Hi just joined Mumsnet and couldn't find a thread for Dec/Jan babies. Anyone due around this time?

hi everyone, im still here too.

have strong contractions for a few hours every day but they never lead to anything. 4 days overdue now

mistletoes · 05/01/2004 19:18

Hi ccc, we're all overdue - I'm now 11 days! Hopefully soon.

marsup · 06/01/2004 19:08

What is happening with you all today, girls? silence is making me think you might all be starting off at once.

SenoraPostrophe · 06/01/2004 19:13

Nothing here. Except I appear to have over-exerted myself a bit - keep getting weird cramps in my legs.

chocolatechipcookie · 07/01/2004 06:59

no, still here. 6 days over now

toyahsam · 07/01/2004 14:08

Overdue too now...only 1 day and counting... where are all these babies??

kiwicath · 07/01/2004 14:13

Hi girlies, just checking in with you all. If you're a bit bored and haven't got them all ready - go out now and immediately buy some disposable knickers!!!!! Didn't think I'd ever use them but what life savers they were. I'm still using them now - two weeks after that special day. Get LOADS and get EXTRA LARGE!!! Good luck my luvlies and eagerly awaiting your announcements.

marsup · 07/01/2004 17:10

I don't know, kiwicath - I forgot to buy disposable knickers and have only regretted it once (and the stains came out). Also I bought washable nipple shields in case of leaks and I don't leak. And I bought nipple cream in case of cracks and I don't have cracks! I do have a wee gorgeous baby who doesn't know how to burp and gets colic at night for 1 to 3 hours at a time though... My advice would be: get your mothers to come and stay for a few weeks after the birth, so you can nap during the day. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

joolee · 07/01/2004 21:02

ok now a little bit tired of waiting (8 days overdue). had the get together with the girls this afternoon and held two adorable little babies so now time to try inducing naturally!

had a curry tonight but no joy yet so i guess dh had better get himself ready

hope everyone else is okay and that deeno has had her little one (haven't checked announcements yet).

hi ya i used ot post on another thread re jan babies, but it seems to have given up the ghost, i was due on the 7th and am so fed up, my 18mth old ds is constantly asking for the baba!!!

DH is not keen at all but might have to think of england tonite !!, as the twinges don't shift to significant conntractions , i was induced with DS and so desperatley dont want it again, any other previos pregnacies that were ininduced out there? good liuck to all

chocolatechipcookie · 10/01/2004 17:50

hi misspastry, how overdue were you last time?

im 9 days over now

joolee · 10/01/2004 19:26

hi misspastry. i am feeling quite fed up too and i was due on the 30 dec! still no show although have tried all natural methods. not even twinges or false alarms!

will need to have a membrane sweep on monday if nothing happens before . really did not want to be induced.

i think one of the worst parts about waiting is that everyone else is tired of waiting too

OP posts:
chocolatechipcookie · 10/01/2004 19:51

i have to have a sweep too joolee, im not looking forward to it

joolee · 10/01/2004 19:56

yeah it's a real disappointment especially as i wanted a homebirth too.

OP posts:
misspastry · 10/01/2004 21:26

hi again

i was 12 days overdue with ds, booked for antenatal on tues, i guess they might do sweep, wretched, had it with ds, how is every one trying to stay comfortable and more to the point sane, ive stopped answering phone, dear friends but leave us alone it'll happen at some point springs to mind !!!

chocolatechipcookie · 10/01/2004 22:43

joolee, surely you can still have a homebirth cant you?

joolee · 10/01/2004 23:35

i think it will be okay if the sweep starts it off but there is a greater chance of intervention following that i believe and i will need to stay in hospital for that. the hospitals like to stick to their procedures!

OP posts:
joolee · 10/01/2004 23:39

misspastry, were you induced after 12 days?? your choice or the hospital? if the mother and baby are healthy is there any need to induce within the accepted 14 days? i feel a bit under pressure to induce, not to mention dh and myself now fed up with this limbo state . would like to get on with rest of life now!

OP posts:
misspastry · 11/01/2004 14:12

i quite agree jolee, i didnt really give it much thought when induced after 12 days, i suppose in a way i ws just pleased that my baby was coming , it seems to be practice in our area that you are induced at 12 days, but saying that my dleivery was ok , no other interventiion was needed,

are you having twinges in the night then nothing more?

WideWebWitch · 11/01/2004 14:44

Just popping into this thread to say sympathy to you overdue ones - the waiting is hideous isn't it? I comforted myself with the thought that it couldn't possibly go on for ever.

SenoraPostrophe · 11/01/2004 14:47

Can I join the overdue ones now? (due today).

Due to dd being in hospital (see damn emergency docs thread) I'm v pleased to be late, but I don't want to do 10 more days! We'll see though.

Good luck joolee and misspastry. Anyone know if Tinyfeet has given birth yet?

motherinferior · 11/01/2004 17:23

Buggrit, SP, and there was me thinking you'd gone off to give birth.

Many commiserations, my loves.

joolee · 11/01/2004 18:02

Thanks all for your commiserations - this is the worst part of my pregnancy!
misspastry, no twinges at all, just the baby moving and kicking a lot. I reckon it just hasn't been cooking long enough yet .
SP, welcome to the overdue club! having said that you will probably see your baby before i will!
