The3Bears · 14/02/2012 13:34

vinolover I made my 20 week scan straight after my NT one so that was better than waiting for the post, but now i find myself counting down the days Grin

About the tuna, I am also obsessed with it as ds loves tuna salad sandwiches/pasta etc so we have it alot but my midwife advised no more than 2 cans a week at my booking appt I had completely forgot about this from last time I was pregnant.

Vinolover · 14/02/2012 14:17

2 cans?? Oh bugger! Although, I have about half a tin a time so that's 4 times a week which is about right. Instead of tuna in pitta etc I have started making tuna pasta with lots of sweetcorn and cucumber to bulk it out a bit. Yummy... I now want my lunch again Wink

I couldnt make my 20 weeks appointment because it's being done at a different hospital. For the life of me I can't think why they need to confuse matters but I suppose I shall just have to wait.

I haven't heard from you in ages Frilly. I can't believe you're 12 weeks already! Only 2+3 behind me :) It seemed much longer than that really early on! Sorry you're still suffering though :(

0FrillyKnickers0 · 14/02/2012 16:02

Oh Vino, I didn't realise we were so close! Did you have an early scan or was that just Fish? Maybe that's why I thought you were further ahead. Are you still working at the pub? x

geekette · 14/02/2012 16:23

I am soooooo relieved! the scan showed a rather big bean in a nice sac tasting, and punching and kicking. That was all I needed to know.

I can put up with as many pain killers as possible as long as that little bean is ok!

And yes frilly, today is a good day but I have had some of the worst days ever and I have lost a lot of weight due to the pain, vomiting and loss of appetite. it should come back (soon please) but apparently the little buggers are quite parasitic :) so they are fine most of the time even if you aren't.

I need to brace for more pain episodes but as most of you pointed out it is all worth it when you know the little ones are ok!

And thanks for the list of equipment.

Oh and Needles, it looks like I will disrupt your list. My new due date is 21/08!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 14/02/2012 16:30

Geekette, what pain have you been having? Sorry to be nosey Blush

Needles, my stats so far are: 0frillyknickers0 (24) DC1 EDD:28/08/12

Vinolover · 14/02/2012 17:04

I had a private early reassurance scan at 6 weeks Frilly but started spotting 2 days later. I got until 10 weeks and had to go to the epu because of slightly more spotting and had another scan then. That seems like a lifetime ago now and I am that glad to have that part of the pregnancy over with :) I know I shouldn't wish the time away but I couldn't cope with the worrying in the end!
We really are close :) When's your 12 week scan?

That is lovely news Geekette :) Im not sure what your pain is (Sorry I may have missed this) but I really hope it will ease up for you!

Have just had a lovely nutritious dinner of cheesy chips :) They were oven chips so it's not all bad Wink Im sure my heartburn will suffer for it though!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 14/02/2012 17:18

It must have been so hard for you Vino! I remember being a bit freaked out with what was happening to you so I am really sorry if I wasn't there for you as the others were. I'm so glad to be 12 weeks and have the worrying bit out of the way. My scan is on the 23rd (week Thursday) and I can't freaking wait! I just want to see him/her!!

Vinolover · 14/02/2012 17:50

Ahh don't be silly :) I can completely understand... Your scan will be here before you know it! That's 3 days before my gender scan :) It's going to be an exciting week!

Vinolover · 14/02/2012 18:00

Oh, I am still working in the pub... It's driving me insane but only 5 months until I start maternity leave :)

glittershoes · 14/02/2012 19:10

Cheesey chips! Jealous of your tea Vino! I am waiting for DH to get in from College (he is doing a degree part time), now would it be completely unromantic and unValentiney for me to cook it now, eat my part and then fall asleep....?

So pleased your scan went well geekette

Poppy, we too are looking to move, saw a 3 bedroom today that is nice (if not particularly glamourous or pretty) so may put in an application for it. We really need to move, staying in our flat isn't really an option, but the thought of all the sorting, packing and unpacking is exhausting me just thinking of it!

NeedlesCuties · 14/02/2012 19:20

I think I might have some sort of bladder infection... have very sore lower abdomen - sort of the whole section right across from under my belly button. Doesn't really hurt to pee, but I'm aware of that area of my body, IYSWIM?

Left a urine sample in with GP today, so hopefully will hear tomorrow if I need anti-biotics or what. A bit scared of what possible damage it could cause to DC2, but DH (who is also a GP) told me not to worry as it's only damaging if you leave a UTI untreated for a long time. Either way, I'm still worried!!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 14/02/2012 19:46

Needles don't worry. If you do have to have anti-biotics it'll be fine for the baby. My sister had them for UTI as did another pregnant friend...everything was fine. Don't worry :-)

Can someone please make my sickness go away? Only ate one tiny mouthful of dinner before rushing to the loo :-(

geekette · 14/02/2012 20:57

Don't worry about the antibiotics needles. Better to take it than have the UTI knock you out and there are antibiotics safe in pregnancy.
I have had two UTI scares during this pregnancy and had amoxicillin for both without any side effects I could notice on me or baby.

Hi Frilly, the pain starts with excruciating period type cramps in the lower abdomen or pelvic area. This then spreads in the course of hours to the mid-abdomen where it is no longer a cramping but constant throbbing pain. So I feel like i have two sources of trouble. It then spreads to the left and right sides of the abdomen as cramps. By the mid abdomen point, I am reaching for panadol. By the full four sided pain, I am heading for codeine. the full four sided pain will last for three-four days and does not have a relieving position as all bits of the tummy are tender and hurt.

I get to sleep after the codeine doses... The pain retreats in the reverse pattern. In those four days, I will also throw up every time I get up from bed, before and after eating and once I even threw up during the meal. Ugh. Meal sizes are also greatly reduced.

The bed rest involved leads to severe back pain. Yoga helps that bit a lot once I can start moving again. I use thermal patches whilst I can't move.

No one should be scared, this is very much not part of the regular pregnancy effects and seems to be down to some rather large fibroids I have!!!

PoppyS34 · 14/02/2012 21:15

blimey geekette that sounds awful :( but glad the scan went well! Needles fingers crossed it's not a UTI..

glitter we're in a very small flat too, almost a studio (and in a damp mouldy basement) so not ideal and really need to move, I hope we find somewhere soon! good luck with yours, hope it goes through for you.

Not only did my bump bands arrive today, but so did my Ebay maternity jeans. They're great, so comfy and look just like my normal jeans - very pleased. :)

Angel786 · 14/02/2012 22:02

Hope you feel better geekette and needles

Hoping my bump bands arrive tomorrow poppy Grin

Anyone else avoiding telling work at the moment? Am getting v worried as it's only a matter of time before they guess Hmm

Happy valentines all x

Westcountrylovescheese · 14/02/2012 22:20

Geekette and Needles I hope you both start feeling better really soon. I feel awful I was moany girl this morning, my cold is nothing in comparison... Take care of yourselves.

Angel, I've now told my whole office now! I couldn't keep it a secret any longer.

glittershoes · 14/02/2012 22:31

So awful for everyone feeling rubbish.

I have suddenly come over very funny - I felt faint about an hour ago but put it down to not eating much. I have now eaten something but feel sort of weak and fluttery.

That sounds silly but it is like I can feel my pulse over all my body and every 40 seconds or so it sort of rises to my throat and flips and I feel breathless. It is a bit like my heart skipping a beat or something (fitting for Valentine's Day).

I'm a bit worried - anyone else had this or know what it could be?

Angel786 · 14/02/2012 23:17

Well done west country I'm a bit scared as on,y been back from mat leave three months Blush

glitter ive not had anyth like that, rest up and call the gp if still not right in the am? Hope you feel better

OP posts:
NeedlesCuties · 15/02/2012 07:43

glitter I have felt like that during this pregnancy and also when not pregnant.

Sometimes I have suffered it due to low blood pressure - the body is working harder to try to get the blood round. Other possible reason is having low iron - get eating some steak or chocolate.

Hope you feel better soon.

hamncheese · 15/02/2012 08:31

glitter!! I have had the EXACT same thing. I got it a few times pre-pregnancy and now a few times since. It's when I haven't eaten in a long while, have a low blood sugar and when I feel cold (which is often just now brrr) and then I eat a meal and about 10 minutes after I feel really light headed and woozy like I've been drugged and sick and achey and my heart is totally racing and bouncing out of my chest.

I found this online which seems to match it: sci.rutgers.edu/forum/archive/index.php/t-5183.html
and the fact I have very deep veins...that's mentioned.

Anyhow not had it for a week but going to the doctor about it on Friday in case anything can be done. But I know its not the effect of constant low BP as mine has been fine the whole time when checked. I seem to be able to avoid it by not letting myself get hungry, and if I do get hungry eat something small, wait 15 mins, then eat another bit and wait again before eating the rest. I don't know if this helps but it's really scary feels like someone has doped your food with something :/

On a positive for anyone I've had four days of not feeling tired. Not wanting to jinx it but think I could be doing all that blooming and glowing I've been hankering after :)

(14+3)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 15/02/2012 08:49

Wow. There are loads of us due in August!

Geekette, that sounds really grim. It must've been really worrying when you first felt it? Is there anything that can be done other than pain killers or is it just a case of going with it?

alisonmcg · 15/02/2012 09:30

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all feeling a bit better today those of you who have been suffering!

Thanks Needles for keeping the list updated you're doing a great job.

Well it's FINALLY our first scan tomorrow. Will be 12+4 so hoping the dates match up or are close! Soooo unbelievably nervous/excited. Trying my best to think all positive thoughts but it's so hard not to be a little bit scared! In two minds as to whether or not to watch OBEM tonight because think it will just add to the desperation to see our wee baby up on screen (hopefully!)

Does anyone else have their scan this week or am I one of the last ones to get to this point? X

glittershoes · 15/02/2012 09:32

Feeling much better this morning - thank you!

So glad (well not glad but you know what I mean!) that other people have had it! I will make sure I eat regularly, another change - I have never really worried about eating on time or anything but you forget how much your body is doing! I will have to become the snack queen!

Thanks for sharing hamncheese, you have made me feel much better and needles I am taking your advice for steak and chocolate as gospel, and, as your DH is a GP (I think or did I make that up?!) then it is obviously medical advice to get on the Dairy Milk! Grin

0FrillyKnickers0 · 15/02/2012 09:51

Hi alisonmcg! Congrats on the scan tomorrow! Mine is a week tomorrow and i will be 13+2 so we are fairly close in dates. I got excited just now when I realised it's 'a week tomorrow' not, '2 weeks tomorrow' or 'a week on thursday'! I have been quite ill so can't wait to see that baby is ok :)

Make sure you let us know how it goes!!
