Hi

Not sure if this has been done before but am due to start clomid next month and could do with some happy stories. Please let me know why you were prescribed it and how long it took to get pregnant.

I know i am in the wrong thread but didn't get a response on ttc thread. As hopefully you are all here.

Many thanks

Hi stac,

Sorry I missed your post. No, the GP isn't monitoring me. All she's done is write me a script for 15 tabs @ 50mg. I think she knows, though, that if anything feels odd, I'll be straight down there, nagging her to fix me!

xx

stac14 · 16/04/2009 17:04

Hi Clwc
My Gp didnt do much monitoring just CD 21 bloods to see if I had ov'd which I didnt on 50mg or 100mg but now my consultant has me get my bloods done cd 21, 28 and 35 in case of late ovulation. Claire gets scanned on day 10 and bloods day 21. IT saves you having to guess about oving and also lets you know if you need a higher dose. A friend on another thread goes mad if she hears someone on clomid without monitoring especailly with pcos as it can cause you to grow more cysts which obviously is bad for us. Hope you don't think I am preaching. Have you been referred to a gynecologist or a fertility consultant? xxx

Hey Claire
Still no af, but I am going to wait till monday then start clomid, checked the leaflet you get with clomid and it says if you havent had af it is safe to start as soon as so that put my mind at rest. How are you today? xxx

Clwc · 16/04/2009 21:30

Hi stac

There has already been so much too-ing and fro-ing that I got sick of it all. The consultant I was initially referred to for my ultrasound was a complete cow and insinuated that I'm a couch potato. I was supposed to have another appointment with her 6 months later, in which time I should have lost 1.5 stone. I think you and I both know how difficult that can be, and no amount of cutting out chocolate or playing on the WiiFit would have shifted more than a few pounds. (Why am I being so honest?)

Anyway, I didn't receive a call back, so returned to my GP. She's a sensible doctor, and she's very nice. She seems to know what she's doing.

I've seen some of the posts from the girl you mentioned. I'm on page 4 of that thread. Only 36 to go! She has a lot of good advice.

In the end, if the prescription I have been given doesn't work, then I'll give up trying and sort out adoption.

Which cycle of clomid are you on now?

xx

Hello all, I hope all of you are doing great.. I was reading the thing about Egg whites... Any of you tried it yet... LOL... sounds weird... ---- Keeping hopes up.. I get my blood prego test on tuesday... If i am not I will have to move on to letrozole I've already went over the amount of clomid to be given at 200mg.

Wissh you all the best and will keep you updated with my results....

stac14 · 16/04/2009 22:58

Hi rugma
Good to hear your keeping well, defo let us know about blood results would be lovely to hear of BFP

Clwc (what does that mean?) Theres nothing worse than a crap consultant, to be honest I havent had a great response from consultant either but I am trying to persevere. I am starting my 3rd cycle of clomid on Monday my consultant is keeping me on 100mg as he says going any higher can be dangerous, this month though I took provera to induce af but 9 days after the last pill its still not here so I have to go ahead without it (read the leaflet you get with the clomid which says this is fine) but I am hoping it comes over the weekend. The ladies on the other thread are as great as the ones here, its good to have people who know what your talking about.

Claire How are you today hun? If you dont come on, on Monday when will you test? keeping fingers and toes crossed for you

xxxx

Clwc · 17/04/2009 11:27

Hello stac,

'Clwc' is a Welsh word, pronounced 'clook'. You can almost figure out what it means from that. lol.

Luckily, I didn't need to take provera (or similar). AF visited twice in 3 weeks! Probably because she hadn't turned up since last October.

I'll try to wait until the 28th before pg testing. My GP is off on holiday soon, but she advised I visit the other female GP at the surgery around that date too. The other GP might be a bit more efficient. She was the one who originally suggested PCOS. If I'm not pg this time, I think I might ask for extra supervision (tests, etc) from the other GP.

Did anyone get the clomid side effects well after the first 5 days of taking it?

xx

claire001 · 17/04/2009 13:07

Hey Stac

Im having bad stomach craps today so think its on its way (bummer) but there is always next month,

I feeling low today, I went to go and see my grandad last night and he is looking terrible,It was like looking at someone i dont no, I think he recognised me coz i got a big smile when i walked in, They have said he should have about a week left but it all depends on him, He is under a do not resusitate and they think his kindneys will be the first to go, So its just a waiting game now. X

valz · 17/04/2009 15:56

Hi Stac

Your right i hadnt bled since i come off the pill in dec 07 and my doc never prescribed anything to bring on a bleed before i took clomid. I remember posting on the thread at the time and alot of people thought this was strange as most docs prescribe something like provera etc before clomid. Id do as your doc instructs unless it was something very strange and you wanted a second opinion. Hope all is well with you ladies, welcome to all the newcomers

Folkestone · 17/04/2009 17:48

I started taking Clomid in December and after 2 cycles I fell pregnant. I also have two other friends who fell pregnant using this drug.

Good luck!

stac14 · 17/04/2009 19:06

Hi Claire Sorry to hear about your grandad and af, sounds like a rotten dsy maybe a wee glass of wine will help.

Hi clwc Sounds like you have a plan you seem far more laid back about it than I have been lol. I had mood swings, hot flushes on the clomid but I had cramps too

Hi valz Thanks for the info, just been to the loo and I am spotting now so no need to worry, must just take a while for af after provera

I love hearing sucess stories makes you think its all worthwhile

xxxx

Clwc · 18/04/2009 01:21

Thanks Folkestone. It's great to hear stories like that. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and happy baby/babies.

Hello valz Thanks for the welcome

stac Perhaps 'plan' is too strong a word, but I think you're right about me being laid back...Almost horizontal, methinks. Might be the clomid or my lazy thyroid. lol.

Where abouts in Scotland are you? I lived near Loch Lomond for a year and a half. It was nice, but rained quite a lot. The lochs (and the one lake) were beautiful, and I most enjoyed visiting Callander.

Claire I've read the updates about your Grandad. It's a sad time, but remember that you don't have to stay strong for everyone else. Take some 'me time' as often as necessary. And good luck for the next cycle.

stac14 · 18/04/2009 16:37

Hey clwc
I am from Glasgow, we were on holiday at Balloch a couple of years ago, its a lovely place. Where you from? I went to Rhyll and Swansea when I was younger its a lovely place

Hi claire are we back to being cycle buddies this month? How are you feeling? hope your ok, keep your chin up chick, clwc is right try to stay as relaxed as possible, thinking of you

xxx

Clwc · 18/04/2009 22:08

Hi stac

Balloch was 2 miles from me. I was in Renton, and worked in Greenock. I'm from Newport, but live in Caerphilly now. That means I'm almost a valleys girl!

When do you expect to start your next lot of clomid? I think I'm due on soon. I just have that feeling. A bit gutting really.

xx

stac14 · 18/04/2009 22:48

Hi clwc
Dont get too down heartened by it, at least if you come on you know you have ov'd and that it will eventually work. I start the clomid tonight even if I don't fall pregnant this month I am just hoping I ov as I havent over the past 2 cycles so keep your fingers crossed for me. What cycle day are you on? xxx

Clwc · 19/04/2009 02:23

It's only CD 20. I thought I noticed some spotting earlier this evening. There was something anyway, and I've been getting aches that almost warrant a hot water bottle. I also had a giant hot flush earlier (I've had those for at least 2 weeks though). Perhaps I'm just getting mixed signals from my body due to taking medication that tricks my brain!

Time will tell...

xx

stac14 · 19/04/2009 18:43

Hi Clwc It could be implantation bleeding and cramping. How are you feeling today? Is CD 20 normal for you to come on?

Hey claire How are you today? Has AF arrived? hope your ok. Last month what did you do with your clomid again?

Hey rugma and follie how are you 2? not heard from you in a while whats been happening?

I started my clomid again last night felt a bit nervous but thinks thats because I have never ov'd on it yet and really hope I do this month
XXXX

Clwc · 19/04/2009 19:11

Hi stac

Do you remember your last pregnancy? Did you discover it right away, or was it a few months in? Did you get spotting and cramping of that type?

I think that pre-clomid, had I not have missed so many periods, they would have been every 4 weeks. It's a bit tricky to explain, but when I did come on, it would always be at approximately the time I would have expected it. Except when I did in March...twice.

Now that I've taken clomid, I have no idea what that would have done to my cycle. Perhaps we should all invest in a crystal ball!

xx

Clwc · 19/04/2009 19:16

PS I found out from an article about an acupuncturist that BDing should occur between 7pm and 9pm. Also, we should all be in bed by 11pm!

Thought you might all like to know that.

xx

stac14 · 19/04/2009 19:26

Hi Clwc
I found out quite early on as we had been trying for a baby. I took 3 pregnancy tests and they were very faint then I showed my siter in law at the time and she said I was. But I had a lot of cramps and my boobs ached. As soon as the doc confirmed me being pregnant I got morning sickness lol. The spotting and cramping can be normal in early pregnancy

I like you was always regular as clockwork every 28 days even when I wasnt on birth control which I stopped last April and now haven't took a natural period since, my gp knew this was irregular for me so he sent me for all the bloods and test were I was diagnosed with pcos, so now we are on the clomid train as I haven't ov'd naturally (phew huge post lol)
xxx

folie · 19/04/2009 20:17

hello girls,

How have you been doing?
Stacy: does your gp give you a trigger shot as an extra help for ov?

For me, i am still waiting for af! this is cd 35 and i still don t have the af symptom. The waiting is killing me, i really want to get started now. Have a lot of hope!
xxx

stac14 · 19/04/2009 20:44

Hey folie

The doc doesn't give me trigger shots he is leaving me to it basically. Have you been given anything to induce af? I was given provera to start me off and it took 12 days so I ended up on CD 51 nightmare lol

xxx

folie · 20/04/2009 09:43

Hey stacy,

Just had my period this morning! finally! the doc didn t prescibe me anything to induce them. But good! i can get organise now. It has been 9 months that i have tried naturally without ov, so i am so excited!
