Hope you feel better lovemarmite. Stephanie's a lovely name.

I like Nadine Ava for a girl, Xavier, Laith, or Rayan (Ryan) or Kamaran (Cameron) for a boy. We're looking at Muslim names that work in English too. I love Mya, Natasha, Zachariah and Benyamin too but they've all been ruled out.

This might out me, but I hope not!!!

For a boy we're going with the name Joel, middle name, Ezra. Both Old Testament prophets.

For a girl we're going for Lydia, middle name Charis. Lydia was a women in the New Testament and Charis is the Greek word for 'grace'.

DH and I are both Christians and both very involved in our church, so it's important to us for our children to have names from the Bible or linked to the Bible. I know all Christian's don't feel that way, but we do.... plus the names we like are just lovely names :)

Liking some of the names you ladies are saying, especially Kamaran.

Lovemarmite · 08/02/2012 12:56

Like all the names Needles and Angel!
I knew a boy called Zachariah - he was very cool, and I worked with a Lydia - she was very headstrong and fun.

Funny how it relates to people you've met... on that note, all the Bens and Simons I've met have been very good looking!!! :o

JParkson · 08/02/2012 12:59

names, well, previous experience has taught me you can plan but don't expect to actually go with what you think is good!

DS, I was valiantly clinging to expecting hoping him to be a her (even though the consultant let slip at a scan that he was a he! So I didn't have any boys' names lined up, and neither did DH! We stumbled on his name(s) 3 days after he was born Blush

DD, I had my names lined up from DS's birth as well as boys' names too, but in the month running up to her birth, those names just didn't seem to feel right. The boys' names were already of a biblical theme as we both are practicing Christians, so I was quite comfortable with those but the girls' names weren't so we changed our options to fit. DD ended up with choice 2 of the biblical names :)

Now, we are reverting back to my original girls' names of Rhiannon Louise or Nicole Cynthia (it was originally Nicole Juliette but since DH's nan passed away last year, and DD has my grandmother's name in hers, we decided to include a family name). Boys' at the moment is John Frederick (after both our preferred GD's) or Joshua... um... something lol

JParkson · 08/02/2012 13:00

PS love those names needles! I didn't realise Lydia is in the Bible!

NeedlesCuties · 08/02/2012 13:15

JParkson I advise you to read Acts 16. Paul and Silas meet Lydia and stay at her house while they are spreading the gospel. She was the lady who was selling the purple cloth. She's only mentioned for a few verses, but worth a read most certainly.

glittershoes · 08/02/2012 13:33

Love all the names!

I am a bit of a name freak and am having so much fun going through my childhood and teenage diaries to see what names I loved then. DH has now allowed me to talk about names having banned it (for his own sanity) until 12 weeks.

We have quite different tastes (I need to work out a way of winning!) but both like Rex and George for a boy and Adeline and Xanthe for a girl. I am trying to persuade him into Xavier, Wilfred, Aurora and Isadora but he is having none of it at the moment!

We don't have boy middle names yet but a girl will definitely have Laurena (need to check spelling!) as a middle name which was DH's Mum's middle name; she died when he was 15.

Love both Stephanie and crumpets Lovemarmite (although, as you, for very different reasons!).

Maybe combine cheese and crumpets!

I really like the idea of Italy or Portugal as a babymoon, we too have to be careful what we spend but I have decided that a pre baby holiday is equivilant to a pram in terms of needs.... Grin

PoppyS34 · 08/02/2012 15:26

Ahh, i like Aurora but I've not chance of that with my partner!

I've not really allowed myself to think of names yet, but there are some great suggestions on here. The only thing I do know is that as we're not married my surname will be a middle name, as it would sound silly using both.

We need to move first, so that's our number one priority and once we've done that, then I think i'll start thinking baby stuff... :)

WelshLadyCDF · 08/02/2012 16:57

poppy I am getting nosebleeds too, about one a day, I think it's normal.

PoppyS34 · 08/02/2012 17:00

ahh, thanks WelshLadyCDF

I've had two today, and four this week so far. Didn't know if it was worthy enough to call midwife?

Glimpers · 08/02/2012 17:52

Blimey, loads of posts to catch up on!
Another good scan here, had mine today and it waved at us Grin
They've moved my dates forward by 3 days but as that would mean I conceived whilst DH was away, we're sticking with our dates Hmm
Loving reading the names, we are really stuck on names and haven't managed a sensible conversation about it yet! Maybe I can get some inspiration from you ladies.
Have put on 3kgs already Blush, can't wait for the warmer weather so we can out with DD on her bike and hopefully I won't end up needing my own postcode like last time Blush
Off to find something to eat to tide me over until dinner, as I'm starving Blush.

MrsMigginslovespies · 08/02/2012 18:43

Like the name chat. We've found boy names much easier than girl ones. I'm a traditional kinda gal so like George, Benedict, Charles, Henry, Peter and Edward and my DH's name, but not going for a DHjunior!. Girl names? No clue! Not going to discuss names with anyone else though apart from you ladies, as don't want lots of people MIL butting in with their ideas and having to diplomatically nod and smile.

Nosebleeds? Really? How odd. I've never had one, so hope I don't start. Do they hurt?

Angel786 · 08/02/2012 18:58

poppy that's an interesting point. Dh and I are married but no boys in my fam so my fam name is disappearing. I thought if we have a boy I'd like my maiden name to be ds middle name... But haven't approached dh on that yet...!

OP posts:
Westcountrylovescheese · 08/02/2012 18:59

No nosebleeds here but averaging forty to fifty sneezes a day. Odd. Will definitely be asking the midwife about it though... Just sneezed now another six times. It's not a cold and they are dry (tmi sorry). Odd.

We have a girls name, Claira, which was my grandmas name but are stuck for boys. Maybe Aran....

I like the sound of baby moons. May have to mention that one!

Glimpers · 08/02/2012 19:59

Sneezing loads here too Confused I wonder if it is just another 'odd' pregnancy symptom? I thought I just had a persistent annoying non-cold Grin
Names in the frame here are Naomi for a girl or Gabriel for a boy.... Neither of which DH is keen on Grin

The3Bears · 08/02/2012 20:11

Ive been sneezing alot too, had a really runny nose constantly aswell which is rather annoying hoping it goes soon as i feel like ive had it forever.
Love the idea of a babymoon but could definitley not afford it as were saving for a car :( and with all baby things a holiday will be the last thing on my mind but we'll fit in some nice days out with ds before the baby arrives and then hopefully some days out once babys born as ds will be off school so we can have a nice trip to the zoo etc.
So exciting everyone thinking of names some lovely ones you've mentioned, Weve already decided on names Noah for a boy and Holly for a girl :) cant decide on middle names yet so alot more thinking needed for that.
Cannot wait to find out babys sex my next scan is 27th March so I have a few weeks to wait :)

The3Bears · 08/02/2012 20:12

Hope everyones feeling okay aswell :)

eightieshopaholic · 08/02/2012 20:48

Loving the baby names.

So nervous excited booked private scan this Sat should be 14 weeks Nhs scan was very early and seems so long ago think it will all seem very real then and can let myself think of names then. I do like poppy Daisy and Harry.

MrsMigginslovespies · 08/02/2012 21:21

Oh yes, me too with all the sneezing and no cold!

PoppyS34 · 08/02/2012 21:30

Angel that's why I'm doing it, as there's no boys to carry my family name on, and I really want to do it for that and as a tribute to my Dad.

eighties after choosing poppyseed for my username, I'm actually starting to like the name poppy too :)

My 20wk scan is in March, too, 3bears, and I can't wait to find out what we're having.

Just had cheese for dinner, literally five slices of cheese Blush and now I'm stuffed and don't feel like the proper dinner I cooked and should be eating..!

PoppyS34 · 08/02/2012 21:43

OMG!! just turned over to watch OBEM and saw that poor baby get stuck - Shock I feel a bit queasy now :(

WelshLadyCDF · 08/02/2012 21:48

..I feel so queasy too. OMG. WHY am I watching this?!?!

alisonmcg · 08/02/2012 22:01

That's the most emotional I've been so far watching that! Think the closer I get to the scan the more that will affect me because brings it home how desperately I want to get to that stage!

The3Bears · 08/02/2012 22:33

I was crying my eyes out at obem tonight :(

littlelamb1980 · 08/02/2012 22:57

OMG, I'm literally bawling my eyes out at OBEM! That has got to be the scariest birth they have ever shown. Why do I put myself through it?! But know I will tune in next week!
