Just had a BFP and wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the rollercoaster ride over the next few months

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lissbug · 04/02/2012 12:40

Yes it is my first and I am 41! DH is 7 years younger :). Am v nervous because of my age but am reassured by a friend who conceived at 42.5 completely naturally.
Am feeling very tired so plan to take it very easy this weekend. DH has been running around after me. Hope that continues!

missbone · 04/02/2012 13:44

Thanks, Cheeky. Wow! Those are erratic cycles! Imagine not having been charting...doesn't bear thinking about. How old are you, if you please?

Lissbug, i'm not far behind you - am 41 in August. Being on the 'Feisty, Fabulous 40-Somethings TTC' thread for the last month or so was quite scary reading at times; hearing lots of the ladies celebrating BFPs and later returning to share their grief over MCs. So very sad. I can't relax about the doom-laden statistics for women of our age. Sorry to sound pessimistic...i promise not to continue in this vein on this celebratory thread.

Sumsey · 04/02/2012 14:04

hellooooo ladies.....

i had my BFP on thursday and im still in a state of wow!!!....
i have no idea how far i am (as i ve been off depo jab for well over a year...period returned last october and really really light one beginning of jan) soooooooo

either 28th sep - 14th october??

this is my third and im more nervous now that the last two times (now nearly seven and nearly 5)....we had obviously been trying for a while but now its happended im in total shock.....

have massive fears of loosing baby.. and random thoughts of maybe the tests were wrong"...ive got first appointment on tuesday and midwife has informed me that a scan will be arranged....

oooeerrrrr nervessssssss :P

missbone · 04/02/2012 14:14

Congratulations, Sumsey! Grin May I ask how old you are (you'll know from my previous posts to others that i am a little obsessed with everyone's ages on here as i'm 40.5 yrs and this is my first baby)? I, too, am so very anxious about miscarriage statistics (for the over 40s). Can i ask how you've managed to get a booking-in appointment with the midwife so soon? My appointment is 9th. March, by which time i will be 9 wks and 4 days! Also, she's already told me i'll only be scanned at 12 wks like anybody else, despite my age [worried]

Cheekychops29 · 04/02/2012 14:23

Well missbonelissbug, I think you could definitely read yourself into believing the worst at whatever age you are tbh, I'm 29 will be 30 when babe is born and even at my age I worry about blowing my nose too hard ... Just in case! Hehe!! I believe if your fit and well and you take care of yourself and the little bean your doing a good job so far x

Sumsey · 04/02/2012 14:27

helloooooo Missbone

hahaha now worries about the age...im 31 (soon)

i live in north wales and with my previous pregnancies i got the first appoinment very quickly. as for the scans they are sticklers for the twelve week rule but i explained to the midwife i spoke to about being on the depo (for over a year, then being off for over a year...having one "normal" period and one very very light)

i think they wanted to get me in to confirm how far i am more than anything....hense the early appointment.

i can fully understand your concerns about this being your first baby and being a fabby forty...but will try to put you at rest...i wrok for probation and a lot of the women have had children later on....and all of them have had relatively painfree pregnancies, delivers and babies.....apart from your typical heart burn, sore feet and wind!!

my best friend has had her first at december and she is 46! :)

i hope this helps xx x x x x x xx x

nasara · 04/02/2012 14:31

Cheekychops29 snap on the long cycle and probably having a scan at 10 weeks because of that too! I had been using OPKs so I know I ovulated/conceived around 13th Jan.

Still having pink spotting - it's been a week now - it's only light, and not red, and I'm not in pain, so not panicking, although I wish it would stop.

Sumsey · 04/02/2012 14:47

nasara lets hope we have scans sooner rather than later... :O

as for the spotting...i wouldnt worry hon x x x x it is normal i had some 3 weeks ago for nearly 6 days xxx

Thanks for your encouragement Cheeky (and your age - although i should've guessed from your moniker - Doh!)

And thanks to you, too, Sumsey. I really should take encouragement from the mother and ex-partner of my DP Michael. She got pregnant naturally and gave birth to her first child at 45. And she smoked all the way through (groan!)

missbone · 04/02/2012 15:20

last post should read: 'the mother of my DP's son from a previous relationship'!*

Bubblebell1 · 04/02/2012 15:40

I'm due 8 oct and I'm 29, 30 next month!

Got a terrible headache today and dizzy, it's freezing and just waiting to be snowed in.

Chilled lazy DVD day with dp and ds Grin

Angelico · 04/02/2012 16:53

I'm 34, will be 35 when bean arrives. I can understand why people get nervous but to be honest most of the peeps I know who've had diffs / miscarriages have been younger than me. I also know at least 4 women who had their first children at 40+ - 2 ended up with twins! :-) They were all natural pregnancies.

I am sooooooooo bloated today. Starting to obsess over twins as I'm exploding out of my jeans...

HeeHeeHeeBum · 04/02/2012 17:05

Wow, the list is huge now! I am 30 and this will DC1.

Angelico I have been really bloated and you have got me obsessing about twins now :)

BabyDustPlease · 04/02/2012 17:43

Hi missbone I'm due on 7th October according to my EDD.

Hope everyone is doing well, I have felt very sick today! Went to the hairdressers this morning and was convinced I would be sick on their shoes, thankfully I wasn't!!

I have known for over a week now and I'm having some symptoms but I still can't quite get my head round it, still having to test to make sure I'm still pregnant! Anyone else feel like this? Very scared of loosing it I think. I have never lost a baby but close friends have so I have been around it all.

madaboutmadmen · 04/02/2012 18:11

Hi can I join? Due Oct 4th subject to dating scan but was nearly 2 weeks overdue with Ds so will probably be later. Crossing fingers this one is a sticker, lost the last two Sad.

Anyway, hopefully I'll still be here chatting come March!

Lissbug · 04/02/2012 18:14

Missbone I am due on the 8th. Same as you!

campbelly · 04/02/2012 18:46

Good effort missbone
I'm 30, and fingers crossed I'll have a firstborn. Although DH really wants twins, so if he's able to predict the future it'll be no 1 & 2..

Cheekychops29 · 04/02/2012 18:51

Has anyone had swollen glands? I've not really put the one under my left arm or the one in my neck down to being pregnant but the right armpit is tender now?!

Littlepurpleprincess · 04/02/2012 18:52

oo good list. The mumsnet calculator says I'm due on the 18th october, but I'm not quite sure because I've never had a natural, regular cycle.

I am 23 years old incase you wanted to know that too...

Got some nice stem ginger shortbread in Asda today.

Littlepurpleprincess · 04/02/2012 18:52

...and it's my second baby.
