Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

ValiumQueen · 07/04/2012 20:39

A couple of paracetamol wouldn't hurt, and may help you sleep. It is so very hard not to think the worst with every twinge and visit to the loo. In the due november thread there have been some ladies with proper big bleeds and their little beans are still hanging in there. There have also been a couple who had brown spotting and gone on to lose their little ones. Only time will tell, and there is nothing at this stage that can be done to save a little one. Just rest up, and eat chocolate, and try to relax.

Midgetm · 07/04/2012 20:59

tennerlady big hugs. Sorry you are having such a worrying time. Really could be something of nothing. I've had brown spottig a few times this pregnancy and also with DD. Rest as much as you can, like VQ says, take pareceromol and if pain worsen or you start bleeding call OOH. Try not to worry too much. I had cramps like a devil last night but all fine today. Hope its the same for you x

Tennerlady · 07/04/2012 21:54

In bed pains eased a bit thanks valliumqueen and midgetm going to try sleep and what will be will be speak to you all in morning once again don't know what I would do without this thread to speak to you all goodnight x x x

10000fireflies · 07/04/2012 22:04

Evening Ladies [busmile]

Tenner hope you are continuing to feel ok. If you're in any doubt at all though, contact your EPU/MW. (BTW ladies, what's OOH?)

I am sooo tired. Been meaning to do a proper catch-up post since last night but not got round to it. Made hot cross buns yesterday amongst doing other bits and pieces. As I'd started, had to finish, and they took soo long with over 2 hours of proving along with everything else. Still, must have been ok, only one left, and just me and DH eating them!! [bushock] Shame the weather's not so nice. DH and I have been sorting out garden. Hoping to be able to make the most of it once LO arrives. Come on sunshine!!

Hope you are all doing ok and enjoying a bit of a break if you're not working over Easter. Don't tell the Easter Bunny... I had an overwhelming chocolate craving so was very norty earlier and broke into my Easter egg and carefully unwrapped half, scoffed it, then wrapped it up to look like it was untouched so DH can give it to me tomorrow. [bublush] Baby made me do it!! [bugrin] Hoppy Easter everyone. xx [busmile]

ValiumQueen · 07/04/2012 22:54

OOH is Out of Hours GP service via NHS24.

bobblesmama · 08/04/2012 00:53

Hello again lovely ladies,

My lovely Emilie was born by emcs after getting stuck in an awkward positio. Emcs was fine and all of the staff were fantastic.

Hi valliumqueen just same really but still there only when I wipe not flowing or anything so just taken it easy today thanks x x
Hope everyone ok and having a nice Easter even with rubbish weather x x

exexe · 08/04/2012 14:02

Congratulations Bobble. Lovely name too.

Tennerlady I've heard that blood when you wipe is usually ok. Wishing you well.

I'm feeling a bit fed up today. I think the care I've been getting this pregnancy is so poor that its really getting to me now.
I feel really anxious.
I have my first scan on Wednesday and I had to really fight for that. Ive had no midwife appointment. I'm not even sure how far along I am.
I think about 14 weeks but when the gp had a feel of my stomach about 6 weeks ago, he thought I was further than I thought and started questioning my last period. I'm really paranoid that it might be twins. My mum has twin siblings.
I could not cope with twins.
I am so stressed.

ValiumQueen · 08/04/2012 14:11

exexe at least you will know on wednesday Smile

I have a family history of triplets. I could not cope with triplets, but if I am having triplets I would cope! I would find a way!

Your care does sound poor - a dating scan should surely have been arranged long ago.

Try not to stress - it will not help, or change a thing.

If it is twins, I'll have one!

exexe · 08/04/2012 14:24
Smile Its only because of what the gp said thats causing me to stress, I just hope he didn't really know what hes talking about. Also I have fibroids so that may have made me seem bigger? [hopeful]

I don't know. I know 2 people who've had twins and they look done in! and thats without the two others I will have. Roll on Wednesday!

littleredmonkey · 08/04/2012 17:13

Happy Easter ladies
Hands up who has eaten a whole easter egg and extra chocolates today ?

Bobble - Congrats honey. welcome to Emile .

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Tennerlady thinking positive thoughts for you
Exexe - Thinking of you for your scan on Wednesday. Also kick up a stink if you feel you are not getting the treatment you deserve honey.

Chocolate, Smiles of DS and good news from Bobblesmama made my day today. Welcome to Emily. Let us know how you are doing.
The rest was just rubbish. Going straight to bed, I know, not even 9pm yet but felt very depressed today.... Is it the weather, maybe ?
Tenner, hope you are feeling better today.
Exexe, don't be too anxious, you will find out soon and whatever you have, twin, triplet or singleton, you will cope.
To all, enjoy a lazy Easter Monday

FjordMor · 08/04/2012 22:22

Haven't had time to read more than a few posts down but I wanted to say hi & let you all know that i'm in the manic moving out 2 days then I start a drive back to Norway with DP & a bunch of my stuff on Tuesday - Friday. Not sure when I'll get on via the phone but will try to read & comment when I can.

Tennerlady - try not to worry. I do hope everything's alright. Thinking of you.

Bobblemama - congratulations and welcome Emilie! [busmile] Glad to hear you're doing well.

Exexe - try not to worry too much. I have fibroids and I look like I'm about 6 months along (I'm 14 weeks today - and I am somewhat overweight but my belly is a hard round orb). I had a scan and only one baby there. I was one week further on than I thought but not nearly as much as I look. Fingers crossed for you, but those fibroids do tend to take up room down there.

Will try and check in with you all when I can during the next week and I hope you've all had good Easters. x

Hpbp · 08/04/2012 22:40

Oups, sorry, Bobblesmama and Emilie, i mis spelt your name, so sorry :o

Midgetm · 09/04/2012 08:41

Hpbp hope the chocolate and smiles and a good sleep has managed to cheer you up a bit. Hardly surprising that all you have been through of late would hit you a little but you are full of fighting spirit so I am sure it will pass soon.

Good luck with the move Fjordmor hope it's not too exhausting. I am impressed as cooking a roast dinner nearly killed me yesterday!

Exexe sorry you aren't getting the care you deserve and expect. I would also advise getting pushy. I assume they will off you the other screening rest instead, make sure you quiz them hard! Is it the triple test or did I make that up? We are scan date buddies as I also have mine in Wednesday. 2 more sleeps.

LRM my chocolate effort was lame, 1 creme egg and half a chocolate mousse. Nausea stopes normal chocolate consumption. The bastard. Well done if you manged to scof a whole one.

mrsnesbit hope you are ok. Sending you good vibes for your scan, is it also this Wednesday?

Morning Valium queen, I could really do witha Valium right now. My moodiness is off the scale. I don't like it, I am normally quite chilled and I feel like a tightly coiled spring at the moment. Anyone else being a total freak like me?

I am off to get the Tate to Tate boat along the Thames and get a spot of culture with DD and DH, that is if my moodiness doesn't go off scale! X

exexe · 09/04/2012 09:53

Thank you everyone for your nice words. I'm trying not to stress and I am trying to be pushy - thats the only way I managed to get Wednesdays appointment otherwise it was going to be after April 24.

MidgetM that sounds like a really nice trip. I think I'm going to have to try and do that one! I haven't been to the Tate in ages and I used to love it.

I'm off out to see my new niece today (and try to hide my bump from family!)

Have a good day everyone.

bytheseaside · 09/04/2012 11:23

So much on here to catch up on again! Lovely baby news bobblesmama :) Good luck with scans everyone.

midgetm - Thanks for reassurance - I was bleeding rather than spotting, but baby looked fine on scan last week. Another scan to check coming up this week, so fingers crossed. I know a lot of ladies get it, but blimy it's scary. And I'm with you on the easter choc this year - just don't want it. 1st easter ever I've felt like this.

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one with unpredictable moods. DP has been gamely reading a pregnancy book for dads and has pronounced that yes, I have all the symptoms, nervously adding 'including the mood swings one'... Yes, well, maybe if I didn't have all these hormones taking me over... Unfortunately the farting symptom is back in force today - feel like I need to be put in isolation!

Contemplating a trip to look at the rainy sea today. There's a local cakesale on, so maybe that's just the thing for a gloomy day. xxx

york67 · 09/04/2012 15:29

Hi ladies. So much to catch up on. Congrats bobble.
Just wondering if anyone has purchased a maternity/nursing pillow. I had one with last pregnancy but got rid of it thinking that I wouldn't be having anymore dc.
Been looking but they don't sem to sell that type anymore. Like a big long sausage! Although I think closest is a dreamgenie.
Any advice appreciated.

blackcatsdancing · 09/04/2012 15:48

tennerlady i had a MMC picked up at NT scan, i'd started bleeding 2 days before the scan, only when i wiped, i went to EPU and was examined and told me my cervix was closed and it was brown blood (all reassuring signs) ,but they couldn't scan me there and then so said without a scan they really couldnt say one way or the other, (there was a 2 day wait due to lack of resources ), so i went to scheduled NT scan fearing the worst and sadly we'd lost our little one. I was prepared for the worst and very sadly that was the case for me, it helped that i had prior warning. There is no way to know from the blood what the outcome can be (doctor and sonographer both said that), some women gush bright red blood and all remains well, others have no bleeding and their baby has died. I really hope all goes well for you .I'm TTC again and am in my 40s so read this thread to see how everyone is getting on.

york67 · 09/04/2012 17:32

tennerlady. The thing with bleeding it can go either way. In this pregnancy I had bleeding at 9 weeks. Only a little when wiping. A heartbeat was found and 12 week scan went without a hitch.
Previously I had a mmc. I started bleeding at 12 weeks but it was quite heavy. 2 day later a scan confirmed loss and I was sent away for nature to take its course.
From your post I hope everything will be ok.
blackcatdancing there is always hope.

Hpbp · 09/04/2012 20:40

York67, I have seen a nursing pillow from Theraline at John Lewis as well. You can try Mothercare, there are other brands than Dreamgenii. I like the V shape ones and hated the C shape. I founf that V shape is useful during pregnancy and also afterwards, whereas the C shape could only be used for BF, IMO.
Re MC, ladies, never give up hope. There are lots of us on this thread who have naturally conceived even after 40, and pg went well. As far as I am concerned, I am more worried about the energy we have to find after giving birth for at least 3 years to look after our LO, sleepless nights and running after them... than the pg itself. MC is part of nature and there is nothing we can do, we don't do anything to provoke and can't do anything to avoid, we don't deserve it either, no guilt here but only hope it will be ok and bean is hanging on as much as we do !
FjordMor, take it easy with the move, look after yourself.
Good night everyone
