Angelico glad I'm not the only one who says scarf in terms of eating food. Everyone (ok, mainly DH) looks at me like this Hmm when I use it. But I still do!

Ok, so this afternoon mainly I have been worried about my midwife's surprise about where my uterus is. I thought you were supposed to show earlier with subsequent pregnancies? My uterus is nowhere near where it should be. And everything seems to be lying really low - the feeling of pressure I have in my, well, bits - front and back - is more like it was in the final trimester with DS. What's going on? Anyone got any thoughts/experience of this? It's a bit miserable - I can't stand for long without feeling really uncomfortable Sad

Zara1984 · 26/04/2012 19:51

I want sex!!!! But I still don't feel like it :(

When does the horniness come back?? Have only done the deed twice since finding out I was pg and both were not that enjoyable (although not unenjoyable). Defo no climaxes :(

Not enjoying this part of pg as I am normally always trying to get into DH's pants (especially while I was not on the pill!).

Jealous of all your shagging!

Midgetm · 26/04/2012 20:20

I was banned from sex for first trimester and since been too knackered. I want it too!

Guccigirl79 · 26/04/2012 20:24

Totally agree with you Zara I would love to want it & think I should be giving it up to DP quite often but,1 I just cant be arsed & 2 I dont much feel like it & poor DP knows this really so when there is a (brief) window of time I can be arsed (5 mins!!) I have to be upbeat & get on with it.Blush

Hope everything starts to pick up here on in with work issues & bodies doing random things at this time, cant really think of anything else to say so am going off to an ice lolly coma & then it'san early night for me :)

MickeyTheShortOne · 26/04/2012 20:29

Well I hate to make you all jealous.. but I can't get enough ;) In fact DP starting to get tired.... ha ha ha ha Wink i frequently remind him to make the most of it while he can!!!!

HaggisNeepsTatties · 26/04/2012 20:42

So sounds like I'm the only one getting the scary stomach pains when I climax then....hmmm

Angelico · 26/04/2012 21:28

Dame scarf is an excellent and underused word! :o Also on the whole carrying low thing I think my uterus is quite low down too, hence the 'pressure' feeling I've been getting since week 12. The only thing I can blame is my weight - maybe weight pushing it down?! I hope it's okay, you're giving me something new to worry about - although some of the girls I work with say be thankful as they carried high and couldn't breathe / had constant rib agony by end Confused No win! I know today the midwife searched much higher and then worked her way down to find the bean's heartbeat.

Haggis I definitely get crampy feelings for a few seconds afterwards, was more painful early on. What are you at now? I'm 17 weeks tomorrow so maybe it eases off.

Night night lovely lay-dees :o x

Oh you lucky people who can have sex! (MickeyTheShortOne) :) I am randy as anything, but if I even lie funny I end up being sick...so no chance for sex at the moment. My poor DH is like an unexploded bomb...and to make it worse I've gone from being flat chested stick insect to a busty babe, which is not helping matters :o

Have one for me!!

Angelico · 26/04/2012 22:59

Dame if you want to risk google this is something that came up: here

Reply that I thought - "Ah-ha! That could be me!" says:

I felt it a lot from 13 wks through start of 16 weeks. My mid-wife said it's normal, especially 14-16 weeks as the uterus is getting bigger and bigger but hasn't popped up out of the pelvis yet. That happens in the 16-17 week range.

I'm 16w5d today and this week I've noticed it much less frequently than before (and my belly is definitely getting bigger ...)

My mid-wife said the same thing too about as long as it's not accompanied by anything else (bleeding particularly) that it's a normal pregnancy symptom.

Morning all -
yes yes yes on the sex front. I was on meds every 8 hrs for my first trimester and I don't know if it was that or tiredness but I had no interest, but recently has been great. This morning, DH left for work and in his suit, me in bed, I joked about having a quickie... tee hee hee, you could see the poor dear was torn between reality and fantasy. I can't believe I'm turning down an opportunity he said but he relaxed then - we don't do quickies.
Maybe it's natures crafty way of bonding partners, but I feel bonded and it's great.

Dame flat I think Monsoon are very handy with the empire shape tops and dresses. I wore a dress 2 sizes bigger to a wedding at the end of my first pregnancy www.monsoon.co.uk/phoebe-maxi-dress/invt/95314188/&bklist=icat,5,shop,women,dresses,wommaxidress
this shape. I have it in size 16, I would be happy to lend it. It is black and silver and white, quite dressy. I wore it once.

Thanks for concern re my job - I definitely am in a hormonal over-reacting place. Anyway Union reassured me job could not change due to mat leave so that was safe. They have to get back to me today but lady was confident, his return should not affect me. Also have not seen him since so assume he is working in other centres.
Plan is to put my head down, get on with my job and ignore him Smile

DS awake, gotta go.
Have a good sexy weekend all.

Squid thinking of you - sending good vibes

MickeyTheShortOne · 27/04/2012 08:49

Sorry Haggis I should've added that I get them too. Not every time but I think it's something to do with what... position i'm in Wink if i'm all stretched out it seems to be then. I'm also getting those kind of pains if I cough while I'm lying down. I have to scrunch up to avoid the pain because it really does hurt.
I hope that made sense!

MickeyTheShortOne · 27/04/2012 08:52

I think it's just something to do with the ligaments stretching etc etc.
I was 12 weeks yesterday, hooray :D Are we all past 12 weeks?
DPs birthday today so we're off out for lunch then down the pub for a drink with all our friends.. I may have a small glass of wine.
And slapped wrist for the pregnant beginner over here, I had medium rare steak for dinner last night. Forgot all about that fact that I shouldn't really have eaten it... but it was so good :o

LondonMrsS · 27/04/2012 10:10

Someone bluntly said to me this week 'You're looking really fat.' It's someone who knows I'm up the duff, but I can't think of any other time in my life that someone would think that an appropriate comment!
Didn't have the heart to inform them that it's mostly due to wind...

I'm 14 weeks today!!! Tra la la, second trimester party anyone?! So I'm immediately supposed to be all smug and sexy and glowing, right?

Not quite. But I did do a tremendous poo this morning, does that count?

Haggis, I get a bit crampy too- perfectly normal, just muscles contracting.

*Mickey, am a bit jealous of your energy! I find myself having to 'schedule in' sex so I know I won't accidentally fall asleep.

Christ, there's a lot of bodily functions in this post...

DameFlatYouLent · 27/04/2012 10:11

Angelico thanks for the google link. My DH suggested I google it when I was lying on the sofa last night moaning, but I decided against it as I had a healthy dose of the google fear! Glad someone else did it for me! Waiting for that magical "pop"...it's weird that it's happening later this time, and I wonder if it's linked to the fact that I've seen an osteopath for my pelvis between pregnancies. I must say I am paranoid about getting varicose veins in the area - a friend of mine had them and was mis.er.ab.le. Re. the weight - I have put on half a stone Shock Shock Shock I've really got to get a grip and take control of my eating. I really don't want to end up looking like a bus after this pg Sad Maybe my new enormous belly is pushing down on my uterus Sad That and the fact I'm still sleeping on my tummy...

lisbeth thanks for the dress tips - I will definitely check Monsoon out. For some reason I hadn't thought of Monsoon (thick emoticon) and there's even one in my nearest town (extra thick emoticon).

Mickey congrats on getting to the magic 12 weeks! Hooray!!

squid hope you're ok and resting up.

fjordmor everything ok with you?

squidkid · 27/04/2012 10:42

Hello everyone, in bed still this morning watching the crazy swollen river after all the rain and eyeing up flood warnings worriedly. I'm on the first floor so should be fine but apparently the power could go and I'll need to go move my car if it gets any higher!

Have had a nice couple of days where I've just collapsed really. Had a glass of wine last night and everything, you know, a proper sized one. My mum and my friends have been lovely, been having sex with the boyfriend again (not that we ever really stopped, but we were down to once or twice a week, which is not like us)... stuff like that. I feel a bit better and more human again and have been "connecting" with little squid - felt one more definite kick at 4am yesterday morning, and have been singing to him again.

Spoke to my union this morning who are going to give me some advice on what to do now. I think everything is sorted from my point of view but I really want to give the hospital feedback on what this has been like. Not really got it in me to make a proper complaint. Well I'll see what the union advise.

I have a small bump as of the last two days. It's a bit odd I'm not used to it yet. I'm not bigger anywhere else. I have no idea what I weigh. I wish it would get bigger already, I just look kind of dumpy now. I bought some jojomaman jeans off ebay (for £1! result) and they are comfy and fit fine now and unless I'm wearing a tight/short top look just like normal jeans.

I recommend every person on this thread gets a "pregnancy massage". My boyfriend bought me one because I was having a melt down and this lovely girl laid me on the floor propped up by various pillows first on my left side then my right and massaged me for an hour and I have never felt better in my life. It was £30 for an hour so I figure if I don't buy a pushchair or have reusable nappies instead of disposables I can justify having one a month until I deliver!!!

thank you all for your kindness, really. xxxx

squidkid · 27/04/2012 11:01

Zara thank you very much, you are quite right really, I am having trouble knowing where to direct my anger as they are all professional buck-passers. Anyway I have asked the union for advice... could never speak to the media I hate them so much Grin And so sorry about your sickness! has it passed now?! It does sound a bit extreme for morning sickness...

smileyhappymummy thank you - I have heard quite a few comments about doctors working till 38 weeks and going into labour at work, yeah. I wish they would shut up! Actually every doctor I have spoken to who worked on calls into later in their pregnancy said they completely regretted it and made damn sure they didn't for subsequent pregnancies. One reg told me her first baby was 8 weeks early and she really believes it was cause of the crazy hours she was working. I just want to look after little squid :( And yes I did go to occy health and then medical staffing/the medical directorate told me the risk assessment was invalid! I hate them all.
GP is less antisocial hours and you do get to sit but it is long days and it is tiring and intense being in one room with upset patients all day. Take care xx

Cwest you must be the last on this thread to have your 12 week scan, I'm sure it will be wonderful, and then we can all have a giant virtual party. Nearly there xxx

Zoeplankton thank you so much for all your advice and support - even if I've not been great at responding to it I have been reading it all. I am so sorry about your sister. How unbelievably hard that must have been.

DameFlatYouLent when I am too tired/don't have the time to go shopping, I like asos.com - big range. I find their sizes are quite generous usually, so bear that in mind. (I'm a 10 on the high st, but more an 8 at asos. They are also quite long so I can't buy their maxi-dresses, being a short-arse)

HaggisNeepsTatties I had really intense pain after sex from about 4 weeks - 8 weeks. Felt like extreme cramping - but would only last a couple of minutes. Initially I blamed the boy, but I got the same when I had some, ahem, private time! it stopped after 8 weeks though.

lisbethsopposite thank you - and I hope all is well with your work. I know quite a few people who have had real trouble with work and pregnancy - what bloody century do we live in, eh.

Right, sorry about that novel. Oh my god, an entire tree just went down the river past my window!

Midgetm · 27/04/2012 11:42

Bloody hell squid sounds like you may need an Ark.

MickeyTheShortOne · 27/04/2012 12:14

Blimey Squid, hope it doesn't get much higher! Glad you are having a rest.. DP just read your post over my shoulder and was laughing at the pregnancy massage idea, until I told him that I wanted one. Now he's rolling his eyes Hmm

HaggisNeepsTatties · 27/04/2012 13:36

All,

Thanks for the reassurance that the crampy sex stuff is normal...I'm hoping it goes away soon!
Angelico I'm 16 & 3 today so just a couple days behind you.

Feeling good this week...I had to stop running and I've only just got round to joining a gym, so have been swimming twice this week which has been lovely, and this morning got a "pregnancy" gym workout review from the ante natal trainer at the gym, so feeling like I have a bit more energy. Also feeling less like I need to eat all the time.

In other news got some belly band things from JoJo Maman, they have buttons and button holes on them so you can attach them onto your normal jeans/trousers and pretty much turn them into maternity ones. Ace!

Have a good Friday everyone!

Midgetm · 27/04/2012 13:50

Eating 5 quality streets in a row makes you feel a but suck. Fact.

squidkid · 27/04/2012 13:55

I've been out to take pictures of the crazy river and I went to the market and bought squid! I have felt squeamish about loads of food I used to love since becoming pregnant (rare meat, rare fish, shellfish, fish, anything rich like pork belly or lamb) so this is a major milestone and I feel I can live up to my name again now, hooray. I also bought salmon and giant raw tiger prawns (they're ok if I cook them, right?) and samphire and lots of herbs and cheese and fruit and scones and bread and olives, all so cheap, I love my market.

Starting to feel human again. Stupid hospital.

squidkid · 27/04/2012 13:57

Eeurgh to the thought of quality street. Sugar makes me feel sick sick sick.

londonlivvy · 27/04/2012 13:59

Hi everyone,

Feeling less yucky today which is great - here's hoping it's here to stay. I am Little Miss Positivity this lunchtime :

  1. I found a newer, quieter, almost-traffic-free route to cycle to work to keep DF happy (he thinks that I am now too slow to be safe on major routes).

  2. I got my Isabella Oliver order today and two of the tops are LOVELY - super cute. The stripey one is a bit much for me (I feel like a pirate) and the everyday dress looked like a tent, but HURRAH for the two cute tops. YAY. I think I will also have to make a plan to go to H&M for some other bargain stuff later on.

  3. I feel like I'm finally embracing this new figure (I don't have a bump, just don't have a waist any more) and accepting that I'm going to change shape and officially Proud of Myself. I have historically been rather weight obsessed, weighing myself every day and exercising at least 10 hours a week and, well, I'm not, anymore.

  4. Saw the consultant yesterday about my possibly incompetant cervix (as a result of a cone biopsy back in 2004) and he took me seriously and has booked me in for a cervix scan in three weeks. Am relieved. The only challenge now is to locate the paperwork for said cone biopsy before then. eeek... paperwork fail...

  5. IT'S FRIDAY. Unfortunately no sleeping in for me but no more work for two days. yay for that.

I'm also DELIGHTED that your union are on your side and helping, squid. And very glad you're feeling less bad. Liesbeth glad your HR are sorted too - glad sometimes they can be useful. and oh CRIPES re the sickness, Zara, this is why I continue to cycle, despite father and DF disapproval - the fresh air really does help. Poor you.

36, 13+1, #1

Beeblebear · 27/04/2012 14:09

Well, i'm on my phone, so sorry for lacking name checks.

For those struggling with work, I suppportive with you. I hope ypu find a way to manage. Squid,i hope the union sports things out for you. Aces on the massage. I'm going for one on monday.

To continue with work woes...

They have now hired the new executive assistant in our office. Starts may 15. Is gping to be taking over 90 % of what ii currently do. Stsrting to wonder if they will evwn replave me when I am on l Confused leave

Also getting frustrated with pee breaks.. I work the main phone, and if I nedd to pee I have to go down the hall and ask someone to cover the phone. Well I don't want to do that 20 times a day so I just slip down the hall.. But if couse it always decides to ring then then I get in crap. Oh well.

Sex and cramping.. Yes but mine was quite delayed. Next day kept getting sharp stabbing pains every 10 seconds or so in my lady bits.

Ok bit of a rant...why is it that my favorite healthy cerial comes in a tiny little box for 7 dollars, but the sugary crap stuff vomes in a huge box for 4! Gur. Going to go broke.

Gtg, 10 past time I have to leave fkr work, darn mn addiction...this is why I don't usually oost. Catch the rest if you later

Guccigirl79 · 27/04/2012 14:37

Hope all the work woes are easing today ladies, cant really give much input to it as I work on my own for myself.

Weather is quite shitty here today & have to go to work in a bit but have gone all tired, think I peaked a bit too early today lol my mate came over this morning & we finally coloured our hairs it's soooooo nice to blow dry it & not have those beastly grey things waving at me from all angles!! :)
