I'd be really anxious if they bothered to call back having reviewed the notes and particularly said about it - can you get a second opinion cuppa either from them or speak to your GP again perhaps? It does seem a bit extreme (especially as it is something you are relying on as helping you in the morning). I know decaff isn't quite the same but maybe give it a go and see if it works for the purpose of first thing? I've given up caffeine completely and found decaff ok but everyone is different.

Hi
Dropped of the thread a long time ago (now have a beautiful 2mnth old baby) but I do still keep a watch.

Just popped on to congratulate Bakingtins. Wonderful news. I am one of I expect many women who appreciated your support on the miscarriage board. Wishing you and your family much happiness.

Lovely to see the huge list of thread babies. Good luck to all on the thread.

MrsGiraffe12 · 23/05/2014 18:20

Congratulations bakingtins

Enjoy the new snuggles! We will miss you on here xx

fedupofrainydays · 23/05/2014 18:20

Cuppa I would try decaf. But yes one cup of tea is fine! I cut out coffee / tea in first trimester as made me feel sick but now back on one coffee a day, two is very tired. Rest is decaf.

So.... We had a good scan! Grin
All looks normal with our baby! We want the suprise so didn't ask to find out gender. Ds was unimpressed and carried on playing with the iPad! - bit it's all weird on the screen so don't really blame him for not recognising it as a baby!

Cuppachaplz · 23/05/2014 18:24

amicable it was a receptionist who called (I checked). She said, 'it says you're still drinking tea, I'd cut that out straight away'
I had assumed it was a recep. Advising to give up anything that might have been flagged, but now worried that she had been told to say that.
I have tried to ring EPU, but emergency team (which this really isn't) until Monday. MW and GP had both said 1 or 2 cups was fine.
Without the antiemetics, I cannot keep anything, even water down, so this is what I use to take it. I drink mint tea and water the rest of the day, I have tried red bush (fine pre preg but now tastes of metal) and decaf (I'd rather drink dishwater, even thinking about it is making me retch despite the meds) I use the cup of tea to take the tablets which enable me to control the HG and thus eat or drink anything for the rest of the day.
Does anyone think I should give the meds a miss until Monday, and just cope with a couple of days of vomiting?

Cuppachaplz · 23/05/2014 18:26

Fab news re the scan fedup :)

EnglishGirlsReturned · 23/05/2014 18:34

Glad your scan went well Fedup Grin

Cuppa - I'd ignore the silly receptionist and listen to the gp and mw. 1 or 2 cups of tea a day is fine and more to the point if its the only thing you can take your meds with please continue. I'm sure a couple of days of pure puking is going to be worse than a cup of tea. You'd end up dehydrated!

Fishcake77 · 23/05/2014 20:08

Congratulations Bakingtins and welcome baby Faith :-)

MabelMay · 23/05/2014 20:56

Oh my gosh. Have been a little absent the last couple of weeks and come back to so much happy news - feel very out of date!

First of all HUGE HUGE CONGRATULATIONS bakingtins! You have come so far and now you are there - what a long road you've been on - I hope you are able to enjoy these early moments and all those cuddles with your newborn daughter. You've been a tower of strength for all of us past MC-ers and I'm just so pleased that you have your happy ending. So great!! Grin

fedup brilliant that scan was all good. Congratulations!

cuppa that's crazy. One cup of tea a day is not going to do the baby any harm. What a silly receptionist. I had one tea a day in my first trimester and now have one or two a day. If I have one coffee I'll allow myself a tea in the afternoon. But don't do any more than two in a day.

News from me: I resisted posting the last few weeks as have been feeling anxious about baby but went in for a routine appointment today (at 16 weeks) with DH and doctor told me we could find out sex then and there if we wanted. So we did. Baby looks great and it's a little boy. This will be DS number 3! I'm not remotely disappointed. I think there's something magical about 3 of a kind. And I'm just so totally relieved that he was there, growing well, heart beating away, looking like a proper little baby. Am really starting to believe now.

Take care all. I'll try and be a more regular visitor from now on.
MMx

Awww, lovely name Baking, congratulations. Hope you are having wonderful cuddles and can go home soon enough.

Curtains bags won't do any harm tho obviously don't hurt yourself carrying things

That's annoying Cuppa, obviously if you're keeping that down it's hydrating you. And I worked out the caffeine as 2.5 cups of tea a day. I only stopped drinking it because warm milk made me gag! But now am back on 1 or 2 a day and if I want more I have decaff but I usually don't fancy more. Personally I think if gp AND mw have said it's fine, keep going, don't skip your meds. Sorry this woman must have really messed with your head, I feel for you.

Lovely news Mabel Grin

Emki · 23/05/2014 22:45

baking how is it going? So so happy for you - I know what a long journey this has been - lots of hugs to you and your family xxxxx

NerdyBird · 24/05/2014 03:30

hi everyone

sorry this will be a selfish post from me. we are meant to be having a nice weekend away before baby comes. DPs sister bought him a hotel voucher for his birthday. we had a nice day, but the minute (literally) we went down for dinner i started feeling funny. at first i thought it was a combo of baby being in an awkward place and being starving, but no. had to abandon first course halfway through to throw up. couldn't even take a bite of main and had to rush back to our room where i threw up all over the bathroom. DP had to eat dinner alone, then come back and help me clear up. spent the test of the evening lying on bathroom floor and was sick god knows how many times. then it turned into diarrhoea, but that hasn't been so bad.

this is the second time in a week i've had this, last saturday was the first. both times has come on quite suddenly with no warning or obvious cause. am worried about baby, although all seems ok. but also worried how i will cope if it keeps happening, eg at work or when out. i have a long commute and only certain trains have toilets and they're the last place you'd want to be ill!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 24/05/2014 04:15

cuppa did she say why you have to cut the tea? I am sure the NHS leaflet thing I was given says 2 cups of coffee and 3 cups of tea is fine (or 1 and 2). I still have a cup of latte every morning and I need it. That's a lot more caffeine than a cup if tea.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 24/05/2014 04:18

nerdy that sounds horrible. I don't know what I would do if I were you. I have a long commute too but by car. There also aren't any toilets on the motorway unless it's at the service stations. Sad

fedupofrainydays · 24/05/2014 07:27

Ugh nerdy that sounds horrid. When is mat leave starting for you? Perhaps consider taking it earlier? If not an option I carried aeroplane sick bags round with me for that very reason. Does something trigger it?

fedupofrainydays · 24/05/2014 07:30

mabel lovely news!! I think I would love to have all boys too (I have one). And pretty sure this one is - so will be quite suprised if it comes out a girl! Totally not expecting that!! Fun of not knowing I guess! Would love a girl too, so either scenario is a win!

NerdyBird · 24/05/2014 08:22

caught up a bit on things.
really pleased for all the good scan news london fedup and mabel
although i don't know how london is going to keep her pink secret!

cuppa don't worry about the tea. i switched to decaff, but this morning i'm having fully-charged with sugar to help with recovery. i think it has medicinal properties!

baking congrats on arrival of baby Faith! hope you're doing well.

welcome any newcomers, hope you'll feel safe here

aMuminwaiting · 24/05/2014 08:28

uh oh, brown when I wiped last night an =d this morning.

fedupofrainydays · 24/05/2014 08:35

amum it can be so scary. How much is there? Brown can be just a bit of old blood. How far are you again?

aMuminwaiting · 24/05/2014 10:44

I'm 8 wks + 3. Only a tiny bit when I wipe. It feels kind of hot up there like after a cut which is weird. I felt cramp for three days so may be this (fingers crossed) is left over from last period. I was just hoping against hope there'd be no blood at all like last time (until my cervix opened). Trying not to freak out.

amicablemoomin · 24/05/2014 11:35

lovely news fedup and mabel glad all went well! Three lovely boys mabel, that will be super, and so much fun.

nerdy how horrible for you, hope this doesn't continue.

cuppa I'm sure the other ladies are right, stick with what you are doing!

Seasides · 24/05/2014 12:00

A tiny bit of brown blood is very easily explained by lots of non-threatening thongs, amum, try not to panic (easy advice to give, I know). Loads of people on this and other threads have had quite severe bleeding and been totally fine-I was told to expect some from a bruise on my uterus wall, it could be something as simple as that. Get in touch with your epu if it continues or is really worrying you though, reassurance is the best thing.

cuppa, I'm with the others . One cup of tea = absolutely fine, receptionists freaking pg ladies out withbad advice = not fine!

GailLondon · 24/05/2014 12:02
