theressomethingaboutmarie · 13/03/2012 15:03

Just back from my 16 week check up. All was great. Heard baby's heartbeat again which was such a thrill. Feel exhilarated!

Lovemarmite · 13/03/2012 15:44

Great to hear scans went well miaboo rumours and theressomethingaboutmarie! Very exciting to hear heart beat and all is great :)

Just hoping for a few kicks soon so I know all is fine!

I know what you mean vinolover chocolate is a good friend of mine! I've been reading this book Origins which says that in a study, women who ate 5 or so pieces of chocolate everyday had very happy and smiley babies. I'm going with this advice!

therumoursaretrue · 13/03/2012 16:08

Thanks marmite. It's so nice to hear about your check ups too miaboo and marie, glad all is well.

I am booked for a triple test on Thursday and still in 2 minds about it really. Think I am just nervous.

I love the chocolate advice...I think I will take that on board too :)

theressomethingaboutmarie · 13/03/2012 16:29

Lovemarmite - I wil have a VERY happy and smiley baby if the chocolate theory is correct. I've been working from home today and eaten like a horse!

theressomethingaboutmarie · 13/03/2012 16:30

therumoursaretrue - what's a triple test? I've not heard of that before.

glittershoes · 13/03/2012 16:30

So much news I have missed!

So sorry about your news rumours hope that you and your family are coping as well as you can be.

It is really exciting to hear all the news of boys and girls coming in! I cannot wait to find out - two weeks on Thursday!

We have been so so busy, hence the absence, we are moving on Friday so it is all go with packing and sorting (YUCK!) and, just to help matters, I headed down to Wales over the weekend with my family (DH had to work unfortunatly) and went to the Wales v Italy 6 nations game at the Millenium Stadium.

It was amazing and, even more excitingly, I felt the baby move for the first time during the match! It was lovely and even better to tease DH that the baby was definitely a little Welsh dragon! It was probably the noise and the fact I was jumping up and down every five minutes that made it kick hard enough for me to feel!

susiegrapevine · 13/03/2012 19:38

rumours sending love to you and all you family. Sorry to hear the bad news.

marmite yes my nipples are feeling sore and I think I know what you mean if the yellowish bits are like pin prick soze right on the end of your nipples then these are the little holes your milk will come out of. Still had little signs of this from ds but more promenant again now. Gave my nipples a little squeeze and got a little liquid come out so nipples defo will start leaking from now on. Happened around the same time with my 1st pregnancy as well I seem to get milk really early!! Guess I'd better not wear unwires anymore!

Glad to hear everyones scans are going good mines not till the 4th april. Got my 16 week midwife apt tmw tho am 17 weeks today. Hoping to hear the heartbeat. Getting very excited!!

Vinolover · 13/03/2012 19:45

I'm loving that chocolate theory Marmite! I know what I shall be buying tomorrow Wink

My nipples are really sore too. It seems to be worse some days (like today) than others and there is definitely some sort of stuff that's dried on them (nice). I hope this means I will get milk because I didn't breast feed my first two children and would love to give it a go this time but I always assume I won't be able too because im not exactly blessed with large breasts and even though I leaked slightly last time, I didn't exactly leak very much... Will give it a whirl anyway :)

geekette · 13/03/2012 19:48

good going glitter! goodness knows where you find the energy for a match tho! The mere thought makes me think bed time!

Hey rumours, cheers & hugs my dear...

And another first-time-baby-heart-beat-heard-by-midwife here! Quite an uplifting performance. Gave me a smile all day. pity i am all tired again now and just waiting for the next puking round.

geekette · 13/03/2012 19:54

Oh and Vino, my mom has a really flat chest. Think pancakes... she breastfed all five of us for at least a year each! (or so she says. I can only remember her breast feeding our last, personally. I wasnt old enough to witness the others but i believe her)

I started off with a very flat chest too but hoping I can replicate her success...

Gingerelle · 13/03/2012 20:05

Hi all! Hope you're all ok- sounds like a very up-and-down time for lots so I hope you're all doing alright. We finally moved at the weekend which has been stressful and frantic but good to be in the new place now. Work has gone crazy so at least I'm not juggling that and the move any more.

How's everyone's bumps coming along? I'm 17+4 and still hardly showing- really want to look pregnant now!

Angel786 · 13/03/2012 20:31

Soreboobs: check

Chocolate: check check check

Lack of consistent sleep: check

Anyone-else absolutely ravenous? I'm eating sooo much, breakfast, lunch, extra lunch between 4-6 then dinner plus ice cream (developed a thing for magnums) or choc...

Good news on all the scans and hearing heartbeats am a wee bit Envy x

Anyone tried/ have the hack freerider tandem pram? I've checked the reviews and can't see anyth on MN or online - need a boring practical double and don't want to spend a small fortune as I did first time around?

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 13/03/2012 21:04

Wow, so many posts!

So foggy and forgetful, ok that means a girl for me then! :o although everything else points to a boy... we shall see. Needles very happy to have boy or girl added to list, we find out on Thursday - eek! Cannot wait! (thanks for keeping the list so up to date, hope no more litte one tantrums!)

Time doesn't feel like it's going quickly, these have been the longest 20 weeks... Glad that it's not going too quick though as not got a house yet (glitter and ginger hope your house moves/moving went/goes ok)

rumours really very sorry to read that :( hope you're getting all the support you need. Brew

Congrats on finding out dragon and 80s and so pleased to read about all the movements and heartbeats - yay! I am feeling movements on a regular basis now, only little ones though and they're quite erratic.

Marmite I hope that book is correct, that means bump is going to be one very very happy baby!

ginger Definitely have a bump now, there's no hiding it Blush (19+3), I'm sure yours will be along soon

AND - I am officialy Thanks blooming - according to the many people I've manage to meet up with over the last week, most of whom I hadn't told and hadn't seen bump. :o

Angel Can't help I'm afraid :(

Phew, long post (sorry ladies)

NeedlesCuties · 13/03/2012 21:09

Vino I didn't leak at all when I had DS, not a drop. Bought a box of breastpads and didn't use any of them. I breastfed him for 11 months though, and he was a thriving healthy boy.

I've always had decently sized boobs though Wink

(17+4)

susiegrapevine · 13/03/2012 21:23

vino don't think breast size has anything to do with it everyone should be able to breast feed . If you really want to just stick with it and if you have any problems find a local support group. I had no problems but mine helped greatly with my confidence in feeding in public. Just remember to drink lots when feeding also it might be an idea to pop along to a group before baby is born to find out what its all about.

Angel786 · 13/03/2012 21:30

I second Susie, vino I'm usually a 34b went up to 34 dd when bf. Drank soooo much water! I did have probs bf (cracked nipples oe bleeding as dd had a strong suck) but got better after a week/ two. Good luck!

MrsLister · 13/03/2012 22:16

Hi ladies - I've been away in Dorset hence lack of communication. You've all been busy!!

Love the chocolate theory marmite - not that I need an excuse!!

Had my gender scan today - it would appear my instincts are up the spout as one of the first things we saw on the screen was a bloody great big willy waggling about!! Hahahaha.

So - my first child will be a son! Exciting :)

Hope you're all well - will pop back and have a good read of posts when things have calmed down at work. Currently being punished for daring to have 3 days off eye roll

Mrs L xx

PictureThis · 14/03/2012 08:25

How very dare you have time off Mrs L!Wink. I did laugh at your post, your boy's not shy then!

My boobs have grown at an alarming rate, from a 38D to a 40 FF! Hells Bells my poor baby will be positively overwhelmed at feeding time, well wouldn't you if faced with something bigger than your headGrin.
I'm getting really sore hips at night already so I may invest in a Dreamgenii pillow as it seems to have great reviews. Will it help? We'll see.

susiegrapevine · 14/03/2012 09:18

picturethis I bought that pillow for my 1st pregnancy and it was the best! Even encourages baby to stay the right way for birth. Ds was always the right way round and I swear it was the pillow. Must get mine back out as I am getting achey at night. Its defo worth the money.

PictureThis · 14/03/2012 09:59

Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely get one as it can only help and looks useful postnatally as well.

farmerswifey · 14/03/2012 11:44

Just had our 20 week scan earlier today - Little one is the perfect size for our dates with no structural development issues, or as my notes say 'All's Well, no concerns' The sonographer thinks we will be having a little girl (can't be 100% certain but near enough) I've thought 'girl' right from the very start, although didn't quite dare to believe I was right - we couldn't be happier :)

Lovemarmite · 14/03/2012 13:22

Excellent news farmerswifey, MrsLister and geekette!

Sorry on a different note, we had sad news about our pussycat as lab results came back as mouth cancer and so terminal. Not sure how long he has and this is making it hard at the moment. Don't want to depress anyone and so making it very brief!

Feeling very low and a little concerned as I've gone very cold too, not sure if it's my blood pressure or just a bit of shock. Although sitting by a window in the sun and warming up which is nice. This maybe TMI but I had a touch of tummy troubles yesterday and my bump has gone down a little bit and I seem to have lost any feeling inside. I think the feelings must have been gas, constipation and definitely bloating and so after having lost all the excess, I am eagerly awaiting to feel something. 18+5 Has anyone else experienced this at all as I am a little concerned?

pintofmilk · 14/03/2012 13:26

Rumours sorry to hear your news, I went through the same thing last year so know how you must be feeling. Sending hugs.x

Needles Please could you change my Due Date to 19th August.(thanks)

Sore boobs-Yes
Leaking-Yes
Hungry-All the time

Feeling fed up today, when people you know have found out your news are you all greeted with 'Congratulations'? Or is the first thing out of their mouths either....
'Oh Dear'
'Was it planned'
'Bet that was a shock'???????????????????

Just because my last one was born 8 years ago I think people thought I had 'shut up shop'. This baby was planned, is with my new partner ( well of 4 years), so ok different Dad from the others but hey why do people assume it was an accident!! It took ages to conceive. GGGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry to moan, but I know you ladies will understand my frustration.

Angel786 · 14/03/2012 13:45

I hear you pint I find it quite inappropriate when people ask/ assume it wasn't planned. Not saying there's anything wrong with either planned / unplanned but would prefer not to discuss in detail ESP with colleagues!

lovemarmite sorry to hear about the cat and hope you also feel back to normal soon. I think in the early days the movements can seem infrequent as you ply detect some ( usually when lying down.) maybe try some come / chocolate and then lie down to see if you feel the kicks?

Good news on the scan farmers
