Hi Voscar & Estya,
I also am a newbie to DVH as had previous 2 at Queen Mary's before closure and Farnborough is a real trek - didn't want to take a chance in rush hour getting there in labour!
Haven't seen anyone at hospital yet - had early scan at Queen Elizabeth Woolwich . Have MW appointment on 13th Feb and scan on 15th at DVH.
Would be interested in both your updates on DVH.
Good luck to you both and feel free to PM.

ByeBabyBatshit · 03/02/2012 18:52

OK, finally I've got up the courage to join in...

I'm 35, and expecting DC1 on 11/08/12. I had my scan yesterday, and found out it's twins! No history of twins in either my or DP's family. I can't even believe I'm pregnant, let alone with twins. DP and I only had one go at making babies, before deciding we weren't ready and should wait a while. But someone up above had other plans, and from that one occasion has sprung two babies!

To say I'm overwhelmed is an understatement, and it's taken me a long time to pluck up the courage to join in here! But, given my circumstances, I feel that bigger forces are at work, so I'm doing my best to get my head around it all. I'm sure there's a special 'multiple births' area on here somewhere, which will be the next thing I read when I get up the courage!

Angel786 · 03/02/2012 18:57

Congratulations bye-bye I'm not expecting twins but will have a 19 month old and newborn which is overwhelming at times, especially when dd is being a devil bit mischievous but hoping these sorts of things figure themselves out!

PoppyS34 · 03/02/2012 19:16

Hello everyone, wow, 5 pages of posts to catch up on! :O I haven't read them all, but just skimmed the last few.

Big congrats to anyone new who's joined, and really pleased to hear about all the scans, such good news.

Techno, really sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost dear dad very recently, we were very close, so you have my complete and utter sympathy at this difficult time. I hope today went as well as these things can go. :( x

Won't have internet for theweekend, but will try and catch up on all the news on monday. Bump (and there is a small bump now, even if I try and suck my stomach in!) is 14wks tomorrow - eek!

byebye twins!! how exciting, congrats! Is that the first set of twins on here so far?

Scan due for Wednesday. Really can't wait...

alisonmcg · 03/02/2012 21:19

Hello again

Just thought I'd let you know that the cramps earlier don't seem to have been anything to worry about. Couldn't get hold
of my midwife but spoke to someone else and they said it was probably just ligaments stretching. Will keep an eye on it but should be fine! Thanks for the advice :)

Hope everyone else is doing well and you all have a relaxing weekend!

Westcountrywife · 04/02/2012 12:26

Hi all. I am still in bed ostensibly because DH is painting the airing cupboard in the bathroom and I can't have a shower yet. Really it's cos I'm feeling lazy and can.

So, I'm lying here obsessing about showing, which I don't, yet. I have a bit of a belly anyway and it feels like it's not so squashy as before, a bit hard feeling. So I'm lying on my back and prodding around and convincing myself I can feel an underlying bump.

My question is, does anyone else have a bump? When will one come?

....more importantly, should I just get out of bed and stop obsessing?

JParkson · 04/02/2012 13:08

ByeBaby am more than slightly Envy about your twins! But massive congrats and very heartily welcome Wink

Bump, um, bump... I have a residual bump from losing weight and my 2 prev pgs... it's just still very soggy. Am waiting for it to firm up at the moment. Some evenings it does feel firmer than others, but I think that's as much down to over-indulgence at the tea-table Blush

alison that's a relief with the twinges - hope it stays that it's just ligaments.

Ok, so I am battling with SPD already and I'm only 13.4 weeks... DD's pg waited till 17 weeks at least before I got problems. Oh well. And now the kitchen tap has decided to start dripping, so I'm turning the stopcock off until I can get out to a DIY shop and get the right parts... blimey.

Ooh, has anyone else been forcast snow? I'm staying firmly inside if that happens! (I love snow normally but it doesn't agree with my hands, and with my hips on the blink probably would be safer for me to hibernate) :o

Angel786 · 04/02/2012 13:52

west first pg my bump didn't show properly til about 5 months although tom about 4-4.5 months I looked v bloated. This time I'm 13 weeks and have a prominent bump but think tests b/c all the muscles stretched out not that long ago. I'm tryi g to hide mine @ work for another two months Hmm!

Westcountrywife · 04/02/2012 13:54

JParkson, we had snow this morning, mostly melted now. I'm in Exeter - we were supposed to be the only part of the country not having it today. I think it's moving east...

I'm getting up now. Grin

JParkson · 04/02/2012 15:57

west it hit us in Swindon at about 2pm. Very lightly at first, but now it's quite steady.

hamncheese · 05/02/2012 11:38

Morning all, hope no-one is snowed in down south.

Just wanted to moan about the return of the killer headaches. Made the mistake of staying out til 10pm like the massive party animal I am on Friday and had a tension headache ever since that takes no care of the paracetamol/resting/hours of sleep that I throw at it. ugh. :(

sc0ttishlass · 05/02/2012 12:01

hi all - hope you are all ok and enjoying the snow if you have any :)

I'm slightly stressed - on Friday night, i was out (did eat some food from the buffet) - then as leaving about 11pm, got serious stomach cramps that had me doubled over.. about 5 times. Had to drive home - got in, and had (TMI) diahorrea for about an hour - several times. I didnt notice any blood.

my sister in law is a doctor - she told me i should phone doctor first thing monday or NHS 24 - and couldnt hide her worry (wish she had in a way).. and ive been googling lots and severe stomach cramps not good. I (again TMI) did have serious constipation for first 3 months and that seems to be back - but now just feeling sick with worry.

have called NHS 24 and await their call back - although i know there will be nothing they can do till monday at least - havent had my 12 week scan yet - meant to be 12 weeks tomorrow.

im so hoping its nothing but have a really bad feeling - sorry to write all this on here - but dont want to tell any friends about it as they will think im just being silly, and husband thinks im being paranoid..

has anyone had severe stomach cramps and they have been nothing??

xx

Westcountrywife · 05/02/2012 12:12

Big big hugs Scottishlass.

If you weren't pregnant, it sounds like classic food poisoning. Is that a possibility? I haven't had that but see why you'd be concerned (pregnancy seems to bring out the anxiety in all of us).

There's nothing you can do though except follow the NHS direct advice. Are you drinking plenty of fluids? You need to avoid dehydration. Otherwise ensconce yourself on the sofa and rest up.

Sending you lots and lots of good vibes. Feel free to worry with us... I'm off to PiLs for Sunday lunch at half past but will be here later to chat if you need it.

Take care.

Angel786 · 05/02/2012 12:25

Hope you feel better hamncheese

Scottish I had cramps like contractions and separately had v bad diahorrea. The emergency dr said not to worry about the diahorrea (even tho small traces of blood in it). All was fine in the end. Hope you are ok and resting up.

On another note, thank God for bump bands as reaching the awkward wardrobe stage. Just gutted eBay, new look etc all sold put of twin packs as wanted to buy some more...

Lovemarmite · 05/02/2012 12:49

Hi sc0ttishlass
Hope you're feeling a bit better. Big hug x

I've had terrible constipation cramps over the last few months, some very painful. Then I had a bout of terrible loose bowels that was hurting my insides but was over quite quickly and all constipation etc stopped for a while again. I think my movements were just all over the place.

I also had a different type of feeling last night, like a few quick shootings that I can only think are ligaments expanding maybe.

Not sure I am helping but I hope you get some good advice from the NHS helpline x

p.s. snow on the south coast was about 4mm and now very slushy! Looks like ice for tomorrow morning though - nice.

MrsMigginslovespies · 05/02/2012 12:59

Hello all,

Just thought I'd pop on and see how everyone's doing? Sc0ttish, how are you feeling now? Really hope you feel a bit better and let us know how you get on. Lots of fluids and sleep may help.

I was with PIL and SIL etc yesterday evening (got home at 1130, was EXHAUSTED) after a totally unsuccessful trip into Edinburgh to look at maternity clothes. THERE ARE NONE anywhere except online. I want to try them on as this is my first, see what they're like etc. Such a shame, really can't believe there's hardly anything around. Grump. Anyone got any good suggestions? I'm not exactly showing yet, but certainly getting thicker round the middle, especially at night.

Have lovely sparkly snow here, so out soon for a frosty walk with DH and Ddog.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

sc0ttishlass · 05/02/2012 13:13

thanks all - Im currently on the couch, drinking lots with husband looking after me (for probably first time) ;)

lovely lovely nurse phoned me back from NHS - she said she honestly believes its not pregnancy related.. and that was bug or food poisoning or something (as the cramps were at the same time as the Dih) - but she fully understands why i would worry - she went through loads of symptons none of which I have so she said she honestly isnt concerned - but has given me the number for the early. preg. unit to call tomorrow if I want. So... ill just wait and see - ill either try and call them tomorrow, or wait till i go to that sneaky scan on wednesday and see what happens.

she (and you guys) have definately re-assured me.. its funny what this does to us. im usually a bit of a worrier but nothing like this :)

havent thought about the maternity clothes yet Mrs Miggens - i have quite a few stretchy items anyway (dresses mostly) - although cant fit into my jeans any more comfortably which i think is more over heating than anything else :) I get clothes from boden for work normally and they now have a mat leave - again, you have to order online - but they are quite easy for sending back.

speak soon all and thanks again - certainly feeling like what would I do without musmnet and the August babies thread :)

xx

alisonmcg · 05/02/2012 13:19

Hi Sc0ttish, I wouldn't say I've had severe cramping like you but I did have mild cramps for about an hour or so on Friday and also had a dodgy stomach all day so I'm thinking they were both related, was also told it could be ligaments stretching. Don't have my scan until the 16th but as I've not had any bleeding at all I'm staying fairly positive that it's just another one of those pregnancy things and that all is okay, I'm sure it will be the same with you. Pre-pregnancy I once had severe, had to drop to the ground, cramps that were quickly followed by a very upset stomach (TMI sorry!) and it was definitely just food related so it could very well just be that and unfortunately exactly like the rest of us our baby brains just automatically assume it is baby related and potentially bad when really we all need to remember that the rest of our bodily functions still carry on when pregnant and sometimes it's actually nothing to do with the baby (much easier said than done I know, can't remember the last time I had a non-pregnancy related thought!) get plenty of rest and try not to worry too much Smile

alisonmcg · 05/02/2012 13:21

Ps was writing my reply when you posted Sc0ttish so didn't see it till after, glad your mind has been put at rest! Enjoy being looked after :)

sc0ttishlass · 05/02/2012 13:34

thanks Alisonmcg.. - now moving towards more positive thinking :) xx

woopsidaisy · 05/02/2012 14:25

Hi all. Just updating as I had a wobbly 24 hours!
This is my 3rd Dc, and I have been having lots of movement for 10-14 days now, currently 13 weeks. Movements have been so strong even DH has felt a kick!
Then yesterday afternoon I thought, hmmmm, he seems quiet today. By the evening-nothing. Nothing in bed, was awake most of the night-as usual-still nothing. Nothing this morning.
Rang midwife, she said to try some full fat coke, which DH duly rushed out to buy. An hour later, bub is back doing somersaults-and hasn't stopped since! Thank goodness.
I know many of you won't be feeling movement yet-apparently you feel it much earlier with subsequent DC. But I thought I would share the Coke tip for anyone else worried about dips in movements over the next few months.
sorry for those of you with sore tums and constipation, feel better soon.
