Congratulations on the 17 week mark Ham, I'm 15 on Tuesday and am looking forward to bring that bit closer to 20 weeks! What pram did you get?

I have managed a whole day without taking my anti sickness pills for the first time! I am really chuffed. Hopefully that's it done now.

Have you all had busy weekends or were you able to take it easy?

Oh I'm totally on your side, Alison! You're pregnant!! Eat what you like and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!

All that talk of unwNted advice brought back equally unwanted memories... I wrote a post about it enjoy hope you all manage to fare better than I did with dd. Already dreading baby's arrival and managing my mum, mil etc!!

hamncheese · 04/03/2012 20:28

Angel As usual it's probably some Scottish thing. Any ceremonial/momentous occasion is marked here by ridiculous tradition and often superstition. Like for the wedding all this the mother of the bride picks her colour of dress FIRST and then blah blah blah everyone's nose is out of joint ha! Apparently DH mentioned at work we were getting the pram and may just buy it outright/store in our spare room and they were all telling him he was insane for putting the pram in the house cause it was 'bad luck'. What the hell? haha!

Frilly We got silver cross 3d travel system. It had £100 off because of the colour... which was funny because ours is black, dark grey with little circles as a pattern and with a cream strip round the hood, and the one that was £100 more was basically the exact same except no strip! Congrats on the no anti sick pill day! I remember my first of those but it was around 12 weeks... your a soldier to still feel sicky now, hopefully it will melt away now :)

Righto, off for a thrilling game of yahtzee!!!!!! (i'm hard core)

alisonmcg · 04/03/2012 21:53

Thanks for the support guys! Smile glad it wasn't just me overreacting! Better get practicing my death stare for the next person who dares to say anything!!

We put the deposit down for our pram this weekend too!! Loved the oyster one, frilly, but in the end we went for the mamas and papas sola as there was an offer on at the place we got it where you got the car seat free so couldn't resist! Won't actually collect the pram until August but feels great to have chosen it!!

Anyone finding out the sex of their baby this week? Good luck if you are! Smile

susiegrapevine · 04/03/2012 22:04

Hello again feeling very spotty and fat this weekend! Also still feel very tired? Thought it was supposed to have passed by now and don't remember beung anywhere near this tired with ds. Also feel like I have a permanent cold! Sneezing all the time and have a little cough! Sorry grumbling now. Also feel like I have lots of trapped wind all the time. Not the same as last pregnancy. Also back to the leg hair theory with ds my leg hair was vey sparse so much so when I was in hospital my sis commented saying have you really still been shaving your legs lol! With the food police I have the oposite problem with my family saying oh a bit of pinkish steak won't harm and why won't you eat certain cheese etc. Had a massive row with my mum when I was pregnant last time tho they have eased off a bit this time. See you all soon

woopsidaisy · 05/03/2012 07:13

Yawn....morning all!
Anyone else still spending most of the night wide awakelistening to DH snoring?
I have been awake since about 3 I would guess...and now for another day. Sigh.
But 17 weeks so one more week ticked off!

Vinolover · 05/03/2012 07:23

Good morning :)

I'm sleeping really well whoopsi (sorry) but I'm still getting up 2 or 3 times a night for the loo! I seem to be dreaming so much too. Hope it's an easy day for you today. Happy 17 weeks :). I can't wait to get to the halfway mark! Only 2wks 5days to go :).

woopsidaisy · 05/03/2012 07:42

Vinolover I am Envy!
The loo I can handle,as ensuite on my side of the bed...barely have to open my eyes.
But just lying there for hours, and I am so sleepy, just can't sleep.
Still my other DC were all crap sleepers,so probably good to get back in the swing of zero sleep!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 05/03/2012 12:42

Hi all!

I've been sleeping fairly well, Whoopsi, but my dreams are really vivid so I wake up feeling more tired than when I went to bed!!

Well, I feel super. I am so happy and I am finally feeling good. I am loving my pregant body (even though I have a hairier tummy than normal) and I am so desperately excited about my baby! It's so nice to finally feel this way. ALSO, I read that at 15 weeks the baby can hear your voice...I cried! They can also sense changes in light now too. Ahhhhh. So cool!

I got a maternity summer maxi dress from Mothercare on Saturday and it is so gorgeous! It makes me look properly pregnant!!!

If you want to rub up against me for some happy feelings, feel free Grin

glittershoes · 05/03/2012 13:24

Hello all, having an absolutely rubbish day today and, I am ashamed to say, had to go to the loos at work for a cry. All work related - just feel really picked on and isolated in my team and tired of being blamed and seeming to get everything wrong.

Will keep going and hope tomorrow will be better!

Totally know what you mean Alison, my family aren't too much of a problem (if anything telling me to ignore all the guidelines and trying to force feed me brie, nice but they then get very cross and call me a sheep if I refuse...) but it is the random strangers that get me!

I was told off in the supermarket yesterday as I was buying some fat free vanilla and chocolate yoghurts (for DH but even if they weren't so what?!) and I was told by an older couple that it would be better for me and baby if I ate more healthily and cut out processed foods and chocolate. What annoyed me even more was they they had obviously worked out I was pregnant, in which case they could have helped me two minutes before when I struggled to lift my full basket into the stack of them in front of the checkout and tipped a tin of beans out, hitting me in the process, instead of standing there watching!

Grump over!

How exciting to hear all the news on feeling movement! I am desperate to feel the baby move (which I have decided must be a girl as DH has now gone off our only boy name!) but had nothing as yet (17 weeks tomorrow).

We had a quick look at prams over the weekend and think we will go with the Mama's and Papa's Zoom - anyone had a look at this?

Best get back to work now, also got my sign language exam tonight and need to go to our new house to measure up. It may be a long day!

tashaw28 · 05/03/2012 13:34

Hi all,
Has anyone had a previous c section and seen a consultant for another pregnancy? I have an appt next Monday and was wondering if he is going to want to look at my old scar as it is VERY low!!!
I'm 16+2 today and apart from the exhaustion I can't seem to shift, feel nothing! Completely normal!!
Went shopping today and finally bought skinny jeans from Gap, they were expensive and not in the sale, grrr, but at least they fit!

Angel786 · 05/03/2012 13:49

Hi tash sorry - this is my first c/s so we just discussed teh 1st birth (vaginal delivery with ventouse, tear etc). I would be prepared to have teh scar tissue looked at as I have heard the second c/s can take a little longer due to the first etc.

Woopsi am so with you. Tired all teh time, not sleeping properly at night.

But feeling very positive! It's going to be a good week!

The3Bears · 05/03/2012 13:59

Hi everyone,

How awful alisonmcg must be so annyoing, luckily no one has been like that with me yet, your allowed to have a can of coke Grin
Glad to hear your feeling so well frilly have to admit im feeling fab atm too and love that im now showing :)
Sorry to all those not sleeping well or feeling rubbish, im sure it will all pass soon enough and you can really enjoy being pregnant.
Im 17+2 now and still not feeling and kicks but when im in bed and lie on my back I do feel some strange feelings there so im sure thats baby moving its very odd :)
3 weeks and 1 day til my scan and I cannot wait now I have a strong feeling I know the sex but havent told anybody as I dont want to look silly Blush
Well we ordered the cot and mattress this weekend so thats one big purchase out of the way its being delivered on friday but were going to keep it stored away until we start to get everything ready :)

Hope everyone has a great day.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 05/03/2012 14:11

Oh glitter that sucks! You poor thing . How rude of those old people in the supermarket! How dare they?! Go on and eat a bar of chocolate if it makes you feel better. Silly sods.

OP posts:
Vinolover · 05/03/2012 14:22

Glitter that really is not on from that couple! How dare people think they have a right to say anything to you whether they be strangers or not! I've not had anything like that yet and God help the person that even dares! Grrr on your behalf. As for work, I kind of know how you feel. All I can say is keep your head up and remember before long you will be away from there with a little baby :)... I'm counting the weeks down already until I can leave (18wks 5days).

I've just had a really nice lunch out with a girlfriend and it's done wonders for my mood :) Only trouble is it's made me sleepy. Hey ho. I made a yummy carrot cake this morning and can't wait to collect DD from school so we can sit and have a big wedge :) Happy days!

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 05/03/2012 14:30

glitter that is rubbish about work, and ignore the supermarket people, some people really annoy me.

I seem to be sleeping well at the moment, just usual loo stops, but I'm so shattered still - where is this bloom?!? :o

I keep getting this damn headaches, too. A two-day headache is no fun, and (sorry if TMI) my head hurts worse when I go to the loo. I knwo that sounds weird, but it really pounds.. very unpleasant.!

Re Baby movement (18+2 today), I've felt like a very small poke, and also a little bubble feeling (but not wind, it's on the wrong side). Especially when I'm leaning forward and my jeans are pushing in - they aren't sensations I've felt before, could they be baby movements?

Sending everyone who needs one a hug (why is it un-mumsnetty to give hugs?), positive vibes to anyone who wants them and a Brew and Biscuit to anyone else.

:)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 05/03/2012 14:32

Poppy, sounds just like baby movements from what I've heard! I know I'm early but I'm sure I've felt the same thing!

OP posts:
Vinolover · 05/03/2012 14:34

I'm getting headaches too Poppy :( I have them for about two or three days in a row (inclu night) and they really pound. It hurts to lift my head off the pillow and when I lay back down again, it literally pounds into my eyes :(
It certainly sounds like you're feeling the movements :) I get little pokes and sometimes it's like i'm being tickled from the inside. It's so sweet.

Lovemarmite · 05/03/2012 14:41

Hi everyone,
Great to hear the baby moving reports and about the bumps!

My DH stared at me on Saturday and said, nope you're definitely unable to hide it now as I'd just put on a dress that I thought skimmed it perfectly. We went to look at maternity clothes and I'm partly determined to get a few things that i'm able to wear now and afterwards that are not maternity, so I tried on a gorgeous tunic and sulked that I might not get away with it for too long, and my DH suggested I just buy it anyway and at least get a few weeks out of it and then buy more later, okay, officially in love with him even more now! First dress tried on, and then didn't bother shopping afterwards, much to DH's relief.

Ahhh glitter sorry to hear about your work and also the couple in the supermarket - I don't think I could have kept my cool if someone said something to me about anything I eat... tssk! I've just had a chocolate chip cookie and a few of those yummy smarties mini eggs!

alison hope you enjoy another can of coke - cheers! I've just started to drink tea again. I figured that I come from a line of phenomenal tea drinkers, that one or two cups a day can't hurt.

For sleeping, I remember we talked a while ago about a spray from L'occitane and that helped, my mum bought me a neals yard (sorry, I keep banging on about this shop) night time roll on thingy which, maybe as a coincidence, but I've slept every night and ever since with this rolled on both of my wrists. The lady in the shop recommended it as she got through her pregnancy with it and it seems to work wonders.

17+2 today and feeling a bit achy in the belly
Happy Monday x

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 05/03/2012 14:43

I'm sorry to hear that vino, it's not fun is it? Has your MW given any advice? Mine said lack of fluids, but I've made an effort to drink much more, and I still got one over the weekend - same symptoms, really pounding and hurts :(

Thanks frilly (and Vino) Very pleased it could be baby movements, but I've no idea what they should feel like - how exciting!!

love your positive post frilly really put a :o on my mush today, especially as work is rubbish today.

MrsMigginslovespies · 05/03/2012 15:23

Hello ladies. Well, I've also had a shocker of a headache all Friday and Sat, so really sympathise Poppy and Vino. Made me feel quite sock actually, but better yesterday and today. Also had big fight with DH yesterday morning which didn't help. Friends again afterwards but was horrid. Spent yesterday schlepping over to Glasgow and back to see Dsis and her family which was nice, but quite tiring. Then today at work before meeting my new consultant this afternoon. Went well enough, but am wee bit disappointed because I thought I was a dead cert for a CS, but now he wants to write to my surgeon to get some more history. I know that's fair enough, but I really don't want a VB due to all past surgeries and scarring. Agh. Hope it works out ok, as am v nervous about it all. My blood pressure was 97/48...getting lower each time, and I was late and rushed today too!

I think I'm beginning to feel the baby move too but am not quite sure. Feels a bit like butterflies but also a bit of pressure too. Odd feeling!

Anyhoo, off to get winter tyrestaken off. The excitement never ends! x

glittershoes · 05/03/2012 15:55

Thanks everyone. The work things are ongoing, I can't wait for my ML, not only will it be amazing to be off but it will give me a chance to work out my next step as not sure I can stand it here too much longer! I was looking at new jobs but then found we were expecting so stopped.

The couple got a stare and a 'I think you'd find it better if you minded your own business.' Is was that or punch them so I feel I was quite restrained! It is like you become everyone else's property isn't it? I've had a few 'Ooh, you are looking big already' and touches of the barely there bump, not a problem at the moment but I guess will become a bit wearing!

Those headaches sound awful, I had a bit of a headache on Saturday night but sounds like nothing compared to the ones you lovely ladies have been getting!

I know what you mean about guessing the sex 3bears, I have become very sure that I am having a girl but haven't said anything else in 'real life' in case it is a boy! I don't mind looking silly in front of you lot! Anyone else have a strong feeling of what they are having?

Oh, and I agree with Poppy where the hell is the blooming?! I am still spotty and tired!

dragonleo · 05/03/2012 16:13

I'm CONVINCED i'm having a boy. Scan next monday- eek the excitement!!
Wish I could feel some movement- want to be reassured it's still growing after being ill but nothing yet...(18+3).

Cannot believe people said that to you in the supermarket glitter. So rude!
