PoppyS34 · 12/02/2012 12:40

That's so exciting Needles, I really want to feel something, but I think with first ones it takes a while longer. I hope they sickness subsides sometime soon, sounds awful :(

I read some more of my pregnancy book last night, and got to the bit about stuffy noses and nosebleeds - wish I'd read it sooner :)

Happy Sunday everyone!

HopefulPositive · 12/02/2012 12:45

Hi everyone - its been literally ages (weeks and weeks and weeks) since I've been on this thread. I've had horrendous nausea and exhaustion - thought it was getting better and then caught myself a stomach bug so all in all a bit of a nightmare.

Needles that is so exciting. I'm desperate to feel movement, I thought I had a few weeks ago but turns out it was nothing.

I had my 12 week scan and it turns out we are expecting twins! Not identical, but there were two little munchkins inside me not just one. Very exciting and having to rethink all our plans including nursery room, cars, prams etc!

Poppy i have a constantly stuffy nose and the odd little nosebleed.

My clothes are getting tight - I've had to eat my evening meal in nothing but my knickers the last few nights!! The maternity clothes are on order from next...!!

PoppyS34 · 12/02/2012 12:51

HopefulPositive congratulations, that is very exciting! :o

I've just bought some maternity jeans from Ebay and some bump bands as my jeans are getting uncomfortable.

HopefulPositive · 12/02/2012 12:58

Thanks Poppy. I bought a skirt from ebay but feel like I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to maternity clothes! It's a guessing game as to what size to get. Do the bump bands you have bought actually clip to your clothes somehow?

PoppyS34 · 12/02/2012 13:03

They've not arrived yet, but they look like a band of material that goes over the top of your jeans (so you don't have to do them up) but they say in place. The rest of my jeans fit, it's just the zip and button I can't do up.

I think it was Angel that suggested them, I can't get back up the thread to have look, but they look like they might do the trick.

I dont know if this like will work..

*link, sorry!

WelshLadyCDF · 12/02/2012 13:09

hopeful congrats on the scan news, how exciting!

I bought some nice clothes from New Look Maternity yesterday in town, they have lovely cotton long sleeved tops and some nice trousers. Mamas and papas have some lovely clothes but it's not cheap, they even have a pretend bump in the changing room so you can see if they clothes will fit later on.
I am quite enjoying having less choice of what to wear.

I have just been to church, it felt nice knowing that DC can hear some of the singing and the sermons.

Happy Sunday everyone x

HopefulPositive · 12/02/2012 13:20

Poppy those bump bands look good - they may even hold up the one pair of maternity jeans that I do have but have stopped wearing coz they keep slipping down and it's annnoying! I reckon with a bump band over the top it may help.

I live on an island so the choice of maternity clothes here are very slim indeed but the new look website looks good so I'll have to get ordering....!!

Thanks for the congrats WelshLadyCDF :) Happy Sunday to you too!

NeedlesCuties · 12/02/2012 14:17

Hopeful Congrats on the twins! When I read your bit about eating dinner in just your knickers I laughed out loud, sorry! I thought you meant that was all you were wearing and my mind was like Confused Shock

SHOUT OUT: there was someone else on the thread who said they were pregnant with twins.... who was that??? Please tell me. Am going to add the word 'twins' to my list beside whomever is having them.

littlelamb1980 · 12/02/2012 17:18

Needles, you are so organised and I am so impressed and slightly jealous as I would like to be super organised but am a bit too lazy! But I do have a good memory and it was ByeBabyBatshit who is having twins, whose name I love- so funny!

NeedlesCuties · 12/02/2012 17:30

littlelamb thanks for the other name, I couldn't recall it.

I am really organised in RL too! My DH and friends tease me terribly but they'd be stuck without my organisation skills sometimes Grin

PoppyS34 · 12/02/2012 17:58

the list is great Needles :) so many bumps!

Has anyone been reading the other thread about custard tarts? the link to the guardian article in it was quite interesting..

www.guardian.co.uk/society/2007/may/29/health.medicineandhealth

Although I forgot to wash my bagged salad last night, so much stuff to remember :(

therumoursaretrue · 12/02/2012 19:14

Just checking in after being away for ages...I am always on my phone and too lazy to scroll through posts on it as it takes forever.

Hope everyone is well. Congratulations on your twin news Hopeful That will be fun!

I have been in awful form for days and days, every little thing was grating on me. Think I am starting to cheer up now though and DP has promised to take me shopping tomorrow as a little pick me up so can't complain about that :)

JParkson · 12/02/2012 20:21

Happy Sunday :) x

welsh I know what you mean about the singing. I sing a lot in our church, and when I was pg with DD, I went to all our national Chamber Choir practices. When the time came for our big concert with an orchestra from our church but another country, I'd just had DD and wasn't up for full-on singing but I attended the concert to support... She slept through the whole (loud!) 2nd half! She was only 4 weeks old! I think she def knew the music though, as she didn't flinch at the loud sections of the pieces. Very proud lol

I have a definite bloat bump by the evening, worse after carby foods like pasta and cake Blush

I thought I felt Pickle move the other night, as does DH, but now I'm thinking it was wind as I haven't felt it again since Confused

On the note of maternity clothes, generally the size you are normally is the rule of thumb for maternity. I'm struggling this time though, as I was between sizes before falling pg, so I need to try before I buy really. Not really possible with Next, so I'll be New Look-ing and Ebay-ing it this time again methinks...

14+6 :) x

Angel786 · 12/02/2012 20:50

Great news hopeful how exciting?! The bump band allow yup to wear your old trousers without doing tbe zip / button they conceal the opening, cover the belly if your tops have got shorter and and hold the trousers up. They look best when you match the band to a similar coloured top, like white band under white t shirt.

poppy thanks for the update, I'd been checking for the bump bands to come back in stock, just ordered a pack - old ones got quite stretched out in the last trimester!

A bit of an emosh day and lots of stress after many rounds of old grow d arguments with dh. Sad He thought I was being moody whenever we visit pil , actually I'm just quiet as they are 150 percent focussed on dd. He's now, finally, realised I'm not being weird, they just don't talk to either of us or sil as all the time is spent playing with / talking to dd. Shame as we did have a strong relationship pre dd, just wonder what looms when Bryo arrives on the scene in aug as they'll have to learn to share their attentions somewhat! Hopefully that's the end of all tbe rows as after today's visit the penny seems to have dropped, poor sil didn't even get a hello from mil until half an hour after she'd been there. Nothing like enthusiastic grandparents!

Checking in for the week before I settle down to the "Call the midwife" catchup on iplayer.

Loads of great messages! Loving the positive energy on here! And Dorita, you may not see this but hugs, my dear. Hopefully we'll hear from you again soon!

I am having the worst time of my life I think :(
I have three day periods in which I am in so much abdominal pain that I can't move, complete with vomitting and hot flashes which invariably ends in back pain as I stay in bed for too long. Three days, enormous weight loss and some hefty pain killers later and it is like I am not pregnant any more... no nausea, nothing, just the bump... I just finished my second episode of this mystery. My 12 week scan is on Tuesday so trying to not stress out.

As for clothes, I just get long tops and don't bother doing the buttons and zippers of my trousers but this cannot be sustained for long :)

No food cravings or aversions to be honest but, boy, do I hate the smell of detergent!!!!
It's a long post, bah I am not here often. Forgive me.

hamncheese · 13/02/2012 07:56

Hey all

That sounds no fun at all geekette... focus on the scan and it will hopefully all feel totally worth it after!

I stayed up til 11pm for van morrison. And hardly felt at all pregnant in the bad ways while away. Btw... Newcastle is great! I totally loved it. Reminded me of Glasgow :) Anyone from there??

Going maternity clothes shopping today. It's been long overdue but I need a new bra and jeans. I've been wearing the same 2 outfits for like a week as they are the only things I don't look like I ate all the pies in. Bump is coming along nicely now, very reassuring that it is getting bigger every few days :)

Also I had manchego cheese at the weekend. CHEESE.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 13/02/2012 10:35

Hello everyone - I hope that you're all well. I've finally got a healthy craving - fruit. I ate a mango, a punnet of strawberries and two kiwis in just over a day. I'm not normally a fan of fruit so I suppose that my body is telling me something. I'm coming up for 12 weeks and starting to feel a little uncomfortable in some of my clothes.

I have a hen night this Saturday and cannot say that I am looking forward to it. They're fine (ish) when you're able to drink but when you're not and the rest of the hens will have been drinking for a few hours beforehand, it's not going to be brilliant. I will drive myself there and back so that I can leave as I need to.

glittershoes · 13/02/2012 10:44

That sounds rubbish geekette - agree with hamncheese, focus on the scan tomorrow!

Hope you are having a lovely first anniversary MrsMiggins! It is our first in two weeks as well! So strange to think that this time last year I was running around like a headless chicken getting sorted and now running around or doing anything mentally or physically exerting (basically more than sitting...) is out of the question!

I am 13+6 and feeling in a bit of a lull. The all important 12 week scan is done, we have told everyone and yet I am hardly showing* and feel more and more 'normal' by the day. I just want to look pregnant and feel the baby move and go shopping for nursery furniture without feeling it is too early! Also still feeling tired and really need to give myself a kick up the bum! Everything seems too much effort and I know I just need to actually do something to get me started. Sitting from 3pm to bed time yesterday, only watching tv/being online/reading is not good enough!

Also need to stop snapping at DH, even if he is annoying and wrong! We squabbled this morning as we hadn't got lunch stuff yesterday for the week and he said, with lots of sighing, that he would get it today but it would have to stay in the car when he was at football tonight. Cue dramatics from me about how he obviously doesn't care about me or the baby as I have to think of everything and sort everything out (which, barring cooking the occassional tea, I would argue is pretty accurate. He complained last night that the shirts he put on to wash on Saturday were still in the washing machine. Yes. The magic washing fairy hasn't had time to hang them up. He, on the other hand, may have been able to take time out of watching the football to do it...) and, still on the dramatics I continued by saying that that leaving sandwich meat or cheese out of the fridge for a few hours would be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for me and the baby (by God can I be mean and unreasonable...).

Now I feel bad but can't bring myself to say that I will get stuff today as:

  1. I fibbed and said I had no time
  2. I would be sorting it out again

I may just need to chill the hell out!

  • I say not showing but am like you all above, not showing at all in the morning, feeling a bit more bloated by early afternoon and look about 6 months pregnant by the evening.
PoppyS34 · 13/02/2012 10:58

geekette hope you're feeling better and good luck with your scan tomorrow. Can't wait to hear how you get on.

Angel/Glitter that's rubbish about DH's :( hope it all settles down.

I am SO tired today, just can't keep my eyes open. Got a really busy day at work, which isn't good.

I really want a hamncheese toastie now :o Glad Newcastle was good, I'm not from there by have friends who live up there and have run the Great North Run a few times - such a great place and friendly people.

Has anyone been taking pictures of their tum? I've been taking pics 2 weeks apart, and there is a definite difference between 8wks and 15wks. I don't feel like I look any different, but clearly there's something going on down there... :o

and a BIG Good luck to everyone who has scans today (I think there's a couple?)

tubtoes · 13/02/2012 11:01

Good morning everyone

I am glad to hear that others also have the ginormous evening belly and irrational meanness to DH. Mine has been doing all cleaning, washing up and cooking since wk 5 cos i was so ill, now i am feeling better and venturing into the kitchen more, where of course i tell him he is doing everything wrong. Like the washing up, he doesnt wash or rinse properly so i tell him he is trying to poison the baby! Hmm, i blame it on the hormones, and the fact i have been holed up at home with head cold from hell for 3 days just as I was looking forward to actually socialising a bit on weekend, seeing as sickness has past. sigh sigh, moan moan.

I am actually feeling almost normal these days, although still really tired. but no more nausea or life threatening hunger pangs, i am really enjoying eating things like croissants and cupcakes that usually are so naughty. But then last night DH was massaging my painful Pelvis pain (basically my left bum cheek!) and commented that he can notice that I have put on weight there, ooops, so perhaps it is time to cut back on the goodies.

I am desperate to start showing properly, I will be 16 wks on Friday and in the mornings I am still almost normal. I think I might have felt bubba on saturday, I had such a headache I lay in a dark room all day with a cold flannel on my forehead and my hands on my tummy listening, feeliing for some movement. And, sure enough, when there are little bubbly feelings down there you can feel a little movement, it was pretty cool but I havent managed to "tune in" since then...

Wishing you all a great week,

TT

Lovemarmite · 13/02/2012 11:43

Totally agree with the nothing showing in the morning, feeling a little more bloated in the afternoon and then 6 months pregnant by the evening!
DH comments that I am getting bigger by the day, but I think it's my bloating as I get up in the morning and say look it's gone and he sniggers and says nope you're definitely fatter!

Oh well, those croissants, cheese and biscuits are probably a cause too. I've bought an online shop of lots of fresh fruit and veggies and so am substituting some of my naughties.

We went to mothercare on Saturday and put an order in for a pram/buggy thing and a car set plus an isofix car support thingy. Mothercare seem very good as they do a babyplan which means you just pay a 10% deposit and then pay before delivery and you get to change your mind as many times as you like from now until its delivered. There is a £10 charge but they priced match the best deal on the internet and so managed to save about £200 and we can change our minds and cancel the whole lot if we like but we would lose the £10 . It sounds like I work for mothercare by my praise, sorry!
We then went out for a zizzi pizza and then went to see the Muppets! Fun day :)

Did pregnancy yoga yesterday - definitely recommend as it really helped me relax and managed a good night sleep.

Today oh dear, no interest in work, still feeling sick and headache has set in, 14+2, definitely feeling a presence in my belly but wishing the time would pass a little more quickly - or should we be feeling happy at this stage? can't wait to bloom!
Hmm hope that does mean bloom outwards though :o

Angel786 · 13/02/2012 11:44

Morning all Grin all seems much better after a good night's sleep - despite yesterday's tears and shouting!

Poppy I've been doing monthly pics - every 4 weeks! Although last time I forgot to do teh 40 weeker as dd was a week early!

Wishing you all good a good week!

dragonleo · 13/02/2012 12:35

Just to echo marmite
I have been doing pregnancy yoga for 3 weeks now. It is AMAZING- recommend to everyone. I go to one class a week and bought a DVD which I do at home too. It's really relaxing and feel amazing afterwards.
15+3 now- think the time starting to pass a little faster :)

JParkson · 13/02/2012 13:23
