Just had a BFP and wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the rollercoaster ride over the next few months

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheGrandOldDuke · 13/02/2012 13:33

Just got all my mat bits out the loft and dug out the bras. Being a 34b pancake girl, it's incredible to believe it wore, and filled the 36EE that I just got out. I can put my head in the cup. Freaky.

GemmyMummy · 13/02/2012 13:46

Is anyone else feeling like a bubbling wreck!! I keep crying at absolutely anything!! A little boy came to the door yesterday asking to be sponsored for a charity walk he's doing and I just about burst into tears as I told him what a lovely gesture it was!!

DH can't do anything right as I keep telling him he is being "highly irritating"!! The poor soul is lying low and just keeps smiling at me!! Hopefully this will pass!!

Angelico · 13/02/2012 13:47

Just got the letter about ultrasound date and pretty pissed off tbh! I have to wait until the start of April when I'll be 13.5 weeks! They say they will do it between 10 and 14 but because I had my booking appt so early I thought they might bring me in sooner :( After what just happened to SIL - having 14 week scan and no heartbeat after everything had been fine - I would have liked some confirmation of heartbeat etc sooner. Angry

Angelico · 13/02/2012 13:48

Lol GemmyMummy I haven't been too badly afflicted so far but you have my sympathy :)

TheGrandOldDuke · 13/02/2012 13:49

Do you not have another midwife appt before the scan Angelico? If so, would they be able to use the heart monitor thingy to listen in? That would reassure you? X

missbone · 13/02/2012 14:08

Angelico, my booking-in appointment is only 9th March when I will be 9+4! I've been told by lots of women on the over-40s TTC thread that we will not get earlier scans just for 'reassurance' - unless we start to bleed.

bubble, I'm thinking of you....your scan was at 12pm...how did it go? xx

nasara · 13/02/2012 14:13

Back from scan and we saw our teeny beanie and a flickering little heartbeat, so really relieved for now! There is a small bleed near the sac, so having another scan on the 24th to keep an eye on it.

Welcome to all the new girls!

Angelico · 13/02/2012 14:19

nasara that's great news that the bean is thriving!

Thanks for messages - have calmed down a bit having talked to mum. Tbh it's my first and I was kindof forgetting that it's perfectly normal to have to wait that long because my sister and SIL both had early scans - but that was because of bleeds. Am idiot and must be patient chewsnails. I just want to see the bean is there.

Have found a private place fairly locally where I can get an early US for £99 any time after 7 weeks so if I get a completely desperate craving I might cave in and go for that! :o I know it doesn't guarantee anything but I would at least like a pic of the blueberry (or large raspberry as it will be by then lol). x

Bubblebell1 · 13/02/2012 14:23

I had scan and all is well too. Saw little bean and a flickering heartbeat. I'm 6+2 so edd is 6 oct Grin

Bubble well and truely burst tho when I got home found out my sister has been saying horrible things about my dc and this pregnancy. Angry

Angelico · 13/02/2012 14:34

That's great about scan Bubblebell - you're one day after my DD so hopefully the Angelico bean has a little flickering heartbeat too :o x

By dc is that darling child? Don't let anybody bring you down! x

mathsy · 13/02/2012 14:34

Good news on the scans bubblebell and nasara! Now I want a scan Envy.

TheGrandOldDuke · 13/02/2012 14:36

Great news on the scans :-)

Bubblebell1 · 13/02/2012 14:45

Angelico urs will Grin it's so exciting Grin

Yeah dc dear children Sad

TheGrandOldDuke · 13/02/2012 14:46

Why are they being nasty?? What's there to be nasty about?? How mean.

Bubblebell1 · 13/02/2012 14:58

My mum was looking after dc while I went for scan when I picked up the kids ds1 said that auntie had been mean about me. And that nana had told her to shut up. I asked what she had said and he said that she had said to my mum why is bubble having more kids she is so selfish my kids are going to suffer financially and then proceeded to say to ds 1 no more Nike trainers for u only hi tec,
I phoned my mum and said why was this being discussed infront of my kids she said she told her to leave it but she was just ranting to herself.
So I call my sister and ask why she is being like this and I got nothing but personal insults and more nasty comments about being pg and my dc.

Sad
Angelico · 13/02/2012 15:03

That's a bit mad Bubblebell. Why is she saying that stuff? Is there a history between you? Do you think she is genuinely concerned about you and just really crap at showing it?!

Bubblebell1 · 13/02/2012 15:09

Nope we r normally close she is ds1 god mother!!

I said if ur concerned do u think that's how u should have approached it. My do has a great job and I'm self employed. My kids are very happy and have nice things. I'm Hmm and Confused it's not normal.

She even made comments about ds2 party. Saying it was "gippo" because we used an inside play area!

elvislives2012 · 13/02/2012 15:09

Weeeee congrats on the scan results! Very jealous! Got weeks til I can have one dammit. Did another test just to be sure...

Zoeplankton · 13/02/2012 15:16

Wow, bubble. That's bewildering.

I hope you find out what made your sister behave so weirdly. But then again, you might not. Sometimes people just have these brain-farts - this was probably just one of those.

(context: I married into a family where, shall we say, I have had ample opportunity to practice my forgiveness skills. It's often brain-farts, only occasionally active malice.) (haven't actually nailed forgiveness yet, tbh. Still practicing.)

TheGrandOldDuke · 13/02/2012 15:51

Wow that's all a bit weird bubble hugs!!!

litlan · 13/02/2012 16:15

oh bubble, thats so sad, everyone shud be really happy for you! and to be honest, if their not i dont think its anyones elses god damn buisness! how mean!
does your sister have children? kud she be trying and not able to fall? not defending her, but sometimes we dont know the bigger picture sending hugs tho!

lisbethsopposite · 13/02/2012 17:12

I get to post at last - I've been reading this thread for days!! and trying to reply. First my battery went dead, than sick hubby and and DS kept me too busy to write.
BFP with number 2!! DS1 is 18months and both are IVF - God bless science.

Milk - you have not posted in ages. Are you due a scan this week? Are you OK?

I am due October 5th so 6 weeks and 3 days today, I think. I had my first scan this morning - saw the heartbeat so it was very exciting.

Prams - I used the Jane Slalom model, first time round. It was very comfortable for baby but big in the car and I couldn't imagine it on a bus. I have not used it in ages. I now use a stroller bought in Lidl. I loved the Jane for long walks with baby while I was on mat leave, he slept the whole time, in comfort. The last time I put him in there he looked around in surprise at the comfort level. It is quite the armchair compared to the stroller. The whole Jane kit new, is the bones of ?700, with the isofix and all.
I have heard negative feedback on the Phil & Teds. Apparently for a single baby it is quite light and the wind can almost lift it.

I got my mat bras in Tesco first time round. Usually I wear underwired and as I'm a DD i buy good bras, so I hand wash them. It's brill to just throw them in the washing machine.

elvislives2012 · 13/02/2012 17:13

bubble sounds really upsetting for you. Just try not to let them get to you. Pregnancy brings out weird emotions in people and people react in different ways. Just stay positive and remember that it is their issue and not yours. You've got a little bean to be excited about! Sod 'em! X

BTW all those trying to stop smoking; I smoked for 15 years and tried lots to give up. About 8 months ago I got hypnotised and not smoked since. Even when drunk and partner smokes too. Really recommend it xx

elvislives2012 · 13/02/2012 17:16

I can't even think about bras and strollers! I think I'll be ok after the first scan. What book do u all recommend? Wad going to get 'what to expect....' but read it can be quite patronizing...
