Lissbug I am so, so sorry. I will be praying for strength for you and a BFP in the very near future. Please come back to us soon xxx

Sumsey...what a nightmare. At least you're seeing 'the professionals' tomorrow. Have you done a pregnancy test like Lissbug? I honestly think you'll go crazy if you don't return to work this week; i'm stuck at home every day and it's not good for the soul. Am praying for you xx

Bubblebell1 · 07/02/2012 11:44

sums I'm keeping everything crossed for u.
Xx

missbone · 07/02/2012 11:48

Sumsey i've just realised you're seeing 'the professionals' this afternoon. Do let us know how it goes x

Zoeplankton · 07/02/2012 12:02

Oh Lissbug. That is very sad. But you're right - you know you can get pregnant now, and that's no small thing.

I know three couples who started new pregnancies in the months just after a miscarriage, and those couples have lovely babies now. God willing it will be just the same for you and your partner.

Zoeplankton · 07/02/2012 12:11

If the experience helps -

Went to the doctor's last night, with DH. She didn't even do a test, just figured if I said I am pregnant, then I am pregnant :)

Things I didn't know as a first-time hope-to-be-a-Mum...

  1. All my prescription meds and dentistry are now free (shame I'm not on any meds, really!)
  1. Most of my contact will, apparently, be with the midwife - hopefully I'll not need to see the Doctor much at all
  1. They give you a paper records book just like your car's service log, to take around with you, so even if you go abroad or something you've got a record
  1. The new advice is 1-2 units of alcohol a week are OK, even from the first trimester
  1. Don't start doing any exercise you weren't doing before

...that's pretty much all I remember. Also I got a big welcome pack which was half full of advertising, which made me a bit mad, but I'll just throw the ads right in the bin.

milk · 07/02/2012 12:35

Lissbug sending you many hugs!!!

People with MS... what are you eating? and mums with babies: how do you cope with feeling sick and changing a pooey nappy?!?

Psammead · 07/02/2012 13:14

Hi.

Tentatively joining in the thread. Got my proper BFP on Friday (had a faint one on Wednesday).

Very wary because of a miscarriage a few months ago so I am not telling anyone.

If all goes well, this will be DC2. Due 10th October.

My heart breaks for those who have miscarried or who are having problems.

DameFlatYouLent · 07/02/2012 13:33

hi psammead, congrats and sorry about your mc Sad

lissbug I'm so, so sorry. I hope you are ok.

milk, my heightened sense of smell combined with morning sickness is making nappies hell! Luckily DS is in a fairly good phase wrt lying still and letting me do what I have to, but there've been a few retches. He did 3 poos yesterday, and I could pretty much identify everything he'd eaten cos my sense of smell is that good!

DameFlatYouLent · 07/02/2012 14:04

....oh, in case anyone is wondering about my namechange, I don't have delusions of grandeur or anything!

bee1983 · 07/02/2012 14:10

So sorry about your news, lissbug.

bee1983 · 07/02/2012 14:14

Zoeplankton, I had my first doctor's appointment too! I don't know why but I was surprised that she just took my word for being pregnant too.

Anyway, the free prescriptions were a nice unexpected bonus. The GP prescribed me some calcium and vitamin D supps as I don't get a lot of daylight. And I've got a midwife booking appointment on the 21st, and apparently a scan around a week after than (when I'll be in my 8th or 9th week I think).

Any other ladies in Oxfordshire? There's an 'expecting in Oxford 2012' thread but it seems a bit quiet so I thought I'd ask here too. The thread is here if anyone wants to join me there: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1211552-Expecting-in-Oxford-2012-inc-late-2011-too?

DameFlatYouLent · 07/02/2012 16:35

oh also everyone make sure you make the most of the free dentist appointments!

YompingJo · 07/02/2012 16:57

Hi all,

lissbug, so sorry, my heart goes out to you :(. Hope you are as OK as you can be and hope to see you back soon.

sumsey, crossing fingers and toes and arms and legs and eyes for you.

Free dentistry? Confused - the book I've got says that you can't have dentistry done while pregnant - is that just the sort of dentistry where you'll need a local anaesthetic? Free prescriptions is good though, I will stock up on inhalers! Grin

Went to supermarket last night and bought 3 pregnancy magazines, ginger biscuits and ginger tea and lots of green veg Blush. Lol, good job no-one I know saw me, the cat would be well and truly out of the bag! Pregnancy magazines are scary things, kind of wish I hadn't bought them now. Full of "my toddler won't eat healthy food" and "what do I do when she screams and screams" type stories. Gulp. Shock

Angelico · 07/02/2012 17:08

Lissbug I am so so sorry to hear your news. Sending you lots of love and a virtual hug :( I know it's probably little consolation now but as others have said you may find you get pregnant very quickly after this. My sister had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, was devastated and within 2 months was pregnant again with my lovely nephew. Sending you lots of love xo

Angelico · 07/02/2012 17:11

Sumsey hope everything is okay. Try not to panic - my sister is currently pregnant but she started bleeding at 7 weeks and panicked. It turned out to be a 'cervical erosion' and bean is thriving (13 weeks now) xo

Sumsey · 07/02/2012 17:15

lissbug big hugs to u hon

back from midwife appt....not a whole lots said or done.... Confused

they are hoping that it is just implantation bleeding...BUT if have lot of blood or changes to very red or any pain then MUST go to A&E......advised me that i do have a early scan booked on friday at 11.00!!!! the next few days will be a living HELL!! :( :( :(

either way the results from scan i will have to go back a week after.

told me that i am automatically that i am a high risk pregnancy! because of my previous deliveries....one emergency c-section one elective c-section.....

i cant think about that now though...just gotta concentrate on positive thoughs

the temptation and need for a smoke and a Wine is massive......!!!!!!! :(

Sumsey · 07/02/2012 17:19

great news angelico.....i know i should not be paniking as much as this will be DS 3 or DD1 but cant help it......

fantastic news about sister! so you and sis wont be that far apart with new additions to your families xxxx
:)

going to have a virtual Wine....need a smoke smiley..... =#~
