Off to see a friends newborn son today - am hoping some boy squidges might get my uterus contracting! Will be the first baby boy I will have encountered since I found out I was having a son. Totally dont know what to do with boy ones so will be asking her lots of questions.

Good luck for today fissa

duvetfan · 14/10/2014 09:28

Congratulations Goats and Errr. Lovely news. Good luck today Fissa, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

ohthegoats · 14/10/2014 11:23

Well done Errr, congratulations. The full moon stuff would appear to be bunkum!

There is a woman in labour in the bed next to me right now bbecause no room on antenatal - frankly it's too godamn soon for my ears To hear 'just breathe through it'! Flash backs...

duvetfan · 14/10/2014 11:48

I know how you feel think. I didn't find out but when ds was born I did have a 'a boy? what do I do with one of those? ' moments. I suspect I will feel the same if this turns out to be a girl. Grin

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 14/10/2014 14:46

Oh my word, friends baby boy is divine! Totally settled into babyhood, and she is just doing so so well. I was so chuffed to have some sleepy baby snuggles.

hartmel · 14/10/2014 16:31

I think I will join again! Second day of having lower back pain, pressure down below and last night the contraction came between 3-10 min.
When I got a Braxton hick the pressure was more on top of my stomach but now it is below and sometimes I get sharp pain down in my cervix as if any minute my water will be gushing out!

38+3 weeks! Fingers crossed! Since getting pregnant I had the feeling that this baby will arrive in the 38 weeks. Maybe I'm right Grin

duvetfan · 14/10/2014 20:54

I have my 40 week appointment tomorrow. Are they likely to do a sweep? I was in a different system last time round so don't know what to expect. I just want it to get going.

devoncreamtea · 14/10/2014 22:27

I think they might in some areas, you could ask? I have sweep on thursday - bit nervous as never had one before...felt so tired and achy today, can't decide if the pain of birth is a better situation than the pooped-ness of late pregnancy....

duvetfan · 14/10/2014 23:37

I will ask tomorrow but hoping they just offer (unlikely I think). I am with you on the tired and achy. I have been feeling yuck for 9 months, its time to move this baby out. I am under no illusions as I have a toddler, but I need to not feel as sick and sore. Good luck on Thursday devon- I hope it works. Smile

Fissawissa · 15/10/2014 01:31

Update - I'm at home in early stages of labour Wine
Basically today I had a vigorous sweep which done the trick! Contractions every 7/8 mins apart so far.
Had a meltdown with the Dr & told her my fears of a c section. Have now been accepted back into birthing centre (horay!) and will take it from there. If things don't progress induction tomorrow at 2pm.
Hopefully things progress!

yay fissa hope things keep going for you!! duvet i have my 40 week appointment today and am being offered a sweep, but it does depend on area. My sisters jealous because she was an undiagnosed breech and they found out at her first sweep at 41 weeks! (different area). So full of aches and pains and twinges atm im not sure id recognise very early labour :/ hope your appointment goes well!

FoxSticks · 15/10/2014 08:22

Morning everyone, Fissa that's great news about the birthing centre and that you are in early labour!

Congratulations Goats and Err! Goats I'm very jealous of your birth, that's exactly thebirth I wanted. Instead I was hooked up to machines because of meconium whilst my whopper came at shuttle express speed! Ah well, you can't always get what you want.

Glad you enjoyed your snuggles hacked, I hope that gets things going for you. Same for Hartmel and Ruth, fingers crossed your twinges and aches lead to something soon.

Duvet - all of my friends who have had a baby with existing toddlers this year have said a new born with toddler is much easier than toddler and heavily pregnant so fingers crossed. My midwives only offer a sweep at 40 weeks with first baby and if it's your second or subsequent you have to wait for 41 weeks.

We are still in hospital. My little boy developed breathing problems on Monday night and it turns out he had fluid in his lungs and had inhaled meconium. He was transferred to SCBU and has been there since, but is responding really well to antibiotics and is off his glucose drip and I am feeding him now. My little girl got discharged yesterday morning and is at home with DH. He has to give her medication every four hours so he isn't getting away without sleepless nights thankfully Grin. I'm hoping we will be able to go home on Thursday - fingers crossed.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 15/10/2014 08:28

Hope your little one has a speedy recovery Fox and good to hear your DD is now home.

Good luck today Fissa cant wait to hear of your new arrival Grin

Neices birthday party today so I dont mind if the baby decides to wait another day so I dont have to miss that!

devoncreamtea · 15/10/2014 08:55

wow! Good luck fissa - excellent news about a sweep actually working: hurrah! fox sorry to hear about your tiny, hope you are all home today.

duvetfan · 15/10/2014 12:29

Good luck fissa. Ruth and fox thank you for replies. Had my appointment but no sweep. They only do them when the head is engaged and just like ds this baby is head down but not engaged. I am glad to hear your sister said a toddler and newborn were easier fox. my lack of mobility means I just feel useless. Thank you so much ladies and good luck to anyone else who is waiting or making progress. Smile

duvetfan · 15/10/2014 12:33

Fox wanted to post this separately as I am on my phone and can lose bits of messages. Sorry to hear your ds is a bit poorly. They are tough wee cookies though so hopefully you will be home soon. Glad your dd is on the mend. what a stressful few days. hope you all get to cuddle up as a family at home soon. Thanks

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 15/10/2014 17:22

Hows everyone this evening? Ive got a very uncomfortable fanjo - feels very bruised and got period type aches. Sick.of "symptom spotting" though only for it to be nothing.

Dh has come in with dinner (inc wine so am treating myself to a glass later while wr watch Apprentice), and ive retreated to bed for an hour while he and dd do drawing.

Am as comfy as Im ever going to get!

duvetfan · 15/10/2014 19:38

Think, I feel the exact same. I don't think the midwife feeling for the head today has helped either. sounds daft but at this time of night I just keep thinking 'make it tomorrow' so I can go to bed. guess I am fickle. Blush

hartmel · 15/10/2014 19:57

Slowed down at my end!
Only thing when baby moves it feels like my water is going to break. As I have the feeling she is pretty much engaged. I feel her head by the pubic bone already!

Seeing my doctor tomorrow. Will see what he says!

Eating pineapple, spicy food, bouncing with DS (13 month old) on sofa chair. Just want this baby out.
38+4..
Had a meltdown last night! Probably just from being exhausted. From the on and off contraction, pressure down below and lower back pain. Have this since Sunday evening..

ruth1104 · 16/10/2014 00:09

aww fox Sounds like your family have had a rough time of it, hope everybody recovers quickly and gets home soon! my nephew inhaled meconium during his birth, but after a couple of days in hospital he was home and right as rain, hope the same happens for you.
had an unsuccessful sweep this morning, cervix is firmly closedâ?¦ So fed up that i came home and ate an entire pineapple :/ still feeling lots of pressure and back ache but i have a sneaky suspicion it means nothing.
sorry you're feeling so miserable hartmel! my feeling is meltdowns are just par for the course by this stage..

FoxSticks · 16/10/2014 08:46

Hi everyone, nothing is any easier here. DS has septicemia. He had to have a lumbar puncture yesterday to rule out meningitis, then they found something growing in his blood cultures but it will take up to 48 hours to find out what is causing the septicemia. It's the doctors round in about20 minutes so will hopefully find out more then. He's still doing so well though, you wouldn't think he was ill as he's feeding well and alert. I made the mistake of googling and terrified myself, started a thread on mn and got lots of positive stories from others that have been through this so I'm feeling much better about it today. I'm exhausted though as the little chunk wanted feeding every two hours last night! They want to give him top ups and I'm hesitant as I don't want to damage my supply. My milk hasn't come in yet presumably because of the lack of contact with him and stress. It's craps at the moment.

Hope the rest of the full mooners make an appearance soon and put you poor things out of your misery!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 16/10/2014 08:57

Oh Fox im thinking of you and your little.one. Hope all is well x

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 16/10/2014 10:17

I was having regular pains last night - an hpur and a half of 1min pains, three.mins apart. Came on very suddenly.

I had a warm bath and paracetamols and whilst I still had pain in the bath, the contractions stopped and I was able to go to bed. What on earth do I do now? Im seeing the MW today anyways - do you think she will see if Im starting tk dilate? Im.not sure if these were just painful BH orif it was the start of labour and then it eased off.......

duvetfan · 16/10/2014 11:47

Fox, thinking about you and the wee one. Thanks
Think, keeping my fingers crossed for you. Smile
I am due today but no sign of anything except a rather upset tummy (sorry tmi). Blush

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 16/10/2014 11:51

Oh I heard an upset tummy is a good pre labour sign!!
