Morning all! We ended up not moving from the pub last night so my dancing shoes got an airing but not a dancing! :)

I managed to eek out one and a half small glasses of red wine (plus about 3 pints of water) for 3 hours so was quite happy with myself.

Started getting cramps for the last hour though due to my bra being too tight?! Seemed to cause trapped wind - as soon as I got home and took it off I had a good 'expel of air' and all was well again.

TMI? ;)

Anyway - today I shall mostly be spring cleaning and baking Simon Hopkinson's cheese and onion pie and a golden syrup cake.

Btw I put this on the FB page but according to this: www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/naming/knowing-gender-folklore/ my instincts are wrong and I'm having a boy! I can answer 'yes' to just about every statement under the 'you're having a boy if...'

We'll see in 3 weeks if it's right ;)

Happy Sunday everybody xx

Can I come to your house MrsL? I could so eat golden syrup cake. Maybe I'll make one for DH as a surprise...what's your recipe? X

MrsLister · 26/02/2012 11:26

Of course! More the merrier :)

Here's the recipe: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1566633/golden-syrup-cake

We've got syrup left over from pancake day so thought this'd be a nice way to use it up :)

thanks very much!!!

We will be sweating all through the summer together!

had it pretty easy up to now, no sickness or issues really other than a bit of constipation :)

excited for my 20 week scan!

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/02/2012 16:02

Ooh, been away for a couple of days and lovely to see lots of nice things to catch up on plus lovely new people. Welcome one and all, have some cheese on toast and a tea on me! Plus congratulations on your happy news.

SoAngel yes am still knackered a lot. It's getting better, but am still very tired past about 4pm. Don't look preggers really, just fat which is dull despite putting on half a stone since start Jan. Yikes.

We're definitely finding out the sex as I'm impatient and desperate to know. I'd like to get a bit organised with regards to buying things, decoratings etc. As for the other sex, er nothing since early Nov!!! My IVF clinic told me nothing before 12 weeks and then after that, have been too tired to be in the mood which is so dull. Am hoping it picks up soon or else it could be YEARS before we can again...!!!

Might have a nap soon Smile.

MrsMigginslovespies '...It could be YEARS before we can again...!!!' GrinGrin oh how you've made me laugh.

therumoursaretrue · 26/02/2012 19:30

Hope everyone has had a great weekend? Nice to meet all the new people who have popped up Smile

I don't think we will find out the sex. DP would like to but I want a surprise! He thinks it will help us with names but I just think waiting and guessing is all part of the fun!

WRT the other sex we are as active as ever! I did feel really bad though because DP took me to a spa this weekend, booked the master suite, 5 course dinner, massage, facial and mud wrap for me (while he watched the rugby) and after all that I was asleep by 10.30 so there was absolutely no action!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 26/02/2012 19:49

EEK! I go back to work tomorrow after 4 weeks signed off...wish me luck!

Hi dragonleo... The theory about the heart rate is if it's over 140 then it indicates a girl, below obviously a boy. My baby usually has a heart rate of 155 - 170 and today I have found out we are having a little boy :)... My skin is super dry too and funnily enough my shins have the worst! Must get some really good moisturiser.

After all of todays excitment I am exhausted! An early night is definitely in order :)

The3Bears · 27/02/2012 10:13

Hi everyone, welcome to all the newbies! so exciting :)

Cant believe some of you have found out the sex already slightly Envy but congratulations, I cannot wait to find out! On the babycentre link I have a few from each one so not sure about that Confused will find out soon enough anyway 4 weeks tomorrow, hope it goes fast. Have my 16 week appt on Weds hope I get to hear the heartbeat Grin.

Has anyone else bump seemed to pop up out of nowhere this week? I was doing well hiding it and doing up my jeans but this week it seems to have gone higher and it now looks very obvious im pregnant Blush Kind of glad though to be looking pregnant now :)

tashaw28 · 27/02/2012 11:44

Frilly good luck today at work, hope youre feeling ok!

Lovemarmite · 27/02/2012 12:30

Hi, just had my 16 week mw appointment and got to hear the heart beat. My mw warned that it might be hard to hear as they're still quite small, but LO was well behaved and it was heard very strongly straight away.
She told me that you can't tell the sex of the baby from the beat but she did say that some people think that a girl sounds like a galloping horse and a boy sounds like a fast train. LO's beat was definitely a horse galloping, but I don't think we'll go on that! :o

3bears my tummy has popped out now! At 16+2 I have a proper bump now.

I ran to the mw office as I was late, now feeling completely zonked and might need a rest on the sofa - oh dear, must try to get a bit fitter now!

Wishing everyone a good week!

glittershoes · 27/02/2012 13:06

Yes with the itching shins dragonleo!

I am starting to pop but still look at the 'really big lunch' phase I think. So lovely to hear of all the successful scans and heartbeat hearings! I have my 16 week appointment on Thursday so really looking forward to that and then our 20 week scan four weeks on Thursday (seem to be on a similar timescale to you 3bears).

We will be finding out the sex, I was always against it but, now I am pregnant, have found I am just too impatient and curious! I would love to be able to find out and then keep it a secret like some of you but I know myself too well and will definitely blab!

I am being fairly good with the food rules but have had medium steak a few times and have relaxed the no drinking now I am past 12 weeks.

It was our 1 year anniversary yesterday and we had a fairly low key day but I did have two small glasses of wine with dinner which, in hindsight, was too much. I felt awful and definitely the wrong side of tipsy. Will be sticking to one in future if any at all!

JParkson · 27/02/2012 13:09

MrsL sorry, I just had to giggle at that quiz!

Half of the things about having a boy was sooooo right for me when pg with DD - I went for a whole week drinking stock cubes dissolved in hot water (aka bovril but a LOT stronger) and piling on the salt on everything! My hair was very lush, and and DS's 1st word was dada (or daddy). Also, my bump was very forward and low. The moody bit was right though, but I have a shocking temper even when I'm not pg! Blush

Now I think I'm having a boy as although I was sick, not as much as with DD, my hair is lank and horrible, and my bump (what there is of it) is not making its' mind up either way (DS was very much round from hip to hip, but half of that was probably podge... current bump is following that trend alarmingly!) And sweets/fruit/carbs?! Gimme gimme gimme!

Stick with your instincts, as you know your body Wink

Welcome signet and any other newbies I've missed

Well ladies, that was an interesting weekend! Spent most of Saturday traipsing round town trying to replace the valve in our kitchen tap. Only to find that we can't get spares for less than £35 per valve (and that's online!)... and we'll probably need to replace both! So, I am tap shopping as we speak. Had a giggle though as I put Bargain Hunt on just now and the tap was dripping in time with the theme tune!

Then Sunday I spent time with our Youth from our church. We had a lovely service then went to a sports centre. I snuck off to the swimming pool, and had a blissful few lengths peace. Then DS started off a splashing game, and well, peace was gone and he was thoroughly dunked for his efforts!

Ooh! I have maternity jeans! They are Next ones, and they're more comfy than I thought they'd be. I have the tapes round the side (which I prefer to the over-bump ones) and they're very light (in weight) denim. I think I will still try and get a pair or two of NL ones, as they are also v comfy, and I lived in my maternity jeans even after the birth, while my stomach was going down.

The3Bears · 27/02/2012 13:24

Yes Im also 16+2 lovemarmite cant hide mine any longer Grin mine also keeps going hard on one side (mostly my right) I keep thinking it must be when baby is more on one side but not so sure as babys still tiny, its very odd not worried though as it doesnt hurt just feels funny.

Yes we must be about the same glittershoes Im sure you will pop soon enough mine seemed to make me just look a bit bloated and then mid last week it just kind of stuck out more and went higher.

Constantly needing the loo aswell at the minute especially at night when im all comfy and ready to sleep Blush I have a very cheeky baby indeed! I keep trying to do my exercise but cannot do anything with jumps as it must make baby press on my bladder and I need to run to the toilet Blush going to go swimming a couple of times this week though and try to keep fit.

PictureThis · 27/02/2012 13:28

Just had very cheesy lunch, broccoli and caulilower cheese wih a cheese scone, craving now sated.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 27/02/2012 14:38

Thanks Tasha

TMI WARNING...
...I'm going to have to jump on DH tonight no matter how tired I am. It's only been a week and a half, but enough is enough (or rather, not enough is not enough!)! I'm gonna get my sexy on ("get your sexy owwwwn").

Sorry bout that but if you can't share here, where can you?! Grin

OP posts:
JParkson · 27/02/2012 16:00

lol frilly I don't blame you! I had no libido at the beginning of my last 2 pg, and practically tie DH to the bed by the time I'm close to term...!

Vinolover · 27/02/2012 16:07

Enjoy frilly! Is it wrong to say I'm jealous???? I wish I could feel in the least bit interested in having sex again but I'm really not! How was work for you? Hope your sickness has eased again.

I put the deposit down on my pram and car seat today which is quite exciting and very scary at the same time... This is really happening :). The total cost had me in need of a stiff drink afterwards but had to settle for a lime juice and soda though! Thank goodness I can pay it off bit by bit.

What is everyone doing with regards to a Moses basket or cradle? My two had a cradle which was lovely but I gave it away years ago and now I'm unsure what to do. I just don't think this baby will be in a Moses basket for very long but will still be too small for his cotbed. decisions decisions
