QuietTiger I know that feeling. I am no where close to being excited. My best friend was more excited than me. We have deliberately tried to be very cool about being pregnant but it means I am actually so far from being excited. I think I will be happier when I am half way.

fedupofrainydays · 22/05/2014 17:46

cuppa I cried going through my two mcs at my booking in so can't really imagine how tough that would be for you. You have had a hard time and putting it all together and getting it all down on paper is tough. Cake

tiger - I think we all struggle to get excited when pregnant. Literally immediately after my bfp the panic kicked in. It's really difficult as we all know what can go wrong. Even though I'm put of the supposed danger zone I still worry a lot and find it hard to be excited. Just keep taking each day at a time and reciting the mantra - today I am pregnant!

gw try not to worry about your friend. She's coming with all the right intentions and will be there for you whatever. I wouldn't want to do mine without DH either, so can feel your worry- but try not to think the worst (easier said than done I know). I've had UTIs but all with terrible symptoms and not when preg.

Seasides · 22/05/2014 18:19

Good luck baking, hope you get you baby safe soon! How exciting.

English, my 5 week scan scared the crap out of me-just a sac and they made me feel like it was really bad news. It wasn't! Went back a week later and a happy heartbeat, and I seem to have caught up a few days to where I thought I should be now. I know you'll worry, but really all is not lost at all. You poor thing having to wait 3 weeks though, that's rough.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 22/05/2014 18:33

Thanks seasides! Smile I think she just wanted to give enough time so that there should definitely be something there. But I know it's going to draaaag!!

Penguinita · 22/05/2014 20:06

Congratulations from one penguin to another on the scan penguin13!

Here's hoping that no news is good news from baking...

Hello there - I'd like to tentatively join if possible...

I have a pre-schooler, 18 months ago had an early miscarriage, then a late-term loss just under a year ago. After trying pretty much since the recent loss, I've had a week of no period and general underlying nausea so have given in and tested and it's positive.

I'm terrified after my last two pregnancies went so horribly wrong. I'm also wondering what kind of care I can reasonably expect from the hospital for this pregnancy (if it progresses) - I'll be under a consultant for a pre-existing condition but obviously want to do everything in my power to have a living healthy baby at the end...

Any thoughts/advice would be very welcome.

Gwlondon · 22/05/2014 22:33

Hi, itscurtainsforyou. I don't know about consultant led care in hospital. I see a consultant but not at the hospital.

I am sorry my previous long post was so miserable I am a bit up and down at the moment. Right now I feel fine.

Thanks fedupofrainydays. I just hope it goes well.

bakingtins · 22/05/2014 22:35

No news is pretty much no news here! Grandma is installed in the spare room, I've had very intermittent twinges all day but not going anywhere, more show this evening. Have spoken to delivery suite but am staying at home for the moment, baby baking happily kicking about. Have had a bath and will try to sleep - this is what happened with DS2 then it all kicked off massively in the middle of the night. Wish me luck!

Gwlondon · 22/05/2014 23:10

bakingtins good luck!!!! Exciting times. Grin

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 23/05/2014 05:58

Baking, I cannot believe we're waiting for you to pop! Your pregnancy has gone so quickly (as an outsider). Good lack, hope it's not too horribly humid & sticky where you are! X

Dropped off the thread, so loads to catch up on! Booking appointment & 12 wk scan in the next few weeks!

fedupofrainydays · 23/05/2014 07:23

curtains sorry to hear about your losses. Being pregnancy again is terrifying so we can all identify with what you feel. I'm not sure either re care post losses - I have a consultant this time too but mine is cos of previous tear. I had early support from the EPU up until 12 wks tho after my losses. Did You get to know the cause of the later loss? That would help determine what care you might need?

Go baking!! Fx it got going in the night x

Bricking it... Anomaly scan in 4 hours.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 23/05/2014 07:51

Goo luck baking! Hope all goes smoothly! Smile

And good luck for your scan Fedup!! I'm sure all will be absolutely fine!

MrsGiraffe12 · 23/05/2014 08:02

fedup good luck at your scan

baking I can't believe it's almost time for you to meet you baby. Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly. We will miss you here and all your lovely advice when you go to the grads board

As for me, think I better call me midwife for monotering. Had a pounding headache all day yesterday and my codydramadol did nothing and I still have it now. Had it hammered into me that any symptom of pre eclampsia has to be reported. Realistically I know I'm probably ok as DS was a 32 weeker with the PET but signs started at 28 weeks and am almost 25 now. But better safe than sorry I guess

Hello to all the newbies, hope you have boring and uneventful pregnancies x

Cakebaker35 · 23/05/2014 08:18

Welcome curtains and very sorry to hear of your losses. I'd see you're gp soon and discuss your care but it sounds likely you would be under a consultant.

fedup good luck for your scan x

giraffe hope you feel better soon and the midwife is able to put your mind at rest!me sensible to get checked out..

So not much to report here apart from very sore boobs! I've never had this before with either pregnancy so it's a bit odd. Also I'm around 5+3 so this would've been the week I mmc'd before, feeling very paranoid. Off to see my gp the week after next and may consider paying for a private scan around 8 wks as I doubt I'll be referred for one.

Cuppachaplz · 23/05/2014 08:46

Morning lovely ladies.
Thanks for all the kind words yesterday, so sorry yo be great wet lettuce.
I'm feeling much better today as after a good cry last night, I realised that having to write it down heads revealed most of my losses (all bar 3) we're at 6 weeks, and these three had very obvious and defined causes. Being nearly 8 weeks, have decided to take this as a hopeful sign rather than a reason to cry, because toda I am pregnant :)

giraffe hope you are soon feeling better.
baking hope to got some sleep and that you meet baby baking soon
curtains welcome, so sorry to hear of you losses. The only thing I can offer with regards to care is to ask your GP to refer you to EPU gor early care and reassurance, which they should do with your history. At booking in, your MW will refer you ongoing care. She can advise based on which risk boxes you tick, but you get an input too. Good luck
fed up best wishes for the scan
drfunk makes it all seem a bit more real doesn't it? Good luck

pgchimp · 23/05/2014 08:50

Good luck to fedup for your scan today and to baking for some possible baby news.

I have today and Tuesday left at work and am literally counting the minutes! I have no energy left for work! 38 weeks on monday, so hoping he stays in there to give me at least a few days of no work before his arrival.

Welcome to the newbies - the panic and fear never really goes away but at least you have support on here.

squizita · 23/05/2014 09:14

OMG my cheapo Clexane needles are rubbish! Got different ones this time.

They bleed. And bleed... stained my trouser leg! Angry The one time I wore light summery colours in... ever! Well I guess thats's what happens anti-coagulant + cheap wide needle that scratches.

Seasides · 23/05/2014 09:39

I'm on tenterhooks for baking! Can't wait to hear, hope no news is now good news.

Off down south to my sister's on Monday for the week, she's due on the 7th. I know it's awful, but her (accidental) pregnancy has been so hard to bear until now, and now I just can't WAIT to meet my new niece! Delighted this is my last day of work for a week too, even though I only work 3 days a week just now (journo, ft jobs hard to come by). Hoping it'll help the time until 12 week scan pass quickly.

Seasides · 23/05/2014 09:41

And welcome curtains, I am so sorry to hear of your sad history. This must be very scary for you, but there's wonderful support here. I do hope this time goes totally smoothly for you.

Penguin13 · 23/05/2014 09:49

Welcome Curtains. I'm so sorry about your previous losses. I'm afraid I don't know anything about consultant care although it does sound like the sooner you get in the system the better, not least for your own peace of mind.

Good luck for your scan today fedup how exciting.

Cuppa I'm sorry going through your history with the mw was so difficult but I'm glad writing it all down has helped you feel more positive about getting to this stage. You are about as far from being a wet lettuce as it is possible to be by the way. Managing to muster your posifrickentivity after a day like that is pretty blinking impressive IMHO.

Giraffe really hope you are feeling better soon. Definitely sounds like the right thing to get it checked out as a precaution.

Chimp you are so nearly there! Tuesday will hopefully mainly involve sitting around eating cake, being given cards and generally waved off Smile

amicablemoomin · 23/05/2014 10:24

Welcome curtains you will find this a great place to air your worries and get lots of support and handholding. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

cuppa yesterday must have been so hard, but its wonderful to hear your posifrickentivity!

Giraffe glad to hear your are calling midwife, defo better safe than sorry.

cake definitely do talk to your GP about an early scan, and explain your anxiety etc. I know a lot depends on the area, and how busy they are and even the individual person that you see but it is definitely worth a shot - and you know you have the backup option of paying for a private scan if necessary. on the boobs, mine are the same still (9+4). My friend hugged me really hard last night and I almost passed out in pain!!!

good luck to fedup and others with imminent scans....

Can't wait to hear from baking

LondonJen · 23/05/2014 12:15

Congrats Penguin!! Excellent news.

English I do hope the 3 weeks speeds by.

Cuppa that must have taken a lot of strength. You should be proud of yourself. Take it easy and look forwards now to the next milestone.

GWLondon do lean on those friends if you need to.

ooo the suspense Baking! Good luck!

Fedup thinking of you today. Yes, we have been using 'Bert' and 'Bertrude'!! And are quite good at saying 'he' for a few days, then 'she' for a few. I will try to keep in that frame of mind!

Hi Curtains I'm sorry I don't know what kind of care you can expect either but you will find lots of support and handholding here.

Hope all is well MrsG

MrsGiraffe12 · 23/05/2014 12:21

Hiya. Called the midwife and she said to pop along to clinic this afternoon for BP etc to be looked at. She was very determined that I go. Will update later. Thanks for all the well wishes x
