There's a 22 week appointment?! Confused. I'm not seeing MW next until 24 weeks, which will be urine, BP and HB for definite, not sure about when they start measuring bump. It'll be good to find out what size I am compared to average - most people are saying that I'm fairly small for my dates, apart from MIL who seems to take any possible opportunity to say "ooh you are showing now aren't you!"

Baby got a little bit more active yesterday and I've noted 5 lots of movements so far today so I think I'll put off phoning the MW for now. (Actually having just typed that I've just had a hefty kick in the guts!)

The3Bears · 03/04/2012 16:07

Poppy Hope your home soon, hospitals are just horrible so boring and nerveracking, I think so anyway.

hamandcheese I dont have my next midwife appt til im 28 weeks but thats because this is my 2nd pregnancy, they usually listen to babys heartbeat at every checkup from after 16 weeks I think.

mcbaby Glad your 20 week scan went well, how terrible about spd though my sister had it and she could hardly walk near the end of pregnancy because of the pain (not to scare you though) she was told to get a band thing that goes at bottom of belly (not sure about the name) by her midwife to help, Just make sure you do relax and take it easy x

The3Bears · 03/04/2012 16:12

In my 1st pregnancy im sure I didnt get meassured til I was 24 weeks, but that was nearly 6 years ago now Grin

Is anyone else not seeing there midwife til 28 weeks? Confused
It seems like a long time but were going to have a 4d scan done at 26-27 weeks so looking forward to that and that will be reassuring, although I feel movements all the time now and they're v strong last night baby was v active and wouldnt stop kicking, was alot of fun Grin

Vinolover · 03/04/2012 16:42

I'm sorry you're going through such as scary time Poppy :( It sounds asthough your baby is absolutely fine in there though and you are in the best place Thanks

I'm not having another MW appointment until im 24 weeks and haven't seen her since 15 weeks. I also don't think im due to have my next bloods done until 28 weeks and I haven't got a clue when she will measure me.

Sorry about you spd Mcbaby. How did yours start? I keep getting an awful pain on my pubic bone if im on my feet for any length of time (not great with my job!), it feels like it has split in two sometimes and im just hoping it doesn't get any worse! It also hurts sometimes when turing over in bed or getting up off a chair. It started a couple of weeks ago but having had a week of work last week with lots of rest it seemed to have disappeared but came back last night after doing a four hour shift.

Lovemarmite · 03/04/2012 17:33

Hope you're doing better Poppy and will be out soon.

McBaby and Vinolover - hope you're pelvic pain is not tooooooo painful and you get some relief and some advice on how to relieve it.

I have very achey hips after sleeping on my right hand side and can;t bear to get up in the morning and then tend to hobble all morning. I think I am getting off lightly maybe.

Have been throwing up today, not sure why but guess it's the nausea back again Hmm

I guess we're a special case now as we have another scan (24 weeks) and a usual midwife appointment at 25 weeks. Our scan will be 3D again, a bit odd as it's not smooth as the equipment catches the images very jerkily.

Hope everyone is doing well.

MrsMigginslovespies · 03/04/2012 18:27

Ick, all this pain is awful. Hope you all feel a bit better soon.

TMI alert, but have just been to the loo and still have tiny bit of brown stuff. Not even enough to show in my underwear, but when I wipe (sorry TMI!). Not exactly a bleed, but like a pre-period show, plus tummy feels very heavy. Stressing me out a bit, must say. Am keeping an eye on it, but thought it was getting a bit better and doesn't seem to be. :(

On the plus side, have found all the old Spooks series on Netflix!

geekette · 03/04/2012 19:04

Icecream and netflix! Take my mind off pregnancy niggles any day of the week.

Still rooting for you Poppy!

Lovemarmite · 03/04/2012 19:42

MrsMiggins hope it clears up soon and that your pelvic pain has eased?
Keep us posted!

susiegrapevine · 03/04/2012 20:04

Hey. My grandad is a lot better. Thanks for everyone for your love and support. He got so much better he did not need the trachotomy. He is awake now and speaking. Is have an operation tmw to fix his heart which has a 60 to 70% sucess rate. But he will die anyway if he doesn't have so keep your fingers crossed ladies. Plus I have my scan tmw!! So could be a very emotional day to day. But grandad says he has gotta live to see his 2nd great grandchild.

poppy hope all is well with you. Sorry to hear its not going to well for you.

Hope everyone else is doing good and there are no more scares!

Lots of love

McBaby · 03/04/2012 21:30

Vinolover I had had back ache and sore hops since about four weeks. (which seemed to be getting better). Then a couple weeks ago I had bad back and stomach pain which I thought was a uti. But over two weeks the pain has got worse and now have sore hips, front of my pelvis and my back. Now it's sore if I walk, sit, lie move too much or stay still!!

I had acupuncture yesterday which relieved it for a while. My plan is to rest to Monday and hope this helps... Just a bit scared it will be an uncomfortable 18 weeks!!

Westcountrylovescheese · 03/04/2012 22:05

MrsMiggins and poppy, lots of hugs and I hope you both feel a lot better really soon.

Suzie, that's good news but will be sending your grandad lots of thoughts for tomorrow... hope ur scan goes well too!

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 03/04/2012 23:05

Thank you all so much for your wishes :) still in hosp, fingers crossed they'll let me home tomorrow, despite some tiny spotting. We're only 2 miles from hosp so can get back quick enough if needed.

Will also be thinking of your grandad omorrow susie. MrsM hope you're resting up. Marmite & vino hope sickness & spd give you a break very soon. Xx

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 03/04/2012 23:10

Ps sorry if I missed anyone off, can't scroll back very well to see all new msgd. Sending you all good wishes anyway.

Did you see due in Oct has part 4 already?! :)

hamncheese · 04/04/2012 07:37

Really glad to hear the positive news for your grandad susie, thinking of you and him and hoping the operation and scan both go brilliantly!

Hope there is no more bleeding for either of you poppy and miggins... why can't this pregnancy lark be less nerve-racking?!

Thanks for the info re: appointments, I guess some of the difference in when and how many is to do with if you are having a first or subsequent baby. I'm going to ask about labour pain relief today as - and I apologise as this will seem idiotic - I'm freaked about vomiting a lot in labour. Think I have a little vomit phobia but after watching that OBEM where they were all puking all over the place (not to mention emitting other bodily fluids) I'm really interested to know if they can give you anti-sickness medication in labour. I am 99% against having an epidural now but all the other pain relief seems to make people sick. Anyway, will let you know if the MW says anything of major interest. I also apologise to those of you who had/have been physically sick (especially poor needles) as to you no doubt my concerns will seem laughable (I was lucky enough to have the all day nausea but no actual vomiting type of MS)

Anyway enough talk about such over breakfast, have a great day all and found this thread for major rants which judging by some of the posts we are making may be useful Wink

NeedlesCuties · 04/04/2012 07:50

hamncheese I found this thread the other day www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/1423999-Emetophobia-fear-of-sickness-in-Pregnancy-Childbirth might be interesting to you.

When I was in hospital in January for hyperemesis treatment they gave me an anti-emetic jab which worked a trick. My advice is to ask your MW at your next appointment. I don't think they'll laugh at you, am sure you're not the first to feel that fear and you won't be the last!

I was a little bit sick during DS's labour.... but I think that's because I was sucking the gas & air like there was no tomorrow... However, I don't have the same vomiting fear as you do so it didn't bother me much.

On average for the first 12 weeks or so I've been sick with this pregnancy around 4 times a day. I'm now 20 weeks and still sick most days. Am still taking those wonderful anti-sickness tablets which stop me being so sick, but I'm still not 'cured'. Not good!

(20+5)

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 04/04/2012 08:06

Morning everyone, still in hosp, but please keep fingers crossed that they'll let me home today :o

hamncheese I've seen lots of ladies in labour come and go here, and the ones that seem to do the best are those who have pethadine, then gas & air.

It's been interesting seeing all the patients in various stages of labour. Like a real life OBEM! Have also learnt alot about babies development inside. And also how bloody hard the nurses and MWs work here, they do an amazing job.

MrsM how you doing today?

Is everyone else doing ok?

panpipe · 04/04/2012 09:51

Poppy sending you some virtual grapes, Lucozade and trashy celeb mags for yet another day in hospital.

So glad to hear your grandad is doing better susie and will be thinking of you today with his op and your scan - here's hoping for a positive outcome for both.

How are you doing MrsMiggins? Hope the spotting and aching has gone, but do call your MW if you're concerned.

I managed to get lucky yesterday and spotted that someone was getting rid of a huge bag of maternity clothes in my size on Freecycle so we took a trip over to collect them. Most of them are pretty good and there are some shorts and linen trousers etc for the summer so that's cut out the need for a potentially expensive and stressful shopping trip! At the moment I've got 1 pair of maternity jeans and 1 black trousers and seem to be managing with them and a lot of the 'normal' tops and dresses that I already own. I think I'm going to try and get a nice maternity dress as we've got a party and a wedding to go to over the next 2 months but then I'm hoping not to have to buy anything else!

miaboo · 04/04/2012 10:06

Morning
Have my 20 weeks scan today so hopefully will be buying blue or pink today! Stupidly excited even though this is my 3rd baby but also alittle nervous as it was the 20 week scan that picked up my 2nd had a 2 vessel cord so put a real downer on the day last time, Fingers crossed for a girl or this is going to be my 3rd boy! but also liking the sound of 3 boys to!! :)

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 04/04/2012 10:47

Good luck miaboo how exciting! Thanks panpipe gratefully receiving all of those :o

Lovemarmite · 04/04/2012 10:48

Hope your scans go really well miaboo and susie, and your grandad is feeling better too

Sending you some Thanks Poppy and hope you get out today!

Had a washing machine repair man pop here this morning and I was really sick - he smelt of something really unpleasant, I think it was the oils they use (I hope) and he smoked too so I was retching the whole time - poor chap but ughhh! How come my ms is back and now resorting to actually being sick? two days in a row now. Yikes, me too not enjoy being sick, not quite a phobia but high on my list of ahhh nooooooo's!

Fab find panpipe! might have to check it out too!

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 04/04/2012 10:51

panpipe that's a bonus! There's never anything like that on our freecycle, although I did get a maternity bundle of Next stuff from ebay for £9,so that wasn't too bad really.

I have some advice - make an overnight bag and keep it somewhere nearby, just in case (am sure it could easily be made into hospital bag nearer due date!). Didn't have anything with me, and DO (bless him) has done his best to bring stuff ib

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 04/04/2012 10:52

That should be DP. Stupid phone!! :o

MrsMigginslovespies · 04/04/2012 11:25

Hello all,

Hope you had an ok night Poppy and you get home soooooon! Am feeling still sore today and it's not eased at all, though fingers crossed the bleeding has eased up. Thanks all for your nice messages. And am sending get better soon messages back out to all those being sick. Bloody miserable and hop you find some relief. Ham, I know what you mean about the sick (and for me, especially all the other er, emissions) during labour. God, I couldn't bear it if I had to go in bed. It actually really freaks me out. Anti sickness injections are amazing and well worth the stinging needle. Anyhooooo, on this lovely subject, must head off and see if I can see a MW or someone today about the soreness. Still snowing on and off here. x

The3Bears · 04/04/2012 13:23

susie So glad to hear your grandad is doing better, will keep fingers crossed for him. Hope your scan goes well aswell x

poppy Hope you get sent home today :)

panpipe Thats so good, im still in normal clothes atm but did get some more floaty tops etc and size 12 topshop leigh jeans which are v comfortable and very stretchy.

hamncheese I had gas and air in labour with ds and was never sick just made my mouth v dry, I would hate to be sick during labour especially in summer when the rooms are so warm anyway, really hoping for a water birth this time around.

Hope you feel better soon mrsmiggins and anyone else feeling rubbish atm.

Cant believe your ms is back marmite how dreadful hope it goes soon.

miamoo good luck with your scan today, let us all know what your having :) I havent stopped baby shopping since finding out dp is actually getting annoyed now Blush

Hope everyone has a great day, Im watching yogi bear with ds and have eaten a tube of mini eggs Blush v greedy, but it is easter after all and the weather is terrible so not really much else to do :)

capecath · 04/04/2012 13:36

3Bears oo mini eggs. Easter is great excuse for chocolate. And bring on the water birth! Was also fine with gas&air - loved the stuff and didn't make me ill even though I am a little prone to stuff making me feel ill.. Nothing like needles though.. and marmite oh dear.. have to admit thought of a smelly man making you ill did make me smile :P Hope it doesn't continue!

miamoo excited for you! poppy Here's hoping for today. Off to get bag packed...

Just been enjoying miserable weather at an indoor play area, brilliant.

Feel like we're all going through a journey together - exciting stuff!
