Hello Ladies,

I hope all of you had a great weekend.

Currently I am on CD 23 and just today got my trigger shot I will be TTC the next two days... wish me luck hopefully this will be it. I will find out in 14-15 days....

I am on my first cycle of letrozole and it took a little longer for my follicles to grow then with Clomid. Usually at CD 14-15 I am at 16-18mm but with letrozole (Femara) took a little longer but it grew enough atleast it worked...

Wish me luck and hope all of you are doing great.... Much Love, Karen (Rugama)

Hi everyone
I'm new to all this but I am feeling really low. Have an 11 year old already and I am 30 next month. TTC for 6 years now, had an ectopic 4 years ago but I didn't lose my tube and I had a lap & dye a few months later to confirm no damage to tubes. Have been to NHS fertility clinic and was prescribed 50mg Clomid for 3 months (even though no apparent ovulation probs), I am currently on day 25 of my cycle on my 2nd month (5th in total)on 100mg Clomid. Initially I had 2 blood tests to measure my hormone levels and my partner has had a normal sperm result. No idea what to do next, if I get my period this week I will be on my final course of Clomid, after which my only option is IVF according to the Fertility Clinic - not sure why but they have not been scanning me or examining me whatsoever, they literally just gave me the drugs and tell me to come back every 3 months. Sooooo depressed, feel like I only have one chance left. Please advise

X

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 11:43

Also, in November I went to see a Psychic - I had only just been prescribed Clomid and hadn't started the course but he somehow knew and asked if we had been discussing IVF. Apparently he was told by a spirit that we don't need IVF, and that plenty of good old rumpy rumpy (his words) will do the trick!! He also knew about my ectopic and said I would have had a baby girl. He said he could see two babies, twins or perhaps my sister and I (she was with me) would have one at the same time. was really strange given that clomid increases the chances of multiple births - how could he know all this?? He seemed sure we would conceive and even told me not to bother dieting until afterwards!! lol. He said one of the spirits was knitting for us but he wouldn't tell me what colour

Clwc · 12/05/2009 13:20

Hello and welcome (back) to everyone.

lucy Have you been told why you are on Clomid? There's another Clomid thread on this site that has had a lot of input from ladies with all sorts of different reasons and situations: here.

There could be many un-tested reasons why it's not working for you. I wish I could advise you, but I'm no expert. The only thing I could really advise is reading the other thread and finding out what other tests can be done with you and your DP.

Oh, I just noticed that you're not being monitored. That's not good. You should, at the very least have a CD21 blood test to check that you have ovulated. They should never just bung you on 6 months of the stuff and leave you to it! I've just taken 2 cycles of Clomid. They were prescribed by my GP, but shouldn't have been. I wasn't monitored, and the worry that caused me has been unbearable. Is there a different clinic you can go to nearby?

IVF is not your 'only' option, and it may not be that to get (long wait, fobbing off, etc), considering you have one naturally-conceived child already. Was s/he conceived with your current partner? Anyway, there are different drugs to take, lifestyle changes to consider, IUI, etc.

Read as much as you can about your symptoms. Perhaps you can suggest some more tests to your consultants. They aren't doing things right. Nag them for better monitoring too.

Clwc · 12/05/2009 13:21

*...IVF may not be that easy to get.

Sorry

Clwc · 12/05/2009 13:23

...As for me, I'm quite sure I have AF again now. Bizarre as it's only CD17 ish.

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 13:47

Thanks Clwc

I asked them why I wasn't being monitored and they just said they don't have the facilities to do this. Apparently I will be thoroughly investigated at IVF stage, which we would have to go privately for anyway because I already have a child from a previous relationship.

The only reason they gave me for being on Clomid is for "unexplained infertlity" as they say there is no explanation for us not conceiving.

I only had 2 blood tests at the start to ascertain if I had ovulation problems which they said I don't. After that they just left me to it.

I also asked what other tests and/or medication was available to me and they said nothing after the clomid - that I would simply be referred to an IVF clinic, or that I should find one on the internet!!!

Was worried they weren't doing it properly, now you have confirmed it. I have my final appt on 29th May after which they say they cannot help me further.

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 13:49

I am aware that my cervical mucus can be hostile to sperm, and this can be a problem, but I can't seem to get any thorough tests out of the NHS!! I have also been told that different blood groups between partners can affect fertility and I am Rhesus D Neg. Am at my wits end, they just don't seem to want to help.

rugama · 12/05/2009 16:37

Hi Stac14,

I found it a lot easier on letrozole no side effects like clomid the only thing is that the follicle took longer to get to 18mm but its still okay I am on CD24 and receive my trigger shot yesterday. (2.5mg 2xdays for 5days) so far so good I am TTC now.....

Clwc · 12/05/2009 17:12

lucy,

As your child is from a different partner, it may be that there are subtle abnormalities with your new partner's swimmers.

'Unexplained infertility' is usually due to docs not bothering with all of the tests (on both partners) necessary to discover the real cause.

As you are ovulating normally without Clomid, I'm not sure how it would help (Many women are put on Clomid for the same reasons as you. You're not the only one, but it baffles me). Your clinic really should have been more thorough with their tests, diagnoses, and monitoring. Clomid is definitely not a drug that can be left to chance. OHSS would be the first thing to worry about in an ovulating woman, let alone increased risk of ovarian cancer.

Clomid may also exacerbate the problem with your hostile CM. There may be natural remedies for this, while you wait for your next course of action (e.g. grapefruit juice, egg whites, etc). Problems faced by sperm on their journey to the uterus can be by-passed when IUI is tried. (IUI = intrauterine insemination)

I hope the private fertility clinic is more thorough and honest with you. In the meantime, read the other Clomid thread I mentioned and also check out www.fertilityfriends.co.uk

Well, I would have been CD18, but I just don't know anymore, what with all the sporadic bleeding, which has now become heavy in the last few days. I'll just have to see what happens in a month from now

Moo - CD 3
Stac - CD 5
Claire - CD 20
Folie - CD 24
Rugama - CD 25
Carly - CD ??
Clwc - CD ??
DM1970 - CD ??

So you still have AF, stac?

Clwc · 13/05/2009 17:36

PS I'm glad to see that lucygrif has heard from Attila already

stac14 · 13/05/2009 18:04

Moo - CD 3
Stac - CD 6
Claire - CD 20
Folie - CD 24

Hi clwc just changed list a bit I am on CD 6 and still have AF day 3 of clomid, its been so heavy and showing no signs of easing up. Did you mention to the other GP about the mid cycle bleeding? or is that something you go through regularly? Yeah I thought of atilla as soon as I read lucy's postxx

Aww lauren he sounds lovely, my wee dog thinks hes a baby too. Whens your op? xx

Hey claire carly rugma folie and DM1970 how are you all?

xxx

Clwc · 13/05/2009 18:54

Oops. Sorry stac.

I did mention the bleeding, but she was so determined that I shouldn't have been prescribed Clomid, that I think she just glanced over the fact. That's why I got on the phone to the NHS helpline.

Prior to being diagnosed with PCOS, I would have very light, irregular periods. They would last about 3 days. 4 days max. Since the second lot of Clomid, I have been bleeding light - heavy, brown - red (tmi) almost every other day. Now it's heavy, it's like a proper one, that 'normal' girls get, with all the pain and everything.

Crikey...If Attila knew about me, she'd have a fit! lol. xx

Laurenl502 · 13/05/2009 20:27

rugama · 15/05/2009 18:39

Heys Stac14,

I got the trigger shot on monday my folli was at 18mm but the tech had a problem finding my left ovary.... it was under the uterus... I am wondering if thats going to be a problem when I ovulate seens it was that side that had the biggest follicle.... I am a little worried... but now I will just have to wait patiently...

claire001 · 15/05/2009 19:44

hey rugama,

No you will be fine, last month when I went to the consultants and was ovulating it was under my uterus aswell and she said it wouldnt cause any problems, X

Clwc · 16/05/2009 01:05

Hello stac,

The bleeding became very heavy over the last few days. This morning was the worst: All of a sudden (tmi warning) I passed a mass of tissue. Scared me, it did But after another chat with the NHS helpline, I calmed down a bit. Anyway, it seems to have slowed now. I have no idea what's going on. Perhaps I shouldn't TTC so hard for a while. Until my head's straightened out.

That's all I can say really. I hope everyone is well and has their head screwed on a lot tighter than mine! xx

folie · 16/05/2009 15:33
