Londonlivvy my iIsabella Oliver dresses arrived today and both lovely. One almost a bit sexy. Not sure it will be for much longer though as I have totally lost my waist...

londonlivvy · 27/04/2012 15:00

ooh Midget which ones did you go for? I ordered the everyday dress but it's huge and a bit tent-like so even when there is a bump in there i sense it won't be flattering at all.

I did very much like the idea of the ruched dresses (esp the one-shoulder one) for a wedding this summer but at the price, not sure I can justify it. I'll see if I can squeeze into my (ruched and stretchy but non-maternity) Phase Eight dress. Depends how big the bump gets. Based on my sisters, it shouldn't get too big (we have very long torsos so I guess plenty of space inside). I hope, anyway.

Midgetm · 27/04/2012 15:09

I went for a grey and pink stripey one and the essential nursing dress - very clingy even pre bump and rather nice (I practiced pulling it out to make sure room for expansion). I thought I ordered it in blue but it arrived in balck so may just get a blue one sent too. Both very soft material and I likee much. Should have got some tops too - did you get the 47-43% off thing?). I was too scared to get any sleeveless ones as last pregnancy my arms got fat and I am paranoid about them at the best of times. What tops did you get?

Midgetm · 27/04/2012 15:10

PS jealous of long torso - as you can tell from my name, I, err don't.

londonlivvy · 27/04/2012 15:53

ooh I like the nursing one. very cute indeed. Yes, I did get the discount, which is what made me go for it in the end - I had hummed and haaed for a while. I see stripey things on other people and think "CUTE" but on me I always think "HEIFER". sigh.

oh cripes hadn't thought about fat arms. Generally speaking I've got good arms / shoulders but a more solid backside and legs. I think i'd be a bit sad to lose my one good bit!

Ah re long torso. There are disadvantages - this means I have short legs! I'm taller than DF when we're sitting down. When we stand, he's taller. He's blessed with long limbs. I'm hoping pepe gets his legs!

Midgetm · 27/04/2012 16:13

I am the opposite. Short arms/torso, long legs. Drivse me mad as you get your arms out more than your legs so would swap my pins for a pair of long arms anyday!

Angelico · 27/04/2012 17:08

Hey peeps, a quick hello from a v v v tired Angelico. Busy week - TGI Friday and all that!

Squid so glad you've had a rest! The world always looks so much brighter when you're not emotionally and physically shattered! :o

And Livvy and Midget will you post some links to those dresses? They sound lovely! :o

More later, going to get into bed and read for thirty seconds until I doze off...

OP posts:
Midgetm · 27/04/2012 18:44

No link as posting from phone but oh yikes the stripes make me look like a heffalump and I've only just started putting on weight so I will look like an actual whale in a month or so....

DameFlatYouLent · 27/04/2012 19:08

Squid thanks for the asos recommendation. I have shopped there before but find the range bewildering - the sheer quantity of clothes is overwhelming! I start off enthusiastic and get discouraged quickly! My DH gets almost all his clothes there and loves it. He's got a better eye than I have, embarrassingly.

I'm another one with long torso and short legs relatively speaking. Also another with a tendency to fat arms Sad My arms make me miserable, I hate them. In winter clothes I look reasonably slim and normal; as soon as summer comes round and sleeves get shorter my arms are really disproportionate and weird-looking. They're weirdly muscular but not defined iyswim. Ah, body woes. Must stop my snacking habit, that'd be a start Hmm

Zoeplankton · 27/04/2012 19:12

Glad to hear you've got some reassurance, lizbeth... Now starting to worry about beeblebear!

Glad for all the clothing advice. My order from la redoute... Well, the clothes weren't great, and the package came full of marketing stuff for the Irish lottery so lord knows what marketing lists I'm on now! I wouldn't recommend. If you're small (I'm usually a six) Debenham's 'red herring' maternity wear is small sizes and very slim fitting.

It seems that as my insides rearrange an old sex issue (thankfully avoidable) has re-emerged - I mention in case it happens to/terrifies anyone else. A couple of years ago I found that some positions were causing awful pain. I asked the doctor, and, well, it turns out my ovaries were getting hit! They're basically the same kind of stuff as testicles, and you know how men say getting hit in the balls hurts soooo much? Same kind of deal. So if anything weird happens to you that causes odd, very temporary internal pain deep inside, it might just be that.

Kyyria · 27/04/2012 22:29

Hi all,

Bit of an odd few days. Not feeling 100% but feeling the best I have done for the last 3 months...am hoping that this is here to stay Smile:

Feel quite worked up at present - one of my colleagues from work had a lovely little girl in September and have just found out that she's quite poorly at the moment and the medics are suspecting leukaemia. Can't imagine what my colleague is going through and also now worrying myself about how horrible it would be if that happened to my little one Sad

YompingJo · 28/04/2012 14:22

Kyyria, that must be hard - but chances are so very, very small of it happening to you.

Well, I went to be measured for a bra today and I have gone from a C-cup to a D-cup Shock. I've never been a D-cup in my life! Not sure whether to feel shocked or smug. So I bought some new bras. Not that excited about the selection of non-wired bras in M&S though, the T-shirt bras are fine but the rest are very plain, I wanted something a bit jazzy so I still feel sexy - nice colourful lacy bras with matching undies, sort of thing - any recommendations of anywhere else to look?

Then I spent HOURS clothes shopping as hardly anything fits anymore. I decided to give maternity clothes a miss after last weekend's unsuccessful experience, and just stick with going up a size or two.

It wasn't going well until I found White Stuff. Oh White Stuff, you are my saviour! I want to write you a song and send you roses! I found lots of longer tops that can be worn with leggings and that fit fine and are stretchy so there's room for the bump to grow bigger. And leggings! What a revelation! Why did no-one ever tell me how comfortable they are? Then I tried Fat Face and did equally well. So I have some clothes that fit. Can't describe the relief! And it was kind of nice talking babies and the woes of a changing figure with the shop assistants, who were all very interested and keen to help. I got some Dr Hauschka stuff for my hideous skin as well, and (shh, don't tell DH) 2 cute babygrows from Next as I couldn't resist them. Is 17 weeks a bit early to be buying baby clothes? God, I hope I haven't jinxed anything Hmm

So I thought I'd post another happy post (2 in a row, what's going on???) and say hurray for finding clothes that fit. Now I need some nice sandals to wear with the tops and leggings and some boots for work, and some maternity gym gear, and I'll be sorted.

Kyyria · 28/04/2012 14:30

Just been to ASDA as they've got a baby event on. Thought we'd buy some essentials that can be used again (e.g. sterilizer, nappy wrapping bin). Got half way round and then completely freaked out, tears and all! Blush Feel like an idiot! Still, now going for pub lunch on the way home Smile

squidkid · 28/04/2012 14:53

What a different two days makes - I now DEFINITELY have a bump! I have added another picture, not that anyone cares! It's making me happy :)

squidkid · 28/04/2012 15:07

Kyyria So sorry to hear about your friend's daughter, very sad. I also understand how it is hard not to take other people's problems and worry about them yourself... but as Yomping says, it's a rare piece of sad bad luck.

I also don't feel I should buy any baby stuff as yet! I was eyeing up reusable nappies on ebay yesterday, in adorable dayglo colours. After my 20w scan (less than 2 weeks now!) me and the boy are going to have a mass clear out of our flat and maybe rearrange some things... but I think we'll hold off buying for now.

Good to hear all the clothing recommendations. I've not got any weddings this year thank god (not a pregnant comment, just bored to tears of weddings) ... would like a nice maxi dress for the summer festivals, thought that would look awesome with a bump. Tried on a few but they're all so skimpy on top. And usually too long for me. Hmm. I feel like I shouldn't buy any maternity stuff as yet as basically all my clothes still fit. I keep nearly getting things and then feeling frivolous and stopping!

Angelico · 28/04/2012 15:56

Hey peeps. Bit more spotting but only a morsel. Not going to panic but going to ring EPU for advice. Really don't want to go in unless essential. Bah!!!

Beeblebear · 28/04/2012 16:10

Good morning all!

Well I have definately started shopping. And so has ny mother. I.m a total bargain shopper, so picked up a gently used crib bedding set yesterday for $30. I also sent back the wallparer mural I ordered as they shipped the wrong one.

There was a sale on at the maternity store I stopped in at yesterday and got another pair of wlrk pants, 3 tops and a hoodie for just over $100 reg price over $200. So basically 50% off.

Kyyria , I.m sorry to hwar about your friend. I think those kinds of tthoughts cross a lot of our minds, but like yomping said, it's just bad luck.

My grandparents in my mom's side both died of cancer, my mom has had cancer, and my grandfather on my dad's side died of leukemia. So that thought has crossed my mind a time or two, but I don't let it get to me. Show your friend your support by getting registered as a vone marrow donor.

Squid. Congrats on the bump!! It's definately popped!

I.m not noticing amy difference in my bump but I think bub is going tnrough a growth spurt. For aboyt 3 days something shifted amd was right in my bladder leaving my running to the loo every 15 min. That has calmed now, but yesterday I fell asleep on the sofa and slept for about 12 hours (minus one or two pee breaks)

Stupid phone... Honestly I DO know how to spell.

Beeblebear · 28/04/2012 16:12

Amgelico , sorry to hear that. I had a dream about that last night and it was absolutely terrifying. I hope epu can get you un and hopwfully set your mind at ease. I hope all is well. But your feet up and try to rest.

CWest30 · 28/04/2012 16:52

Hi all,

EEK! Scan in 2 sleeps!! Am very very very nervous, just praying all is well, please keep your fingers crossed for me.
Put on my skinny jeans this morning and couldnt do the button up, so my hubby gave me £50 to treat myself! Result!!!! There's no maternity shops where I live, so just gone mad on leggings. Im only tiny anyway so doubt I will need the maternity stuff, I didnt last time around.
12+2 today, and feel really really well and awake, is this even possible? My 4 year old is with his grandparents for the weekend so had an AMAZING lay in with hubby, (yes and we dtd too :-) sorry tmi?) as I felt so well. Was nice just to be with him, I work nearly full time, and he works nights so time alone is very very rare. Going out with some friends for drinks tonight, really looking forward to wearing my new clothes and showing off my bigger tummy. The only thing I would LOVE is an alcoholic drink, I'm really missing it, but dont want to run the risk til I've had my scan on Monday.
Well, this is almost it, deep breath, I'll be back Monday night, good or bad arrrggghhhhhhh! x

Angelico · 28/04/2012 20:14

Well... apparently I have a tiny polyp on my cervix, which may or may not be the cause of the spotting. Wasn't mentioned before and feel bad because haven't had a smear in years Blush so assuming it has just appeared in last couple of weeks. Maybe that was what was giving me the pressure feeling... although don't see how if it's tiny Confused So have been told not to worry too much about brown staining although to phone for advice but to def get in touch if I have red bleeding. Anyone know anything about polyps / had one in pregnancy?

londonlivvy · 28/04/2012 20:53

Angelico First of all on a flippant (and hopefully distracting note) I bought this dress and didn?t like it in reality ? just too big over the shoulders, right over the boobs and tent-like everywhere else.
www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/maternity-dresses/DR138.html
This top I?m not sure about ? makes me feel a bit piratey.
www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/maternity-tops/TP119.html
but I love love love this top
www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/maternity-tops/TP093.html in navy and this one in pink www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/maternity-tops/TP028.html
Both are totally wearable now, even though I don?t have at all of a bump and so I hope will be wearable post-baby too.

Now ? as for polyp and spotting and stuff, I?m afraid I haven?t a clue. But now that it?s known, I?m sure the medics will do everything necessary. Worrying for you though. Do let us know when you know more.

Oh Kyyria that?s so sad for your colleague but these things are incredibly rare, as yomping says. Hoping you?re feeling better after ASDA event.

Dame I?m with you on the overwhelming nature of asos?s choice ? but maybe your DH could help you chose? Zoe I will avoid la redoute ? thanks for the tip!

And Yomping for bras, I have erred on the cheaper side, as I seem to grow every month, which is getting expensive! So I?ve found Debenhams and www.brastop.co.uk to be the best options. I haven?t done much maternity shopping and still need jeans + tights (oh MY my normal ones are SO uncomfortable) and some vest tops. I plan on heading out next weekend to H&M as they seem to get the most positive remarks. I know what you mean about the cut on white stuff and fat face though ? I have an empire line shirt from there which I?ve had for ages and which I?m sure I?ll be able to wear for months.

Oooh squid you have a proper bump!! I still just look a bit podgy. But only 13 weeks so I?m sure it?ll come.

Impressed on anyone who has energy to look for baby bargains. We?re still focusing on trying to sell our flats and find a new home for us before worrying about details. I?m also trying to be calm and remember that even if we are still in this flat when the baby arrives, it?s not the end of the world.

CWest I remember vividly the scan fear so you have my max crossed fingers ability. YAY for spending time with hubby alone. Hurrah.

Today I am mostly delighted that I haven?t been nauseous OR exhausted. Is this the beginning of 2nd trimester bliss??

sorry about the essay, folks Blush

HaggisNeepsTatties · 28/04/2012 22:20

Angelico Not had a polyp during pregnancy but I had one in my uterus which was removed last year. Basically they are just skin tags but inside you I think. Mine used to cause me lots of spotting before my period came so could definitely be a cause of your spotting. I'd get some advice as to whether it's fine to leave it while you're pregnant and maybe look into getting removed after. They can cause problems if they're left I think so probably best to get it removed at some point anyway.

In other news, had a reminder today that I can't do everything I used to. Did 50 lengths swimming this morning and then nearly fainted in the shower afterwards!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Angelico · 28/04/2012 22:44

Thanks Livvy and Haggis - I am probably the only freak person in the world to be almost happy at finding a polyp as it might at least explain the odd 'pressure' feeling and spotting rather than it being a complete mystery. Just hope it isn't anything sinister but doc tonight said it looked very 'soft' and normal, highly unlikely it was anything to worry about. Will def get it checked in life after bean.

Haggis that bean you are growing is taking up lots of energy now, you'll have to cut back on the lengths :)

Livvy will def check those dresses out.

Hope you are all well peeps xo

Zoeplankton · 28/04/2012 23:16

The only bras that I've found in years that fit me were two for ten pounds at Sainsburys... That was before pg, though, I need new ones now!

angelico I had stage two abnormal cervical cells last year. (They are super-slow growing - like you, I was not up to date on smears - didnt update my address with thedoctors, so missed all the reminders!) They cut them out with (eyes away for the sensitive stomached) what was described to me as 'an electrified cheesewire'. Outpatient procedure, done in five minutes. Sniffles and Disney movies on the couch that afternoon, back to work the next day.

Mind you, a friend in Australia had the same thing at the same stage of seriousness done under a general!

I was advised not to get pregnant until I'd had my six-months later checkup that it hadn't come back. HA! ('ha' sounds better than 'oops' ;) )

Bought two wrappy tops from maman jojo bebe today, £26 each and totally worth it, will be great for breastfeeding as well as pg. I also decided to use pregnancy as an excuse to experiment with different clothes - normally I live in black tshirts and jeans (seriously, I own six identical black tshirts, and that's not all my black tshirts, I have more!) but today... Today I bought a leopard print maxi dress with big hibiscus prints on the boob and hem. Wish me luck actually wearing it!

YompingJo · 29/04/2012 08:33

I'm cheerleading for Zoe - Go girl, wear the dress! CWest, crossing finders, eyes and toes for you tomorrow. Angelico glad you got the mystery some way towards sorted I'm sure it's a relief to know there's something causing the bleeding. Squid, you sound so much more relaxed Smile. Haggis, I'm bowing to your energy - I feel smug now if I manage 30 lengths. Well done, but take care!. Beeble, impressed at your bargain hunting. I'm too bad at shopping to sniff out bargains, I tend to just pay the full price and run away - then usually get home to discover that the clothes don't fit. Dame, I too have a bad snacking habit which I'm trying to cut down on. I realise I've been eating with wild abandon and can't you just tell it from looking at my hips Blush.

LondonLivvy, we're renting our place too, it's not ideal but we can't afford to have a baby and buy a house at the same time, keep telling ourselves that the baby won't mind where it lives so long as it has shelter, food and loving parents. It'll all work out.

Bra-wise, it seems there's lots of lovely nursing bras but not many "maternity" (eg non-nursing but non-wired) ones, but I did find 2 on figleaves so have ordered them to see whether they fit. By Panache and Royce, if anyone is interested in my underwear, lol Grin. The T-shirt ones I bought from M&S are tent-like and are going back, I will actually try them on in the shop next time! The only one I bought from there that does fit is driving me mad as its top half is lacy and the join sits right on my permanently erect and very sensitive nipples, leading to embarrassing fumbling and rearranging on a regular basis Confused. Not sexy! And a found a hole in my new leggings. So a return match in town today I think, but I have to get the teacher comments done on 5 reports before I can go anywhere, and each one is an A4 page, eek.

So I've had a strange Sunday so far - at 7am a very wired scottish bloke turned up in a Transit with his mate to collect the bike. (I do mean wired, it's not a typo - he had driven down from Edinburgh, leaving at 1am, fuelled by coffee). He handed over an envelope full of cash in my garage - felt very shifty, wonder what the neighbours would have thought if they were watching! A few cups of tea and a V5 form later, the bike has gone. Sad.

Right, on with report writing. Good morning those of you who are up and about and have a good day those who are still asleep!
