Ahhhh the old Blossoming line hey. I returned to my 16 year old acne ridden skin when pregnant and its building up again this time around, the only thing that blossomed last time was my bump.

tillymint · 23/02/2004 22:46

Confession time.
After giving Wilbur advice about telling friends. I bumped into husband of one today. Couldn't avoid telling him my news as bump was obvious. He was pleased but suggested I didn't tell friend just yet - he would do it when time was better.
It's another angle - cowards way out. But hubby knows best I guess.

tillymint · 23/02/2004 22:50

Oh and spots on back for me. Sweating at night, and 'brussel sprout' wind (DHs term) It is terrible!! So embarassing. I havent even got a dog to blaim. And dd2s number 2s aren't that bad!!
Does it stop?

Dinny · 25/02/2004 11:45

Hi everyone,

My dh is getting very upset with my wind! Now he knows how I usually feel!!! STILL puking loads - 12 weeks today. Scan on Monday - am really nervous. Hope the puking means everything is OK. Have also been feeling little movements for a couple of weeks now. Am excited cos have made contact with a really nice doula. Meeting nest week to sort out arrangements.

niknik · 25/02/2004 19:05

Hi everyone,

Good luck with the scan on Monday Dinny and I hope the sickness improves soon. I am only occaisonally nauseous in the evenings now, 11 weeks and 3 days today

I have my official 12 week scan on Thursday, so it will be DH's first chance to see it/him/her.

We are telling DH's parents tonight. It is his dads 60th birthday and we are going out for some posh nosh.

I have made him a card with a copy of the scan picture I had taken on Monday stuck inside. I think they will be really excited as this would be their first grandchild.

Hope everyone else is well and have a nice weekend

Quackers · 25/02/2004 19:08

That's lovely NikNik, have a great time!xx

SpringChicken · 25/02/2004 19:18

Sounds great Niknik Have a great time and letus know what everyone said on Monday.

tillymint · 25/02/2004 23:44

Nik Nik
What a lovely idea. Very thoughtful. My 12week scan is on Thursday too. Quite nervous, (I'm 41) but hoping I will be reassured.

Dinny,
I've got the number of a doula whose been recommended, but havent called yet as I thought it was too soon. Let me know how it goes. Are you having her pre, during or post?.. or all three?

tillymint · 25/02/2004 23:46

Do some opf you only post from work? Mon to Friday? What are you going to do when you're on maternity leave? Just as we get to know eachother...vamoose..we loose the workers... Hope you make alternative arrangements.

Dinny · 26/02/2004 18:20

Niknik, that's a really nice thing to do. How did they react?

Tillymint, I'm having a birth and postnatal doula (and seeing her beforehand prob). In fact she's coming to see me on Wednesday. Is this your first baby? What area are you in? Wonder if I've been recommended same one... (I'm in S London). Good luck with your scan on Thursday.
Dinny x
ps I post from work and home.

Help!

Just been informed by a friend that her little boy has german measles, and that he was infectious last weekend when i spent time with them. Apparently he should be kept away from pregnant women. What should i do?

pupuce · 26/02/2004 23:06

Diny - can I ask what her initials are ?
For a good doula in London - book ASAP! They get fully booked and we constantly turn women down who ask too late.

mears · 27/02/2004 09:53

ja9 - have you had your booking bloods done yet? If so, your midwife can check your immunity. If not, visit your midwife/doctor and get your blood checked. You most likely are immune and it will not be a problem. Tell them about your contact.

Dinny · 27/02/2004 13:20

Pupuce, have spoken to a few - I'll e-mail you who it is. Would be interested to know your opinion. Thanks, D

cazzybabs · 27/02/2004 14:08

When I was preggers with dd, a child in a parrell class had german measles and I was quite excited because I thought I could have some time off work. But no - my doctor said most likely I was immune and not to worry.

highlander · 27/02/2004 18:16

I'm the very end of September; should I be with October? You'll all have popped before me!

Dinny · 27/02/2004 18:26

No, stay here with us, Highlander! Welcome and congratulations How are you doing?

wilbur · 27/02/2004 18:36

Caught sight of myself in a long mirror today and got a shock - no bump yet, but waist has gone and I'm getting that triangular look that you get when your boobs are not very big (not helped by me wearing a squash-em down sports bra) and you sort of expand evenly from the neck down, iyswim. Not a good look . I hadn't really noticed before as when I'm near a mirror, I'm usually stressing over my a@se and thighs, wondering when they will be too big to get through the door.

highlander · 27/02/2004 18:49

yay- September gives me better vibes than October!

By some total miracle, I've discovered that excluding tea, coffee, tuna and booze stops me feeling sick and depressed. Can't stand the sight of chocolate, in fact lust after fruit the way I used to drool over Dairy Milk. Not surprisingly, have lost a bit of weight, but this is probably due to hubby being away and I'm eating sensible-sized portions! No sign of bump, thank goodness. Not mentally ready for that yet.

As I'm going to Canada at the start of April, the midwife said there was no point in booking me in. Not that I'm too bothered. With visits to both the GP and the midwife, none of them actually asked how I was feeling or coping (it's in my notes that hubby is away). Grrrrrr.......

Dinny · 27/02/2004 18:56

My waist is on the way out too, Wilbur. hate the way you feel so fat until bump gets big.

Healthy things make me feel worse, Highlander - I can't stand sald and it's usually my favourite thing. How many weeks are you?

highlander · 27/02/2004 19:08

Midwife thinks I'll be 11 weeks on 11th March (was considering nuchal fold).

Shame about the salad; I'm not to good with anything green at the moment either (apart from stir-fried broccoli).

Dinny · 27/02/2004 19:17

I'm having nuchal fold tomorrow pm. Quite nervous. It comes as standard in my hospital. Had one with last pregnancy. Got really low risk then, hoping all will be OK tomorrow.

highlander · 27/02/2004 19:31

Good luck tomorrow Dinny

We have to pay in our region, and I decided I'd rather go on holiday

pollingfold · 28/02/2004 12:30

Hope the scan goes well today Dinny, mines not for another 2 weeks - at just over 13 weeks - talk about dragging it out.

no waist to start with, no not surprised that I look I'm in preperation for a sumo wrestingly camp.

tillymint · 29/02/2004 00:09

Dinny, Hope all was well with scan today - mine's on Thursday and its on my mind a lot. This is my third. dd1is 5yrs and dd2 is 7 months.
I live near Epsom at the moment. Must give my doula a call. I had awful SPD with dd2 last year, so I will need help pre birth with my little one. I think I would rather pay for a doula than a mothers help. What do you think? I already have a fantastic birth partner (my SIL).
