Hope nobody minds me starting a new thread, but the old one was taking forever to load.

Who is still waiting? It's just that the thread has been very quiet of late.

I am having this baby, the day afer tomorrow (c-section), when are the rest of you due. Sorry I can't remember

OP posts:

Morning girls - hope you are all well. I'm still here with not a twinge. Due date is tomorrow. Am taking consolation from your experiences of no advance signs of labour and hoping that something might happen in the next few days. Physically I'm really quite well, am even sleeping at night - must be the P therapy!! . So i shouldn't really complain about baby not coming yet.

Also have no plans for in laws or out laws to come and "help" so that reduces the strain a bit. Fortunately DH can take some time off and work from home, and we have 17yo DSS who is very helpful with looking after 4yo.

Will be watching the board today for news of new babies - from Debbiethemum, Bluecow, Dolbear,Metrobaby?? Peppergirl,Fennel, HD and HMC - I get the impression we are all still waiting...and waiting.......

Sorry if i've missed anyone..........hormones and all that.....

hewlettsdaughter · 16/04/2004 09:29

Hi Lesley, you sound quite positive today
I have just heard that the plasterer is coming round on Sunday morning to plaster our third bedroom - so this baby is likely to start trying to arrive either Sunday morning or next Thurs, when the new bathroom floor is being fitted...
Wonder when we'll hear about those babies that were due to be induced yesterday?

Fennel · 16/04/2004 10:23

Yeah, still here....

Toots, your post made me laugh. Dp thinks I am mentally unhinged and is treating me like a potentially dangerous lunatic. Patronising behaviour which really makes me see red! Am not crazy, just very very pregnant. and on a rather short fuse - woe betide any naive first timers at aquanatal class today who dare tell me they had an easy birth, or quick birth, or an early birth, because they did yoga or kept fit or ate pineapple or something

HD they don't have fixed deadlines for induction here, often suggest about 10 days over but you can argue for 14 days or longer even. depends how much you want to wait. Will not think hard about induction til next Tuesday when I'll be 8 days over and have a consultant's appointment. plenty of time before then for dd3 to emerge...

for you homeless ones with april babies already, lucyjones has a thread on the breastfeeding section (called "nipple shields"

Metrobaby · 16/04/2004 10:42

I am still here too. Enjoying a day of lazing around as dd is at nursery today so I can catch up on all those boring things like housey stuff, bills, sleep and a bit of mumsnetting of course

During most of this pregnancy I have been a stroppy mare - particulary now as i am fed up of not being able to bend down and getting exhausted so easily.

Lesley76 · 16/04/2004 12:53

HD ? what is it about bathroom floors?? Ours only got finished last week. You are right of course, the baby will decide to come when the plasterer is there. BTW plastering is REALLY REALLY messy, esp if they have to pull down bits of wall first. You will find plaster dust inside boxes inside cupboards at the other end of the house????..sorry

Yes I am feeling a bit more cheerful today. Have resolved to treat the delay as a positive thing i.e. I can get things done. It helps that I?m feeling much better than I did two weeks ago, prob coz I?m sleeping and my body seems to have adjusted to the baby?s head being engaged so I don?t have so many crampy pains & the large poo feeling isn?t so bad (sorry folks but that?s the only way I can describe it!!!)

Fennel ? practice here on being overdue seems to be that they start to nag you about it at 7 days. At 10 days they try to get you to come into the day unit to be monitored & by 14 days they try to scare you sh1tless by telling you your baby is at risk & you need to be induced NOW. Who knows what the official policy is???. You would THINK that this would depend on the individual woman and preg. I guess they will hassle me more ( first time ?older? mum ha!!) than you, with two normal deliveries under your belt.

Metrobaby, enjoy your relaxing day. I?m off to have coffee with my lovely SIL, who has kids of 2, 4 and 6 so has been there & knows all the right things to say??????bless??????

Unlike our husbands/partners who all seem to be in the dog house this week!!!!! LOL Toots

hewlettsdaughter · 16/04/2004 13:01

Thanks for the plastering advice, Lesley - we had the dining room replastered a week or so ago, though, so know what a mess it can make (unfortunately!). Thing is, if I haven't had the baby by Sunday (and I will still be before my due date then), I think I would prefer to get it done then rather than when the baby is here.
Anybody see this article in the weekend bit of the Guardian last Sat (re nesting, house improvements etc)?

hewlettsdaughter · 16/04/2004 13:06

Fennel, if you do end up thinking seriously about induction, there's some info on the Homebirth Reference Site if you haven't seen it already.

dolbear · 16/04/2004 13:07

heelo peeps , still here
still 3/5 down. no movement , MW has decided not to ook me in for induction this week , but if no action by next thurs then....
due date is today and no action yet
dh i have to say has been v sweet and has been doing all housewaork and running around , shopping etc in fact at times been a litlle TOO much , but then we are never happy are we ?

dolbear · 16/04/2004 13:12

had to laugh at last apt , had some embarassing q's to ask re strange bottom symtoms , turned out to be simple hemeriods , how silly did I feel !
re parents and IL's have mamaged to keep all at arms lenghth with a little effort , this one is 2st grandchild all round , so have been a little smothered , not v good at womanly stuff at the best of times so have found it all v tiring , but still

hewlettsdaughter · 16/04/2004 13:18

Hi dolbear! you had a reprieve then!
Do you want to share your dh around?

MrsDoolittle · 16/04/2004 14:18

Gosh look at all this cyber activity!!!
I am not getting much opportunity to post at the mo - my milk came in on Wednesday and Hell, don't I know about it???
Think I'll go and have a chat to Lucyjones over at 'nipple shields'.
Goodluck Ladies

dolbear · 16/04/2004 14:27

you know thats what my girlfriends say ! thing is they don't have to live with the hyperactive crazy guy
gues i should'nt complain , but at times it gets a bit much , three fone calls a day and if i pop ot without letting him know ,ooof

Fennel · 16/04/2004 14:45

hey Dolbear, a week ago I was wittering on on another thread about how wonderful my DP was!
There's nothing like an extra 8 days of pregnancy to tone my enthusiasm down a bit.

thanks for the links about induction etc. there's definitely quite a lot of choice, if you're reasonably sure what you want. but that can be next week's concern if necessary....(will see you all on "induction" or "nipple shields" thread, depending )

handlemecarefully · 16/04/2004 15:08

Hi all,

Lesley - although you sound chirpier today, nevertheless big hugs ((((((lesley)))))) re your disinterested and unhelpful parents and parents in law. That must be really disheartening.

Had the baby at 17.16 yesterday (and was home later the same evening) - he was 4 days early (since he was not due until Monday). He weighs 8lbs 7oz and we've named him Christian. His big sis has taken okay to him (wants to fuss over him / kiss him) but gets incredibly frustrated and very upset when we won't let her hold him (we can't let her do this - would be irresponsible since she is only 21 months old). I also saw her banging her dolls head against the french windows this morning!!! (crikey, I hope that isn't subliminal 'acting out'

Lots of positive vibes being sent to all of you still waiting - and I hope I haven't pissed you off too much by jumping the queue and delivering early! Really hope it happens for you all soon, and that you have a really easy labour like I did.

handlemecarefully · 16/04/2004 15:09

That was supposed to be a bracket i.e. ) rather than a rogue smiley!

Metrobaby · 16/04/2004 15:14

Congratulations HMC. I'm glad everything went well for you. Well done.

Fennel · 16/04/2004 15:26

HMC congratulations!

that was very quick! did your parents' arrival send you into immediate labour? maybe I will have to invite mine up after all....

Suspect I will have to get used to some queue jumping.

hewlettsdaughter · 16/04/2004 15:32

Great news HMC! . Glad the birth was so different to your last. All the best for the first few days/weeks (keep posting if you can).

peppergirl · 16/04/2004 16:00

HMC big congratulations ! hope to hear how its all going soonish...

saw consultant and had a membrane sweep this morning - not pleasant at all - and a distinctly odd experience having someone digging around quite that deeply !

Also rather strangely they recalculated my due date based on my 1st scan and now say i'm 8 days overdue rather than 6 - am booked for indction on day 13 - next weds - at least i now have a date beyond which things will happen. been having some odd twinges but nothing consistent.

Strangest of all I'm told i'm 3cm dilated - doesn't that mean i should be at least having some contractions instead of sitting here contemplating whether to have yet another blueberry muffin ? someone please advise !!!

Metrobaby · 16/04/2004 16:22

i'm not sure Peppergirl about the contractions but when there is a blueberry muffin around I would take it - after all you'll need the extra energy for the labour

dolbear · 16/04/2004 17:11

i would def go for the blueberry muffin !
big congrats to HMC you sly thing you ! well done and soo glad to hear that there are easy normal births out there , gives a 1st timer hope
dh last day at work 2day which means I will have a whole 2 weeks with him at home , maybe he won;t b so wonderful by the end of the fortnight !

dot1 · 16/04/2004 19:53

CONGRATULATIONS HMC!!!!! Lovely to have another April baby here - and fab name! Also glad your dd has taken well to baby - our ds still isn't so sure, although asked to kiss him for the first time today, which brought a lump to the throat!

Can't believe our ds2 has been here for a week now - seems to have been forever, but also flown by, if you see what I mean. The breastfeeding's still going really well, but it's hell when he latches on..! Everyone with experience tells me this goes after a few weeks - hope so...!!

Lesley76 · 16/04/2004 21:50

Wonderful news - congratulations HMC and family & welcome to baby Christian. Please post and tell us all about it when you have time.

emmagee · 16/04/2004 22:28

HMC well done, very jealous!

Peppergirl, when I had sweep with baby no.1 the consultant said I was 3 cm and then, even more weirdly, told me I was having a contraction which I couldn't feel. Baby was born 3 days later! Get lots of rest and eat energy rich foods.

Fennel · 17/04/2004 08:50

Peppergirl, let us know if the sweep worked. I get the impression they only work if you're about ready anyway, like sex and all the other things.

was it their choice to recalculate your due date, and why? I'm interested cos my "dates" due date was today, but I was sure I conceived early in cycle and 12 week scan confirmed this putting me 5 days ago. but I could use the date due date to push for later induction if I felt like it.
