Lissbug I'm so sorry.

Sumsey sending you positive thoughts.

Hope everyones ok today. I booked in for my early/viability scan for 25th feb so fingers crossed for them. Just so tired....can't really form sentences so I'll go lol.

Hope you all have a peaceful evening xx

Caroline2103 · 07/02/2012 17:55

Hi all. I got my bfp at the weekend and I'm due on the 7th october!! I am so so happy:-) like beans had mmc in september at 12 weeks so although this is my second pregnancy I feel completely different and if im completely honest I'm absolutely terrified!! I've got the metallic taste (almost like blood?) Taste in my mouth, and a lot of nausea but today I've been having stomach aches. Almost like I'm going to get a stomach bug if that makes sense? Is that normal? Xx

missbone · 07/02/2012 18:00

Sumsey, i'm praying very hard that this is a nothing-to-worry-about-bleed (i even prayed for you during War Horse this afternoon when it showed a horse giving birth!)

YompingJo, i was at the dentist last Thursday for a filling and the dentist refused to do it when i told him i was pregnant. He said that, because it involved extracting my previous filling, he didn't want to risk the amalgam/mercury harming the baby (ditto for the x-ray that was required). He also said that all preggo women should be rinsing carefully with mouthwash to ready our gums for the third trimester when bleeding gums/disease is very common.

Bee (and everyone else this applies to), howon earth are you getting a scan at 8/9 wks?? My booking-in appointment is only the 9th. March when i will be 9+4!! And i'm over 40!
Oh, and, Bee...don't leave us for your Oxfordshire clan!!

Psammead, congratulations and welcome! Here's hoping for a safe and healthy pregnancy.

War Horse was a truly lovely film and it was lovely for me and DP to get out in the fresh air (although the roads and pathways are horribly treacherous here in East Lancashire, up in the backwoods!)

Zoeplankton · 07/02/2012 18:02

Hang in there, Sumsey! This sounds like a good time to stay home with a box set... or five...

It'll be Friday before you know it.

bee1983 and yompingjo, I expect the dentist will know what they can and can't do. There's some info from the NHS here: www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/are-pregnant-women-entitled-to-free-nhs-dental-treatment.aspx

missbone · 07/02/2012 18:07

Elpis! Have you bloody-well tested yet???!! x

Frescolita · 07/02/2012 18:17

Welcome and congratulations Caroline2103.

Lissbug I'm so sorry. Hugs and prayers.

missbone my doctor today offered me a scan as of 7 weeks. I'm going in 3 weeks, which will be roughly week 8. I live in Germany though, so I guess the system here is different.

The doctor thinks i'm due on October 7th or thereabouts. All very exciting.

BabyDustPlease · 07/02/2012 18:19

missbone I'm paying for my scan at 8 weeks. I am a terrible worrier and after a chemical pregnancy am worrying even more. It will be the best £80 I have ever spent if everything is okay and my mind is put at rest!

shemacin · 07/02/2012 19:06

Evening girls,
looking to join this group please.
Due 11th Oct - this will hopefully be my 3rd baby,
dd1 is 4 yrs and dd2 is 2 yrs,
had a mc sept 2010 but time really wasn't right then anyway as dd2 was only 8mnths!
fingers, toes and eyes crossed that this little one stays as don't think i could go through what i did last time.
im 39 right now but will be 40 by the time baby arrives.
looking forward to getting to know you all.
I live in scotland

DameFlatYouLent · 07/02/2012 19:19

evening all! Re. the dentist, I just went for check-ups to make sure everything was ok. Figured it's worth getting them in while they're free! Also, it's worth flossing for as long as you can - the dentist was very impressed with how little my gums bled last time

I'm feeling much better this evening - diarrhoea finally gone. Now starting to feel paranoid that I'm feeling too much better and something's wrong...stoopid.

sumsey, really really hoping everything's ok with you. I have a friend who bled on and off throughout her pregnancy and now has a very lively boy!

shemacin · 07/02/2012 19:39

ok, as long as i don't get bombarded with questions, i will admit to being a dentist.
to answer a few questions/ comments so far-
if you are registered with an NHS dentist then treatment is free.
you are allowed to have old amalgams removed and new ones placed, HOWEVER this is up to both you and your dentist as there is a theoretical risk of harm to the baby, most dentists practice extreme caution- esp in the first trimester when the MC rate is higher anyway.
dental X-rays are also safe as they are not irradiating the gonad region- BUT any taken need to be taken in agreement with you and your dentist and only if they are necessary to get a definitive diagnosis.
some dentist will do no amalgams and take no X-rays.
if you are in pain and the alternative is to be popping painkillers then you need to way up the benefit/ harm
HTH

DameFlatYouLent · 07/02/2012 19:50

thanks, shemacin! ooh, a dentist!

BabyDustPlease · 07/02/2012 20:39

Ok, so I feel better than I have for the last few days...is this a bad sign??? xx

missbone · 07/02/2012 20:53

O.k. I have a couple of questions. However, they are a little intimate, so, if you embarrass easily, then please look away now:

  1. Is anybody else constantly very wet 'down below' (sometimes it feels as though my CM -cervical mucus- is bubbling away down there)?

  2. Is anybody having full penetrative sex since their BFP? I'm afraid to, and Zelda West (baby guru extraordinaire) advises against it for the first twelve weeks. Meanwhile, i'm developing lockjaw from all the blowjobs Blush

missbone · 07/02/2012 20:55

Shemacin, welcome...and congratulations!

missbone · 07/02/2012 20:56

*embarass (oops!)

missbone · 07/02/2012 21:01

Caroline2103...congratulations & welcome. You'll find that nearly all of us on here are having stomache aches/cramps/twinges/pains fairly randomly and to varying degrees. We're all hoping they're just some of the mysteries of early pregnancy and absolutely nothing to worry about Hmm

Bubblebell1 · 07/02/2012 21:15

miss I'm very wet and have had sex I'm really really horny Blush when pregnant.
Apparently your body makes more cm to protect cervix, not sure how true just what I heard

Angelico · 07/02/2012 21:18

Heh heh love this board. Good to have a dentist on board, prepare to be tortured Shemacin. And missbone undies are constantly wet, is really gross.

I have my first midwife appt tomorrow so am going to ask her about sex, constipation and all those other questions you just love discussing with a complete stranger... totally non-humiliating of course... Hmm

Anybody getting / got swine flu jab? Are they still recommending it?

Today had a wave of total exhaustion in work. Also got a pain like a stitch when I was walking around. Googled it and apparently it is common and body saying "Slow down!" I do walk quite fast.

YompingJo · 07/02/2012 21:31

missbone ROFLMAO!!!!! Oh, thank you, your post made me snort with laughter and I really needed that!

Yes to Q1, although that's not unusual for me anyway Blush

A big fat "I wish" to Q2. Envy DH is away having a whale of a time while I cope with all this by myself, the lucky git. When he gets back though... Wink. Am stunned that somebody would suggest not to for 12 weeks - what on earth are we supposed to do with all those hormones? Shock. Can't believe it would actually do any damage, certainly not while the bean is so tiny. And surely the feel-good chemicals (vaguely think they might be endorphins?) are good for you?

I am feeling much more normal today - still virtually symptom-free though - if I think about it really hard, I could almost feel a little queasy, but that's it. Not particularly hormonal, not tired, not achy, not anything. I'm sure I should enjoy this state of affairs while I can though so I'm not going to complain about it. And I found a better pregnancy magazine - Prima Baby & Pregnancy made me cross, but Pregnancy & Birth is much better - down-to-earth, non-patronizing and informative. Has anyone else started buying magazines or am I alone in my obsessive pregnancy-related book and magazine buying? (Current count: 7 books and 3 magazines - and it's only been 3 days since the BFP Blush)

What is everyone's favourite magazine so far?

nasara · 07/02/2012 21:37

sumsey, fingers crossed for your scan on Friday xxx I'm also having spotting - I know how worrying it is {{{}}}}

missbone · 07/02/2012 22:06

Yomping, my fave magazine is anything which shows celebrities getting really fat whilst i sit here with my Wispa Golds and Tunnocks teacakes and a fantastic excuse for a bloated belly.

nasara, i am praying for all of us on here and particularly those having worrying symptoms.

angelico, could you ask your midwife if it's better to spit or swallow in the first trimester? Wink I'm not getting the swine flu jab but i am considering a large prick sometime soon Wink

bubble, i'm not horny whatsoever. In fact, unless i can think of a way of incorporating Tunnocks teacakes into our sex life (and sqeezed into a Coronation Street ad break) i can see me becoming celebate and DP taking a concubine Confused

Bubblebell1 · 08/02/2012 08:22

Hey all!

So tired. Been up since 5. Can't sleep Sad

I havnt bought any mags or books yet but I have downloaded every app possible on my iPhone

Told the boys last night they are happy and both want a new brother. I have a feeling that they may be getting what they wish for Smile prob why I can't think of any boy names.

Last day of relaxation. Will make the most of it but looking forward to doing something.

How is everyone?

Angelico · 08/02/2012 08:27

About to go for appt. Hope woman doesn't poke and prod at me! Bubblebell I feel your pain with disturbed sleep. And no Missbone I will not ask those questions for you... but do take a video camera along when you ask the midwife :o Try and time it so she's drinking something for the most dramatic possible reaction >:-D

Have a good day all x

Bubblebell1 · 08/02/2012 08:30

Good luck angel will be waiting for you to hear how it went Smile
