evening everyone - meant to be happy monday today :) (apparently because its the first monday people will have money since xmas!) Re: money worries - we have just bought our new house so all savings gone into that - nothing left and my very very old polo is dying so unless we win the lottery (i still hope it might be possible!) might have to resort to public transport. Dreading it after years with a car. but anyway, money stuff usually just works out - you get there in the end.

glad (well not glad but you know what I mean) that quite a few of us are having headaches - I had a headache from saturday morning till sunday evening - was gone this morning, the nausea was back.. and then the headache came back in the afternoon - I actually went home ill at 3pm for the first time as just couldnt focus.

randomly - has anyone else had a twitching eye? I have been having one for the past 4 weeks or so... really annoying - i have read a million things about it one line, but am wondering if it is because im not yet taking vit D

lastly, i bought a book today that was in the Times a couple of weeks back - 'French children dont throw food'. Will let you know if any good ;)

great to hear a lot of the scans are going well - I still have 16 days to wait for mine - hurry up!!!!

anyway good night all
xx

geekette · 31/01/2012 05:20

Morning all! I think I am finally back to enjoying the pregnancy rollercoaster after the week from hell.

I was lain horizontal by a UTI, constipation and fibroid pain (all in one week!!!). And just to top it off, all the above ended up giving me back pain which is now ebbing. phew!

now into morning sickness week! yes! seems to have started off gently or maybe I am just wise enough to just let it happen and grab a bite when it seems appropriate.

Still two weeks to go to 12 week scan and also thinking of a water birth, but it is a bit early for me to know what I want.

I can't stand buggies, prams, push chairs... I have to admit my parents had one which we never used. was hoping to get away with a sling. is this unreasonable?

hamncheese · 31/01/2012 07:29

Glad that others are having headaches too. Well not glad, but less worried. I'm getting them constantly and stopping me from thinking straight. May ask midwife though fully expecting to be told to rest and not much can be done.

So week 4-10 sickness hell; week 11-13 headache/rubbish sleep hell. Bring on the second trimester people!

I went into mamas and papas to look at prams with DH. Came out feeling very confused. Also, does anyone know why nappy bags are all over the shoulder? Why don't they make them like backpacks, surely that's better weight distribution AND leaves your hands free? Pff I'm just gonna use a backpack I already have. So much to buy... seemingly. I need to find a bare minimum, no crap list.

MrsMigginslovespies · 31/01/2012 08:42

Hear hear on the no crap list Ham! Morning all! Baby is 11 weeks today and the size of a lime! Two weeks till my next scan but wish it was sooner.

I've got a phobia that I'm going to receive lots of guff that I can't fit into my house by lovely and well meaning people. Super kind, but I do worry! I would like a nice changing bag though. My new pram comes with a matching (navy) one that DH won't mind using, but I'd like something a bit cute. I saw some lovely ones from the US, but irritatingly, they don't allow UK bank cards to pay for it.

Sleep is still iffy with me. Fall asleep fine, then wake up, need the loo, then lie awake thinking about stuff for a while. Plus get very hot. Boo. Have to go into my new office later today which is a faff but has to be done, and DH v sweetly helped me last night with some stuff for the boss. Really not sure if this job is going to work out, but really need some money.

Sc0ttishlass would be interested in your book, and actually, any other good recommendations too. Not got to the book buying stage yet, but have been browsing.

Also Needles I've only just noticed, but you've a ? for my DC number. This will be my first baby, but don't update just for me, just whenever you do the next one, thank you!

Sorry, this is v rambly! Hope everyone has a nice headache free day. x

NeedlesCuties · 31/01/2012 08:45

geekette I'm planning to use a sling for this DC. DS used to cry so much in his pram as a newborn and didn't really like his buggy when he got older. Now that I think back to it I am realising that a sling and then a baby carrier would have solved some of that stress.

He hasn't used a buggy since about the age of 20 months, just wants to walk everywhere, so I let him. He'll be 2 next month and now the 'issue' we have is that walking 100 yards takes ages as he wants to look at every drain, flower, car, dog he sees Hmm He is cute though! Grin

JParkson · 31/01/2012 08:54

Ham I know what you mean re nappy bags... I have seen a gorgeous one in the Designer Outlet Village by me, and I've hankered after it since being pg with DD. Well the design anyway, even if the colours have changed. It is a backpack, by Radley. I love their bags (and I'm not a bag person) and I swear I will do what I can to get it this time. Will post a link to it later once DD lets me I can get to the computer!

bugger, I can't find it on the net

This is what I get for living in the past

estya · 31/01/2012 11:05

Hi all, needles you can put me in for Darenth Valley, Kent - unless we go for a home birth (its looking more attractive as i see how many other people are going there in August - but i guess I'd still be under Darenth Valley midwives)

What are people's thoughts on whether we are a mini baby boom? There seems lots of us in this group and my midwife said something along the same lines.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 31/01/2012 15:10

I just had my booking in appointment with the midwife (who was great). I am 10 weeks on Friday and after an mc last year, crapping myself about it happening again. My lovely midwife arranged for me to have a scan on Thursday. I'd never met this mw before but just burst into tears the moment I walked into her office.

I have no reason to believe that there is anything wrong but after last time, the 'innocence' of assuming all is okay is gone :-(

tashaw28 · 31/01/2012 15:36

Good luck theressomethingabout I still haven't seen anyone yet and am 11 today! But booking in on sat and private nt scan on mon can't wait. Am still so exhausted every time I sit down I fall asleep. Arghhh!

sc0ttishlass · 31/01/2012 16:07

mrs miggins - will let you know about the book - its more a 'novel' type book that you read the whole way through and is about things like how french children dont pick at their food = they eat the whole meal, veggies included. other than that i was given a book for now, is what to expect when youre expecting, which is quite good.

headache gone and nausea back (think its one or the other) - asked to work from home today which helps. still ahve 15 days till nhs scan! argh!

oh, anyone in glasgow - the groupon offer today is for a 3d. 4d scan - £99. i wont get it as i personally dont like the look of teh 3d scans!!!!!! but some of you otehrs might like.. anyway, back to the ginger nuts :)

xx

lynniegooner · 31/01/2012 16:59

Hi all! Today been for my booking appoinment and then a quick dash on the bus to another hospital for my scan. All seems fine on the screen but have to wait for the blood results to come back (which they said would be by phone in the next day or so if a high risk result and a week in the post if not). But it is really reassuring seeing that tiny person inside you on the telly wriggling around!
And they have brought my due date forward one week, so now am 13+2 and due on 05/08/12
Good luck to everyone with their scans this week :)

Purplelooby · 31/01/2012 18:59

Hi all, long time no post. Had a busy few weeks - hectic at work, rushing to the GP with a (sort of) bleed, a hen do 6 hours drive away (!), etc. Anyway, I need to relax a bit I think...

So, noticed that I have a due date twin hooray! Hello kellzi

eightieshopaholic · 31/01/2012 19:54

Saw GP today for 12wk apt told her mw said wouldn't book me for 12wk scan as had one at 9wks she said she was not happy with this and has left message for mw to call me tomorrow to book me another scan, this could be a interesting call tomorrow!!

Angel786 · 31/01/2012 19:56

Hey all,

purple hope all is ok?

Headaches a plenty here and also needing to go to the loo a lot so disturbing my sleep. Still v v v tired too.

Scan again tomorrow to get measurements and confirm dates as Bryo was too little a fortnight ago.

There's a review of French Children Dont ... By the Guardian which is hilarious but not sure the book is like that?

OP posts:
MrsMigginslovespies · 31/01/2012 20:40

Meh to headaches. I've had one all day too and had to resort to paracetamol again. Sorry you're feeling pants Angel and hope you feel ok soon. Am actually off to bed soon as cold and shattered. Bleuch.

sc0ttishlass · 31/01/2012 21:04

rubbish rubbish to all the headaches - I tell you what - who know it was like this :)

the 'french children dont' definately is humourous - easy to read and I'm hoping to pick up some hints along the way :) only trouble is these days fall asleep within a second of head hitting pillow (or couch!) so hard to find time to read!!

enjoy any scans tomorrow folks :) off to watch prisoners wives...

xx

hamncheese · 31/01/2012 21:16

Just wanted to share a little personal victory with you all:

It is past 9pm. I am still awake. I'm making up the certificate tomorrow.

Have a great sleep if possible all :)

voscar · 31/01/2012 21:22

Estya do you know of lots of us due at Darent Valley? I can only see three of us? Me, you and Danmoore00? Hello btw!!!

How have you both found things so far? My
Midwife was at knockhill children's centre and she was lovely. Not been up to Darent yet to see the labour ward, or for my
Scan (7th) - but I see you've both got DC so maybe youve experienced things here before? All good? X

estya · 31/01/2012 22:49

Hi Voscar, 3 in about 60 for 1 hospital has got to be above the odds.

Darent Valley have a reputation for being very busy and I know people who nearly gave birth in triage because they didn't have a bed, induction was delayed days because they didn't have rooms etc. I had quite a good experience, but that was really down to luck and the fact that I had researched what I wanted and could insist that they gave it to me.

I gave birth last time about a month before Queen Mary's closed and I think a lot of people had transferred to Darent so they weren't in a unit that was being wound down.
My midwife commented that there is a lot of people pregnant at the moment which started me wondering if again I'm due at a busy time. I think she said that 5000 babies were born at DV last year - but i'm beginning to doubt my memory for numbers on that one.

I've heard great things about the midwife unit at darent. Unfortunately that wasn't on the table for me last time but this time i intend to put my foot down and insist on it.

On the plus - apparently DPs are allowed to stay over night after the birth now.

PM me if you'd like to know more.

But, yes, pregnancy is going well. 2.5 weeks until our scan - it doesn't really feel real until then. Good luck with yours.

Angel786 · 31/01/2012 22:58

Thanks mrsmiggins took a paracetamol and that seemed to help a lot, wonder if it was dehydration today.

Sweet dreams all!
