk in private )

but the carrot cake theory is interesting, may try that tomorrow.

dolbear · 18/04/2004 19:55

congrats to HD !!!
sos from the dolbear front have discovered mass amounts of mucus ' sos to any of those who r eating ' not coloured though , tons of it , is this a show , baby feels a bit different as well , no pains just lots of discomfort v low in thye pelvis as a 1st timer not too sure what to make of this , HELP please

Toots · 18/04/2004 19:56

Happy birthday to you Her Fennelness.
This one may not be the best birthday ever. But just think, next one, just by association, even if you spend it in the cupboard under the stairs, will seem very fantastic indeed.

Hope you manage to have a nice day/a baby.

Fennel · 18/04/2004 20:00

Toots - LOL!

Dolbear, I think it is a show even though they are often pinkish brown with a trace of blood I don't think they have to be. a hopeful sign for you then...

Lesley76 · 18/04/2004 20:36

Dolbear - oh I do hope its a good sign....sorry as another first timer i have no idea either......just to send you lots of hugs and good wishes

happy birthday for tomorrow Fennel

many congratulatiosn HD - so pleased that you had the birth you wanted. Please let us know more when you have time

dolbear · 18/04/2004 20:36

thanks fennel , i think so too
hubby 1 hour away at the mo , but i think we are safe at least for a few more hours ha ha

Metrobaby · 18/04/2004 20:54

fingers crossed dolbear that it could mean that things are starting for you. With my dd, labour started with a show - although mine had blood in it so I was told to go to the labour ward so that they could check it out. After much waiting around I was sent home later in the day - only to return later at night with regular contractions ......

Happy birthday for tomorrow Fennel. LOL - Toots !

dolbear · 18/04/2004 21:35

ooo-er thanks for the advice MB , best get that job list done , then again , maybe not

Metrobaby · 18/04/2004 22:05

I still have a long to-do list dolbear. I've now given up on it.

Fennel I have to say I am very impresed with all your energy levels doing exercises and looking after your 2 dd's. I'm finding doing normal everyday run of the mill stuff utterly exhausting in itself.

emmagee · 18/04/2004 22:43

Dolbear, the mucus can come away over a period of days, but it's definately a good sign that your cervix is up to something! If it's blood stained it would be worth calling your midwife just to keep her/him in the picture. I have been incredibly uncomfortable all day and am hoping that something is going on too but am off to bed with low expectations! see you all in the morning

Lesley76 · 19/04/2004 09:47

Morning everyone and happy birthday Fennel. Hope you?ve thought of something nice to do today & someone will help you out with the girls. Dolbear, Metrobaby ? anything happening? Where is the news of these new babies? Hd ? how was your night with your new daughter?

Needless to say, I?m still here with no signs of anything at 40+2. Have hospital antenatal apt today ? should I expect anything different from the usual waste of time???? At other appointments they only do EXACTLY what the GP does (blood pressure, urine, feel my bump & measure it and listen to the baby?s heartbeat). Why I have to make a 1 ½ hours round trip, plus often wait for an hour to do this is beyond me!! Last but one time I was seen by an infant doctor who admitted he didn't know anything as he only started in obs 3 days before!!!!! At least GP is female, has 2 kids under 5, a sense of humour, knows me/ our family, sees you on time and is 5 mins away!!!!!!

So will anything different happen this time? Will they do a scan? Let me talk about my birth plan or put it in my notes? They wouldn?t let me do this before as the baby was transverse so they just kept saying it was irrelevant i.e. I would have to have a c section anyway. Is there anything I should ask them to do?

Bless his heart, DH offered to come with me today but of course I said no I?m fine. This is a major deal for him as he HATES hospitals (with good reason but that?s another story). And as he?s self-employed, it means he would have to work for a couple of evenings to catch up on half a day?s lost work time.

Thanks for the NICE guidelines Fennel ? I will go armed with this info just in case they start to hassle me about induction. I thought I was safe as by the hosp dates I?m only 39+4 but you never know?

Metrobaby · 19/04/2004 10:12

happy birthday Fennel. How is your day going??

Lesley - not sure exactly what they do when you are overdue. Is your baby head down now ?

Its my due date today and guess what - absoloutely nothing. I feel cheated. I really did think baby would come before its due date. I am hoping that it comes before Thursday as my parents are off on holiday then for a week and they would be looking after dd if I was in labour. Which means it could get a bit tricky on the childcare front if baby arrives after.

Ooo - I hope the baby comes soon as each day passes I am getting angrier and more stroppier with dh and my parents and anyone else for that matter ...

Lesley76 · 19/04/2004 11:29

Hey Metrobaby - sorry you are having such a bad day! Have you spoken seriously to your baby & told it its time? Have to say i tried this at the weeked with no success. Also sex isn't working ( though does seem to help me sleep......!!!!). Dont like curry & pineapple just gives me heartburn! Obviously exercising doesnt work - look at Fennel - she does LOADS and runs around after 2 toddlers and is still overdue!!!

My baby has been head down for the last 2 1/2 weeks and is 4/5.I think he may have moved down a little as i feel more pressure in my pelvis. But apart from a few crampy pains at the weekend I have nothing...............sigh
