I had my early scan today and all is very well indeed. We have a heartbeat and s/he is measuring perfectly for our dates. The sonographer was laughing because the baby was moving around like billyo due to my crying induced tummy movements. I'm just so thrilled.

Vinolover · 02/02/2012 15:47

I've had my scan today as well! It was amazing :) Enen though this is my 3rd child it still never fails to amaze me! My dates are now spot on which is great because before they thought I was a couple of days behind and they would have changed them! I know two days doesnt seem much but both my children were late and it makes all the difference at 40+ weeks!!! I have thought from the get go that this little one is a girl but my goodness have I changed my mind! In fact I would say it is definitely a boy and so has everyone else who have seen my scan picture! Have booked a gender scan for 26th Feb so will know for sure then :)

Im glad everyones scans are going well and Im sure you all have a smile as wide as mine! Now to deal with the headaches.....

MrsMigginslovespies · 02/02/2012 16:18

Oooh ohh, super exciting all the lovely scan news. Vino can you really tell about the sex, do you think? That's amazing. Congrats everyone so far on great news. Grin

BTW, if anyone takes the Pregnacare Plus vitamins, they're MUCH cheaper at ASDA than at Boots: £8 compared to £13.99 at Boots which is a big difference.

Techno really sorry to hear about your news, and hope you can all take some comfort in each other. Look forward to Sunday I guess.

I'm now feeling wiped out after being v busy all day, so off for a sneaky nap to see me through to 9pm. Meh.

hamncheese · 02/02/2012 16:22

Great scan news all :)

Can report in relation to headaches I've not had one at all for the last three days after making a concerted effort to drink TONNES. So maybe it was dehydration even though I was still drinking a lot before... maybe wasn't enough.

So who out there intends to find out the sex? DH really doesn't want to so I'm happy to wait until the end to find out, plus it will cut back on the pre-emptive overly gendered clothing I guess.

Lovemarmite · 02/02/2012 16:37

Great to hear about the great scans, yeah!

techno hope Friday goes okay. Completely feel for you, but hope the scan goes really well on Sunday.

We're going to wait to find out the sex and find it a surprise. Been tentatively looking at cots etc and think we won't be buying anything until May/June but tbh I might cave in before then!

Vinolover · 02/02/2012 16:44

I agree about the headaches hamncheese. I really haven't drunk very much today and have felt awful! I've got low blood pressure and if I don't drink I go really dizzy. Very silly of me really.

As I said above, we are definitely finding out the sex. At 12 weeks you check the direction the nub is sticking. ( I won't say in case anybody really doesn't want to risk finding out). We want to find out so we know which of our children will need to share their bedroom and we have time to agree on a name Wink.

faintpinkline · 02/02/2012 17:32

hello all sorry I've not been posting.

Well I've had my 12 week scan and it was a lovely lovely moment to see baby on screen. he/she/it is so far doing well and I was a few days ahead of where I thought so my stats are

faintpinkline dc2 due 8/8/12

Suddenly getting very excited. We are going to tell DD on Saturday then wider family soon afterwards

Angel786 · 02/02/2012 17:42

Congrats on al, the good news re scans ladies!

vino am intrigued. The monographer said they could tell at 12 weeks but couldn't be certain. Think I'll find out too!

Angel786 · 02/02/2012 18:08

Done some research following vino had thougt it was a boy due to pg being so different but now think it's a girl! Will check at 20 weeks Wink

MrsMigginslovespies · 02/02/2012 18:49

Very interesting re sex of baby. We're finding out too as I can't wait that long, plus want to plan things. But wierdly, my MIL doesn't want to know a single detailabout anything, including the sex, so we won't tell her.

Cream crackered again tonight. Could honestly go to bed now which is crazy. Nice M&S pasta for supper that will surely finish me off!

MrsLister · 02/02/2012 19:10

Great news on all the scans! Makes me feel so positive :-)

Ooh I will have to Google the 'nub' thing too! We're def going to find out and I'd love to be able to tell at the 12 week scan.!

Two weeks tomorrow for me... Counting the seconds!

hamncheese · 02/02/2012 19:18

I'm totally with you miggens... as soon as I eat my dinner I'm out of it. Really had to force myself to stay awake at 6.30 there. It's actually kind of pathetic Blush, to the point that I know as soon as I stop being on the computer I'm going to be sleepwalking towards the bedroom.

I just made DH go out and get me orange squash to quench my thirst and avoid those nasty headaches... thing is though it's SO hard to find sugary squash. All the Robinsons is now no added sugar. Seriously they barely do any normal stuff. What happens if you don't want fake sugar in your drink?

WelshLadyCDF · 02/02/2012 19:24

hamncheese I drink Ribena or elderflower cordial (it's in a tall green bottle), the sugar free drinks have aspartame in them which gives me bad headaches.

Am away to Liverpool tomorrow to tell MIL about the baby ... and the engagement!!

Hope you're all ok,

xxx

halfdoneharris · 02/02/2012 19:33

Great news about all the scans ladies!

I told my boss today, who is really lovely anyway, but I was a bit nervous as I have only been there since September. Anyway he was thrilled with the news and said how wonderful it is being a parent etc. Couldn't have gone better really!

We probably won't find out the sex as I think it is just another lovely surprise after the birth. Can't guarantee that my resolve will continue until the 20 week scan though.

Dorita75 · 02/02/2012 20:01

Hi August ladies,
I had my private scan today and was told bean is only measuring 6 weeks, not 9+4 as I and mw worked out...I'm going back next week to check on growth...

My question is, did anyone go for an early scan and since the dating scan, it's turned out you weren't as far along as you first thought?

We did see a 'bean' and what looked like a flicker but sonographer said it's really too small and early to definately say all's okay. Sack okay etc...no bleeding so I'm hoping all's okay. Will know next week...

Thank you - I'll appreciate honest thoughts so give me it warts n'all please!!

Vinolover · 02/02/2012 20:14

Dorita are you certain about your dates and when did you get a positive hpt? I had an early scan at 6 weeks and was measuring 5 but had a heartbeat and my scan today tallies with my dates, so they do catch up. It really is very difficult to date a very early pregnancy. Hopefully you just aren't as far along as you thought you were. When I miscarried I found out from scans after I had started bleeding and there was no question about it. Hopefully next week will bring some positive news for you.

Dorita75 · 02/02/2012 20:23

Thanks vinolover I got my bfp on 28th December so it could be my dates are wrong. Date of last period was 27th November though...surely it can't be that long before a positive? Anyway...hopefully it can!!

hamncheese · 03/02/2012 08:36

RIBENA Wine Grin

hope all goes well for scans today if people are having them.

I'm off to try and not feel like an armpit in preparation for reading 330 year old documents today! Then try and stay awake long enough to go out for dinner with people from work...

Vinolover · 03/02/2012 09:50

I think you just need to try and stay positive dorita. My fingers are crossed for you. X

Thank God for paracetamol! My headache has finally gone :)

alisonmcg · 03/02/2012 11:10

Hi everyone

For the last ten minutes or so I've been having minor cramp like pains in my the centre of my lower belly, best way I can describe it is that it twinges with a bit of pain for about a second then goes away again, seems to be happening about once or twice a minute. Has anyone else had this or is it something I should be worried about? Not had any bleeding etc and this is the first time I've felt this. Will be 11 weeks on sunday so close to getting the all clear that I think any type of pain will panic me until then!

Thanks for any advice you can give.

MrsMigginslovespies · 03/02/2012 11:19

Hi Alison. See if it continues/gets worse. If you're worried, phone your midwife. Don't risk it if you're getting worried. It could just be that things are growing and stretching, but equally, good to get it checked if it worsens etc. Good luck and let us know how you are later.

Angel786 · 03/02/2012 12:07

Hi Alison i had cramp like pains, similar to contractions - v painful for 10-15 minutes, turned out to be gas Blush

geekette interesting thought about not getting a pushchair. I suppose you could manage if you have easy access to a car and a very comfy sling. Slings are super. But I found once DS got a heavier my back started to ache with the sling and I appreciated being able to "offload" into the pushchair. Also useful just for getting out the house and going for a walk, or going shopping. Perhaps a small, light one would annoy you less...? :) Thinking I'll be using a sling even more with number 2 still in pushchair!

McBaby · 03/02/2012 14:05

Scan went well today and dd moved to 7th Aug.

So now very excited and hoping I can sleep more and relax a bit more.

But have bad back pain so have to go to the physio after a little chat with the mid wife earlier.

13+3

Lovemarmite · 03/02/2012 14:07

alison I too had cramps that seemed to be gas in the end.

I also have moments of constipation and then get tummy aches, cramps and feeling a bit off. Drinking more water seems to help me and also not eating too many dry foods and sweet refined things but trying to replace afternoon biscuits with a bowl of fruit... hard though as biscuits etc are so quick!

If you're not constipated at all and feel that it could be gas, then I would call the mw. Hope it gets better!

Off for a walk to get limbs etc moving again. Been so inactive this week...
