NeedlesCuties · 05/02/2012 14:58

woops I am super excited about reading that you and your DH have felt your LO move already!!!

I remember as clear as day when I first started to feel DS move (he was my first baby). I was in the cinema, at 18 weeks pregnant and I felt him move. Felt like a little fish flipping over in a pan :)

Can't wait to feel DC2 move!!!

woopsidaisy · 05/02/2012 16:33

'Tis a fab feeling NeedlesCuties, isn't it? I see you are having your baby in the Mater-I'm having mine in the UHD! Grin

Westcountrywife · 05/02/2012 16:56

Yeay Scottish, so glad it's all looking good. Enjoy the attention!

Woops, I keep on feeling something and keep trying not to imagine its sprout. This is my first and I'm nearing 14 weeks. It's too early though isn't it for me? Wishful thinking. Most probably it's wind.... (it is definitely in the right area though and feels a bit like butterflies).... Wink

Angel786 · 05/02/2012 17:47

Good point woopsi it's also good to have something sweet before scans too. We ended up spending about two hours at hoital last time with a Galaxy between two scans to encourage Bryo to move position!

Had early sings similar to last time, like butterflies or little bubbles, no strong kicks yet!

mrsmiggins asos had some maternity wear but my maternity jeans didn't fit past fur/five months last time. Bump bands are very good for trousers (just waiting to find them again!).

OP posts:
NeedlesCuties · 05/02/2012 18:30

Woopsi didn't realise you lived in NI! Good to 'see you'! Did you have you other DC in UHD? My mum works in that hospital, but not in maternity depts.

westcountry I think it's around average to feel a first baby move at around 18-20 weeks, but I've read that can be later if you're overweight. My tip is to wait for a feeling like a butterfly flickering or a fish flipping out of water.... that's how it felt for me with DS anyway...
Then as the baby gets bigger as you go into the 3rd trimester you'll have feet booting your ribs 24/7 you really won't be able to mistake it for anything else Grin

woopsidaisy · 06/02/2012 09:07

Yes NeedlesCuties, had both in UHD-before the new wing opened. Very positive experience both times. Hopefully same for number 3!
You never know Westcountry, could be baby...think I felt DC1 at 15 weeks, lying on tummy at night.

dragonleo · 06/02/2012 12:30

Hi everyone,
Hope you are doing well. I have been off the radar recently- seem to have missed about a billion posts!!
I have a question for you all though- the past few days I have developed the most ridiculous hunger. I am starving all the time. Last night I had 2 dinners and this morning 2 breakkies already!! Anyone elses hunger ramped up?
I'm 14+3 now...

sc0ttishlass · 06/02/2012 13:05

HI All - me again ;) just keeping you posted - the midwife at Early preg. unit called back (again, absolutely lovely person) and i have a scan tomorrow at 1130am now - which is great news for me (as in, so i can stop worrying) and i should be 12+1 then. cant wait. she also said there have been LOTS of tummy bugs going around and therefore worried mums to be calling up like me - but anyway - result! ill know tomorrow that fingers crossed all is ok.. had a little cry this morning to myself, for first time in past few months.. just all got on top of me I think! So will let you know tomorrow....

Dragonleo - cant add much there as ive had that hunger for weeks :) i have porridge at 9ish and then by 11ish i need toast and banana!

xx

The3Bears · 06/02/2012 14:07

Hey everyone, hope all is well! :)

Been looking after poorly ds :( all week so not really had chance to catch up, I finally got my scan date tomorrow morning and now I am beginning to feel v anxious about it not sure why I think mabye because im not having any symptoms now so very nervous but hopefully all will be fine will be nice to have an actual due date Grin

dragonleo i've been the same feel constantly hungry atm I just keep trying to have an apple or banana in between meals :)

Lovemarmite · 06/02/2012 14:12

Hey sc0ttishlass
great to hear you're going for a scan tomorrow :o
Hope your tummy is getting better now. I have had lots of little cries before first scan.

I have my NHS scan tomorrow and tbh Eastbourne hospital has closed lots of wards due to Noravirus and so a little concerned about going there tomorrow!

dragonleo - my hunger has been growing steadily - but starting to not fancy sweet things which is great but loving cheese again and carbs! Have put on about 4lbs!
13+4

hamncheese · 06/02/2012 15:03

Oh dear god yes marmite... the cheese! Cheese cheese cheese give me all your cheese!

Anyone else think pregnancy is like being possessed by another being and not being in your own body at all? Case in point: randomly shivering for no reason; not wanting to eat sweet things (wtf!?); going gaga after 7pm because you've been awake for (only) 11 hours. All this glowing and blooming nonsense is part of some conspiracy to keep people reproducing I reckon, when in reality it's like Alien.

Lovemarmite · 06/02/2012 15:45

Yeap - cheddar, edam, gruyere, dairylea, have started to linger in the cheese section and wishing all cheeses could just jump in my trolley!

Hmm yes alien - my MIL was telling me how much they move later on and the feet in the ribs. DH and I were both thinking of alien! Apparently it's reassuring :o

sc0ttishlass · 06/02/2012 17:03

thanks marmite :) glad to hear someone else has a few tears...

ham - coudnt agree more - its a very odd odd feeling deffo like your body has been taken over - and have to say - before i experienced this - even having had many many pregnant friends, I had NO idea what they were going through - I honestly thought they were just sick in the morning adn that was it - no concept of the fact that you feel totallly weird all day every day. i now definately look at pregnant people in a new light :)

still no snow here in Glasgow - but litearally cannot see further than about 2 metres due to freezing fog. very spooky. (alien like!!!!!):o

xx

MrsMigginslovespies · 06/02/2012 17:05

Good luck tomorrow Sc0ttish and Marmite. Super exciting that it's finally here for you! My turn in a week.

Ham you've made me laugh! DH freaks me out by saying there's another person who isn't you now inside your body. Agh! Too wierd! And yet feels natural too!

Now then. Cheese. Also can't get enough, and need to be careful as I have high cholesterol. Had a snackette this afternoon of ryvita with cream cheese (dull) then ryvita with the most delicious smoked cheddar. So yum. And we're having mexican food tonight with more cheese on top. I've actually not been too bad with being too hungry (yet), as still suffer fairly regularly with sickness plus meat especially sets me off. Be interested to see how much weight I've put on (yikes).

Still exhausted by 9pm so might try and stave it off just now with a small nap before DH gets home. Feel guilty about sleeping in the day somehow.

Bye for now!

glittershoes · 06/02/2012 17:15

Missed a million posts which I will catch up with later (promise!) but just wanted to update that we had our scan today and it was just wonderful.

One very wiggley baby! It was moving so much that the midwife kept commenting on it! He/She was sucking their thumb as well. Just amazing.

Off to tell everyone now, starting with my much younger brothers, they are only 11 and 13. Can't wait!

Chat later and big soppy love to everyone! xxx

hamncheese · 06/02/2012 17:23

"cheddar, edam, gruyere, dairylea"

droooooooool

I'm glad we're all harbouring aliens phew! But based on the scan damn cute, (and wiggley indeed glitter!) aliens doing their exercises. Well at least mine was, doing reverse leg curls and raising the roof with hands hehehe!

WelshLadyCDF · 06/02/2012 17:49

MrsMiggins ... I liked reading about your cheese-athon day today!
My DP has eaten all the cheese I was hiding keeping at the back of the fridge. Angry
I have also gone off meat too, but getting protein from eggs, cheese and lentils.

pintofmilk · 06/02/2012 17:56

CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE! Oh stop ladies please. I had laughing cow at lunch time, followed by cheddar on my crackers. Just made cottage pie, with extra grated cheese on top ( and nibbled whilst grating Blush)!

Oooh there goes the buzzer-dinner time!

tubtoes · 06/02/2012 19:52

Hello,

dragonleo i am really really hungry too, can eat and eat and eat, we are duedate twins so maybe its just the 14+3 stage??! If I dont comply i lose all possibility to function and crumble in to a crying, retching mess, poor old DH just had that experience on the way home in the car just now.

Also I have a headache which has been lingering since wednesday, its driving me mad, I took a paracetemol once but it only helped for 12 hours so I wont bother again, any one have any tips??!

According to my day by day baby book my baby can hear my voice now and I am encouraged to start talking to it, which I tried, but it feels sort of wierd. We just went to visit the hospital near our new house where I might give birth, they gave a presentation thing and even though it was all in German I nearly cried about 4 times, uh oh!

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your scans, so exciting! I had to have more blood tests today to see if i am allowed to continue working with under 6 year olds, my doctor was in a right strop about it as it was required by my employer not by her....

Anyway, have a great week everyone

TT

Gnomi · 06/02/2012 20:50

Good to hear about all these wriggly scan babies!

Needles thank you so much for doing the list, you're doing a great job.

Tubtoes My midwife said paracetamol is fine, and take the full dose. Its nurofen and the other things which can be dangerous. Having said that, I've had 2 headaches during the last 14 weeks which have been solved by only taking one tablet. Maybe ring your midwife if it's been going on a long time.

I'm more into bread than cheese, and I definitely have to have a fairly substantial snack mid morning and mid afternoon. I've put on around 4 pounds so far... Dont want to think about how much I'll weigh by August!

Gingerelle · 06/02/2012 20:58

Hi all! Loving the cheese talk, normally I'm a cheese fiend and not so fussed about sweet stuff but the alien has changed all that....literally cannot get enough jam and custard at the moment, mmmmmmmmm!

I'm excited by talk of feeling the little one too, I've had a few flutters but as I'm only 12+3 it must be, ahem, the wind. Can't wait for the real thing though!

Has anyone else got a bump yet? I've got a little one that seems to get bigger as day goes on but it could just be all the jam!

Good luck to everyone having scans this week- I am already counting down to the 20 weeks one, can't wait to see the little bean again!

PoppyS34 · 06/02/2012 21:07

hello, hope you all had great weekends? been catching up on the all the posts :) loving the cheese talk. Also suffering from a few headaches, but generally they come if I don't eat enough.

Gingerelle, I've got a slight bigger abdomen, which I can't suck in that much.

I'm 14+2 today and have been having pains/cramps in abdomen over the past couple of days, and I got a bit worried, then this landed in my inbox today - phew!

www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/your-body/week-14/aches-pains-and-cramps.aspx?xid=nl_YourDailyNewsletterfromWhattoExpect_20120206

Is anyone else still feeling it's all a bit surreal? Blush I haven't had that many symptoms, but the scans prove bubs is there, but I don't feel much different, and am having trouble believing we're gonna have a bundle of fun in 6 months... am I being weird? any tips/advice? thanks :)

MrsLister · 06/02/2012 21:17

Ah more lovely scan news. I'm planning on drinking a coke before my scan next Friday in the hopes of a bouncing babe! :)

Re cheese - OMG I am so with you all!

I kid thee not I just bought one of these badboys (we got one as a wedding gift - so delish) : www.britishfinefoods.com/top10/lancashire-bomb

I'm planning a nice night in - just me, the bomb and a spoon ;)

Food cravings have been mostly cheese/plain food related and I'm totally off anything curried or creamy.

Breakfast craving = cornflakes with ice cold milk.

Lunchtime craving = cheese salad sandwich with salad cream (thankfully EAT do a nice one).

Evening craving = not a great deal as my appetite seems to disappear at night. Just forced down some leftover lasagne but didn't enjoy it.

Am totally off anything rich or creamy (eg super buttery mash and even - the horror - Haagen Dazs!) and the thought of curry makes me gag.

Does the food craving/aversion thing last throughout pregnancy or is it just the first trimester?

xx

Westcountrywife · 06/02/2012 22:23

MrsLister, I have just said no to a choc ice (this may be a first) so I get the haagen daz aversion.

Haribo though are another matter, actively stopping myself reaching for a pack a day (but would happily do so).

Loving the cheese bomb!Grin
