PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 29/03/2012 23:29

thanks for the tips susie, hope your grandad is on the mend soon, and you get to see him.

capecath weird puffy feet thing started yesterday, my feet go all hot and feel a bit weird and today when I looked down they were all puffed up and bulging out my flipflops - oh so glam! Confused I've got an antenatal appt with my GP on Tuesday, so will check with then, thanks for the tip.

Good luck to everyone with scans :)

hamncheese · 30/03/2012 07:49

Good to hear positive news on scans...congrats on your boy miggins Grin but now I have the question what happened to all the girls!!?

My feet have been getting really sore poppy like from the weight I think. Perhaps should be wearing thicker soles but love my Toms too much especially in this weather! Is anyone else absolutley aching at night? I feel brilliant when I wake up and through most of the day but come like 6pm I start to droop and by 8pm I need to be horizontal due to a combination of ridiculous rib pain, back pain, achey legs and dead feet haha!Have been trying to be up and about and walking as much as possible but surely if this is now then what the heck is to come Shock

Feeling a bit disappointed at the impending end to the warm weather...

(20+5)

glittershoes · 30/03/2012 08:31

Hello all!

We too had a lovely scan yesterday and are also having a BOY!

Really shocked by it and still wonder if they are wrong (even though the sonographer seemed pretty sure!) but excited too!

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 30/03/2012 08:56

Congrats glitter :o another boy, yay!
MrsM I don't get achey, until I get to bed. I usually sleep on my front, so sleeping on my sides is making me a bit achey by morning. Confused

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 30/03/2012 08:56

Sorry, that sh

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 30/03/2012 08:58

Arrgh! Stupid phone! Sorry Blush

that should have been hamncheese not awake yet! I (how do you delete posts?)

MrsMigginslovespies · 30/03/2012 11:10

Oooh, me too, me too with the puffy feet. Am like elephant woman. Asked my MW yesterday at scan as was a bit concerned and she said that some people are just prone to water rentention during pregnancy :( But she said to drink a lot and elevate elevate as much as possible and to put a pillow under your feet at night in bed. Did this last night and they're back to normal today so far. Looks hideous though when all puffy. Also feel heavy and achey by the evening and need to put feet up, the joy.

Feeling happy about baby boy today and really excited about it all, but was wondering if anyone on our thread is having a girl?! x

hellokit · 30/03/2012 11:18

The3Bears · 30/03/2012 13:03

Im not aching at all at the minute hamncheese but my tiredness has returned Ive been falling straight asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow at night which is odd as I usually take a while to nod off.

Lovemarmite · 30/03/2012 16:14

Hope your grandad gets better to susie x

Thanks 3bears and everyone for your support x

I am finding it hard tbh as I am worrying way more than I possibly should be. I have my midwife coming to see me on Monday and I'll talk it through with her. We then have a specialist cleft nurse coming at some point to see both of us and go through procedures etc and I see that there's a lot of support. I can't quite help blubbing or more like balling my eyes out at times though but I am trying to be positive. I guess I am worrying that there might be more wrong and this is hampering any thoughts of trying to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy. I feel like if I don't get happy soon then I'm making the LO worse! Sorry to offload x

miaboo · 30/03/2012 16:32

Hi lovemarmite
I know this is a worrying time but you must try and enjoy it with my 2nd we were told he had a 2 vessel cord at the 20 week scan and for a couple of days after I did nothing but cry and google it! We were told he could be born really early, his facial features might not have fully developed, hearing problems lots of things!!
Then after a few days its liked I snapped out of it, he was our baby, we were having him and would love him no matter what.
We would deal with it whatever.
Enjoy your pregnancy :) :)

The3Bears · 30/03/2012 17:15

Marmite offload here all you want, thats what were all here for x

Its completely understandable that you would be finding it hard atm I think anyone would, Hopefully once you've talked with your midwife and the specialist cleft nurse you will feel a little more informed and hopefully more positive as a result. I really hope you feel better then and enjoy your pregnancy more. Try to have a relaxing weekend, I really dont want you to be crying all the time :( is your dh there to help you and have a good talk with I always feel much better after talking to someone about something thats upseting me, sending you lots of hugs x

The3Bears · 30/03/2012 17:17

Welcome hellokit :)

Vinolover · 30/03/2012 17:25

Oh Marmite I'm sorry you're feeling so down :( I'm sure they would have been really thorough when scanning you to make sure there were no other issues with your baby so try and stay positive. (I know that's easy for someone else to say). Your baby is going to be absolutely beautiful, as all babies are :) I think it's just the shock of it all at the moment but it will pass and you will start to enjoy your pregnancy again.

I went to a maternity shop today and have bought two pairs of the most amazing maternity jeans! Bloody hell they are so comfortable, it's unbelieveable! I also got a couple of tops, one of which can be used for feeding :) It's so nice to put some clothes on again that actually make you feel good about yourself, rather than frumpy!

Hope you swelling is ok today Poppy.

Thanks for all your replies
I seem to be going from 'positive and all is fine' to 'ahhh help!' and hopefully I will be just positive soon.
I've only boo'd twice today whereas it was all morning yesterday. Hoping that like miaboo it will just be a few days to get on with it.

Hoping to a good weekend for everyone x

PictureThis · 30/03/2012 21:53

Marmite I've been thinking about you and your scan all week. It's only normal to worry as until (s)he's in your arms and you can see everything for yourself your mind won't rest.

Welcome hellokit

Well we were back at fracture clinic this morning (after I finished a night shift) and DD has definitely broken her leg. They changed her cast from a back slab to a plaster one, a sparkly purple sparkly one no less, which she is somewhat delighted with. Anyway, it has to be on for another 3 weeks so we've also got a wheelchair for her for when we're out of the house as she's not finding the crutches easy to get around on.
With all the hoisting DD around this week when DH is at work, my tummy has been really sore. I had a check up at work, LO is fine so that's reassuring and DD is getting better as helping herself move about.

Gingerelle · 30/03/2012 22:17

Hope you're doing ok marmite- it sounds like an understandably 'up and down' time for u at the mo but I hope support from those around u is helping. Like others on here I've thought of u a lot this week.

We had our scan this morning which was good, though absolutely shattered tonight after a sleepless night worrying about it last night.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend xxx

miaboo · 31/03/2012 16:33

Afternoon
My little baba is getting stronger and dh is feeling more kicks now as this one seems to be behaving and not stopping like the other 2 did when I made him move to feel the bump!!
Today I'm feeling on a mission to look different?? I've just been and had my hair cut, done my nails and bought new make up, just got to dye my hair now! Dont know if it's hormonal or just a desire to try and make myself look like a yummy mummy Hmm

Delee · 31/03/2012 16:45

in my experience it can get pretty boring once you stop work. I've been following a really fun blog by a doctor that might distract you. lots of stuff about being a new mum. hope you like it too :) medicalmummy.com

Westcountrylovescheese · 31/03/2012 17:54

New flash ladies...

....my hair is different, in a good way. Seems like that is more of it, it's soft and it appears to be doing more or less what I tell it. Please tell me this is hormones and it will stay lush till at least August?

I'm off to swish a bit more...

geekette · 31/03/2012 19:39

Went to my first bra fitting ever in my life today. I was so hopeful that I had finally left the A cup range (truth be told, the A cups were a bit big for me.) And my usual bras had really begun to be quite uncomfortable.

Guess what? I have gone from a 32A to a 38A...

I didn't know the rib cage could expand for the baby too!!! Is there any part of my anatomy which is safe? The poor fitter tried her best to comfort me and reassure me that it will all go back to normal and it was all natural.

Came home in tears. Made me realise I must have some extra hormones around too. Normally i wouldn't have been too fussed. Oh well.

Hang in there marmite! The LO will be here soon enough for you to love and care for :)

susiegrapevine · 01/04/2012 08:37

Hey marmite hope you are doing better now.

Update on my grandad, its not good the whole left hand side of his heart is damaged. He can have an operation to fix it but its very high risk and if it doesn't work he will die. Or he can be put on loads of drugs to hopefully sort it out but will be in hospital much longer and when he comes out he will have a rubbish quality of life with difficulty breathing most of the time. Is have a traciotomy today so he does not have to have a tube down his throat anymore then we can speak to him and see what his choice is as they can wake him up properly. Which ever way is pretty rubbish.

Plus to add to my stresses ny car broke down on the way home from mils friday. Its the cam belt so we had a recovery truck ride for 50ish miles the rest of the way home! Luckily we had breakdown cover which covered the cost. Anyway car may or may not be fixable but will have to wait for brother in law who luckily is a mechanic to take a look and tell me if it can be fixed!! Not the stress o needed on top of everything else. Hope little bump is ok!

geekette · 01/04/2012 10:26

susie, bump is most likely happily swimming in away his/her sea of oblivion and enjoying itself! Good luck with your granddad! It does sound a bit much but hopefully you and your family will hang in there.
