Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

OOh! I didn't know you could have a smear in pregnancy? I am due one, but cancelled appointment due to BFP.

Hpbp I have always thought I would never have any tests, but I think if I had markers I would probably rather want to know than spend the next 6 months worrying.

Hpbp · 23/03/2012 12:51

Hey everyone,
sorry I have not had better news to share ! but thank you so much for all your messages.
I will try not to think about all these tests, they are all booked and let it be ! You are absolutely right: it is better to know than worry and not enjoy the pg. All the more as I know deep down that the stress level and well being of the expectant mum have an impact of the baby's mood and behaviour later on.
So lets cheer up !
I have just ordered my groceries, planned roughly a menu for the 5 coming days, tried to arrange meet ups in the park with friends with kids for this wonderful week end. Now I will have lunch on the balcony and treat myself with dark chocolate afterwards....
Enjoy the day, every one, xxxx

I've just miscarried at 46, and not sure if I'll have abother chance at my age. Has anyone had a successful natural pregnancy at 46?

firstbubba · 23/03/2012 15:35

As the name suggests this is my first at 43 with the help of IVF egg donation I am just over twelve weeks and due in October. Just hanging on now until Wednesday until the scan, cant help worrying that everything is not OK. Have stopped taking all the drugs/pessaries. Been completely knackered and looking forward to 'blooming'.
Cant stop worrying about just everything, every time I go to the loo (which is often) I have to check whats there!

To add to all that being made redunant next week its no wonder i cant sleep!

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 17:07

HpBP your attitude in amazing, if that is getting through to the bean they will be a superstar.

Feedle so sorry. If you got pregnant naturally this time there is no sudden reason why you can't do so again. It just means that our eggs are more likely to have abnormalities so we may have a few m/c's before we carry to term. Thats the way I see it anyyway but despite being experienced in M/C I am no expert in anything else! Premenopause there is also a surge in fertility which I am guessing means it is still likely that you could. If you did it before so recently - no reason why you can't do it again.

Firstbubba Good luck with your scan - assume you have already had a scan if IVF?

I've exhausted myself in the sun, walking through the city, lunch and some shopping. Gym now or sleep?????

Enjoy the sunshine fellow seniors. x

firstbubba · 23/03/2012 18:01

midgetm yes had a scan at 7 weeks seems such a long time ago now and doesnt help me from worrying hoping I will worry less after the scan

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 18:05

Does seem a long gap, thought they did them more often for IVF ladies. I am under the RMC at St Mary's and am very lucky to get them ever 2 weeks. Still spend a lot of time thinking silly thoughts though.

littleredmonkey · 23/03/2012 20:17

Hey lovely ladies

The sun was out all day in Lincoln and the only sniff I got was looking out the window as I passed to go to the shopfloor. I still have to do it all again Saturday. For those of you who have the weekend off please enjoy.

HpBp - You have a lot on your plate, but you are a positive person. Rest and look after yourself. You know where we all are if you need lots of people to talk to xxxxxxx. Hope you had a good lunch on the balcony and dark chocolates .

firstbubba - Hey same as me 43 and first. Let us know how the scan goes xx

LRM I feel duty bound to enjoy the sunshine for you tomorrow.

exexe · 24/03/2012 11:05

So sorry Feedle. I know 2 people who had babies at 45. Not far off so hopefully yes.

I am feeling so rubbish. Really sick and tired. I've been eating lots of toast which seems to be the only thing I can stomach. Its making me bloated and fat (sorry ValiumQueen! I can't start sw yet though I'm desparate too)

Does anyone else feel this bad?

ValiumQueen · 24/03/2012 11:17

Littlered the other one is poorley now Sad The little one is improving though, and was only woken by her sister coughing, and settled herself again. She was up with a fever at 5am, so I medicated her, and Daddy took her downstairs, which was good.

exexe I feel pretty rough too - I could hoover up toast all day. Bread is my downfall, so I do not allow it in my diet at all.

lisbethsopposite · 24/03/2012 15:05

Hello firstbubba,
I'm on second bubba with a donor also. I'm 44.
With #1 I was referred to an EPU and I was scanned regularly, though everything was fine every time. With #2 they scanned me at 7 weeks and as all was fine discharged me. I panicked 1 day as I felt SO well. I wondered if I was still pregnant, so I went into Tesco and got the cheapo test. After a while the FAINTEST pink line appeared in the test window, so I ran to the pharmacy and got another test. This was positive, but I reckoned that since it can be positive 5 days before your period was due, maybe I had only a trace a pregnancy hormone still in my system. I went back to the EPU for another scan the next day and cried when the midwife told me all was well.

Felt a bit of an eejit though.

I'm 12 +1 also. Since we've passed the 12 week date, I think our statistical risk of mc now is very very low Grin

10000fireflies · 24/03/2012 22:50

Just popping in to say hi everyone. Had a long day in town today, and nodding off now, so will be back soon with a proper post when I can concentrate on all your news. Love and hugs to all. FF xx

exexe · 25/03/2012 09:31

ValiumQueen hope your little ones are better now.
Can I just ask you how you're doing on sw and what you're typically eating in a day? I'm getting really concerned about the tightness of my jeans and its def not baby weight at this stage.
I can only join sw Thursday mornings and the last 2 thurs I've had drs appointments.
I'm not telling people yet either as I want to get the tests and 12 week scan done first so don't want to look like I'm getting v fat (which I actually am thanks to lots of bread!)

Hpbp · 25/03/2012 11:31

This week end is so lovely, hope evry one is taking advantage of it!
Decided to go out yesterday and DS fell from his scooter 3m outside of the flat.... Cut his chin so spent all morning at A&E, ni stiches but glue.... We are out again this morning, hopefully nothing else will happen !!! LRM, do you have a day off today, thought about you yesterday while waiting for the doctors.
ValiumQueen, how are the LO? Better, now ?
Firstbubba, try not to think and overstress, enjoy as much as you can, I am trying to make most of each day, although it is hard, but hey, what else can we do ? What will be will be.
Lisbethopposite, welcome to the group and congrats for these first 12 weeks.

Midgetm · 25/03/2012 13:24

Off for a picnic in golders green park. London is gloriously sunny. I am however, dying for a pooh, hormonal as hell and beyond cranky. Hoping the sunshine will beat it out of me. Love pregnancy hate first trimester! I am normally quite perky, currently more like someone with a personality disorder. Think I am even worse than with DD and I was a maniac then! Sunshine make me less crazy please!

littleredmonkey · 25/03/2012 15:53

Hi ladies
Extra sunny welcome to all new ladies.
Hpbp - Hope your little one is ok. Yes got today off work. Had a lazy morning meet a friend for lunch. I have eaten far too much and now resting on my sofa with the sun shining on me. I have to go to friends this evening for a chinese. I hope my lunch digests before hand . I am working 7 till 8 Monday so I am going to be a tad knackered. Persils of retail.
Thursday will be my 12 weeks. All seems very strange
ValiumQueen - Hope little ones ok today ?
mrsnesbit - How ya doing honey ?
Midgetm - How was the picnic - did the sun help with the hormones oh and poo !!! that made me smile dying for a pooh .

Glad you are enjoying your well earned day of rest LRM.

The sunshine took the edge off my rage but not my nausea. Out with 2 friends families, strangely all talking about how unusual it was that we all only had 1 kids, tempting to tell them I have another quarter of one in my stomach. Sunshine was lovely but alas I am still gagging for a pooh!

ValiumQueen · 25/03/2012 19:37

Little ones are much better today thank you.

Had a bit of a scare with DD1 age 5 yesterday, so spent time at GP. She bruises very easily of late, I figured due to her steroid nose spray, but yesterday developed a non-blanching rash. I knew it was not meningitis, but wanted it checked out. They were able to rule out a serious clotting disorder with a wee test, but she needs more investigations. There is a slight chance it could be Leukaemia, but I am trying not to think of that. She generally keeps pretty well, and has been out in the sunshine with her friends most of the day today.

exexe I am doing extra easy so I can eat whatever I fancy at the time. I have Muesli for breakfast with yogurt and chopped fresh fruit, and full leaded coffee (rebel) then a salad for lunch, either couscous or rice based plus meat and a pickled egg (I have to have a pickled egg at least once a day - my craving) then a dinner of meat or fish with pasta, rice or pots, and loads of yummy veg, or a salad. I then have cheese and pickle with a ryvita for supper. I do not go hungry, and am steadily losing weight. I use my syns on mayo, sauces or extra cheese. I do not allow myself to even sniff bread.

heidipi · 26/03/2012 09:36

Hi everyone - hope you all had a good and sunny weekend. Much too nice to be working here.

Mummypocpoc I'd be wondering about a herbal iron supplement so will definitely give Floradix a try, thanks for the tip. Those evil iron tablets broke my bum last time! (sorry TMI)

Am 7 and a half weeks now and bloated - someone congratulated me on being pregnant over the weekend! I denied it (not telling anyone yet) and in any case it can't be baby sticking out yet, I think it's wind! Or possibly cake.

Oh I am so glamorous today. I will leave you all to more refined conversations...

york67 · 26/03/2012 14:02

Hi. Just got secreening test back. 1 in 1800. Really pleased with it. It's even better than my last one 6 years ago. Probably helped by good nuchal.

Hpbp · 26/03/2012 14:09

Hi York67, that must be a relief ! we like good news on such a beautiful day we have in London. I was as surprised as you, for this second baby, screeening was 1/1694 and for DS1 it was 1/350 3.5 years ago... technology must have improved a lot... enjoy

york67 · 26/03/2012 14:14

Thanks hpbn. Hope you get some good news too.

Hpbp · 26/03/2012 14:29

yes, I sure will. Sunday was a bit difficult, I slept a lot but I am back to work today and tomorrow so it should not be too bad, Wed is the day and after that 3 weeks to wait, my OH will take us to Italy for a few days so I can't complain, can I !?
