Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

york67 terrific news - you must be over the moon! My nuchal test is tomorrow, so hope to get similarly good news in a week or so. Your 1 in 1800 is even better than I got with DS at 39 (1 in 1568 from memory) - really excellent.

Hope everyone enjoying the sunny weather. :)

york67 · 26/03/2012 17:12

Thanks jollster and good luck for tomorrow.

bobblesmama · 26/03/2012 20:32

Hi everyone, hope that you are all enjoying the lovely weather and looking after yourselves.
I tried to go out for a walk today but had to stop as BH have got so bad now. Just about to enter week 39, not convinced I will stay upright much longer :)

Heartburn is also absolutely horrendous, I really don't remember it being this tiring in my twenties :D

littleredmonkey · 26/03/2012 21:39

Hey guys
Jollster - good luck for your test Tuesday, thinking of you
York67 - So pleased for you x
Hpbp - Italy for the weekend , so brillant do you need someone to carry your bags ? I am looking forward to a walk on Skegness beach with some fish and chips . Live an hour + away but fancy a good leg stretch. Woke up yesterday with a dry throat and it has now brewed into painful sore throat, shivers and a runny nose. took the day off work, no energy at all. Cant really take any medication or throat sweets only lockets and they are gross. So feeling very sorry for myself today even though the sun was shining. I think it is the cold that is making me down in the dumps today and having panics about being pregnant and worrying about everything . Sorry to bum everyone out with my cold blues. Hoping to wake up not as grim Tuesday. The sun is going to shine again and I will make sure I put a smile on my face.

So ladies enjoy the sun, family and friends xxxx

Evening all. Great news on your NT results York.

Sorry Bobblemama that you are now in the 'this is too bloody uncomfortable get it out of me stage'. Almost feel jealous as I am hating this first trimester moodiness and grumpiness. love being pregnant but wish I could fast forward to the second one!

LRM arh sounds like you are feeling so rough. Such a pain not being able to drug your way out of it. Hope the sunshine helps you on the mend.

Hope all the oldies are keeping well in the sunshine, it does seem to be taking the edge of my crazy mood swings x

littleredmonkey · 27/03/2012 09:51

Morning
Had to take the day off work as rough as hell. No drugs is making littleredmonkeys cold more horrible. I think I have drunk my weight in green tea already this morning. oh and there is nothing on tv to watch , so been around the baby sites and registered for free stuff.
Hope you got on ok Jollster today with your test xx

Hey ladies, yet another beautiful sunshiney day:). We've had an eventful week in the zimbo household with DD1 breaking up with her BF of 20 odd months and all the drama that goes with it. DS keeps forgetting that they've broken up and puts his foot in it from time to time! Thankfully DD1 has now gone off on a school trip so we're enjoying some peace and quiet after all the mood swings. Week 7 begins for me today so will make that call to book a first appointment with the Doc. Hopefully this pregnancy will be uneventful - the last one at the grand old age of 39 included gestational diabetes, fainting and really, really dark moods around the middle months:(. bobblesmama I too suffered from heartburn last time round and found that avoiding ALL sugary foods helped enormously. valium - hope your little one is OK. york67 that's good news and jollster good luck! hpbp it would seem that a little break is just what the doctor ordered - how thoughtful of your OH:). littleredmonkey get well soon, you'll soon be right as rain.
Oh, and a little bit of good news - our house buyers have had their loan approved (the previous 2 couples were refused loans) so it looks like we'll be definitely moving out of our rabbit cage early June. Serious househunting must start soon:):).

FjordMor · 27/03/2012 15:47

So glad to find this thread. May I join? :)

Happy to see my 'due in October' buddies Midgetm, Tennerlady, velo & lisbethopposite on here too :)

Thought I was on the road to 2nd trimester 'easy street' (haha) but my little plum seems to grow in spurts - few symptoms for at least a week/10 days then 48 hours of round ligament pain, headaches, new zits, knock-out fatigue and horrible MS :( No consistency, just all or nothing :-.

I'm 11+3, (due October 14th apparently) first pregnancy (naturally concieved - miraculously somehow I don't know how - history of PCOS and full of fibroids including a giant one - had assumed we'd need help) chugging away to get past my 13 week stage and prove to my (not very nice) mother that I won't lose my first one then (like she did) :). Pregnancy complicated by the fact that I'm mid emigration - living in Stavanger, Norway (DP is Norwegian), but currently in London trying to sell my flat (we need a bigger place in NO before the baby comes & hadn't dreamed I'd get up-duffed this quickly) so I'm 'booked in' nowhere yet and won't be until around 14/15 weeks. However have had a scan at 10 weeks (here in London - all fine) and having pre-nuchal bloods this Weds and NT scan on Monday, shortly before return to Norway (to get a GP and get referred into the midwife system). Have been way too laid back about it all and should be far more worried (my only big worry is Downs risk) as I'm not the fittest of old bints (asthma, previous borderline BP, overweight, bloody fibroids...etc.). Not taking anything for granted but taking each day as it comes.

41, 11+3, #1 pregnancy (2 DSDs with us part time; 10 & 12)

littleredmonkey · 27/03/2012 17:22

Hey FjordMor , Welcome to the older ladies gang or old bint as you call it hahah . I am a tad more bint then you 43 and its my first also. Hope your blood tests go well Wednesday xx
Feeling a bit better now after day of rest and drinking gallons of water and toast. Cant be bothered to cook so small chinese for tea and ice cream for pudding so not all bad eh. Hope to have a better nights sleep then last nights waves of coughing drinking water for dry and painful throat and usual trips to the loo. Ladies if you see anyone with a cold put a bag on their heads, its grim not being able to have some drugs plus baby stuff.
The weather has been lovely in Lincoln today, even managed a stroll around the garden with my kitty to gather up some sun rays.

FjordMor · 27/03/2012 17:34

Thanks LRM and poor you with the cold! I had 2 hideous ones back to back in weeks 3-7 of my pregnancy and felt wretched with combined pg symptoms and feeling I couldn't take anything for the cold! I did use steam, an Olbas inhaler (not sure if we're allowed Olbas or not but something had to give, and it's all natural - no drugs), candy kind of throat sweets and masses of hot drinks (peppermint tea/hot water, honey & lemon juice kinda thing). Hope you feel better soon! Hang on in there :) x

york67 · 27/03/2012 18:30

Well after yesterday's elation I am back down to earth with a bump. I have a really bad cold. It's awful not being able to take anything
Also told an old friend of my pregnancy on the day she was having infertility investigations. Feel so rubbish.
Sorry to hear you are sufferring too lmr. Will give steam inhalation a try fjord

Midgetm · 27/03/2012 20:06

Sending lemsip and sympathy to all you suffering from stinking colds.

Welcome Fjordmor to the old timers. Glad you found your way here to your old people's home.

Work has pretty much wiped me out. DH made a lovely dinner for my return though so not all bad. Booking appointment with midwife on Friday, 2 hours, makes me slightly bored just thinking about it.

feeling pretty wretched this week, I am telling myself that week 9/10 is the peak. Am I kidding myself or can you soothe me with agreement ? Thing is I can't really remember from last time and DH says I always describe pregnancy with rather rose tinted specs. Hope you all have a lovely evening x

exexe · 28/03/2012 09:49

Hi everyone.
ValiumQueen thanks for the info. I've been trying it this week. Really hope your dd is fine. Must be a worrying time for you.

I still have had no progress with regards to midwife appointments or scan dates. I'm getting really annoyed now but not sure who I'm meant to contact?
The hospital I've chosen is one that is considered out of the area though its closer to me so I've had to go and try to register with them myself. Its all such a pain.

I'm feeling a bit better now with regards to the sickness so thats a relief.

Hope everyone has a good day.

OooohShiny · 28/03/2012 10:03

Apologies for the radio silence ladies...have been so ill the last 2-3 weeks. Gave in when I started being sick up to 10 times a day and went to the GP who was concerned enough to send me to the hospital and diagnose & sign me off with Hyperemesis. I@ve had a relaxing couple of weeks and the nausea has finally calmed down in the last couple of days but that's happened before so I'm not getting my hopes up lol

I have my 13 week scan at 1.30 this afternoon and I'm nervous as hell...I'm off to catch up on everyone's news and then get ready for the off

Midgetm · 28/03/2012 10:55

Good luck OooohShiny, sorry about the hyperemesis - sounds vile. Glad you are on the mend though.

bytheseaside · 28/03/2012 13:14

hello!
Sending sympathy to anyone who's feeling rough today. It's such a lovely day again - going to try and hand out in the garden for a bit for lunchtime. I discovered nairn's ginger oat biscuits this week - gingery, but a bit like sweetened oatcakes, so less sweet than ginger nuts (just can't face sugar... utterly unlike me :) ) - hope they continue to work.
How did you go about making hospital choices? Feels so early to be thinking about this... I really hate hospitals at the best of times x

littleredmonkey · 28/03/2012 20:18

Hi guys
Those that are cold poorly hope you feel better very soon. I am in bed and have been since 7 coughing my head off, and my nose wont stop running. I hate the taste of lockets honey are gross. I hope I can sleep this evening. I kept my partner and kitty awake most of the night coughing. 12 weeks tomorrow. Feels weird I re-read what I wrote when I first found mumsnet in Feb. I was so scared it was unbelievable , I keep taking one day at a time and really nervous what my scan will show next thursday
Hey Oooohshiney - Good to hear from you. Hope you soon feel better, so sorry you feel like crap honey. How did the scan go today ?

Hpbp · 28/03/2012 20:39

LRM, it seems that lots of us are ill with coughing and runny nose.... And all onthe same boat: no drugs whatsoever.... Coughing makes me wee... Dont laugh :) Very weak pelvic floor since previous pg! Still doing my exercises but it is taking a lot of time for me....
Oooohshiny, how was the scan ? Hope you will feel better and manage to keep it that way
Will be back later, DS wants me to tuck him in bed....

littleredmonkey · 28/03/2012 21:02

My pelvic floor must be shot. !!!
York67 - hows your cold ? sucks to be sick . Every customer I spoke to today ended up me coughing to death around them. Lovely sounded like I smoked 60 a day

Hello again ladies, happy news from Chez Shiny...

Baby Noah arrived 22nd March (a whole week ago!) and he is just perfect. 7lb 4oz and everything there in all the right places. We even managed a little sleep last night. Had emcs in the end after it became apparent he just wasn't quite in the right position but am recovering really well.

Sorry to hear a few of you are feeling rough, wishing you all better very soon.
x

zimbomaman · 29/03/2012 11:15

Big congratulations to you shiny:o Noah is a great name:). Wishing you well with the happy nappy nights....At 15 months DD2 is still waking up at least once a night...hope you do better than us on that front.

Hope everyone else is over the worst of their colds and can get out and enjoy the sunshine:).

Midgetm · 29/03/2012 19:29

Shiny congratulations lady and welcome little Noah. X

Hpbp · 29/03/2012 19:54

This is great news, welcome to baby Noah and congrats to Shiny !
And to LRM for reaching the 12 week milestone, does your throat give you less pain ?
I had the amnio yesterday. The operation itself is not painful, uncomfortable but bearable without painkiller, I did not look at the needle though....
And i had the first results at 5.30pm today: Risk of Down's is 99,9pc out, another 2 weeks and i will have the full karyotype. For skeletal dysplasia, a scan on 19 april will tell...
All in all, good news as well on this sunny day from my side
Take care every one

FjordMor · 29/03/2012 20:46

Congrats to shinysideup and welcome to little Noah! :-)

hpbp - congrats on a reassuring amnio :). I've got my NT scan + blood results on Monday. Cacking myself a bit but trying to hope for the best. They only do CVS at my hospital and I feel rather nervous to have one. Silly probably. well, cross that bridge when etc....

Ooohshiny - sorry to hear about the hyperemesis - that really sucks. Hope it's vanished for good now.

LRM, hpbp & York67 - hope the colds are feeling a bit better and something has been working, at least a bit...

Midgetm - I've had a crap last 3 or 4 days with symptoms too (11+2/3/4/5) and was bemused that I was suddenly getting such bad symptoms so 'late'. Headaches, sickness, fainty wiped-out fatigue, dizziness, backache, unable to think straight and lots of low & round ligament pains too so keep telling myself this hormonal surge must be a good sign at this stage and keep trying to find 'evidence' online that symptoms peak just before 12 weeks before they get better! Wink Mother being a total bitch and saying 'most women are fine in their 1st trimester apart from ms - I was. Most women go to work and manage just fine' (ie. shut up - I'm sick of hearing about your 'so-called' symptoms) - which makes me feel like the most defective creature on planet earth. Anyhow - I hope yours are easing up. Still waiting for that holy grail the 2nd trimester when we are promised a land of milk & honey & feeling good Wink Wink. I can't soothe you with agreement but I think you get a 'peak' between 9-12 and then your hormones even out (or so my googling has taught me... Blush - please don't tell me to step away from google...)
