Hi just joined Mumsnet and couldn't find a thread for Dec/Jan babies. Anyone due around this time?

Marsup, sorry you're not feeling too good right now. As i keep being told, it'll be worth it when it's all over! I've bravely decided to go away over Christmas. I was really upset at the thought of not seeing my family so we're leaving tonight. I didn't think there was much difference in sitting in front of the TV all night or sitting in front of the car! I'm going to take it really easy and my mum has contacted her local gp surgery to tell them I'm coming and has also booked me in for a 36 week check while I'm there. WE're not planning on staying for as long as originally planned so will come back down south for New YEar (sober for both of us- dh is too scared to drink in case we have to dash to the hosipital!)
Take care and have a nice XMAs and NEw Year

marsup · 23/12/2003 21:28

Merry Christmas to you all, hope you have no awkward surprises Hayls.

SenoraPostrophe · 23/12/2003 21:29

Good on you Hayls!

have a great time.

joolee · 24/12/2003 11:48

I am glad you made the comments about the Braxton Hicks getting stronger Marsup. The same has been happening to me and I was beginning to worry about giving birth earlier than I expected. Oh well, only another week until the due date...

Joolee, I'm not at all convinced they are BH now. I thought back pain was something one could expect in 'pre'-labour? I think I'm going to be spending Christmas walking backwards and forwards and taking paracetamol

joolee · 25/12/2003 01:02

marsup, just read your thread on the 'show' and hope everything is going okay with you.

Merry christmas to everyone - as you can tell, can't sleep tonight (due to discomfort rather than the excitement of Christmas). Can anybody who is almost due get excited about Christmas this year??

OP posts:
deeno · 25/12/2003 01:29

Yeah you're right Joolee it is difficult to get excited about Christmas when you're almost due. It's my official due date today and feeling bloody uncomfortable. But as yet no signs of baby arriving.
I haven't logged on for a couple of days as been so busy finishing off for Xmas. So - congratulations to Karenanne on the birth of Tyler, and, Marsup, I've just read your message about the show on the other thread - hope everything is okay and Good Luck. You're not due for another week or so are you? Sounds like babe may be making an early appearance.
How are things with you tinyfeet as you are due today as well aren't you?
Happy Christmas to all anyway. Make sure you all take it easy - I'm determined to relax and be pampered after the chaos of the last few days.

mistletoes · 26/12/2003 01:58

Hi it's tiny feet. Marsup - are you still around? Hope all is well. Congrats Karenanne. Joolee, I enjoyed Christmas today, despite being due. I felt like I had to be excited though for DD1. Deeno, I don't feel like anything is happening, but I am really tired all the time - have been sleeping more than usual and yawning constantly. Wondering if this baby will ever arrive?! Happy Christmas!

deeno · 28/12/2003 19:33

Hello to all. Just seen marsup's birth announcement - baby Leo on Boxing Day! Congratulations!!!!
Tinyfeet, how are you doing? I'm still here and getting bloody impatient! I've been feeling really tired as well - still waiting for this 'rush of energy (nesting instinct)' that people tell me I should be feeling.
Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas. .

kiwicath · 28/12/2003 19:33

Hi guys. Haven't been online for a while...I've been busy!!! Baby Jake arrived at 02.23 on 23/12/2003 ( 2.5 hours after due date). 5 hour labour from the start of mild cramps at home to delivery and stitching (natural, gas/air, small cut). No warning signs, no show, no broken waters, no back ache etc etc. Was 3cm without really knowing about it then rushed back home to pack. Once back at the hospital I was 6cm. My Doctor came 5 minutes later, 8cm, wheeled into labor room 5 minutes after that, 10cm. Was a half hour in the delivery room before he was born and another half hour of checks and stitching. Completely bowled me away. Had no warning so hubby didn't make it until later that morning. Had good friends with me who where just fab! Jake was a healthy 8.05 pounds, 51cm long with 35cm head. Looks exactly like his dad. Flew back home to Sharm El Sheikh when he was 2.5 days old and now trying to get my head around the breast feeding thing. I've been truly blessed, not only with a relatively hassle free birth but also an adorable little boy. Good luck girls. Got my hands full but will check in with you when I get a few spare minutes

deeno · 28/12/2003 19:38

Just seen your message too Kiwicath - congratulations and well done. Baby Jake sounds gorgeous. At this rate I'll be the only one left on this thread to give birth - oooh soooo nervous.

kiwicath · 28/12/2003 19:40

Marsup, congratulations darlin!!!

kiwicath · 28/12/2003 19:46

Deeno, are you overdue yet? I was beating my little fella up thinking that he was going to be late as I had no warning signs what so ever. It really can happen that fast. I still can't quite believe it myself - watching Eastenders one minute, baby in my arms 5 hours later! Raspberry leaf tea!!! Drank 4 cups everyday for 3 weeks before. Not an inducer but am convinced it's what made my labor such a joy - drink some now! Hang in there kiddo

dont worry, deeno. Im still here. and dont feel like the babys got any intention of coming just yet after a couple of false alarms. i think i'll be last not you!

mistletoes · 29/12/2003 01:23

Hi Deeno, still around here! Nothing happening yet Will hopefully have some news soon.

deeno · 29/12/2003 12:13

Hi all, Glad I'm not the only one still waiting. Kiwicath - I'm going to make raspberry leaf tea right now.

toyahsam · 29/12/2003 16:32

Am new to the site, but been "lurking" for a while, am due my ds2 on the 6th January and am getting very impatient. Am kinda scared as well my ds is only 16 months old and can't help thinking I am not going to be able to cope with 2 little monkeys demanding my attention...anyway thats perhaps another story.. Been getting a few twinges today..keep getting excited but still officially got another 7 days to wait.. got a bag of caullophrum (sp?) ready from my homepath..but resisting temptation to try too early, have to say not convinced it will work. Hope second baby comes with intervention though.. ds was induced a week or so late, because of heart decelerations.. just being impatient I think.

mistletoes · 29/12/2003 18:08

Hi again Deeno! Still here!! I haven't changed my name back - can't be bothered. Have a date with DH tonight for some to try to get this baby to hurry up.
Welcome Toyahsam. Know the feeling of waiting and impatience. Can't concentrate on much right now. I'm really hoping for no intervention though, as my experience with being induced was not pleasant.

toyahsam · 29/12/2003 18:27

Might try and persuade my dh for a helping hand later, he is convinced it'll work, but after trying everything last time (including downing an entire bottle of castor oil) I figure i'll have to wait til its ready. When are you due mistletoes.

deeno · 29/12/2003 18:48

Mistletoes - i'm feeling bloody worn out at the moment so rumpy pumpy with dp is my very last resort, i'm sorry to say! Good luck to you though - If you go into labour straight afterwards I'll most definitely be following your advice no matter how tired I am. Baby absolutely no intention of making an appearance at the moment. I am beginning to think it must be a lazy boy in there. Welcome to toyahsam. I understand your impatience - although it's only really since I've passed my due date (25th Dec) that I've started to feel fed up. I think I was working towards that date so much that now I am over time seems to be passing snail pace. Anyway I am hoping for a labour like kiwicath - Eastenders one minute, babe in arms a few hours later

mistletoes · 29/12/2003 18:55

Toyahsam, like Deeno - my due date was 25 Dec. Believe me, some rumpy pumpy is the last thing on my mind right now, as I feel like an enormously fat cow. But it's the one thing that everyone says should speed things up, and my doc has already said that he advises no sex for 6 weeks after baby, so I thought we better get some in while we can, for DH's sake. . . I'll let you know if it works. If you don't see me tomorrow at this time, then it's probably worked!

deeno · 29/12/2003 19:01

I know the feeling mistletoes about feeling like a 'fat cow'. Although what you said about having to wait six weeks after the birth for some is a pretty good motivator. If you're not here this time tomorrow I might be right behind you .

toyahsam · 29/12/2003 19:18

so whats the theory behind it then, I asked my MW last week she suggested, a large glass of wine to relax the body, and a large amount of nipple tweaking..at least an hour.. I get bored after a couple of minutes though. Suppose I will just have to wait, my MW has said she will do a sweep next time I see her though, so hopefully that will do the trick.

mistletoes · 29/12/2003 19:23

Toyahsam, the theory is, I think, that semen has some hormone or something in it which might assist in effacement?? Help me one of you MWs out there. I'm sure I'm getting this all wrong. The nipple tweaking is supposed to stimulate production of the same type of hormone? Ok, I'm sure I'm making all this up. . . Deeno, it has to be soon for both of us!
