Morning! I am glad to hear I am not the only one suffering with eczema. I have tiny patches in random places. These coupled with tiny skin tags in random places make me feel quite upset at times. I have never suffered with these ailments before! Will they go away quick once LO arrives?

As for the labour - perhaps it is worse for 2nd timers because they know what to expect..... I am a first timer! So naive...... we have done the hypnobirthing so are focusing beyond the actual labour itself and on the arrival of a gorgeous bundle of loveliness! The bit beforehand has to be got through so am doing my affirmations and relaxation practice expecting it all to go smoothly, of course if it does not i will cross that when i get there..... fingers crossed :)
littleray I hope you get your DP with you to labour with - do you have back up "just in case"?

Russki · 06/05/2012 09:15

yes, congratulations SammyB!

TMI alert, but i have terrible diarrhoea at the moment - makes me wonder if it's my body clearing out for the big day - i otherwise feel fine, and still have no idea if the baby has dropped or not, although it does feel a little easier to breathe, and heartburn is easing off, but my bump definitely doesn't look any different...

i scoffed a bit at the "nesting" thing that people talk about, but i had the most bizarre urge to clear out all the shelves the other day - and i rarely have such urges! All of this makes me wonder if the baby will arrive before the 19th - in any case, i know my conception date, which was a full week before the one they calculate, although i realise that can be out by a few days..

otherwise, my BP is fluctuating wildly from being completely normal to over 140/95, which is slightly worrying me .. but it seems to go down after listening to my hypnobirthing cds, which i don't think are actually hypnotising me, but are at least very calming. anyway, after doing tests, dr just says i should buy myself a BP monitor - which of course will make me even more of a hypochondriac than i already am..

Gosh, littleray, sounds like you're getting close to the big day indeed! and yes, i'm also pretty anxious about the whole birth (but as a first-timer) - not so much worried that it'll be too fast, but rather than it'll just be way too slow and drawn out.

Also, what are people feeling about pain relief? I have nothing against an epidural, but a couple of people have told me they were hugely relieved in retrospect that they couldn't have one (dilated too fast etc) because their actual pushing stage ended up being really quick, but would probably have been much slower with the epidural. Would be interested to hear experiences from 2+ timers..

anyway, sorry for overly long post...

alwaysanauntie · 06/05/2012 12:44

congratulations Sammyb! I was wondering why our newbies disappeared as fast as they arrived, maybe just too busy with newborns like you!

littleray you don't have it easy do you?! I hope you're feeling better & get plenty of warning before dc2 decides to arrive xx

sircharles I've been reading that thread as well, some interesting points in there, I've also been trying to read them out to DH, if only to lower his expectations a bit :o

russki I'm keep telling myself it will all be fine in the end, and if I want an epidural I'll have to transfer from home to hospital, so am hoping I can manage pain with nice warm bath, aromatherapy, g&a and pethidine if required. Also if my weedy sister can manage 3 births with nothing, surely I can cope if I have the above drugs to hand :)

Finally got round to grouting 2 walls & the floor of our ensuite this morning, I'm now regretting it as spending all that time on my hands & knees has stretched either the muscles or ligaments at the side of my bump, so am in the bath (again!) to try and ease the pain, may just have to sign myself off domestic duties for the rest of the day :o

hippieshake · 06/05/2012 15:24

Russki I've had the same bottom troubles as you for about 2 months now. My MW thinks I might have IBS or something and it's being irritated by the baby. I'll be glad when it's over!!

I've been having period pains for the past day or two now, on and off, could this just be everything stretching?

Started my maternity leave yesterday, so I am now trying to think of ways to fill my spare time... the dogs are getting walked a lot!

Littleray I hope you feel better and that you are resting as much as you can :)

Saltytomato · 06/05/2012 16:15

Hi ladies, for some reason I can't log in as normal so I had I change my username. It was alextasha! So don't get too confused.... Hahaha

russki my blood pressure has been really high too, my midwife sent me to the hospital last week and they hooked me up to a monitor and did some blood tests, but it isn't affecting me or the baby so just have to keep monitoring it. I have a BP monitor at home to check it 3 times a day.

It was quite funny cos I didn't think I was getting Braxton hicks, but when they hooked me to the monitor I was getting then regularly every 5 mins or so! I thought it was just the baby stretching out all the time. Midwife also said I was 3/5ths engaged so that's good. I hope he comes out soon before I turn into the human stretch mark.... I have none on my tummy, but all over the tops of my legs :( but I haven't had any other negative side effects so I guess I should be thankful. Do stretch marks fade or go away at all?

sircharles I think you mentioned the epi-no? I have got one. My midwife recommended it. I am 37 weeks tomorrow so am going to start using it. Anything to prevent a tear! Also the fact it does pelvic floor excersises afterwards too....

littleray sorry you are feeling unwell. Glad that the baby is ok though and your iron levels and other tests came back ok.

I am so ready to have this baby now, was terrified I was going to get induced last week cos of my blood pressure. They have told me I probably won't be able to have a water birth like I wanted cos of the risk of increased bleeding from high blood pressure, but oh well. I'll just take it as it comes.

katykuns did you set up a Facebook group?

Hope you are all well x

SammyB1985 · 06/05/2012 17:14

SirCharles thanks for that link, it's so true! Jack is 11 days old now and I've found a lot of these out for myself - especially waking in the middle of the night panicking that i've fallen asleep feeding Jack and that he's under the covers! I jump up and thow them all back just to find it's my bloody body pillow and that Jack is safe and sound in his moses basket - no one ever told me to expect that so i'm glad it's not just me! :)

PreciousPuddleduck · 06/05/2012 21:00

Russki - I had diarrhoea earlier this week & still no sign of baby.

Congratulations SammyB, I'm glad everything went well.

I have started cleaning (which is unusual) so I wonder if I might not have to wait too long. Baby is due on Tuesday.

Ps how do I put people's names in bold, I'm fairly new to MN x

SammyB1985 · 06/05/2012 22:02

PreciousPuddleduck thanks hun! If you look just under the message box it tells you how to put something in bold/italic etc - to make something bold put * before and after it without spaces. Hope that helps :)

katykuns · 07/05/2012 12:02

Saltytomato - I completely forgot! Here I have made a group on Facebook, you have to click for an invite (figured we wouldn't want it completely public)

www.facebook.com/groups/447423995271443/

Hope everyone is okay. I shall try to write on the other May thread, but it feels kinda weird now I have got used to everyone on here lol. Will post the linky on there as well

I am really nervous about the birth, I am nervous about getting there, my Mum/sister being there for my daughter in time... the pain... :S just about everything. I was definitely more chilled out the first time not knowing what to expect.
(Serious TMI) but wondering if labour is on the cards soon, as have had the most disgusting snot-like discharge, and lots of it since last night... as well as my boobs leaking a bit. I didn't have this first time round, so not sure whether its a sign, or it's nothing and this birth is just different lol. Pelvic/back pain is worse and generally feeling a bit more uncomfortable :/
But I have to admit.. I am so anxious!
Anyone else had the snot-like discharge and leaky boobs? I have had discharge all the way through, but its been quite clear and not large amounts...

Anyways, I hope none of you are eating your lunch as you read this lol.. hope I haven't put you off lol.

SammyB1985 · 07/05/2012 12:09

Katykuns did the discharge have any bits of blood in it? I didn't get my show until an hour before Jack got here and it was the hugest glob of goo - it was so gross! lol! So if there are streaks of blood in it then it could be your show! Good luck!

And thanks for setting up the facebook group, i'll join it now :)

katykuns · 07/05/2012 12:15

Hiya Sammy... didn't have blood... was slightly yellowy colour. I remember the show I had vaguely with my first daughter.. which was exactly as you described lol, and happened right at the beginning of labour.
I read up a bit about 'shows' last night, and realised the show can happen ages before labour starts... not helpful when you are trying to figure out how far off labour is lol

SammyB1985 · 07/05/2012 12:29

lol yeah our bodies do like to keep us guessing don't they?! :)

hippieshake · 07/05/2012 13:54

I've requested to join the facebook group :)

Littleray How are you feeling?

Still getting period pains, they aren't really coming and going though, just more there in the background. My back is quite sore today too. Is anyone else having this? x

katykuns · 07/05/2012 15:46

hippieshake.. yeah, I have quite mild pain that could be described as period pains... very random as well - no pattern to them.. along with sore back and pelvis.

Have accepted 3 more people into the group, 2 of which were a little while ago - sorry! was in the bath lol

Wommer · 07/05/2012 16:45

www.justmommies.com/quizzes/labor_prediction_quiz.php

Have you seen this? Apparently it will predict labour...Hmm could be worth a giggle tho.

My prediction was 1-2 weeks early and 8.3 lbs.... That means any day now!
xx

alwaysanauntie · 07/05/2012 17:24

Wommer quiz says I'll be late :( but on the plus side only a 7.3 lb baby :) so will have to wait & see how accurate it is :o

katy sounds like a show to me (if there's lots) and I don't think they're always bloody, plus from reading other threads there can be a lot of mucus to come out & not necessarily straight before labour - nice!

Have had a bit of a sore lower back today, and sides of bump are less painful which is better, but I now think I'll go over my dates as Lo seems to have popped back up & disengaged... Will start taking dog for extra long walks up & down hills! :o also have some progress on the bathroom, toilet plumbed in & working plus a bit more tiling done. DH cleared the heavy stuff from our room so I can empty it to remove manky old carpet, paint skirting ready for dm coming to wallpaper thurs/fri and am hoping I can book carpet fitter in for weekend or early next week (when I'll be 40 weeks - eek!)

Now, will someone hurry up and have a baby soon, we're already a week into May!

Littlerayofsunshine · 07/05/2012 20:37

Hippie I'm feeling better since the tummy bug has gone thanks.

I am getting very strong tightenings but not labour yet. Baby's movements are very very strong - I can literally feel everything its doing in there. hands searching, head pushing down, and I keep getting this odd pain in the top of my right thigh? never had this with DD.

I have been getting more discharge on & off too. I remember this with DD, but I went overdue with her :s

Got the midwife Wednesday so wonder if there are any changes.

I just feel in limbo. what my body is doing now is what it did like 4days before i had DD. but I just keep thinking. yeah right it could still be ages. DP thinks tomorrow on my birthday! lol

Katykuns I am feeling anxious too now. Just about if DD will be ok.. she's never spent the night away from me. only a few hours.

I know when it starts im going to think "OH YES- THAT PAIN, THAT INTENSITY!" ahh! lol

no really, i'm just concerned about the timing obviously for DP's sake. My established labour with DD was 2hrs. :/ and just if i'll be able to do it naturally again???

Littlerayofsunshine · 07/05/2012 20:51

Oh and..........

Bastard stretch marks have appeared since the days I was poorly and my tummy ballooned where my bowel was irriating it. :(

I had like minimal ones with DD (they came the week she was overdue) faded away withing months.

This one, I am completely gutted. I have like 5 pink ones underneath my belly button now. SO ANNOYED!! its always towards the end!! Angry

DP said they're hardly anything and will fade again. which they probably will, but i dont want them to go wrinkly.

and whats upsetting me this time, is that they are sore. pink.. not necessarily itchy. just sore where baby is SO out front, and always moving its like my tummy hasnt had a break.

I am proud of them from DD, and will be after this one. but its just at this atage, they dont look or feel nice :( :( 23yrs old tomorrow and i'll have a body all wrinkly :( boohoo

sorry rant over!

hippieshake · 07/05/2012 21:35

Awh Littleray I'm sure that you still look beautiful, and as you say... they are something to be proud of. Keep them moisturised :)

Have you got any plans for you birthday? x

Littlerayofsunshine · 07/05/2012 21:54

No plans as such, taking it easy (maybe go into labour haha) friends might pop in. :) x

alwaysanauntie · 07/05/2012 22:07

littleray so with you on the stretch marks - caught sight of my tummy button in the mirror after my bath and the number has tripled this week :( plus it's really sore for a few inches around it - like a bruise when I touch it, not fair! Glad you're feeling better, hope you have a relaxed birthday and manage to keep baby in there a little longer even if it's wriggling away in there :o xx

katy have sent a request for the FB group (just to let you know - no rush/panic to add me!).

Bed time now...

SirCharles · 08/05/2012 06:35

Happy birthday littleray!

Cewafwb · 08/05/2012 07:00

Happy Birthday Littleray. I hope you have a really happy day and don't have a baby today - not an ideal way to spend it - it agony. So pleased you are feeling better. Please tell me you have someone who is going to help you out when you have this baby? Mother? Mother in law so to speak? Who's going to look after dd1 when you are in hospital?! You will need help of some sort! xx

Wommer · 08/05/2012 07:50

Happy Birthday littleray!! Smile xx
