Hello all,

Not been on in a few days and lovely LOVELY to hear all your scan results and heart beats. Am very jealous and can't wait till 29th. I went to a good anti-natal physio group yesterday which was v useful. Told us how to try and minimise pelvic pain, how to get in and out of bed (!) and other things too. Am 18 weeks today and only really have a little bump, so am envious of yours! I still just look a bit fat.

Love so sorry to hear about your cat Sad. And also hope you feel better soon with your tummy. I've been a bit meh recently with tiredness and headaches, plus am not enjoying my random work and although the money is useful, would jack it in tomorrow given the chance. Hardly seem to have seen DH and just want to at home doing lovely baby things. On the plus side, have bought some baby sleeping bags and DMum has been buying all sorts of things which is lovely. DMIL still being bit odd...

Anyhoo, sorry for dull rant, but lovely to see you are all thriving. Saw my first lambs of Spring today! x

hamncheese · 14/03/2012 15:55

Really sorry to hear about your cat marmite hugs to both you and kit Thanks x

Vinolover · 14/03/2012 17:07

MrsL that really made me giggle! My little one was exactly the same and I have a fantastic picture of it Wink.

I'm so sorry about your cat Marmite :(

I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old pint and I get the same thing too. People assume this is my first because Im still quite young and they then look horrified! We actually had to pretend to pil's that this baby was an accident which I hate having to say because he was very much planned.

fairtradelu · 14/03/2012 17:10

Sorry to hear the sad news rumours and marmite. Sending cyberhugs your way.

I had my 16-week midwife appointment today and heard the heartbeat :) I found it quite a bizarre experience tbh, but nice to get further confirmation there is something in there - still haven't felt any movement, although bump is getting bigger by the day.

Was also told some slightly disconcerting news: Apparently I am a carrier of Group B Streptococcus :S They picked it up in a urine sample I gave when I had an infection weeks ago. They've given me a leaflet and said I'll have to have antibiotics during labour. The leaflet covers the basics but includes symptoms and issues that can happen if the bacteria is passed onto the baby so now I am freaking out a little bit. It sounds like it can be quite serious if the baby does get the infection. Am trying to tell myself they have to provide all the information but as the midwife didn't seem too worried it'll all be fine, but I can't help worrying. Has anyone else been told they've got this? Trying not to panic!

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 14/03/2012 17:12

marmite very very very sorry to read about your cat, ours is really old so whenever there's a vets trip I do get worried about what they'll say. Sending you a Brew.

My bump seems to object to english breakfast tea, and pretzels. I had both yesterday and it was having a bit of a manic day - it also doesn't like it when I lean forward too much and pokes me to move - maybe try some of those tactics? :)

pint I'm always shocked at what people say, I can't believe some of the quite direct and person questions people ask... and the 'was it planned?' 'bet that was a shock' questions/comments really bugs me. What does it matter, and why do they need to know? hrump! Angry

I am also a bit taken aback when people comment on my size or how big I'm getting - when would you ever voluntarily say someone looked fat or their belly was big to them? - when? Blush

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 14/03/2012 17:14

Congrats on the scan farmers and a little girl - excellent! :o

cupoftea123 · 14/03/2012 20:21

hi everyone, I'd like to join you on here, I'm 19+6 (i finally hit the halfway mark tomorrow, hooray!) have enjoyed reading back about sore boobs, broken sleep, hunger pangs and bump size comments from collegues... 20 week scan is next weds, due date is 2nd August. This is my 3rd pregnancy but it's gone on the furthest so far (3rd time lucky), had a late loss last year but have recovered as best we could and feel, all things considered, pretty calm and optimistic about this little bubba. My current dilema is whether or not to find out the gender next week... this is something EVERYONE else has an opinion about! I reckon we'll not be able to resist the temptation :)

susiegrapevine · 14/03/2012 20:27

Sorry to hear about your cat marmite

Heard babys heartbeat today yay! Was really moving as well heard lots of kicks. Tho all of this was over ds's crying. He wanted to stay in reception and run about not be in a little room with the midwife!

geekette · 14/03/2012 20:52

Oh Marmite, poor cat :(
I can't have furry pets because of an allergy but i and dp still love them.

Seriously, where is my bloom??? I begin to fear that all i will remember of the second trimester is feeling really good in the morning, then bloated, sad to the point of crying and very uncomfortable in the stomach at night!

Am I the only one?

geekette · 14/03/2012 20:56

missed these: Congrats susie and welcome cupfotea :)
good luck with this one cupoftea, you must be getting quite excited now!

is this what people usually refer to as xpost?

NeedlesCuties · 14/03/2012 21:02

fairtrade I remember seeing some threads recently in the Pregnancy section about Group B Strep. I advise searching for them and reading about real experiences and things that the MW might not tell you. I don't know anything about it really, but I know there was a bit of an awareness raising here in Northern Ireland about a year or so ago.

I'm feeling so sleepy, so emotional and a bit meh today. Not a good day. Nothing bad actually happened, just my energy, motivation and bloom has faded.

Need to sleep, sleep, and then sleep some more. Still feeling soooo stupidly sick and I had to stop myself from vomiting about 10 minutes ago :( I hate you hyperemesis.

tashaw28 · 14/03/2012 21:16

I love my pregnancy breasts!!! Just thought I'd add that!

Angel786 · 14/03/2012 22:11

welcome cupoftea

fair sorry I can't be of assistance. I looked into Strep A as I had it early on in pg but am sure it's more common than we think and well trodden ground for the midwives.

My sleep is so interrupted, keep waking lots at night...

Geekette fear not - the bump will come! Mine didn't show til around 4-5 months with dd1.

As for people commenting - it's either "wow have you got twins!?" (no in my case) or "where's your bump you're so small"... can't win either way!

McBaby · 14/03/2012 22:15

Another strep b carrier here. Trying to think on the positive side that it's good they found it as its not a routine test in the uk, but is in most of the world.

I think the main things from myt discussion with the midwife is getting to the hospital early enough to have at least fou hours of antibiotics and having to stay in for observation for 24-48 hours after the birth.

hamncheese · 15/03/2012 08:05

Felt the baby properly this morning. Was lying in bed this morning and could feel those achey pressures again, and then ones like popping the wee bit on the top of an opened jar, and then properly wobbly movements like baby was flopping and turning Grin woohoo! I think it just took lying really still to be able to feel them.

geekette I've been feeling great all mornings, okay all afternoons and then more tired and sicky in the evenings. Think it's mostly general aches and pains combined with heartburn in the evening that's causing it! Least have the mornings :)

(18+2)

fairtradelu · 15/03/2012 08:06

Thanks Needles and Angel for the advice and McBaby for your message. It is good to know there are others in the same boat (without wishing complications on others). You make a good point that at least they have picked it up, and I suppose they must be used to dealing with it. It just came as a bit of a shock, that's all. I'm going to have a rummage through the other threads and see if I can find anything else. I'll report back if I come upon something helpful.

On another note - great news for all those of you starting to bloom. I'm not quite there yet but am feeling a lot better this week (16+3 now).
And even greater news about chocolate - 5 a day is a bit of a challenge but after having completely gone off chocolate for the first month of pregnancy (and I am a total chocoholic), I have been more than making up for it since :)

fairtradelu · 15/03/2012 08:23

I've found a helpful link to the Group B Strep support group - www.gbss.org.uk/content.php?section_id=3&sub_id=15&content=FAQs#17 - for anyone else looking for info.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 15/03/2012 09:00

The 'was it planned' question makes me laugh. What do they expect in response? "Yes, unfortunately, were going at it like hammer and tong but were so full of passion and in the moment that we decided to cross our fingers."

Lovemarmite · 15/03/2012 09:35

My best one has been (during a moan about constant morning sickness) "Are you regretting it now?"
It was said sincerely too and not jokingly Hmm

I woke up this morning and now feel back to my old size but just with a tiny bump. I seem to have lost the bloated-ness but have now a few feelings like twinges and so maybe they're kicks... just wish I knew? Hmm

Lovemarmite · 15/03/2012 09:51

A quick question - when I had my 16 week appointment, I had no blood sample taken and have been wondering if I should have done?
It was a different mw as mine was off sick. Was the strep b picked up from this sample or one before?

theressomethingaboutmarie · 15/03/2012 09:55

Hi lovemarmite - I didn't have bloods taken at 16 weeks either. I don't know when they next do them.

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 15/03/2012 10:02

:o @ theressomethingaboutmarie that's too funny!

lovemarmite I didn't have bloods taken at 16wks, so I think it must be the first lot, MW didn't mention strep b, but I'm not immune to rubella :( so have to be extra careful...

20wk scan today (even though I'm only 19+5), very excited! :)

Stinkyminkymoo · 15/03/2012 10:15

Aww marmite I'm sorry about your cat. My darling Norwegian Forest Cat was pts a few weeks ago, I miss her terribly but she was getting old and had a liver problem so it was for the best. Sad

I have been feeling loads of movement, probably helped by the fact I'm lying in bed with a nasty cold and feel grim. My DH bought a fetal heart monitor as he missed he heartbeat at my 16 w appt. it is so lovely to hear it whenever I like, it wasn't very expensive and it's quite reassuring too.

(18 + 5) needles can you change my due date to August 11th please Grin

Lovemarmite · 15/03/2012 10:16

Thanks for letting me know about the bloods.

Hope the scan goes well today Poppy!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for our pussycat too! x

MrsMigginslovespies · 15/03/2012 10:35

Morning all,

Am finally not at work for a bit and so pleased. Geekette, am with you a lot on the lack of blooming. Just feeling blooming tired most of the time, esp at night still. Am putting it down to not being able to rest much plus very low BP. I also didn't have bloods done at 16 weeks either, so assume all is ok...

Am hoping that the funny feeelings I've been getting are baby moving. DH has poked about felt my tummy a few times now and can't feel them yet, but I'm sure that's what they are. EXACTLY like popping that bit on a jar lid, good analogy. And a tiny bit uncomfortable imo, but still amazing!

So, I mentioned last week that DDog trashed my posh bar. I've replaced it with this one, and it's great: www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/ShowDetails.asp?id=199

I bought it in Chai and am tempted too by black another time. It crossed two cups sizes which I wasn't sure about at first as it looks MASSIVE, but actually, once on, is really nice. Anyhoo, thought I'd let you know.

Off to do some bits around the house and sort out emails. Tis almost the weekend... x
