capecath · 13/02/2012 14:48

Hey all!
At 14 weeks, nausea is easing up, cold has gone, 18 month old DS's cold has gone, and things are looking up :)
Getting back into the swimming again and it is just wonderful.
Been checking out New Look's maternity section and they've got some really great stuff!! Don't feel like I'm quite ready for maternity stuff just yet... not quite popping out all of my trousers...
I hear the thoughts about needing to eat more healthily hmm. No more morning sickness excuses for me anymore :P x

PictureThis · 13/02/2012 17:48

I had my NT scan this afternoon, nuchal measurement was 1.2mm which is good and I've had my bloods taken so should get my combined results back soon. My dates have changed, they've brought my due date forward by 3 days so I'm now due on the 27th August making me 12 weeks today.

Vinolover · 13/02/2012 18:13

Good evening all

It's great to hear all of these happy scan news :) it's such an amazing feeling knowing everything is looking good at 12 weeks!
I have my gender scan in 13 days and I am beyond excited!!! I am still experiencing the same sort of pregnancy I had with my DD but everyone keeps saying Im having a boy going by my 12 week scan picture. I just can't wait to know either way!
I went to look at prams today and my goodness, the choice!!! I think I have chosen now but just need to decide on the colour. I swear I didn't have this trouble 8 years ago when I was expecting DD!
I can't stop listening to LO's heartbeat with my doppler. I told myself I would do it every few days but I can't help it. LO was having a fidget today as it took ages for me to find, que me nearly freaking out but then it was there loud and clear at 172 bpm :) It's the best sound!

Time now to flop on the sofa! Honestly, it gets to about 3pm and I feel exhausted! Im suffering with heartburn again today so it's a pretty miserable evening here. Think i'll just go to bed :)

Hope everyone is feeling ok, and good luck to those who have their scans soon :)

barkwithnobite · 13/02/2012 19:11

Hi all, I had the weirdest past few days, I've been killing myself with worry. Had midwife appt last week and she couldn't hear heartbeat on the Doppler....even though she said that didn't mean anything was wrong because the baby is still very small, I panicked everyday.....I had a scan today and this morning, I was so nervous, I went out and bought 'answer' PT. did test twice and first was very very very faint line (could barely see a line). Did test again, and line was still very very faint....I was in panic mode....hey presto, had scan this afternoon and baby was waving at us- I burst into tears in the scan room....phew....I'm so happy now. I wonder what went wrong with the PT!!!!

NeedlesCuties · 13/02/2012 20:05

bark sorry you've had a rough time. I think I remember reading somewhere that the level of pregnancy hormone reduces a bit as the weeks progress in pregnancy..... I could be totally wrong, but through the mists of time I think I read it.

Anyway, glad the scan was good and settled your mind.

Have a Brew

barkwithnobite · 13/02/2012 20:14

Yes needles, I found that on forums this morning while I was in panic mode. I'm still thinking - dodgy kit though...thanks Hun x

hamncheese · 13/02/2012 21:22

Good news bark, glad the wee one was just keeping safely hidden away til your scan :D

Poppy I really should make a hamncheese toastie for my name, but it actually refers to my tendency to get a ham- and cheese- burger and eat both in one go Blush haha, haven't done that since before pregnant though as red meat makes me feel queasy! Newcastle was very friendly... :)

I've taken 5 and 11 week photos (I thought they were 6 and 12 then scan put my back) My intention was to take monthly ones for this baby book/journal I'm keeping (trying to keep) but all the sickness and tiredness made it the last thing on my mind so will do 5, 11 then 16 and monthly from there I guess. No difference in the 5 and 11 ones though

So went shopping for maternity clothes today. Well, mostly for bottoms as I have a lot of non-restrictive and floaty tops/baggy jumpers etc so just needed the jeans to go with. Went to our new look in town to be told they no longer do maternity. Thought it a bit odd as apparently Glasgow is the second best shopping city after London... so went to H&M and after finally finding the maternity section (hidden in the childrens bit) found GREAT jeans. They look just totally normal. Got the straight leg ones and DH never even noticed they were maternity. They have the navy blue jersey fabric bit which on just looks like you've tucked in a t shirt under your top. Will expand as I grow. Really happy. Got 2 diff pairs and leggings and a new bra. Plus how freaking comfy are maternity jeans???!! I'm seriously considering never going back it's like wearing pj's all the time Grin

Anyway enough blah blah from me. Not trying to jinx it but I feel as though I may be starting to feel the 2nd trimester blooming and glowing. Fingers crossed!

(14+1)

xx

Angel786 · 13/02/2012 21:26

I used to love pg yoga! ESP the ten mins at the end of the session when we got to lie down and sleep Grin

That story was sad jparkson

vino which pram are yup going for and where are you getting the gender scan? Don't know if I can wait another six weeks!

OP posts:
Vinolover · 13/02/2012 21:57

We're going for the icandy strawberry (I think!!). I originally wanted the apple but the balkiness would annoy me I think. I've always had big prams before and now I want something smaller. I love the bugaboo but DH doesn't so it's the next best thing :). I'm sure I'll change my mind several times haha.

We're going to babybond. It's great because the appointment is on a sunday which means my children can come along too.

My dd has picked up this norovirus that's doing the rounds. Can anyone think of anything at all I could do to prevent me from getting it. I'm spraying that dettol spray everywhere and I'm constantly using hand sanitiser but I'm just paranoid :(

dragonleo · 13/02/2012 22:16

my SIL has the icandy peach- and it is super pretty but does seem rather bulky. I'm planning to use a sling mostly at the beginning (is this completely naive?) but DP wants to take it jogging (and i'm not going to argue with that) so we are looking at a BabyJogger.

angel the sleeping bit at the end of yoga is my fave too!!

tashaw28 · 13/02/2012 22:16

I'm also feeling better, yay! Great news bark!!! And picturethis my birthday is 27th August, great day although it's usually a bank hol so most people are awaySad
I've been feeling flutterings for days now but some days can't feel anything at all and it's scaring me, I'm 13.2 now help!!

JParkson · 13/02/2012 22:31

tash I'm 15 weeks today and have only felt flutters once or twice. So far this pg is proving to be quite different to both DS's and DD's! It's anybody's guess what it'll be this time :o

Westcountrylovescheese · 14/02/2012 07:37

Morning all! Well I've been in bed/sofa since Friday fighting off a cold and today is going to be another day of it. Normally I'd be swigging down some benolyn drowsy and throwing painkillers down my neck and it would be gone by now... but I can't do that. I've been to the chemist and got everything that I can take but it's not shifting it.

Yesterday had low point when watching a film, I never cry at films but there I was blabbing away a mixture of tears and snot (sorry tmi) down my face. Then I start coughing which made me pee a bit ( sorry more tmi). Which made me cry more... I can't do that again, so...

  1. Any good ideas for getting rid of this?
  2. I need cheering up. Sad
hamncheese · 14/02/2012 09:25

Have a bath? Maybe pop some vicks/olbas in it too? And get something really, really tasty for lunch to cheer you up (with much cheese); order it in if possible?!

Hope you feel better soon! Got anything funny to watch on dvd, or on tv.. comedy central if you have it?? xx

MrsMigginslovespies · 14/02/2012 10:06

Hello Happy Valentine's Day all! [heart emoticons for you all]. Am back and feeling the love. Had a wonderful surprise trip away which ended up being in a gorgeous hotel in York, complete with spa treatment yesterday (LUSH facial whilst DH had massage in same room. Was v nice). Lots of pottering about the old town in York, looking at the shops, cooing over the lovely Peter Rabbit shop we found and eating a lot of cream teas! Was ace and feel v spoilt.

Have my scan tomorrow which I'm nervous about. Am 13 weeks today and like many others, am fine in the morning, but look bigger by the afternoon/evening. According to my ticker thing, the baby is the size of a lemon today.

Am still fancying cheese a lot, but we had a hot roast pork roll (with crackling) yesterday on a lovely bench in York and it was SOOOOO delicious. We're telling people at my birthday party on Friday (it's all about me Wink) and I can't wait! Just hope all goes ok tomorrow afternoon.

So, hope everyone has a nice day and feels ok so far. Am sending happy vibes to you all. xx

Westcountrylovescheese · 14/02/2012 10:07

Now watching Jeremy Kyle and feeling a lot better, is it wrong that it makes me feel better? Hmm baths are meant to be red hot, pregnancy baths have to be cooler. Sad

Need to stop wallowing and you're right, funny films only!

I love the idea of ordering in lunch... So, what could I possibly order in with cheese? Wink

....is it too early to call chez dominoes?Grin

hamncheese · 14/02/2012 10:10

Ok guys. Remember I was - and others were - wanting a no nonsense to buy for baby list? Well having browsed a few posts here and other sites I've tried to get a consensus and formed this list below. Essentials for both baby and you; optional items many find useful if you can afford them; and items I'm unsure about as a lot of people seem to say they are pointless. Basically, anyone else have anything to add then let me know and also any who already have DC let me know if you think anything is in the wrong bit or shouldn't be there at all! Obviously a lot is up for debate and depends on what baby likes and what you will end up feeling comfortable using so that's why many things feature in optional or unsure. Hopefully this is going to make it easier to know what to get as the months go by!

Essential ? for baby:

Lie-flat buggy
Car seat (if have car)
Cot
Cot sheets
Several blankets
Clothing: 7-10 bodysuits/vests; 2-3 sleepsuits; cardigan; few bibs
Muslins/Towels for wiping up mess/changing on
Nappies, wipes/cotton wool, nappy cream, baby bath/wash
Bottles/formula (if not BF)
Changing bag (if don?t already have suitable bag)

Essential ? for you:

Breast pads
Nursing bra/s
Nipple cream
Prunes/Prune juice

Optional ? if can afford:

Bouncy chair
Moses basket (try to borrow/get second hand)
Baby gym
Sling/carrier
Swaddling sheets
Breast Pump (if BF)

Unsure:

Nursing chair
Changing Table
Baby Bath
Bottles/Formula (if BF as precaution)
Dummy

hamncheese · 14/02/2012 10:11

it's never too early to call dominos Grin

The3Bears · 14/02/2012 10:35

Hi everyone,

Hope your all well, 14+3 today and getting v impatient for my next scan even though its only been a week since my last Grin would love to have a gender scan at babybond but im going to wait and have a 4d one at about 26 weeks so should just wait really, keep counting down the days til 27th March though really want to know if its a pink or blue bump! :)

Ive been feeling alot better but still v tired hoping it goes in the next couple of weeks as fed up of faling asleep before 10 every night Blush, ds is very excited for baby now as he came to the scan so knows it's there. How is everyone elses children towards bump, if you have other children?

Keep looking at all cute baby clothes and stopping myself from getting any as want to know the sex first wish this next 6 weeks would just fly by :)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 14/02/2012 10:38

Hi everyone! I was on here a while ago but I started freaking out so gave myself a MN break!!

I am 12 weeks today and have my scan on 23rd Feb. I've got hyperemesis so sm looking forward to knowing everything is ok!!

Anyone else been particularly ill??

glittershoes · 14/02/2012 11:35

Sounds like a lovely time MrsMiggins - a bit jealous!

We got our NT results back - 1 in 100,000 so very pleased with that! Also super happy today as I received a lovely little card in the post from my friend asking me to be her bridesmaid next year in June! So sweet and a great incentive to lose the baby weight!

Thanks for the list hamncheese, we have not started with equipment yet, it all seems a bit daunting! What made you pick the icandy strawberry Vinolover? There are so many prams around I just don't know where to start!

So sorry you are feeling rubbish Westcountry - cheese is definitely the answer! Maybe a girlie romcom type film as well? Cuddle up on the sofa with a blanket as well!

I too am wishing it was my second scan already! Just want to get on with it really! And am intrigued to find out what flavour we are having! I change my mind on what it is on a daily basis!

PoppyS34 · 14/02/2012 11:53

Glitter that's the same results as mine! :)

Hope you feel better soon Westcountry (and frilly, hyperemesis doesn't sound good at all :() I really have no suggestions on how to get rid of it, but when I had a bit of a cold I made lemon, honey and ginger for my throat, stayed in bed and rested as much as poss.

Glad the scans are going well. I am also wishing that my 20wk scan would hurry up, I do want to know what we're having so can't wait to find out.

I'd just like to thank Angel's excellent suggestion of bump bands, Mine arrived today from New look and they work perfectly and are really comfy. Much better than a hairband! :o

vino I am also exhausted all the time, I was hoping it might start getting better but it's not yet. I've started exercising again too, as I was hoping that might help (!!).

thanks for the list, that's really useful. I'm banning myself from thinking about anything baby related until we've sorted out where we are going to live - that is the number one priority, which is causing a bit of stress as we desperately need to move. :(

faintpinkline · 14/02/2012 12:04

Hello all. I'm 14+6 today. I've been reading some of your posts above and am amazed at how much some of you seem to have done. I've done nothing. I'm still sleeping nearly 18 hours a day when DP is here to look after dd. Its half term this week and he's working today so I'm awake but still in my pyjamas and hardly have energy to do a thing.

Thankfully my clothes still fit but I think at some point soon I'm goign to have to find some maternity clothes though at this rate maternity pyjamas may be better.

I can feel baby moving at about 4am today I am sure I felt something that felt more like a little kick than a flutter

Keep hoping that I'll wake up enough to be properly exited soon

Vinolover · 14/02/2012 12:24

Glittershoes I have loved the icandy since the first time I saw it. I was convinced it was the apple I wanted but the chassis is just too bulky for my liking. My first two children had prams and they again were quite bulky and I ended up buying a smaller stroller when they were a few months old so not cost effective at all! The strawberry seems much more compact and I love the style of it. When you walk into the shops though it is very overwhelming at first because there seems to be just so many! It's good fun though :)

The3bears do you have your 20 week scan date already then? Im 14+3 as well but just got told at my NT scan that I should expect 20 weeks scan to be the week of 26th. I know it won't come any sooner but would love to have the actual date :)

Can I just confirm that it is safe to eat up to 4 cans of tuna a week? I am absolutely obsessed with it!!

Does anybody have a sense of what they are having?

0FrillyKnickers0 · 14/02/2012 13:01

Hey Vino! Didn't think I'd see anyone I knew on here! Hoe's work going? E x
