Glad you're no longer suffering with the sickness Nerdy

Hopeful that's such lovely news of a girl, aw, yey!

Hi Amanda congrats on your bfp! Best advice is to vent your knicker checking anxieties here to get them of your chest and make other plans to distract yourself. The early weeks are hard but you will find lots of support here and there's quite a lot of first trimester ladies on here at the mo. Also, have a read back through the thread, you will find so many people saying exactly what you feel. That made me feel understood and less alone.

HopefulHamster · 28/05/2014 13:44

Amanda all I can say is try not to worry and then don't beat yourself up when you do anyway!

As for me just had some hummus for lunch but noticed after a couple of bites that it tasted funny. Best by date was today, but it travelled home with us in the car yesterday and back to work today. Now reading loads about listeria risk and have scared myself after getting so far into the pregnancy.

Can someone slap me please?

Seasides · 28/05/2014 14:52

Just wrote a long slappy post to you hamster and lost it! Basically, best before isn't use by, and even then they're so cautious the food is generally fine for days beyond that, and it couldn't have gone off that quickly in the car. It would have to be pretty minging to make you sick, I think! I'm pretty laissez faire about those dates generally. And lots of things we eat have been known to contain the bacteria-butter, cooked sliced meat, pre-prepared sarnies. Also, most cases of listeriosis are mild, it's rare for complications to arise. So don't worry, you'll both be fine!

Seasides · 28/05/2014 14:52

P.s. yay for knowing the gender, I can't wait to find out!

Seasides · 28/05/2014 14:54

Congratulations on the bfp Amanda, I second the other's welcome-lots of similarly nervous ladies here, know just how you feel!

joosiewoosie · 28/05/2014 16:12

Thank you for your messages lovelies! I had a phone call from EPU saying the consultant won't scan me till 11th as he doesn't have any clinics for the next 2 weeks. Two weeks!

On the upside, at least there'll be a definitive + or - answer then as at 8 weeks there should be a clearer pic regardless of the fibroid. Also, I haven't had any bleeding today, so that's something. Just gotta hope the cramps lay off and I have no more bleeding til then!

I guess that if all progresses well, they'll be able to get a clear date from that scan, which I can then use to book a Harmony test for 10 weeks. We had the Harmony at FMC with the last pregnancy ( as we had 1:13 odds of Downs with my dd, leading to amino), but I mc before the results came back (which incidentally they could not give as not enough fetal DNA detected).

Just gotta try and cultivate a PMA, as it's the ONLY thing in my theoretical control at the moment anyway x

amicablemoomin · 28/05/2014 17:33

joosie TWO WEEKS!!!? But great news regarding lack of bleeding. And the cramping could well be uterus expanding and can be totally normal so try not to worry too much about the cramping. I agree on the PMA, it is all you can do and at least allows you to do SOMETHING...

Some salmon coming over hamsters way.......

Amanda, congrats on your BFP! today we are pregnant Smile

fedupofrainydays · 28/05/2014 18:00

Any word from penguinita?!

Penguin13 · 28/05/2014 18:16

Welcome Amanda and congratulations. You're definitely in the right place for support when you worry.

Joosie I can't believe you have to wait another two weeks but your positivity is truly admirable.

Really happy to announce that my SIL gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy today. 8lbs mum and baby both doing well and baby decided to arrive pretty much bang on time. Feeling a bit teary as my original EDD would have been tomorrow but really happy for SIL and BIL. We might even get to go over later for some newborn cuddles although new mum and dad might think better of their spontaneous invitation to come over!

TeaRex · 28/05/2014 21:43

Hi ladies, sorry for the bad news but just back from hospital, started bleeding and passed a large clot just after 6pm, they've booked me in for a scan tomorrow lunch time but I think it's just a formality. Sorry to bring the thread down but was just wondering if any of you had been through this and been okay? Unlikely I know :( xxx

Penguin13 · 28/05/2014 21:48

Oh Tea I'm so sorry. I've not been through the same thing myself but I have heard of others passing clots with an eventual positive outcome. Crossing everything for you and I'll be thinking of you. Good luck for your scan tomorrow x

EnglishGirlsReturned · 28/05/2014 22:10

Tea, I'm sorry you're going through this. Hope the scan shows some good news. Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Thanks

MrsGiraffe12 · 28/05/2014 22:14

tea I'm sorry to hear your news :-( fingers crossed for a positive outcome tomorrow. We will all be thinking of you I'm sure x

fedupofrainydays · 28/05/2014 22:21

Hi tea sorry to hear that. Have you any cramping? I've not experienced it personally but have heard of people with heavy bleeding / passing clots and it being all ok. There is one lady on here who recently passed a clot and it turns out all is ok. Sorry to whoever that was for forgetting your name but maybe you can share with tea?!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 28/05/2014 22:22

I assume no news from penguinita is good news?

tea don't apologise. It's what this thread is here for. Take care tonight and hopefully the scan tomorrow is good news for you. But I can totally understand why you feel down at the moment.

squizita · 28/05/2014 22:41

Thinking of you Tea. I had a bleed in this pregnancy and all was well - some have quite heavy bleeds and it turns out to be an ectropian or something. Fx this is the case for you. x

OP posts:
squizita · 28/05/2014 22:42

PS. Ectropians don't hurt the embryo but can cause scary bleeds.

teaRex I am very sorry. I hope that it works out.

amandaj78 hello! My first trimester has been very stressful and really I wasn't able to stop being scared until today.

I had my 12 week scan today and there was a good heartbeat. All is fine. I am so sorry about how down I have been. I was mostly fine the last couple of weeks but there was some days that were really gloomy. I do feel much better that I can be at normal levels of pregnancy worry now!

Alb1 · 28/05/2014 23:20

tea I'm so sorry, I havnt had that experience myself so can't help but il be keeping my fx for you tomorrow anyway.

penguin congrats on ur lovely new nephew!

gw glad youv had a good scan! Hope it gives you a bit of a break from the worrying Smile

Welcome amanda I found my first trimester very hard and even now at 26+4 I still get paranoid and stressed, but coming on here and realised ur not alone really helps, remember today you are pregnant!

EnglishGirlsReturned · 28/05/2014 23:22

IhavetowaitHOWlong · 28/05/2014 23:47

Congrats on the scan Gw and on your new nephew Penguin
Welcome and congratulations Amanda

fedupofrainydays · 29/05/2014 07:11

Yay to good news gw - and don't worry, I think we are all gloom before then. Only natural for a preg post mcer. I've definately not managed normal levels of pregnancy worry after my 12 wk scan so impressed if you get there!!!

tea thinking of you today. Got a mega busy day at work so won't be able to check in til tonight probs but got everything crossed for you. Xx

Wearing a tighter top today so looking Very pregnant. Worked out I've got 36 days left at work if I leave when I want to so better start telling more people and easiest way is to look it!! Told a few more at work yesterday and got a few nice hugs as they know what I've been through.

joosiewoosie · 29/05/2014 07:31

Tea, I passed a clot half the size of my palm on Sunday. Like you, I thought it was all over, and almost didn't bother going to a and e. I did however, and they took bloods and referred me to EPU for a scan.

My scan didn't show anything conclusive. By that point I was 5+5, and with my large fibroid in the way, they struggled to see anything in the 'cystic area' they identified. I'm still not sure if there's a viable pregnancy in there.

I had repeat bloods done the 2 days after which showed 'an adequate increase'. I was meant to have another scan yesterday to see if anything more dan be seen by the consultant, but he has no clinics for 2 weeks, so I've got to wait another 2 weeks now! I'm trying my hardest not to over analyse any symptoms/lack of, as I don't want to be overly optimistic/pessimistic.

I am paranoid about any moisture 'down there' though! I had dark brown blood the day after the clot, and pink on wiping 2 days after, but apart from that, not much apart from a v slight coloration on the paper when I wipe.

I might try a different route for another scan as I'm not sure I can wait that long to find out if I am truly positively pregnant or not!

I think I'm still pregnant as have not bled heavily like I did in my mc, so hope is all I have!

I'm sharing with you Tea, just so you know you are not alone, and I know how scary it is! Feel free to pm me if you want a more private discussion. Thinking of you and fingers crossed for your scan today xx
