Hi just joined Mumsnet and couldn't find a thread for Dec/Jan babies. Anyone due around this time?

I did read somewhere that the hormone in the semen is more effective if taken orally???? Definately not that desperate baby can stay put..!! I would be going potty if I was over my dd again, one of you must be getting near..is it your first baby?

mistletoes · 29/12/2003 19:59

It's my second. I was 41 weeks when induced with DD1. I think I may just be one of those women who has a long gestational period. . . Never heard that about taking the semen orally - sounds as though that myth was made up by a man. . .

joolee · 30/12/2003 10:25

Hi all

kiwicath and marsup congratulations!! great news and something to make new year extra special.

today is my due date, at last, but baby still very comfy inside. i am quite happy to leave it there as i still have loads of things on my to do list e.g. celebrate new year and sale shopping .

will try to induce naturally in about a week's time i think as i am quite comfortable at the moment but still drinking the raspberry leaf tea!

Hi - I'm still here. No nooky last night - so can't give any advice on that. Fell asleep early. BH- just about every hour while I'm awake.

deeno · 31/12/2003 10:22

Mistletoes - I'm still here too - even after nooky!!! BH's aren't as regular as yours. Like you say - its got to be soon for both of us
Toyahsam - it's my first baby so feeling a bit nervous about what to expect, but really hope it all comes on naturally rather than being induced. But so far, some nooky yesterday morning and an afternoon cleaning the house from top to bottom and baby is still staying put! Mind you the weather is freezing so I don't blame it.
Joolee, where do you have the energy to go sale shopping?
What are everyones plans for celebrating New Year?

mistletoes · 31/12/2003 14:47

Hi Deeno - I'm still here!!!!!!! New Year's plans to get drunk on raspberry leaf tea and to bang on some pots and pans just after midnight if I'm still awake.

toyahsam · 31/12/2003 15:51

Bang on some pots and pans?? thats a new one.. Told dh earlier that tonights plan is a hot curry, large bottle of wine, a bit of and the raspberry leaf.. if I am still here in the morning, I officially give up and will wait for it to decide on its birthday... although am having very promising pains in my back..fingers crossed.

mistletoes · 31/12/2003 16:05

Sounds good toyahsam. We bang on pots and pans here in the US. Stupid, I know. Sounds like your evening will be more promising than mine. Good luck and happy new year!

kiwicath · 01/01/2004 11:09

Hi All, thinking of you all over this time. Hope you had a fun and comfortable new years. Also thinking right about now, how much easier it was to type whilst pregnant as opposed to trying to balance baby on knees and type 2 handed. I'll have to waste all those years of typing classes and go back to doing it one handed! Really guys, I am thinking of you all and feel a bit sheepish that I complained so much about him not coming on time when in actual fact he was only 2.5 hours late!! I thought that because I had no warning signs what so ever, that it meant he would be late - how wrong was I??? One thing I forgot to mention though was that, whilst watching Eastenders, I had to poo about 5 times!!! Bodies way of clearing you out so you don't make a mess in the delivery room I had no bh until it came to the real thing. Didn't know it was the real thing though as no one really told me what a contraction was going to feel like. In a word (or 2) Period Pains!!! Loving motherhood but was a hell of a lot better at being pregnant! Eagerly awaiting your announcements. Take it how you like but 'there is light at the end of the tunnel'. Hang in there

SenoraPostrophe · 01/01/2004 13:25

You'll get the hang of it, kiwicath (I think it took about 3 weeks for me with dd and all my friends say I'm a bit of a maternal type.) Those first few weeks are scarey aren't they? Glad I know what I'm doing this time.

Congratulations anyway.

mistletoes · 01/01/2004 13:51

Hi kiwicath and SraP, Congrats to you kc. I'm still still waiting!!! It's insane really even though I anticipated a late birth. Hope you all enjoyed a happy new year. I was fast asleep by 9pm.

deeno · 01/01/2004 22:38

Happy new year to everyone. Are you still here as well Mistletoes? A curry last night and some noisy new years fireworks and rockets failed to bring baby on. Have you got a hospital appointment soon to decide when to induce if baby not arrived? I have one on Monday 5th Jan. Surely we will have both delivered by end of next week ???
I looked at the due dates list lower down the thread and there are a few of us due or over now - mistletoes, myself, joolee, choc chip cookie and SraP - Birth announcements thread should be busy very soon
Kiwicath, I'm a bit apprehensive about how I'll cope with motherhood. I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of it

mistletoes · 02/01/2004 09:50

Hi Deeno, yes still around - apptmt on 5th Jan also. Given their silence, I think joolee and ccc must have already had theirs. I thought SraP was due in mid-january?

marsup · 02/01/2004 16:01

Good luck mistletoes, deeno and senoraP. Any news, joolee? It can't be long for you all now. Make the most of the sleep while you can, you never know when it is going to start!

mistletoes · 02/01/2004 18:57

Thanks, Marsup. Hoping to join you with a birth announcement soon.

joolee · 02/01/2004 22:54

hiya everyone. happy new year! still no sign of the baby yet although we had a false alarm yesterday when i came down with a painful stomach bug, great timing! just resting and recovering today and hoping to be back to normal again before the baby arrives for real.

due to see the mw on thursday then will be going to hospital the following week if there is still no show.

good luck to everyone who is expecting around now.

deeno · 03/01/2004 00:25

Hi all. Sorry, you're right mistletoes - SraP is due mid Jan - looks like it's you and me, joolee and ccc who are now over.
Intend to take your advice marsup and get as much sleep as poss even with this ever growing more uncomfortable bump.
Hope you're feeling better Joolee.
Good luck to everyone in case something happens before I next log on

mistletoes · 03/01/2004 00:56

Good luck to you too, Deeno and Joolee (and ccc if you're still around). I wish I had more to say, but I don't!

joolee · 04/01/2004 22:15

Feeling much better now and well rested. Might have overdone it a bit by going shopping in Sainsburys today but will have a lie in tomorrow!

Have made plans for our antenatal class group to come round to our place on Wednesday for a get together - don't know whether this was because i am confident the baby won't arrive sooner or i am still in denial .

Am still determined to carry on as usual!

Hi all, glad to hear you're doing OK. I officially started maternity leave today, even though I haven't been at work since the week before Xmas. Still got 2 or 3 weeks to go, depending on whether the scan date or my date is right! Hopefully it's more like 3 weeks as the builders working on our extension who promised to be finished before Xmas haven't done so. Getting a bit stressed out that it won't be finished before Junior arrives and I'll be living in chaos forever. I've had to take my wedding ring off as well and feel naked without it AND I cannot get any sleep!!! Sorry to complain about everything so much when you're all obviously in the same boat but it got it off my chest a bit. Booked an appointment at the hairdresser for tomorrow morning to try and cheer myself up a bit. Haven't told dh though, as he is so over-protective atm he won't let me go anywhere on my own.... Just in case, apparently

SenoraPostrophe · 05/01/2004 14:44

Well today was my original due date (since revised to the 12th). Can't decide if I'm dissapointed or pleased that I'm not having contractions yet!

I'm having a day off anyway - dp is out for the day and dd is at the childminder's just in case! Maybe I should do some accounts or something.

Hayls - a haircut is a great idea. You won't get another chance for a while! I think the key to sleeping at this stage in pregnancy is having a toddler - I am so shattered when I get to bed that I have to sleep! Hope you're all looking after yourselves OK.

deeno · 05/01/2004 15:02

Hi all,

Well baby still very happy inside even though 11 days over now. But whether he/she likes it or not I'm going into hospital at 6pm this eve to be induced. So shall be away for a few days and returning (hopefully very soon) with our beautiful baby - I'm terrified so please will you all send lots of positive thoughts my way .
Mistletoes, if babe hasn't arrived since you last posted I hope your appointment at the hospital today went well and no doubt you will also have a date now to be induced. Good luck - I'll be thinking of you - our babes may even share the same birthday!
Take care all

SenoraPostrophe · 05/01/2004 15:05

here's some positive thoughts,deeno >>>>

So you'll have an epiphany baby! In Spain, today is the day the children get their presents from the 3 kings. I keep telling everyone that my baby will "come with the Kings" but it turns out that he probably won't. Yours will though - it'll be lucky!

deeno · 05/01/2004 15:08

That's lovely SraP - thank you!

mistletoes · 05/01/2004 15:59

Good luck Deeno! Thinking of you. Still no baby here. Will look out for your birth announcement. Good luck to you Srap too!!
