A success story. After more than 2 years of TTC I started to take clomid in september. Didn't bother this month cause dh was working away alot. One quicky on the way to the airport 4 days before ov. On day 42 I took a test yesterday and it was positive. Had to take another to double check. I was starting to loose hope in clomid and was expecting to start IUI next month but after 6 months it eventually worked for me.Can't believe I'm 6 weeks pg!

stac14 · 19/05/2009 10:30

Hi claire
I know what you mean, seems to be everyone else is getting pregnant and not me. But we need to stay positive as negative vibes can cause negative tests lol Hows the house hunting? Still on hold? xxx

claire001 · 19/05/2009 11:09

Hey Stac

Yeah still definetly on hold, We had a look at a new development that is being built at the moment and we will probably go for a house there but they wont be ready till next June so it will give us loads of time to save up and stuff,

Is this your 4 month or 5th? How long has your consultant said you can stay on clomid for? X

lucygrif · 19/05/2009 11:53

hiya guys, glad to hear you're all well. i have only bene updating the other thread so just to let you know i got a BFN yesterday, am on CD33 now and will test again on Thursday if AF is still a no show.
xx

stac14 · 19/05/2009 12:00

Hi claire
Have just finished round 4, Have my consultants appointment on 1st August so probably another 2 rounds of clomid before he will do anything else. What about you? Have they told you how long you will be on it?

Hey lucy Hope your ok hun, I saw you got bfn on the other thread. xxx

lucygrif · 19/05/2009 12:18

hi stac yeah i'm ok, trying to keep thinking positive at least until AF does come lol

claire001 · 19/05/2009 12:50

Hey Stac

The last round i took was cycle 4, When i first saw my consultant she said that i could stay on it for 1 year as im only on it because i dont ovulate but surley if i do start to ovulate every month and still dont fall pregnant there must be somthing else wrong so not really sure what would happen, Have you heard of implanation?, X

lucygrif · 19/05/2009 17:01

AF has reared her ugly head again, poor me

rugama · 19/05/2009 22:34

Hey Ladies,

Well I had my progesterone checked yesterday afternoon and results are in... My range was 916.0 what the hell does that mean... last time I had my Progesterone lab in january it was at 181.0 and doctor thought I was going to be pregos but wasn't and now my numbers are way high does anyone know what the numbers mean.

stac14 · 20/05/2009 11:05

Aww {{HUGS}} lucy Is it next week you see the consultant?

Claire Do you mean implantation bleed? If so this is when you bleed cause the fertilised egg is implanting in the uterous/womb usually occurs around a week after oving. It's nowhere near as heavy as a period but can last a few days. You can also get implantation pain. I think I am oving today so need to keep busy lol

Rugma my levels last month to say I had ov'd were just 21.9 so yours are really high, are they concerned you have overstimulated ovaries? Or are you preggers? They should be scanning you just in case

How are the rest of you ladies??? xxxx

lucygrif · 20/05/2009 11:29

yes next friday 29th

claire001 · 20/05/2009 14:15

Hey Stac

Sorry i ment iui, Dont no where implantation came from. X

lucygrif · 20/05/2009 14:44

i had read that IUI was just as good as IVF however I have since been told by a fertility consultant that they do not offer the service because it is rarely successful!! Don't know what to believe anymore. Any IUI success stories out there??

stac14 · 20/05/2009 22:39

This is what I have found about IUI (sorry for very long post lol) xx

What is IUI?
IUI, or intrauterine insemination, is a relatively simple infertility treatment, where a small tube is used to place specially washed sperm directly into the uterus. You may know of IUI by the more commonly used term artificial insemination (AI). IUI and AI are one and the same fertility treatment.
It is cheaper than IVF
When is IUI used?
IUI may be used in some cases of male factor infertility, like low sperm counts or if a sperm donor is being used. IUI may also be used if the woman?s cervical mucus is less than ideal. Also, in cases of unexplained infertility, IUI may be tried if Clomid (clomiphene citrate) alone doesn?t help.

IUI may also be used if a couple would like to avoid the higher cost of IVF treatment. Even though IUI is less effective per cycle than IVF, a couple may be able to afford more attempts with IUI.
How successful is IUI?
In a review of studies on IUI and unexplained infertility, just 4% of women got pregnant per cycle without fertility drugs, and 8% to 17% got pregnant when fertility drugs and IUI were combined.

Though IVF success rates per cycle are much higher, IUI is significantly less expensive, and a much easier procedure. If IVF is out of your price range, multiple IUI cycles might be the better choice, depending on the cause of infertility. Speak to your doctor to understand all your options and risks.
