Hey Brandy
I have only taken clomid the once and the doc told me to take it before I had menstrated so i think he kind of messed up when I was to take it. I have polycystic ovary syndrome so I am expecting it to take a while, we have been trying since april last year. Thanks for the encouragement, anything you need give me a shout. XXX

thanks.. do you get your period? and how long are your cycles? maybe you should try and take your dose on days 2-6.

what is polycystic ovary syndrome?

claire001 · 30/01/2009 12:43

Hi Girls,

I need some advice,i had a letter from my consultant yesterday saying that i need to go for a mri scan to see the shape of my womb (they think i might have a bicorniate shape)
The only problem is they say i should not have sex from my last period because you cant be in early stages of pregnacy because it will harm the baby.

Iv finished taking my clomid 2 nights ago and i dont want it to be a complete waste of time me taking the clomid.

Do you think i should cancel the scan or go for it?

valz · 30/01/2009 14:30

Hi brandybaby i was on the pill for about 6 years, came off it in dec 07 and hadnt a period at all for a year, so i went to gynae specialist in oct 08 who prescribed clomid 50mg for 5 days, luckily for me it worked on the first cycle, took my last pill on nov 15th and found out the following month i was pregnant with twins. have had a few early pregnancy scans as i had bleeding just before xmas but all seems well. Was in getting my bloods done yesterday and the midwife asked did i want a scan done, i had one last tues and my next wasnt meant to be until feb 12th, so i was delighted to get a chance to have a look again. two wee babies moving about legs and arms swinging, its amazing how well formed they are for all the length of them...3.5cm.

hope its not too long until you experience that, clomid is definately a miracle, stay positive and enjoy the time trying will keep ya's posted.

valz · 30/01/2009 14:35

brandybaby i almost forgot, i was taking my temperature, but around the time the consultant said i should ovulate i took a cold which sent my temp sky high for a few days so i wasnt actually sure if i ovulated or not, i had used predictor kits a few days but they all showed negative. maybe it wasnt the cold put my temp up it must have been ovulation after all.

I think you should go for it! And if you want just remake your apt. You dont want to waste this month of clomid... trust me.
GOOD LUCK! ...and keep me updated!

stac14 · 30/01/2009 16:37

Hi everyone

Claire Have you asked the consultant if the shape of your womb will cause you problems with carrying a baby or while being pregnant, if it does then you should go with your consultants advice.

Brandybaby I have only taken 1 natural period since april 07 the last one before i started the clomid was progesterone induced. Polycystic ovary syndrome means I either rarely or dont ovulate and have lots of small cysts on my ovaries, it is not impossible to concieve just much harder. As I haven't been ovulating at all I have no idea how long my cycles are or even if I will menstrate next month, I had to take the clomid as the doc advised this time but next time I will have seen the consultant and will go with what he says, so confusing lol. If you dont mind me asking why were you prescribed clomid?

Valz I am so chuffed for you, twins thats fabulous, I must admit you are my favourite success story, keeping positive.

I was at the nurse today and I hadnt ovulated on last fridays blood test but by the way the dates work I wasnt due to until 25th so hoping todays blood test shows that I have, keep your fingers crossed for me ladies, dp is knackered

Let me know how you all are xxxx

BrandyBaby · 30/01/2009 16:43

Valz

Thats great! Twins after just the first round! Good for you! When will you find out about the sex? Let me know when you do. I dont check my temperature... but i use opks every month. And I do ovulate every month. I would like you tell you about my grandmother... she though she could never get pregnant at all,she tried for 9 years! The doctors found out that her body was attacking my grandpa's sperm! Her body thought is was a foreign object! So she never thought it would happen. But the doctoers told her to get really sick around the time she was ovulating so that her defense system would be weak. And it worked! She had two biological children and adopted two! Its crazy how everything turns out in the end. Im very happy for you...and I hope your babies are nice and healthy!

I do have to ask you one thing... How did you feel whan you found out that you were having twins? Scared? Were you nervous at all? Please let me know. Thank you!!!

Almost every woman in my family has used clomid to get pregnant. I was ovulating even before I was taking clomid. And my doctor thought that I needed extra help, and I was already trying for a year. I hope that this month the 100mg will do the trick!

Do you have to get the cysts removed? Do they hurt? Want about a higher dosage of clomid for you?

And if your doctors dont even know your cylce and your not getting your period... they how do you know when to take the clomid?

stac14 · 30/01/2009 17:01

Hi brandybaby
I took progesterone to induce a period so that would have been the start of my cycle, from what I have read usually people take clomid day 1-5 2-6 or 3-7 but my gp told me to take the clomid as soon as i stopped the progesterone even though i didnt bleed until 4 days later, I asked the nurse again today if that was ok and she said it was fine as it is to help stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs so hopefully it will have worked, I am seeing the gynacologist on the 9th february so he may decide to change to dosage, its still the first month so not too worried, its just to hear success stories like Valz. I dont think I need the cysts removed as mine aren't as bad as some women have and they dont hurt at all I didnt even know I had it until July last year there are lots of other symptoms related to polycystic ovaries and I dont have any of them (thankfully)
Have you took your 100mg of clomid yet? Is this your first baby? xxx

claire001 · 30/01/2009 19:34

hi girls,

I been reading up on bicornuate wombs on the Internet and it sounds terrible, they say that you won't be able to carry the baby full term coz there won't be enough room for it to grow and if you are lucky enough to conceive them most woman end up having a miscarrage coz the womb isn't strong enough to hold the baby, I think I will put the appointment back till next month so taking the clomid wasn't a waste of time, xx

stac14 · 30/01/2009 20:19

Hi Claire,
What can they do to help you while pregnant if your womb is bicornuate? Do they deliver early or something? I had an internal scan at the hospital which showed my ovaries, womb and cervix, would that not be the same? Sorry to be nosey but did the consultant why he thought your womb was this way? How are you feeling otherwise? xxx

stac14 · 30/01/2009 20:26

Hi Claire,
Me again, was reading www.netdoctor.com about bicornuate womb or uterus and it and from what I was reading it just means a double womb, giving the baby less room but there have been many successfull pregnancies in women who have it, soz if you think I am prying was just curious and worried for you, but by the looks of things you may be able to put the appointment back till after your 2ww. hope your ok xxxx

claire001 · 30/01/2009 20:42

hi stac,

Thanks so so much for saying that, its made me feel a lot better, it really is just one thing after another at the moment, what does 2ww mean? How are you feeling? X

stac14 · 30/01/2009 21:09

Hi Claire,
2ww is a 2 week wait after you ovulate till your period is due. I am fine thanks, just fed up waiting for things lol. I was at the docs today and my blood test last Friday said I didnt ovulate but think that test was too early so had another test today. What you up to this weekend? xxx

claire001 · 30/01/2009 21:33

hi stac,

Hopefully that blood test will show you did ovulate then, I no what you mean about waiting its so annoying isn't it, well my grandad had a hart attack about 1 month ago and he has got to go in for a transplant next week so I'm going to go and see him on Sunday, like I said things are just going from bad to worse at the moment, what are you up to ? Where about do you live? X

stac14 · 30/01/2009 21:44

Hi Claire,
Its DP's birthday on Sunday so we are seeing friends for dinner tomorrow night. Your poor grandad, I'm sure he will be fine though these ops are getting more and more common now.
We're from Glasgow. Where are you from? x

claire001 · 30/01/2009 21:57

hi stac,
I live in hampshire, my mum. Cones from Glasgow, that will be nice going out for a meal, it might take your mind off things for a couple if hours, x

stac14 · 30/01/2009 22:44

Hi Claire
Since I think I have finished ovulating I am going to try to get back to normal for a few weeks, whatever that may be, but try not to dwell on things. Small world your mum being from Glasgow, what part? I am from the Southside xx

claire001 · 31/01/2009 16:10

hi stac,
she comes from port Glasgow, when do you get your results from your bloods? X

stac14 · 31/01/2009 18:44

Hi Claire,
I should get the results mid week, more waiting lol. Whats the next thing you have to get? Havent managed to get out for dinner DP has the bug me and DS had through the week, so he is ill, night in, in front of tv, hows your grandad? xxx

claire001 · 31/01/2009 20:15

hi stac,
iv got to go for my blood test next Friday I think then nothing till I'm on my next period coz I'm hopefully going to have my MRI scan then so I don't have to miss a month on clomid ( so much to plan) its a bloody nightmare isn't it.
my grandad is doing ok, thanks for asking, he is hopfully having the operation to replace his hart valve on Friday

I'm having a night infront of the tv aswell, my partner has decided to go out with his mates! X

stac14 · 31/01/2009 20:36

Always the same isnt it, big plans and nothing happens lol. Just weird having to wait another 2 weeks before finding out if anything has happened. Did you not fancy going out? xx

claire001 · 31/01/2009 21:03

well I wouldnt have minded going but I didn't get an invite! Nice isn't it, are you doing anything for your partners birthday tomorrow? X
