farmerswifey · 08/03/2012 15:07

Hi Needles please could you add me to the list; I'm due on the 31st July (originally 4th August) I will be 30 years old and this is baby number 1 to be born in Aberystwyth - Wales.

Anyone else overly emotional at the moment? I found myself in tears whilst in Morrisons today as they had 'Tale as old as time' from Beauty and the Beast on the sound system. I was a big wuss to begin with, but this is getting ridiculous!

NeedlesCuties · 08/03/2012 15:08

Poppy DS was born a week early.

Funny thing was he was due on a Saturday and DH and I had set aside in our minds the Saturday before that date to learn how to assemble the crib, the car seat and how to work the pram etc. Trouble was DS had other plans and my waters broke when I was in bed asleep at 3am that day Grin He wasn't born till 8:30pm that night though Confused

Am hoping this labour is shorter, but not too short!!!

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 08/03/2012 15:38

no no no no no.. you're all meant to say you were two weeks late and I'll be fine to go to see Blur :o :)

Think i might have been a tad optimistic when booking them, oh well someone will have a good time..!

Hello farmerswifey waves

Erm, Needles, your waters broke in bed?!? Shock did it ruin your matress? Blush - is that a rude question to ask? sorry if it is. We're going to be buying a new bed and new matress, so I can't imaging DP being too happy if waters break all over it.... oh the glamour of pregnancy... :D

All these new things to think about, they don't show this in the movies..!!!

hamncheese · 08/03/2012 16:59

Hugs rumors

needles Interesting about the men in your family, my sister in law married a man whose family only has men and lo and behold she has 4 boys! I think she had that many in hopes of a girl...

Glad to hear your cat is okay so far after the op marmite my four are sending good cat wishes! (molly, maisie, jules and claude)

On bump size I think my actual bump is the same it's just my belly that expands over the day. Used to be like that too when I wasn't pregnant where I woke up thinking YEAH I look good and then 3 meals later before bed I'd be like WHO IS THAT PODGER?! least now I have the bump to take away from the pot belly!

Went on a bit of a spree today on account of all my clothes either not fitting or being uncomfy. My fave PJs are all too tight around the waist now very annoying as I can no longer wear my sushi pj bottoms :( Anyway got some more bras.. some nursing comfy ones but also just bought a good tshirt one in a MUCH larger size. Don't care that it will be useless after the preg due to feeding/going back to normal I'm fed up of the poor shape in the nursing ones!!

Hope you are all feeling well and thanks again for the nice compliments on the quilt

Vinolover · 08/03/2012 17:27

Good news from me Poppy... My first (ds) was 12 days late (induced) with a 5 hour labour and my 2nd (dd) was 6 days late (sweep) and labour once started properly was 4 hours long... Im hoping that means this bubba will be here on time with only a 3 hour labour!?!?!?! Yeah right.

What a lovely day :) I've actually felt really well and someone commented I was blooming :) Please God let this be it now and I can carry on feeling good!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

MrsMigginslovespies · 08/03/2012 17:53

Good to hear all your nice birth stories! I ended up being in bed for almost 3 hours and am still tired. It's ridiculous as have a lot to do at the mo.

Ham exciting about your new clothes etc. I could spend a lot of money on new things but am reining myself in big time as want to buy things for baby instead.

Have a good evening everyone. I'll be in bed by 9pm 8pm

WelshLadyCDF · 08/03/2012 18:30

Hi marmite I can't tell what's gas and what's not either!
Am sleeping really badly, waking at 4am and either watching rubbish on tv or playing scrabble on my iPad, then back for an hour and off to work.

NeedlesCuties · 08/03/2012 19:30

Poppy I remember clearly when my waters broke >looks wistfully back through the mists of time< I had woken up for my 3rd pee of the night, got back into bed and was almost drifted back to sleep. I turned over onto my side then gushhhh I woke up, poked DH awake and told him what had happened. Jumped out of bed and gusshhh another pile of water came out.

Much more fluid than I'd expected as I'd read about some women having fluid that trickled out gradually. Mine was like a waterfall!

Mattress wasn't ruined as got a waterproof mattress cover a few week previously after my cousin told me they are useful. It's actually meant for incontinent people Blush but I got it for myself in case my waters went Grin

When I jumped out of bed and had the second gush I was (luckily) standing beside our towel basket so I chucked a stack of them on the floor in the nick of time!

Looking back it was all quite funny, but at the time I was like arrggh WTF?! My lasting memory is that once the waters broke then that is when the proper pain started.

susiegrapevine · 08/03/2012 20:02

poppy my 1st baby was 10 days early. Woke up cos I thought I was wetting myself was 5.20 am ran to the loo. Went for a wee got back up and more stuff came out! Thought hold on a month I'm not wetting myself its my waters! Mattress tho it had no cover was not ruined as not that much on there and cannot notice where it happened either. Anyway ds was out at 10.06am the same morning!!! That's why I am defo having a hb this time as 2nd is mean't to be quicker! Am a little scared of how quick if I am honest.

My bump goes up and down on a daily basis too. Every night I look at it with dh and we decide if it looks bigger or smaller! No new maternity wear for me am just using my old stuff even tho I am (was) a dress size smaller than my last pregnancy they still seem to fit ok as have had to wear my work maternity trousers already.

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 08/03/2012 22:38

Thanks so much for sharing your stories ladies :) I guess I won't have much say in it anyway, so no point getting ahead of myself, will find out soon enough

Needles like the tip about the waterproof mattress cover! :o

Vino I am pleased to hear you are blooming... at last - someone is blooming.. yay! Anyone else?

hamncheese · 09/03/2012 07:50

Me! BLOOM :D

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 09/03/2012 09:17

:o @ hamncheese I'm pleased to read the blooming is happening! Thanks

hamncheese · 09/03/2012 10:42

Thanks poppy! Are you not blooming yet? Hope it comes soon if not. I love being able to brush my teeth without gagging again ha! Biscuit

hamncheese · 09/03/2012 11:16

Took a bump picture by the way... is on my profile :)

Vinolover · 09/03/2012 11:33

Lovely bump picture ham... I'm due to take one tomorrow but I don't think it's grown too much over the last couple of weeks.

I know a few of us have ordered our prams but what are you doing about the crib/cot etc? My mum was asking today about when will I be ordering it and I just don't know when to do it. I certainly don't want to do it before 20wk scan.

JParkson · 09/03/2012 12:59

Hi ladies, apologies for my quietness, had a poorly DD all week, and even now she's not back to normal. Am really struggling to get her to eat, and am quietly worried about her.

Pickle is moving, but not enough for other people to feel yet. It seems to be a morning person at the moment!

I haven't taken any bump pics, as there's too much flab around my bump I'm not very photogenic!

I'm happier than I have been though - I had a really low couple of weeks, and still not as happy as I'd like to be. Still not 'connecting' with this LO yet... I'm really worried about pre/post natal depression...

On a brighter note, I've lost some weight over the past couple of weeks (3.5lb in total) and I am quite pleased with that - again, I was worried about putting on too much during this one.

(spot the theme of this pg so far... )

Hey all! Sorry I've not been on here for a while. Been crazy busy.

I need some advice: I am going to a hen night tomorrow and I don't know what to wear! By the sounds of it the Bride and her sisters will be wearing dresses, but I was thinking skinny jeans, nice top. I can't wear heels so will have to wear flats. What do you think...buy a dress OR go with a nice top, skinny jeans (which I wear undone because of the developing bump) and see if I can get some nice pumps?

TYIA!

MrsMigginslovespies · 09/03/2012 15:24

Gosh, I'm jealous of your bumps, ladies Envy. Mine is nowhere near that bumpy, but is definitely not as fat looking as it was last week, bit more of a curve but DH is pleased with its development, bless him. Am wearing my snazzy new jeans today (a whole size bigger than normal, thus falling down a lot). Plus the band bit makes me laugh as it comes up to my ribcage! I'm going to take some photos too and put them on my profile now I know how to do it!

Frilly, if it was me, I'd go with what I felt comfy in. Jeans + top sounds nice, plus you can get some cute flats you can wear with other things too IYSWIM.

Vino, I keep obsessing about the cot/nursery thing, but also don't think I'll do much about it until 20+ weeks and DH has cleared out all his crap lovely stuff from the spare room. There is a bubble gum collection (new, not used!) from when he was 10 somewhere in a box in there, amongst other things. Has to go as drives me potty. But I do want to decide soon.

Anyhoo, must finish work, happy Friday tutti x

dragonleo · 09/03/2012 15:41

I'd also go with the jeans/pumps/pretty top frilly.
Was laughing at poppy wanting to see blur. I have tickets to see swan lake with my best friend on my due date- hope it's not born at the the royal opera house!
My major news is that I am 99% sure I have been feeling movements- especially today- seems to be swimming around like crazy because lots of bubbles! So happy :)
19 weeks today (size of a mango)- I love the fruit analogies

Westcountrylovescheese · 09/03/2012 17:35

Haha MrsMiggins, sounds just like my DH. He is a collector and storer of all things pointless! The chewing gum collection is a new one, not sure I can top that... but the day of the arrival of the original 'used in Vietnam' hospital issue pyjamas that arrived via eBay did NOT make me happy...

Think there may be movements, but also could be wind! No idea... bump or fat, no idea either...

susiegrapevine · 09/03/2012 19:15

vino I wouls not be worrying too much about the cot yet. I did not get our cot bed until about six weeks before the due date on my 1st and it was not constructed until 2 weeks before (ended up being 2 days before actual birth) tho we did have a moses basket but this was delayed because mothercare messed up my order which came a month before due date without the moses basket and just a note to say I had to speak to the store! I was not please and starting to get worried! Eventually I found out there were none in the country as it had been discomtinued the range I wanted! Did not say this on site it still said all the items were out of stock and would be back in 6 to 8 weeks! Had already bought the matching curtains cot bumper etc! Anyway ended up getting the display model for free! So did not have it that long before the birth! Sorry realise I went off into a rant there. Anyway would not stress over when you get babys bed as they will not need it until they are born.

alisonmcg · 09/03/2012 19:50

whispers so as not to jinx anything but think I might be starting to bloom too!! Been feeling very bright and cheery all day today and still seem to have a fair bit of energy which is unheard of for me at this time of day!

Vino for the cot etc we've decided the set that we want to get (the mamas and papas rialto) and not in any rush to get it but if we happen to see it on sale or with a special discount (there full set already comes discounted so doubt we'll get it any cheaper!) then we'll get it otherwise we probably won't order it until about two months from the due date but won't collect it until about 4 or 3 weeks before!

alisonmcg · 09/03/2012 19:51

Oops the whispers bit wasn't meant to be bold in the message below didn't realise I could do that!!

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 09/03/2012 22:37

I think I've added some bump pics to my profile, hope I've done it correctly.

Frilly, I'd say skinny jeans and pumps - anything that's comfy - enjoy!

JParkson glad to read you're feeling a bit better, hope it continues :)

dragonleo I think I'm feeling movements too - yay! little bubbly bits

Glad you're blooming too alison, I think I'm getting there but it's not being helped by a horrendous week at work.. of well - weekend now :o wishing you all a fab weekend.

Angel786 · 09/03/2012 23:32
