Edie, I had a missed mc with no symptoms at all (in fact every symptom of a strong pg including appalling morning sickness) so don't worry. the tip about watching movies - or reading trashy novels - or whatever else rings your bell and genuinely keeps your mind occupied is the trick. These post-mc pregnancies are very tough to deal with mentally/emotionally, and I think missed mc have their own mind-games, as the very lack of mc symptoms doesn't reassure! I did think after the mc I'll never worry about anything again as I had really big worries about that pregnancy, and then of course I lost that baby anyway, it did prove in a way that worrying gets you nowhere. However, the emotional strain has been enormous - I posted recently how amazed I was that midwives/doctors don't even think about it. This is the best place to let off steam as we have all experienced this - and although it gets better, it doesn't go away, IME - even at 34 weeks, I'm not half as excited as I should be. we're all surfing the wave together

Thankyou Time4Tea. It is very hard isn't it? I go through waves of being very positive then very negative. ATM im thinking, I must still be pg as my boobs hurt so much and I feel so tender low down that I can't cross my legs! However even after my missed mc I continued to feel pg so I don't know. I am going to watch a DVD this afternoon when the decent TV is over. I feel bad for being off work but I wouldn't be able to concentrate and because it's nursing it can be draining and I want to give m yself the best chance by resting.

Thanks for the advice

Uki-Congrats on the scan!!!!

I have been looking through the net for any things i can do to 'prevent' miscarriage! and i know im being silly, but hey, it makes me feel better. Anyhows i found this website that i found quite interesting www.marilynglenville.com/general/miscarriage.htm
Thought you may like a read, even though you have all probably read it before!

So if i am taking a pronatal supplement, can i take selenium also?? would it hurt? and can i take extra folic acid? as that website says folic acid is v important for women who miscarry????

am i babbling????

Firststar, i have decided to cut out caffeine completely! i'm sat here with a mug of hot water
I had boiled pots, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, sweetcorn and steak for supper! I'm trying to be as healthy as i can, and i read that asparagus is excellent for pregnancy!

hello all, got my caesarean confirmed for 19 Feb (this baby is in breach, like DS - another reason to just do it) - so we have a few arrangements in place - the consultant confirmed I would need to be there for 8am, which means we can drop of DS at the nursery a bit early but still do it ourselves, and go to the hospital to get our baby. Still can't believe it - just under 6 weeks to go.

hoping all is well with all of you XXXXX

No i havent been in touch yet, will do it soon though!
How far along are you firststar? how many mc have you had if you dont mind?

3flightsofstairs · 12/01/2007 15:35

Not been on for a little while, hope you're all well!
Welcome honey2theb, good luck with your pg, you're definitely in the right place for support from people who have all been through it!
We're all fine but I still can't believe I'm actually pg some days. Trying to stay in normal clothes as soon as possible (still feel like I might be tempting fate by wearing mat clothes - silly I know but I still feel a little weird about this. Feel like I don't deserve to be pg without having another mc - just my madness creeping out )
Hope you are all well, sorry for being so barking

Hi everyone, had my 5 weeks scan today, they were quite surprised that I was there
as they shouldn't take referrals until you
are 6 weeks and im 5 today. They warned me that they may not be able to see anything at all and most certainly would not see a heartbeat which I already knew.

The nurses that did it were so lovely-the abdominal one didn't see much and the transvaginal saw two sacs but no yolk which they said was probably just because it was too early. They said it could well be twins.

Had some bloods too which I will get the results for this afternoon.

Don't know what to think now...

Hi Firststar. Good to hear from you. I replied to you on the conception thread but will do again in more detail.

Going back next Fri again to see the sac, really hope we do as now im getting very attached to the baby/babies.

Had some bloods too which they are gonna ring me with tonight-don't really know what they were for-I asked if they would show a miscarriage and she said not.

Some websites make out that a yolk is supposed to be visable at week 5 but the EPAU certainly did not seem at all bothered and said it looks like a normal pg so far.

Im nervous but trying not to be!!!

EdieMcredie · 12/01/2007 18:22

Just had blood results and hormone is high and she said it suggests that pg is healthy and fine!!

Uki · 12/01/2007 21:37

HI All
Haven't been keeping up.

FIRSTAR- Big congrat's at getting past 12 weeks that's really fantastic, You must be starting to get into exiting things like names, clothes, and baby products now, Are you finding out the sex?

Good on you for spreading th4 word about the mantra it does feel like you are doing something good for baby doesn't it?
I have to admit I could only really start after i saw the bean, was worried about getting attatched before.

Honey- Welcome, and good luck.

Do we have a stats here? or shall i start one?
