Just had a BFP and wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the rollercoaster ride over the next few months

Hi everyone, I went to the docs today, she gave me an EDD of 7th October so thats 2 days after the online calculators. She weighed me and told me to book in for my first appointment with the midwife in 2 weeks.

I'm feeling quite anxious, I'm on my 4th test since finding out. Have slight symptoms (boobs hurt a bit, cant sleep very well, emotional) but nothing mind blowing. Wondering if I should be feeling more but then again I am on 4 weeks 3 days!

Congratulations for everyones positives!!! And hope everyones feeling not too bad today.

xxx

Bubblebell1 · 31/01/2012 18:13

Thanks angelic. I have looked back. What a twit Blush

Still not sure what to say to her but will def do it face to face.

I too went to the dr today. (changed app coz had mad panic about cervix being open like a ring doughnut) Blush Gave me edd of 6 oct but I have a 30 day cycle so it's more likely the 8th.
I have my first scan in 2 weeks and have been referred to midwife so I can see consultant to check my cervix.

Fed up of feeling cack. Looking forward to the pregnancy bloom! Lol Wink

Angelico · 31/01/2012 19:29

I have my midwife appt tomorrow week, which seems v early to me tbh but at our surgery they just book you straight in with midwife and cut out the GP altogether. Haven't even told work yet about needing time off out of superstition or something. Just going to say it's a hospital appt.

TheGrandOldDuke · 31/01/2012 19:31

My main thing is I cant sleep. Is that even anything to do with it?? Ironic, as I'm shattered...

BabyDustPlease · 31/01/2012 19:58

My 'booking in appointment' seems to be with the doctor in 2 weeks and I was expecting it to be with the midwife. They didn't test me either which I found a bit odd, I'm finding it hard enough to accept that I am actually pregnant!!

Angelico · 31/01/2012 20:03

GrandOldDuke I've been waking up early which is apparently very common - don't know about not sleeping at all...

Littlepurpleprincess · 31/01/2012 20:09

Hello! I got a positive test about 5 hours ago Grin. I'm going to test again tomorrow to make sure. If I am, can I join your thread please?!

I've only been trying since christmas and I've got no symptoms other than being late so I don't quite believe I can be pregnant.

BabiesNeedInstructions · 31/01/2012 21:10

Well, I went to the gp today and what a waste of time that was. I spent an hour in the waiting room trying to stop DS putting all the dirty measles-infected toys in his mouth, and then had a 3 minute appointment which involved signing a maternity exemption form and trying to stop DS eating the contents of the doctor's tissue box. Sigh, it was all a bit more romantic first time round!

Feeling quite tired today but still no real symptoms. Just to reassure those feeling worried that they're feeling too normal, it takes a while for the hormones to kick in so don't worry, you will feel different soon. I panicked massively last time round but soon wished I had just enjoyed the good health. I reckon months 2-4 are the hardest in terms of feeling ill and tired - obviously the last month too, but then you're usually off work so it's not as hard.

I watched the second half of Birdsong today too, not sure if anyone else saw it but it had me in floods which is a surefire sign of hormonal instability. Bit of a bad look when the boiler engineer arrived 2 minutes later!

Angelico · 31/01/2012 21:51

Hey purpleprincess welcome aboard! We were the same - started trying just before Christmas and - kazam! I thought it was going to take ages to get pregnant, thanks to media horror stories about being mid-thirties, on the plump side, slightly older hubby etc etc.

BabiesNeedInstructions I'm trying to think that way too (enjoy symptom free-ness). I did have some real nausea in work today which was rotten (I'm only 4 +4!!!) and gave me a pang of terror for what lies ahead...! Still getting cramps too. I hate that feeling of running to the loo to check for blood... :(

MalibuStacy · 01/02/2012 06:24

Hey, can I join you? I am pregnant after our third round of IVF. I am due on 8th October. Am I bit worried as I don't have any symptoms yet.

milk · 01/02/2012 08:27

MalibuStacy, I am the same as you. Although 2bh I bet I'm going to worry for the next 9 months. I am having a scan today to put my mind at rest. Barnet Hospital has been so nice to me even though I'm sure they know I'm insane :(

mrsv2 · 01/02/2012 08:43

Morning all and welcome to everyone i havent said hello to. Congrats on the BFPs........no real symptoms here. Slight cramping, light restless sleep and knackered by 9pm but as others have said.....the BFP is enough you dont need symptoms. I had NO ms last time, and when i was reading the other mners who were suffering badly it really is a blessing. Dont wish it on yourselves.....

Morning! We're off on holiday today, and freaking about the flying. I've had to come off my antidepressants whilst ttc, and they would normally keep my panic in check. Also worrying about the acceleration during take off etc being bad for the not-quite-a-foetus-yet?? Think I'm being paranoid??

MalibuStacy · 01/02/2012 09:41

TheGrandOldDuke, I did a 16 hour flight after my IVF, and I hate flying, so I asked my Embryologist if I could have a small glass of wine to calm my nerves before I got on the plane. He said that was OK.

HeeHeeHeeBum · 01/02/2012 10:45

Morning! I feel much much better today. I had a day off sick yesterday as I felt really ill in the morning but I had a good long chat (and cry) with my mum and today I feel a lot happier and not sick at all :) mrsv2 glad to hear you had no sickness last time - it gives me hope!

Beans1977 · 01/02/2012 11:24

Morning everyone! I am having a tough day today - not been too nauseous so far but suddenly today it's really bad and I've even been dry retching (ugh!). Am sitting at my desk at work trying to act like everything is ok but my insides are whirling. At least I can sit down and hide behind my PC - what do people do who have physical jobs/teachers etc?! Hope it passes soon!

campbelly · 01/02/2012 11:36

beans I am a teacher, and it's crap! I've had such problems with wind, and it's given me a really sore belly, but I have to act normal! Bounce around dealing with mad teenagers! I predict lots more of me sitting at my desk asking them to come to me with problems, rather than me going to them. Which is not Ofsted recommended best practice Wink

(Either that or stand next to child who's been annoying, fart silently then run away - guess who gets the blame?)

Beans1977 · 01/02/2012 11:43

Ha ha campbelly, I like your style! I have been so windy too! I work in an open plan office so I have to keep running to the toilet. Am sure my colleagues are getting a bit suss...! Be a lot easier hopefully if I get to second trimester safely and can share news with people. I think you sitting at your desk is definitely a good plan for now!

Angelico · 01/02/2012 16:28

Ha ha Campbelly I am also a teacher of teenagers. On Monday one of my form class let rip with a real stinker - a true silent but deadly one - he's a marked man. When I feel a bad one coming on I'll be drifting towards his side of the room...

I am a bit worried about what to do if get really sick. So far just a couple of days with nausea (none today thankfully) and was able to go out for some air but there are some classes you really daren't leave for even a minute...

Has anyone else been boilingly hot in bed at night? Or rather when you wake up in the morning? I think it's something to do with elevated hormones, just the way you get a bit warmer before your period. I woke up at half five this morning drowing in my own sweat. I woke up before that at half-three after a bizarre "Hills have Eyes" type dream, no doubt induced by hot flushes... It's all very irritating as I usually sleep like the proverbial log.

BabyDustPlease · 01/02/2012 16:59

Hi everyone! Thanks for reassuring words about being symptomless, makes me feel better :)

Hope everyones okay today, one more day done :D

xx

meales · 01/02/2012 17:05

BabyDustPlease · 01/02/2012 17:23

Congratulations Marie!!!

PopcornMouse · 01/02/2012 17:29

Hello again everyone!

Very jealous of all of the people off to the GP today - I couldn't get in until 10th Feb! Shock

No symptoms here - I have a bit more energy than usual but that could just be happiness?? :o I do have the worst wind though Shock Blush

Meales I'm about 30 mins from you, I don't want to say where as I've been on MN a while and don't want to "out" myself irl Wink

Angelico · 01/02/2012 18:26

Don't worry Popcorn - I'm not going to Midwife until 8th although tbh she will prob find it a bit odd - I'll only be 5 +5 - not even 6 weeks. Still, the GP receptionists booked me in. Just keep praying everything will be okay - it all feels so unreal still and am sick of horror stories - so many family and friends have had miscarriages in the last year. It's hard to believe anyone ever has a normal, healthy pregnancy!

BabyDustPlease · 01/02/2012 19:14

Angelico I know what you mean. Mine doesn't seem real. Have also had a lot of friends and family who have had miscarriages, it all becomes very frightening, doesn't it? Fingers crossed for everyone on here xx
